Shownotes

Some entrepreneurs never really set out to lead a team. They find themselves backing into leading. Others set out with the goal of building a team. Regardless of the catalyst, the best entrepreneurs are not passionate about the technicality of their solution, but rather about the problem they are trying to solve in the world. Without both passion for the solution and for people and their growth, any leader is not going to be as effective as they desire to be.

In this episode, I talk with Chip Neidigh, founder and CEO of Kairos all about the joy and passion of leading. Through Chip’s work coaching CEOs, he has observed and learned much from others and much about himself. Our discussion wove through how success is what sells, what it’s like to let others take the lead, embracing peace, learning through self-observation, and more. I hope the wisdom shared in this interview elevates your perspective as much as it did mine.

“When you are most vulnerable, you are most influential.” -- Chip Neidigh

Chip is the founder and CEO of Kairos. One of Chip’s leadership philosophies says, “The kind truth can hurt, but it’s better than remaining in blissful, ineffective ignorance.”

This philosophy is the underpinning of Kairos. They adhere to 3 cores:

  1. They start with you, the CEO. You are the most important part of the problem, and therefore the most important part of the solution.
  2. The kind truth hurts. Their commitment is to tell you the truth, as best they understand it. This can sting.
  3. You get unmetered access. You are not paying for time, you are paying for results.

About Chip, in his own words:

I am drawn to those who seek to improve the world by influencing others, to “punch holes in the darkness”. My passions, gifts, and experiences align to support my specific vocational calling: I build leaders.  Although I was educated in technical and linear disciplines (engineering, finance, and IT), my passions are in the more chaotic disciplines of the human soul (leadership, transformation, and maturation).
