Shownotes

Many real estate agents fail to make the leap into growing a business because they try doing it alone. Why is it so important to get out of doing every single task yourself? How do we build a system in a way that makes it easier to bring someone else into it? What are some of the mistakes often made in the transition from agent to entrepreneur? On this episode, I’m joined by Adam Dow who shares his business growth journey and how he’s also grown as a leader in the process.

You’re a better Realtor if you’ve got the processes and the person helping you do the things that come up on a daily basis. -Adam Dow

3 Things We Learned From This Episode

How defining roles and tasks for team members improves the service (13:12 - 13:52)

A lot of agents say they do everything, but they really don’t and end up passing tasks to other people. If you set up specific set roles for people on your team, and they know what’s expected, your team will deliver a level of service higher than the people who say they do everything themselves.

The power of leading by example (22:05 - 22:22)

The business is a reflection of you, and you can’t expect your team members to do what you’re not doing first. If you’re disorganized, your business will be disorganized. If you don’t set a high standard for yourself, your team won’t do it either.

How to diversify your lead generation so you stand out (29:38 - 30:22)

Don’t just focus on the marketing activities everyone is doing because that means you won’t be different, and you won’t get noticed. In order to really stand out, try out marketing tactics that aren’t as flooded.

The majority of agents don’t have an assistant, and that makes it hard and even impossible to run it as a business. It’s tough to do real estate and have more than one listing while you’re doing it on your own. Not having an assistant means you won’t be able to systematize anything, you won’t be able scale your business, and you’ll have no time to work on the business because you’re too busy putting out the fires that arise from each transaction. This keeps you in a loop that means your business won’t move forward, and you’ll never attain real freedom.
