Today I speak with Michelle Shekhinah author of the book “From the Floor to the Door”. This is the first in a series about domestic violence which is a big problem that goes silent when a person Is trapped and dependent in a relationship.
In 1997, Michelle married who she thought was her fairytale, knight in shining armor. After having a successful business and 2 children, she was a stay-at-home Mom for many years in suburbia.
In 2014, her life started to unravel. Things escalated quickly, and the next thing she knew, she was being sexually abused by her husband, which turned into her husband sex-trafficking her to his friends.
Michelle spent many nights crying on the floor of her home, realizing that she was in a very dangerous situation. With fear running through her body, and hope in her heart, she ran for the door and got out.
Listen to her story. Which is probably occurring throughout what appears on the outside as normal suburban lives.
After a bold move to leave her home and her life and sill take care of her dependent children, she became an advocate and mentor for other women and teens that have experienced any form of trauma and abuse. You can contact her from her website if you are struggling in a similar situation. A simple email may be enough to change your life for the better.
