Speaker:

Welcome to the end, just like that sex and the city fans podcast.

Speaker:

I created this podcast for sex and the city fans.

Speaker:

And just like you who love Carrie Bradshaw and are super excited to binge out on this

Speaker:

new HBO max series and just like this.

Speaker:

Let's watch the new chapter of sex in the city and just like that.

Speaker:

And talk about fashion, love, relationships, and life in New York city.

Speaker:

Hi, I am dimple.

Speaker:

Dang.

Speaker:

I am your host.

Speaker:

I'm a marketing expert, a podcast coach, and a podcaster.

Speaker:

And let's get this party started.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

You guys let's talk about episode seven.

Speaker:

This was, I will say an interesting one.

Speaker:

So episode seven, open sub with Carrie and she's on her Mac, computer.

Speaker:

She's typing her stories.

Speaker:

It is kind of raining outside.

Speaker:

And reminds me of back and her sex in the city days when she used to

Speaker:

be writing all of her columns and it just that same exact vision.

Speaker:

And by the way, did anyone notice the song that was playing the lyrics

Speaker:

said spring is here and yet it was like rainy and snowing outside.

Speaker:

so what's interesting is there's definitely some irony in that song and

Speaker:

what that means to Carrie, because I think that song represents that for

Speaker:

Carrie it's time for new beginnings.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

And the next scene, Carrie takes her article to her editor and her

Speaker:

editors not liking the sob story.

Speaker:

The, you know, Carrie lost the love of her life, Mr.

Speaker:

Big.

Speaker:

And even though that is Carrie's reality, but her editor thinks that the audience

Speaker:

would prefer at least a glimmer of hope.

Speaker:

And that is what she is driving.

Speaker:

To get carried to do is to provide even a glimmer of hope.

Speaker:

And she asked Gary, well, Gary, when are you going to start dating again?

Speaker:

And Carrie's not really too keen on the whole dating thing right now.

Speaker:

So then her editor says, Carrie, just go on a date.

Speaker:

And then at least you can have a chapter in the book about this date or at this

Speaker:

point, even one page would be okay.

Speaker:

so in the next scene, Charlotte is hanging out with her new friend, Lisa, and they're

Speaker:

playing tennis together and they're playing against these two other women.

Speaker:

And Charlotte's like, we got this, we can win this.

Speaker:

And it's interesting that they're playing Rocky music in the background and

Speaker:

they're playing eye of the tiger, like all like goodies from like the eighties.

Speaker:

And it's putting Charlotte in a different light that I haven't seen her before.

Speaker:

It's putting her in this light of like, you know what, she's

Speaker:

ready to try something new.

Speaker:

She's ready to take on the world and she's not going to be,

Speaker:

taking no for an answer anymore.

Speaker:

She's not going to be losing she's in it too.

Speaker:

So, this is like interesting.

Speaker:

Charlotte.

Speaker:

I want to see what happens with the.

Speaker:

so in the next scene, Miranda is irritated with Steve because she

Speaker:

can't even hear him on the phone when she's at the farmer's market.

Speaker:

And she's like, okay, whatever, just get over here.

Speaker:

Cause Steve was at another farmer's market across the way.

Speaker:

And so Steve shows up to meet Miranda at the farmer's market and then Miranda bumps

Speaker:

into her professor and her professor was with her husband and they're all talking.

Speaker:

Then Steve finally comes over.

Speaker:

He's frazzled that Miranda was yelling at him and he forgot his wallet at

Speaker:

the other farmer's market stand.

Speaker:

So wonderful.

Speaker:

I mean, this is interesting.

Speaker:

They're really.

Speaker:

Showing Steve to be quite the senior citizen, but, I don't know.

Speaker:

And then,

Speaker:

and some Miranda's like, oh, this is what it's come to.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Miranda, your life is not really too exciting when you're around Steve.

Speaker:

Is it all right?

Speaker:

So then Carrie's hanging out with the girls and she's telling them that

Speaker:

her editor wants her to go on a date.

Speaker:

And you know, of course Charlotte gets super excited and is still not excited.

Speaker:

But Carrie does say, well, if I can lighten my hair, I can lighten my.

Speaker:

So that's a good one.

Speaker:

Carrie.

Speaker:

I liked that saying, and then Carrie and Miranda are taking a walk and

Speaker:

they're talking about Shea and the fact that she never texted Miranda back.

Speaker:

And I think Miranda's kind of snooping around to see if Shea has asked Carrie

Speaker:

about her or mentioned her at the podcast studio or anything like that.

Speaker:

And she's trying to figure out well, how long is too long to be waiting

Speaker:

for someone to respond back to.

Speaker:

DM or a text message.

Speaker:

And I guess it's been about three months, so three months.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I would say Miranda that's a long time.

Speaker:

And I don't know if she's that into you at this point are maybe

Speaker:

she wants you to chase her?

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

And also Miranda's questioning Carrie and Carrie's ever going

Speaker:

to have sex with someone again.

Speaker:

And Carrie is like right now, it's too difficult to think about.

Speaker:

She's like, I'm sure I will, but you know, Mr.

Speaker:

Big is still fresh on her mind, which is understandable.

Speaker:

So in the next scene, Dr.

Speaker:

Naya Wallace, she's in the car with her husband and Miranda sends a text message.

Speaker:

And so Dr.

Speaker:

Nye has got this.

Speaker:

Fancy car where her text messages are said to automatically read big mistakes and

Speaker:

never do that because you don't know what kind of text message you're going to get.

Speaker:

And imagine if she's cheating, that would be really bad.

Speaker:

Well, she wasn't cheating, but that this message was still bad enough because

Speaker:

Miranda sends a text message saying, oh, I'm so sorry that you're not pregnant.

Speaker:

And did you actually tell your husband, how did he take.

Speaker:

Well, doctor and I did actually not tell her husband and he

Speaker:

did not take it too well.

Speaker:

And while they were having this conversation, while she's driving,

Speaker:

she almost ran over a toddler, looked like a baby in a stroller,

Speaker:

but it was quite the toddler.

Speaker:

We'll get to that in a minute.

Speaker:

So it was, two men that were a couple and they were walking their baby across

Speaker:

the street and the light was green.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

Dr.

Speaker:

Niaz slammed on her brakes, but only because her husband said stop.

Speaker:

And then the man came to the window, he started knocking on the window.

Speaker:

He is very upset and he made it very clear that he had a toddler

Speaker:

and she was not paying attention.

Speaker:

Now I want to ask you guys, what do you guys think?

Speaker:

Do you think he was overreacting or do you think that he had the right to be mad?

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I mean, I think he did kind of have the right to be mad because

Speaker:

she was a distracted driver and she could have, random over.

Speaker:

But I think he was very animated.

Speaker:

And he did make it clear that it was a toddler.

Speaker:

So don't call it a baby.

Speaker:

Cause he might get mad.

Speaker:

It was definitely a toddler.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

We'll move on to the next.

Speaker:

So in the next scene, Charlotte's playing tennis again.

Speaker:

This seems to be her new sport of choice, which is good.

Speaker:

And she's playing this time with Lisa and Lisa's husband, and

Speaker:

then it's her and Harry, and she seems to be very competitive.

Speaker:

And, you know, during this tennis competition, she

Speaker:

accidentally knocks Harry to the.

Speaker:

But she doesn't even know, like notice them for a while.

Speaker:

Like, it takes her a little bit of time to then be like,

Speaker:

oh, okay, let me help you up.

Speaker:

But she didn't say sorry.

Speaker:

And he was really expecting her to say, sorry.

Speaker:

And it's something that really bothered him.

Speaker:

So Harry's, looking for that apology, he's waiting and waiting and

Speaker:

waiting and the apology doesn't come.

Speaker:

And then he dresses the situation.

Speaker:

Hey, you know, why didn't you apologize?

Speaker:

And,

Speaker:

and Charlotte's like, well, I don't need to apologize.

Speaker:

And so basically they're outside of the, facility and they are arguing

Speaker:

in public about this whole thing.

Speaker:

And you know, it's like this whole, I'm sorry, not sorry, situation.

Speaker:

And then.

Speaker:

On top of it, Charlotte proceeds to yell and scream of poor Harry.

Speaker:

And then she doesn't realize that our friend, Lisa and her husband are

Speaker:

sitting in a bench right behind her.

Speaker:

And then she waves like, oh my God, how embarrassing?

Speaker:

Well, Charlotte, what are you doing, girlfriend?

Speaker:

Like, you got to like tone it down a bit.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So the next scene is with Miranda and Steve, and I just have to say,

Speaker:

I really can't watch the scene.

Speaker:

I mean, this scene was painful to watch.

Speaker:

I'm like, can we just fast forward this?

Speaker:

And Miranda obviously can't get any sex from Shea.

Speaker:

So she decides that maybe she should act.

Speaker:

Try to get some from Steve and their little sexcapade

Speaker:

was not fun to watch it all.

Speaker:

And honestly, it was downright awkward, and I just wanted to

Speaker:

close my eyes and fast forward to the next scene really quickly.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Moving on from that.

Speaker:

So then Carrie, decides to go on the state, you know, it's more so for research

Speaker:

purposes for her book, because her editor.

Speaker:

Literally forcing her into going on a date.

Speaker:

So she's like, oh, it's not a big deal.

Speaker:

It can't be that bad.

Speaker:

So Carrie is walking into, the restaurant and as you see her walking

Speaker:

down the street, she's got on this beautiful slinky baby blue dress, and

Speaker:

it's like a one shoulder and she's got A double-breasted blazer and it's

Speaker:

got this satin, like shiny fabric.

Speaker:

And then of course she has on her stiletto heels.

Speaker:

Her hair is back in a bun and her makeup looks good.

Speaker:

so she finds her date, Peter, and then she sits down and it's kind

Speaker:

of awkward for a bit because Peter doesn't really talk right away.

Speaker:

Doesn't say anything and takes them a moment.

Speaker:

And they're just kind of staring at each other.

Speaker:

Like, are you going to say something?

Speaker:

Then he takes off his glasses.

Speaker:

And says that his wife recently passed away.

Speaker:

So Carrie, did you really have to pick someone?

Speaker:

Who's also lost somebody to go on a first date with the state's

Speaker:

not going to be too much fun?

Speaker:

No wonder Carrie says, can we get drinks please?

Speaker:

Cause she knows that this is going to be a painful date without drinks.

Speaker:

But the thing about drinks is that one drink.

Speaker:

Wasn't going to cut it to have the conversations that they

Speaker:

were going to have to have.

Speaker:

So they had one drink after another and maybe a couple of shots.

Speaker:

And they were pretty lit when they walked outside of this restaurant and

Speaker:

they had way too many cocktails and they seem to be having an okay time until.

Speaker:

Her date pretty much barfed on her expensive and gorgeous shoes.

Speaker:

And that moment, that date did not go well.

Speaker:

And that was just even horrible to watch.

Speaker:

So episode seven, I don't know what's going on, but I am not

Speaker:

loving seeing all these things.

Speaker:

So in the next scene, everyone is at a charity event that Lisa

Speaker:

and her husband are hosting.

Speaker:

And then Charlotte's there with Harry and Charlotte says,

Speaker:

sorry to one of her friends.

Speaker:

And Harry has still not recovered from Charlotte, not apologizing the other day

Speaker:

for knocking him over on the tennis court.

Speaker:

So Harry catches that and Harry's not going to let go.

Speaker:

And he's like, well, how come you apologize to your friend,

Speaker:

but you won't apologize to me.

Speaker:

And he's like, you know, I just don't think that it's fair.

Speaker:

And I think Harry, I mean, you might just have to accept it.

Speaker:

I really don't think Charlotte's going to apologize to you.

Speaker:

And in this case, Charlotte explains to her.

Speaker:

That woman go around apologizing all the time to the entire

Speaker:

world for every damn thing.

Speaker:

And tennis is the one place where she doesn't need to go and apologize.

Speaker:

So interesting.

Speaker:

Very interesting perspective, because now that she puts it that way, I have

Speaker:

to say, Charlotte, you do have a point.

Speaker:

You have a point when it comes to that, because there's so many times.

Speaker:

Women are always apologizing to people for things that they should

Speaker:

not even be apologizing for.

Speaker:

And I think that as a society, we have to work on that and we

Speaker:

have to become better at that.

Speaker:

And we should only be apologizing for things that we truly did wrong.

Speaker:

Like, don't apologize for every little thing because what's going to happen.

Speaker:

Especially if you do that in corporate America, it's going to make you look weak.

Speaker:

And when you look.

Speaker:

You're going to be the weak link and you might even get taken advantage of.

Speaker:

So remember, you've got to set the stage and you've got to set the stage so that

Speaker:

you're not going to be walked all over.

Speaker:

And so maybe this is a lesson that you can learn from listening to episode seven

Speaker:

of and just like that fans' podcast.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Moving on.

Speaker:

so side note, before we move on, Charlotte's got a little story

Speaker:

here and if it could be even more interesting, Charlotte says as Demi

Speaker:

Lovato would say, sorry, not sorry.

Speaker:

Charlotte.

Speaker:

I do have to say that you are stepping up your game in episode seven because

Speaker:

you're being a little bit more interesting than kind of like your.

Speaker:

I have to do everything within the roles, kind of mind frame.

Speaker:

And it's a little bit shocking.

Speaker:

And I think even here he is shocked because Harry is not

Speaker:

used to you acting this way.

Speaker:

So I think this is a whole new Charlotte.

Speaker:

And I wonder Charlotte, if all of this is happening because she got this new

Speaker:

friend and maybe you are trying to be like her, maybe you're influenced by her.

Speaker:

I don't know, but it just.

Speaker:

And I actually feel bad for Harry because he's at this charity event

Speaker:

and they have all these items that they're auctioning off and he says out

Speaker:

loud, are there any couples counseling sessions that I could bid on here?

Speaker:

So Harry hang in there, things will get better.

Speaker:

some Miranda's at this event and she's talking to Carrie about her sex life

Speaker:

with Steve, and she basically describes it as a patient being non-responsive.

Speaker:

That's really not what you want to hear when it comes to SCX.

Speaker:

So, I think that Miranda, you and Steve and the whole.

Speaker:

Sex thing.

Speaker:

I don't think that's going to go anywhere.

Speaker:

Even the marriage thing is not going anywhere.

Speaker:

I don't know why you're even there with them.

Speaker:

So we'll see what happens.

Speaker:

Oh, Miranda.

Speaker:

I don't think your marriage is going to be a real marriage anytime soon.

Speaker:

So you might have to think of going your separate ways and maybe looking

Speaker:

for a marriage that comes with this.

Speaker:

so at this charity event, Lisa's husband is the MC and he's quite

Speaker:

irritated with her that he has to keep telling her to put the microphone up

Speaker:

to her face so that the audience at the event can hear what she's saying.

Speaker:

And they know what items to bit off.

Speaker:

And I think he's had to tell her, like so many times he's

Speaker:

just so irritated with her.

Speaker:

You can't blame him.

Speaker:

And then just like that guess who comes to rescue the mic?

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

It is Che chase, supposed to be performing at the event and she

Speaker:

opens up with a one-liner and she says, oh, since you're not using the

Speaker:

microphone, I'll just take it from you.

Speaker:

That was a good one.

Speaker:

But wait, hold on.

Speaker:

Veranda was busy talking to Carrie, but then Miranda realizes that Shay's here.

Speaker:

And when Miranda hears her voice, she's like, oh, she's performing.

Speaker:

And she leaves Carrie in mid sentence in prances over to where she is.

Speaker:

And she couldn't even wait half a second to say.

Speaker:

let's talk about this later.

Speaker:

I mean, she's just like, oh my God.

Speaker:

Like there she is.

Speaker:

And just like that, if the party couldn't get worse, Carrie sees

Speaker:

her date from the other night, Mr.

Speaker:

Barf guy, and she puts her head down and she's trying to hide.

Speaker:

Anthony comes over and she's telling Anthony about the situation.

Speaker:

And for those of us who live in a big city, it is quite common

Speaker:

to run into an ex-boyfriend.

Speaker:

And even in a pandemic, you may run into them and even with a mask on, you might

Speaker:

think, oh, they might recognize me.

Speaker:

So have you ever seen one of your Xs at the grocery store and just decided

Speaker:

that you have to go hide or you have to go run to a different aisle

Speaker:

further away, so he doesn't see you?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

True story.

Speaker:

I've had to do.

Speaker:

During a pandemic.

Speaker:

And I was like, no, no, no, I do not want to see this guy.

Speaker:

So let me just kind of sneak from the aisles and see what

Speaker:

direction he's going in.

Speaker:

And let me go to the other side of the grocery store.

Speaker:

Let me not go check out until he's gone.

Speaker:

I know you guys have had that happen too, but, uh, life in a big city and

Speaker:

I'm sure in a small town, it would be just the same when it comes to.

Speaker:

and you got to love how Carrie just sends Anthony on this little field trip

Speaker:

to make sure that our date from the other night leaves the building he's

Speaker:

gone so that she can have a sense of.

Speaker:

But Anthony failed the test, which you will find out later.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So then Miranda goes over to where she is, but she's talking to some of

Speaker:

her fans and she does notice her, but I think Miranda is feeling insecure

Speaker:

because she did not immediately come over to her, but she did notice her and.

Speaker:

Then when Miranda walks away, Shay excuses herself from talking

Speaker:

to the fans and she comes over to Miranda and says, Hey, Rambo.

Speaker:

But the problem is at this point, Miranda is just feeling a certain

Speaker:

way about the whole situation.

Speaker:

And she begins to act a little weird.

Speaker:

She's basically being very short and very cold and, you

Speaker:

know, she's like pretty smart.

Speaker:

So she's like, okay, well, you know, what's with this

Speaker:

attitude, like what's going on.

Speaker:

And then Miranda's like, oh, I called an Uber already.

Speaker:

And basically shake questions, Miranda and Miranda response.

Speaker:

Well, IDM you, but I never heard from you.

Speaker:

And Shay says that, well, I get a lot of DMS and you know,

Speaker:

I, I must have not seen it.

Speaker:

And I don't even remember what happened yesterday, because most of the time,

Speaker:

smoking pot and she's like, I don't remember what happens yesterday.

Speaker:

Let alone in three months.

Speaker:

so then Shay says, well, you know, you could have, you could have DMD me again.

Speaker:

And I thought that was interesting that she said that because I don't

Speaker:

know, like, I guess of Miranda has like any sense of self-respect and pride.

Speaker:

Maybe she shouldn't be chasing.

Speaker:

But then you're kind of saying that she should be chasing you.

Speaker:

So, I mean, I don't know, I think that it's two-sided right.

Speaker:

And I think that if, if she did reach out to you and even if you

Speaker:

never got her a message, if you were interested in Miranda, you could

Speaker:

have reached out to her as well.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And I just think that I don't know, ashamed.

Speaker:

Do you just want to be chased like a.

Speaker:

And then Shane tells Miranda that she wants to go somewhere with her

Speaker:

and take off all of her clothes.

Speaker:

And Miranda's like, oh my Uber's here.

Speaker:

And they get an Uber together.

Speaker:

So basically they ended up hooking up and that was that.

Speaker:

And then, so in the next scene, Charlotte and Harry are on their way

Speaker:

to the restroom, at the charity event and Lisa and her husband are arguing

Speaker:

those time tables turn interesting.

Speaker:

So now basically they're the couple that everyone's going to

Speaker:

be like, oh, you're that couple.

Speaker:

So I'm sure Charlotte and Harry are a little bit relieved that

Speaker:

they're no longer the couple.

Speaker:

And while all of this is going on, Anthony is trying to discreetly

Speaker:

escort carry outside of the event before she gets spotted by Mr.

Speaker:

Puke.

Speaker:

And of course, miss goody two-shoes Charlotte has to stop her and

Speaker:

say, oh, you can't leave now.

Speaker:

Like, why are you going?

Speaker:

And just as they're having this conversation, Is actually part

Speaker:

of the auction and she is supposed to be auctioned off as a date.

Speaker:

And, basically they announced it as a date with sex writer, Carrie bread.

Speaker:

you know, Kerry's a little bit ticked that this is how they are presenting this.

Speaker:

So it's not even a lunch date, they're saying a date and then they're calling

Speaker:

her sex writer and it just not how she wanted to be perceived for this auction.

Speaker:

And so she's a little pissed off at Charlotte of how they

Speaker:

positioned the whole package.

Speaker:

That's going to be auctioned off.

Speaker:

And Charlotte says, well, I was only on the gathering committee

Speaker:

and I wasn't on the program.

Speaker:

Charlotte, you always have an answer for everything, don't you?

Speaker:

My dear.

Speaker:

And so then the auctioneer comes on and he says, oh Carrie, that's you.

Speaker:

I see you're right there.

Speaker:

Why don't you come up?

Speaker:

And you can tell from the look on Carrie's face, she really doesn't

Speaker:

want to, but then she has no choice.

Speaker:

So once again, she's gotten herself in this predicament where she

Speaker:

has to go up and she has to do something she doesn't want to do.

Speaker:

Oh, Carrie, I feel free to girl.

Speaker:

And it was interesting, the only person that bid on Carrie was

Speaker:

someone that raised her hand.

Speaker:

But actually they weren't raising her hand to bid on carry.

Speaker:

They were raising their hand to say that there's, a wet floor

Speaker:

or broken glass on the floor.

Speaker:

And so they weren't really bidding.

Speaker:

And then Anthony tells Charlotte that she'd better do something.

Speaker:

So Charlotte being Ms goody-goody and panicky panicky starts

Speaker:

bidding and she says $700.

Speaker:

And then she goes to 800.

Speaker:

And then the auctioneer says, Charlotte, now you're bidding against yourself.

Speaker:

Yeah, she sure is.

Speaker:

And then the wackiest thing happens because Carrie raises her hand

Speaker:

and she wants to bid a thousand dollars on her own package.

Speaker:

I mean, that's just interesting, but I get it because basically Kerry's

Speaker:

attitude is like, get me the hell out of here as fast as you can.

Speaker:

I don't want to be here any second longer.

Speaker:

And then out of the blue, Carrie gets a real bid for drum roll 1,050.

Speaker:

So you guys heard that right?

Speaker:

$50 more than she'd been on herself.

Speaker:

The guests of the bitter is it is not Mr.

Speaker:

Knight in shining armor.

Speaker:

It is Mr.

Speaker:

Puke from the night before.

Speaker:

So it's Mr.

Speaker:

Mathematician, AKA Mr.

Speaker:

Puke, her date from the other night that threw up on her sheet.

Speaker:

And he's telling her that she really doesn't have to go on a date

Speaker:

with him, but she was like, oh, I know, but you did bid and you

Speaker:

know, you don't have to pay for it.

Speaker:

I can just pay for it.

Speaker:

And then she decides, well, what the hell?

Speaker:

It's for charity?

Speaker:

It's for a good, cause I'll just go on a lunch date and I'll say

Speaker:

yes, and it can't be that bad.

Speaker:

And then in the last scene, Carrie walks into her apartment

Speaker:

and she gets a text message.

Speaker:

And it's Peter?

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Peter is his name.

Speaker:

This is the same guy we're talking about Mr.

Speaker:

Mathematician and Mr.

Speaker:

Puke by.

Speaker:

Let's just be a little more refined now because we've made fun of him and

Speaker:

we've done the fun and jokes, but she's going to have to meet him in real life.

Speaker:

So we need to be nice this time.

Speaker:

So Peter says, looking forward to date number two, and just like

Speaker:

that, Carrie found her a glimmer of.

Speaker:

Which is how episode seven opened up.

Speaker:

She was supposed to find that glimmer of hope.

Speaker:

And that is interesting.

Speaker:

That was the ending.

Speaker:

And then also it showed Carrie sitting at her laptop looking out the window.

Speaker:

But the difference is this time she found a glimmer of hope.

Speaker:
