Heirs of God’s Glory – Meditation Monday

Meditation Monday

Wisdom – the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1234 of our trek, and it is time for Meditation Monday. Taking time to relax, refocus, and reprioritize our lives is crucial in order to create a living legacy.

For you, it may just be time alone for quiet reflection. You may utilize structured meditation practices. In my life, meditation includes reading and reflecting on God’s Word and praying. It is a time to renew my mind, refocus on what is most important, and make sure that I am nurturing my soul, mind, and body. As you come along with me on our trek each Meditation Monday, it is my hope and prayer that you, too, will experience a time for reflection and renewing of your mind.

So many people today have a poor and incorrect image of themselves. We are God’s children, and as such, to consider ourselves worthless is to indicate that God is not worthy. In our meditation today, let us consider…

Heirs of God’s Glory

Romans 8:16-18 makes it perfectly clear what our standing is before God if we are Christ-followers, “For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ, we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.”

We really do share God’s glory, but as this verse also tells us, that does not mean we will be free of trials and suffering. Trials and sufferings are part of life, and we should never feel that because we have trials and sufferings that we are not loved by God or lose our standing as His children. You are loved by God and considered valuable. God created humans to be his family over the earthly domain. He also created heavenly beings to be part of his family over His heavenly domain.

Our standing in God’s Kingdom is based solely on our belief in Him and our acceptance of Him. If you were a child of a human king, even if you were adopted, based on your heritage, you would possess certain rights and privileges that are part of that heritage. In the same manner, as an adopted child of God, we are joint-heirs with Christ Jesus. We inherit and share God’s glory. Since that is the case, we can boldly approach God as his child as Ephesians 3:12 says, “Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.”

There is no reason to feel worthless; you can be confident and bold because we are kingdom builders here on earth for God’s kingdom. This is not something that we lord over others, but humbly realize that your worth is solely rooted in you because God is worthy. Even when you have times of trials and struggles, you can still be confident as a child of the King that he will take care of every need that you have, as Hebrews 4:16 says, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

One reason that many people struggle with loving others properly is that they do not have a proper love for themselves. They do not understand the great love that God has for them. So when someone else (or your own self-talk) puts you down, hold your head high, with humility, knowing in your heart of hearts that indeed you are worthy. Since our worth is based in God, give Him the glory and honor that is His and remember we are heirs of God’s glory. Then we can proclaim  Revelation 4:11, “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

You are worthy because God is worthy, and He has passed it onto us as our inheritance. Take time to meditate on this today.

That is a wrap for today’s meditation. Next week, we will continue our trek on Meditation Monday as we take time to reflect on what is most important in creating our living legacy. On tomorrow’s trek, we will explore another wisdom quote. This 3-minute wisdom supplement will assist you in becoming healthy, wealthy, and wise each day.
