Welcome back. Quick heads up before we dive in: this one's shorter than usual, not a Jesus Smart 180, just a tighter full-length episode.

Today we're looking at a sequence buried in the wilderness camp of Israel. The Old Testament is full of precedents and protocols that find their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ and the New Covenant, meaning in our lives on this side of the cross, the resurrection, and the ascension.

One of those protocols is a kingdom dynamic we could call praise, then discernment, then warfare, in that order. It's a pattern that shows up again and again in Scripture, and it's just as available to us now, in a heightened sense, through Christ and the New Covenant, as it was to the tribes of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

A Kingdom Protocol for Good Success

God prescribed, in detail, how the nation of Israel was to encamp around the tabernacle in the wilderness, and in what order the tribes were to journey whenever they broke camp.

Three tribes camped north, three east, three south, three west. The three camped to the east were Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun, and whenever the camp moved, whether journeying or heading into battle, Judah went first, then Issachar, then Zebulun.

Judah was uniquely anointed for worship. The name itself means praise, and Judah was marked as the tribe through which kingship and worship would flow. Jesus was from the tribe of Judah.

Issachar excelled in prophetic discernment; 1 Chronicles 12 says they had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.

Zebulun excelled in battle: skilled, disciplined, primed for war, expert with every weapon, stouthearted men who could keep ranks.

Praise first. Discernment second. Warfare third.

Reordering Your Next Move

That's not just a wilderness protocol. It's a kingdom sequence for how we initiate and move in faith today. Always lead with praise, always lead with focus on King Jesus and seeking his kingdom first. Then follow with prophetic discernment, call it God-tel or intel, the sons of Issachar understanding the times and what you ought to do. Only then are you ready for Zebulun: warfare, practical action, moving out.

A good question to ask: what's on the other side of this order for you? What needs resetting right now?

Maybe it's a new season from God you desperately need, or showing forth his excellencies in one of three domains: work and finance, relational life, or wellness. What's pending from heaven's point of view for you?

Father, we thank you for this kingdom protocol, and for the Old Testament precedents that find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ and the New Covenant, this side of the ascension. Whatever horizons we're looking at, whatever opportunities are before us, whatever challenges we're facing, inspire us to lead with worship and focus on King Jesus and his royal authority. Help us, like the sons of Issachar, to carry prophetic discernment, God-tel from your points of view rising within us. And then, under a spirit of might, help us do warfare and move out in applied, faith-filled action. I pray this over my brothers and sisters in Christ, and over my own life. We want to show up in full-spectrum faith and full agency in your kingdom. We thank you for it, Lord. In your name, amen.

And of course that's us on this side of the Ascension.

And one of those protocols had to do with the way that God in detail prescribed the nation of Israel when they were in the wilderness with the tent, the tabernacle, how they were to encamp around the tent and in what order the tribes were to journey, when they would break camp and move, what was the sequence, what tribes were to lead the way.

And so three tribes were to camp to the north of the tent Three to the east, three to the south and three the west.

Now the three to the east of the tent were Judah, Issachar and Zebulun.

And God in detail prescribed that when the camp was to break camp and move out, whether that be in journeying or even into battle, Judah was to go first, then Issachar and Zebulun.

What is this saying to us?

Well, Judah was uniquely anointed with worship.

The name actually means praise.

And Judah was marked as a tribe that led in worship and through which kingship was would flow.

Jesus was from the tribe of Judah.

Then Issachar excelled in prophetic discernment.

It says in 1st Chronicles 12 that they had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do.

And then Zebulun excelled in battle.

They were skilled, disciplined.

They were primed for war.

They were expert in war with all weapons of war, stout hearted men who could keep ranks.

Now God prescribed that when they moved Judah first, then Issachar and Zebulun and the other tribes would fall into alignment again.

What is this saying?

This is a kingdom sequence for how we are to initiate and move in faith today.

Always lead with praise.

Always lead with focus upon King Jesus.

Always lead with seeking the kingdom first and with praise.

And then follow with prophetic discernment.

We could call it God tell or intel the sons of Issachar understanding the times and what Israel ought to do.

And then you're ready for battle, Zebulun.

You're ready to do warfare and to take practical action and move out.

Praise first, discernment second, warfare third.

There's a kingdom order to this.

And I think a good question to ask yourself is what's on the other side of this kingdom order for you?

What do you need to reset in your life right now with this order?

It could be a new season from God, even something that's desperately needed.

It could be showing forth the excellencies of God in one of the three main life domains.

Work and finance, our relational life or wellness.

You know what's pending right now from heaven's point of view for you.

This order, this protocol I believe is key.

Father, we thank you for the kingdom protocol that we see here.

We thank you for the precedents in the Old Testament which find their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ and in the new covenant this side of the Ascension and we pray for this one right now.

Lord, praise prophetic discernment and warfare in action.

Whatever horizons we're looking at, whatever opportunities are before us, Father, whatever challenges we are facing down, Father, inspire us.

Motivate us to lead with worship and focus upon King Jesus and in executing his royal authority.

Lord, help us to have like the sons of Issachar prophetic discernment.

God, tell intel from above points of view that you have.

May that more and more rise within us.

And then help us, God, under a spirit of might to do warfare and to move out in battle and to take applied action in our faith.

I pray this for my brothers and sisters in Christ.

I pray this over my own life.

We want to show up right now in full spectrum faith and full agency in your kingdom.

We thank you for it, Lord, in your name.

Amen.
