Shownotes

Kaye David is a Jesus believer from the Philippines whose life is a testimony of God’s faithfulness, transformation, and answered prayer. From a young age, Kaye began seeking God deeply, and during her college years, she experienced a profound change in her heart and a renewed desire to know and serve Him.

Today, Kaye and her husband serve together in ministry as part of their church’s worship team and discipleship ministry. They mentor leaders and facilitate multiple life groups for young people, adults, and young professionals, with a heart to help others grow in their relationship with God.

Kaye shares how God has transformed her own life and used her experiences to encourage young people who are searching for truth, identity, and hope. She also celebrates God’s faithfulness through the birth of her son and the transformation she witnessed in her husband’s life after years of prayer.

Her message is simple but powerful: Jesus is enough, God is faithful, and what may look like a challenge can become an opportunity to witness another miracle from God. Kaye encourages others not to give up, reminding them that God is not finished with their lives yet.

Our prayer is that this listening space brings growth and transforms your life forever.

Speaker:

Praise God for you, Kay.

Speaker:

It's a great pleasure to connect with you.

Speaker:

What part of the world are you in today?

Speaker:

I'm here in the Philippines.

Speaker:

How did you come to meet Jesus, Kay?

Speaker:

Oh, since when I was a teenager about college years, I was just wondering why when I was on my high school days, I don't like men.

Speaker:

Yeah, I like women.

Speaker:

You know, I'm, I'm a girl, but I don't like men, just same girls.

Speaker:

So I was like, looking forward, like, how does God change my heart?

Speaker:

And so when I started my college years, we have this group, we call it a cell group or a life group, where we talk about God.

Speaker:

And then when I started to open my heart, just, just, it just came that one day, I just woke up and everything changed.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And it's like, yeah, that's the beginning of my story.

Speaker:

How old were you?

Speaker:

I'm 28 now.

Speaker:

And how old were you when you experienced this miracle?

Speaker:

When I was 16, during my college years.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Was that something that was frowned upon by your friends and family that you were not seeking boys at that time?

Speaker:

Oh, not really.

Speaker:

It's just that during those days, I was really seeking God.

Speaker:

I was really seeking what is the truth, what, who God really is.

Speaker:

I want to experience more about Him, seeking more.

Speaker:

I want to experience His blessings, His love.

Speaker:

And so when I started to do devotionals, waking up to in the morning, I feel that fire in my heart.

Speaker:

I was just, I can still remember those times that I was just crying and I feel so hot.

Speaker:

And you know that those presence really satisfies my life.

Speaker:

And so up to that time until now, I'm still here, because I know that all I need is Jesus in my life.

Speaker:

That is absolutely amazing.

Speaker:

Now, this podcast is edited, so we can't cut things out and put things together.

Speaker:

When you say you like girls, are you speaking from a perspective of what happens with same-sex marriages?

Speaker:

Is that what you're talking about?

Speaker:

Like, lesbianism?

Speaker:

Yeah, during my high school days.

Speaker:

I was even into a relationship with, I've experienced in, I've experienced having a relationship with same-sex during those high school years.

Speaker:

I've got into three relationships.

Speaker:

Was it frowned upon in your community?

Speaker:

Is it something that people would basically complain about and suggest that you do not follow that lifestyle?

Speaker:

Is that how it is in your community?

Speaker:

Or is it not?

Speaker:

Is it an okay thing?

Speaker:

I mean, in Philippines in those years, it's not really normal and it's not open yet.

Speaker:

So I was just hiding.

Speaker:

You know that maybe I'm into my identity crisis.

Speaker:

I'm not really sure who I was.

Speaker:

And I'm not really sure my worth and value of those times.

Speaker:

And this is a testimony that you're giving now across the Philippines.

Speaker:

You are sharing that this was important for you to change into someone who actually appreciates and likes boys.

Speaker:

Is that what I'm getting here?

Speaker:

Actually, it's still just one of my testimonies, but it's not really the main part of this testimony.

Speaker:

But it is one of your testimonies that you share and you do that unashamedly.

Speaker:

You don't do that.

Speaker:

Yeah, because this is the one thing that God did to me.

Speaker:

Hmm.

Speaker:

That is amazing that you've had that experience.

Speaker:

Yeah, that's amazing.

Speaker:

So do you speak to other young women about your experience?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

You know, now I'm already married and I have a one year old son.

Speaker:

And it's really amazing because my husband and I are both in a ministry and we opened life groups.

Speaker:

And it's just amazing because the disciples that we have are like gays.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So I think God let me experience those years so I can have my own testimony to these young people nowadays.

Speaker:

Hmm.

Speaker:

I call it a miracle.

Speaker:

Do you call it a miracle as well?

Speaker:

Yeah, of course.

Speaker:

I don't.

Speaker:

Because I was like, how did?

Speaker:

Because we both know only God can do that.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Totally agree.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So tell me about your husband and the ministry that you all are having.

Speaker:

Tell me more about that, please.

Speaker:

My husband and I are both in a ministry.

Speaker:

We are both in a worship team.

Speaker:

So we are both doing service at the church.

Speaker:

And we are we are also both in the ministry of discipleship.

Speaker:

We mentor leaders.

Speaker:

We make leaders for God's glory.

Speaker:

And we also have life groups every single day.

Speaker:

And different life groups, young people, adults, young professionals.

Speaker:

And in total, we even, in God's grace, we handle three life groups for now.

Speaker:

So like one life group, we have about 20 disciples.

Speaker:

The other life group, we have about another 20, I guess.

Speaker:

And the other, we have five and three disciples.

Speaker:

And we're praying that in God's grace, we can sustain and, you know, keep that, keep that desire in our hearts.

Speaker:

And we're really praying that we will not get caught in these questions.

Speaker:

Tell me about your son.

Speaker:

What was that like, having your first child?

Speaker:

Oh, pardon?

Speaker:

What was it like having your first child?

Speaker:

Oh, another, another testimony.

Speaker:

You know, when I was in college, I have this code, my child about prolapse.

Speaker:

And when I was in high school, I had my, my ortho ortho doctor, he said that I must, maybe I should not have a son or I should not have a kid because I have a scoliosis.

Speaker:

And my cardiologist said I have a mitral valve prolapse.

Speaker:

I even had, I was even diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which the doctor said, I could lead to infertility.

Speaker:

It would, I have even retroverted uterus where it would be hard to me to have a baby.

Speaker:

And you know, the miracle thing is I did have a baby and they, the doctor said it will be hard for me to have a baby.

Speaker:

So I need to have a cesarean section.

Speaker:

And yeah, we scheduled a cesarean section, but God did amazing.

Speaker:

He did not allow the cesarean section.

Speaker:

He allowed me to give birth normally.

Speaker:

So I just have like two pushes.

Speaker:

So I cannot relate to 50 for 50, 50 pains or, Oh, I would die.

Speaker:

No, God just did it easily for me.

Speaker:

Just two pushes, three hours labor.

Speaker:

And yeah, it all happens together for, because of God's faithfulness.

Speaker:

You're a living, walking miracle machine, aren't you?

Speaker:

Wow.

Speaker:

Glory to God.

Speaker:

Have you ever witnessed any miracles as a result of the ministry that you're doing?

Speaker:

Have you seen other people experience miracles?

Speaker:

I do.

Speaker:

My husband, you know, my husband and I, when I was, when we were in a relationship of being girlfriend and boyfriend, he is not really a Christian.

Speaker:

He is still drinking alcohol, being his friends, you know, this kind of thing.

Speaker:

He doesn't, I, I talked to him about the Bible, but he didn't really listen.

Speaker:

I, you know, for five years, we've been in a relationship, but nothing happened.

Speaker:

All I just do is to pray, pray for a miracle, cry, beg for God.

Speaker:

And then one day it happens.

Speaker:

God caught him, God caught him.

Speaker:

And then he changed him.

Speaker:

We people cannot change people.

Speaker:

Only God can.

Speaker:

So I believe that is the greatest miracle that I have now.

Speaker:

My husband who is also doing the ministry and he is now planning to be a pastor and I'm really blessed to, to, to, to know that I am now living my prayers.

Speaker:

So yeah.

Speaker:

Absolutely amazing.

Speaker:

What is the biggest challenge of ministry over there?

Speaker:

Oh, the biggest challenge of ministry, maybe for now we are praying for the increase of tithes, increase of income.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Because we are handling young people, a lot of young people.

Speaker:

We know we, when we do Bible studies, life groups, we provide food, especially for those families who are not, who are in need.

Speaker:

So every month we provide like rice foods, you know?

Speaker:

So we are really praying for the increase, increase of income.

Speaker:

I don't really call it a challenge, but I call it like a thing for me.

Speaker:

It's a room for me to experience another miracle again from God.

Speaker:

Before, when I became a Christian, I, all I do is complain and think like everything is going to mess up.

Speaker:

But when I, when, when God changed my heart, all I can see is opportunities, not a challenge, but an opportunity for me to see how God surprises me, how God answers like problems like that.

Speaker:

And so I guess, yeah, that's, that's it for now.

Speaker:

And, and maybe because of the society, it's also a challenging thing to, to, to get young people, because these days it's very unnormal to do like suicide.

Speaker:

So it's really important that we, the gospel would reach them.

Speaker:

So I'm still looking forward to how will God do to their, uh, on their lives.

Speaker:

If you're listening to this conversation five years from today, of course it will be the recording, right?

Speaker:

What's a message you'd leave for future Ki David?

Speaker:

You're doing great.

Speaker:

Um, you're a great man.

Speaker:

You're a great wife.

Speaker:

God already told you, you're a good servant.

Speaker:

And I pray that you would continue, pray that you, I know that five years from now, you are, your heart is still burning desires to serve God, to glorify his name in all your ways.

Speaker:

Every day, your son is already five, five year old, six years old already.

Speaker:

And he's already part also of the children ministry and he's doing great.

Speaker:

And your husband is already a pastor and you already have a lot of life groups and you already use your life to help other people be led to God and also use their lives for the glory of the Lord.

Speaker:

And I know that what you pray now, you already have it five years and, um, I pray that, and I want to remind you that God will always love you.

Speaker:

He will always be there for you and he will always remain faithful forever.

Speaker:

So yeah, keep going and just do your best.

Speaker:

So thank you.

Speaker:

You're welcome.

Speaker:

This is an honor.

Speaker:

In closing, is there anything else you'd like to share?

Speaker:

Oh yeah.

Speaker:

I just wanted to say that it's really a privilege for me to be here with you.

Speaker:

Um, I just wanted to say thank you for being also an instrument of this world on people to share their testimonies of how God is faithful.

Speaker:

And I just want to tell everyone that no matter what season you are, we know that we only need Jesus.

Speaker:

Having a house, having a car, having everything we pray are already just a bonus.

Speaker:

Just having a Jesus in our heart, in our lives, it's already everything.

Speaker:

So praise God, glorify him and use your life for his greater glory and do not give up because God is not yet done in your life.

Speaker:

So thank you.

Speaker:

You're welcome.

Speaker:

Okay, this is a pleasure.

Speaker:

I treasure.

Speaker:

Thank you for being on What is Inspired by 12 Minute Convo.
