The Psalmist. Psalm 13:5, 6. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 22 of 30 Days of Psalms. God’s mercy, the Psalmist asserts, can be counted on. It is unchanging, unshifting. It is the same today as it was yesterday—and it will be the same tomorrow. Our fearful hearts can find perfect rest in it. Our comfort, safety, and hope are anchored in the reality of God’s unchanging—good—character. I like this word ‘bountifully’. It reflects the generosity of divine love. As I read the passage it keeps grabbing my attention, because somehow for me, it captures the wonder that God treats me—us—not as we deserve, but out of his infinite mercy.
