If I had a dollar for every time a business owning mom said I did all the things on Instagram and it is still not working, I'm still not getting sales, I could probably pay off the emotional damage Instagram has caused all of us.
Speaker A:Honestly, today we are going to unpack something I really wish more people talked about.
Speaker A:Because if you've been pouring your energy into content, into your Instagram presence and feeling like you are just getting nothing back, you're not crazy, you're not doing it wrong.
Speaker A:But the strategy you were sold probably was.
Speaker A:And if no one has ever broken down what a real strategy looks like or how to make Instagram work without turning it into your second full time job, this episode is definitely for you.
Speaker A:And make sure you stick around until the end because I have a way to help.
Speaker A:Welcome to Mobpreneur Mastery where we are.
Speaker B:Building businesses and packing lunches and no, we're not doing it all, we're doing what matters.
Speaker B:I'm Sydney O'Brien, a certified Instagram strategist, mom of three and you are no fluff guide to making more sales on Instagram in the actual margins of your day.
Speaker B:I created these strategies while juggling a business, three kids under four and life with a deployed husband.
Speaker B:So if your life feels chaotic, you are not behind.
Speaker B:You are exactly who this was made for.
Speaker B:Around here, we ditch the hustle culture BS and focus on simple smart strategy that works.
Speaker B:If you are craving clarity, connection and content that converts without the overwhelm, you are in the right place.
Speaker A:Hello and welcome back to Mompreneur Mastery.
Speaker A:If you are new here, I am your host, Sidney O'Brien, certified Instagram strategist and a mom who is very familiar with trying to finish a caption while someone is yelling from the bathroom that we are out of toilet paper.
Speaker A:I want to kick off this episode with a super quick story.
Speaker A:Okay, One of my members, Inside Post with Purpose, sent me a screenshot recently of her Instagram insights and do you know what it showed?
Speaker A:At this point in time, she had only been in the membership one month and her external link clicks went up 25% in that one month.
Speaker A:25%.
Speaker A:And those external link clicks are going to her offers to her lead magnets to her long form content that is huge.
Speaker A:That makes these people really warm leads if not now buyers and clients.
Speaker A:Now you know I am not into vanity metrics, but this, this is an actionable metric and I am all about it.
Speaker A:This one really matters because that 25% increase in link clicks means people are actually doing something after they see your content.
Speaker A:They are not just scrolling past, they're not just watching you.
Speaker A:They're not just giving a double tap and then on to the next thing.
Speaker A:They are taking action.
Speaker A:Like heading to your lead magnet to go through a funnel, heading to your sales page to check out an offer or apply for your membership or coaching program, your discovery calls, whatever it is, they are getting closer to you and your brand and your offers.
Speaker A:And that is the whole point.
Speaker A:So if that is not what is happening for you right now, if you are putting in the time and the energy and still not seeing movement, this is the episode you need.
Speaker A:Because what's probably missing isn't your consistency, it's not your creativity, it's not your captions.
Speaker A:It is a strategy that actually fits your business and your real life.
Speaker A:Because honestly, content without strategy is like trying to bake a cake without a recipe.
Speaker A:I say this as a non baker, as someone who, if I don't write it down, I will absolutely forget it.
Speaker A:So maybe that analogy doesn't hit with you, but for me, I might have all the ingredients, but unless I look up the actual measurements, it's not going to be good.
Speaker A:If you don't know what you're making or how it's supposed to come together, you're going to end up with a not quite tasty mess.
Speaker A:And yes, this is how most moms are doing it.
Speaker A:Just because we're busy.
Speaker A:And not only are we busy, we are so tired and drained.
Speaker A:And I know I don't have any bandwidth to take on anything else in my life.
Speaker A:Okay?
Speaker A:In addition to finding shoes, having mountains of laundry to manage, mediating WWE style sibling fights.
Speaker A:All right, maybe that one's just my family, so please don't judge.
Speaker A:But on top of that and your actual work, you also have to show up on Instagram, right?
Speaker A:You're posting, you're trying the trends, the audios, the carousels, those viral hooks people share in their reels.
Speaker A:You're saving all the do this to grow carousels and probably have a few template packs sitting in your inbox right now.
Speaker A:But it's still not leading to clients or sales or even real engagement sometimes.
Speaker A:And here's why this matters so much.
Speaker A:Without a strategy, you're kind of just building content in a vacuum.
Speaker A:It might look good, you might get some views, might get some reach, you could have even a viral reel.
Speaker A:But if it doesn't tie into your offers, into your audience's actual needs or your goals, if it doesn't attract the right people, and guide them on that customer journey to make it so they end up actually buying from you or hiring you.
Speaker A:It doesn't super matter.
Speaker A:And then what happens next is what I see with so many mom business owners, they burn out.
Speaker A:They blame themselves.
Speaker A:They start to wonder if Instagram just doesn't work for people like them and write it off completely.
Speaker A:But the truth is, Instagram works when you know what role your content plays in the bigger picture of your business.
Speaker A:It works when your posts aren't just random, but strategic.
Speaker A:And I know that can sound overwhelming because like I said, I completely get that adding one more thing to your plate right now makes you want to scream into the abyss.
Speaker A:But I know that we can do it in a way that doesn't take up a ton of your brain space.
Speaker A:But it gets you those results that you need for your business, right?
Speaker A:Because you're already spending time on Instagram.
Speaker A:I want you to spend it in a way that actually gets results.
Speaker A:Honestly, I want you to spend less time doing it.
Speaker A:And you can when you have the strategy behind it, without sacrificing those sales and clients that you're supposed to be getting from Instagram, that you will be getting from Instagram.
Speaker A:So let's break down what that actually looks like.
Speaker A:Okay?
Speaker A:Because one, doing all the things without a strategy just means you're spinning your wheels.
Speaker A:You're showing up at least semi consistently.
Speaker A:I mean it.
Speaker A:Sometimes stuff happens.
Speaker A:I know I'm the day I'm recording this.
Speaker A:I haven't posted to instagram in like 4 days.
Speaker A:Nothing.
Speaker A:Not a real carousel story picture.
Speaker A:Nothing.
Speaker A:It happens and it's fine.
Speaker A:You get busy.
Speaker A:Maybe you've tried batching, maybe you've grabbed some cute templates, maybe you've done a reel or two, even if you cringe through it and still not getting DMs, not getting any clicks to your website, to your sales pages, and no clients or buyers.
Speaker A:You're doing what you think you're supposed to be doing.
Speaker A:But content without clarity won't convert.
Speaker A:Period.
Speaker A:I had another post with Purpose member come to me saying, I feel like I'm doing everything right, but it's not landing.
Speaker A:And we looked at her content together.
Speaker A:It was clear she was showing up.
Speaker A:But the connection to her offer was missing.
Speaker A:Her audience couldn't see how the topics of her content was connected to her offer.
Speaker A:Made a few tweaks.
Speaker A:Not big ones, just some small ones.
Speaker A:And she had a more structured plan for her content where everything was linked together and it flowed better.
Speaker A:Her audience was guided down that path to become buyers.
Speaker A:And she was talking more about her offer, who it was for, building trust in it, showing it worked, calling out those pain points, nothing major.
Speaker A:And then suddenly she was getting replies to her stories, people were saving her posts, and she was getting some applications to her group coaching program.
Speaker A:That is the response you get when your content actually clicks.
Speaker A:Strategy connects your content to your income.
Speaker A:Look, posting for visibility is totally fine.
Speaker A:It happens.
Speaker A:But if you're posting just to show up, it's not going to grow your business.
Speaker A:And if you're a busy mom, which most of my listeners are, you don't have time to waste on stuff that isn't actually helping your business.
Speaker A:Like I said before, if you're spending time on this, I want it to actually help you.
Speaker A:Like it's.
Speaker A:We don't have the time to waste on stuff that isn't getting us the results that we need.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:There's a million other things on your to do list other than Instagram.
Speaker A:Shocking.
Speaker A:Crazy.
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:Let's help you get back to those.
Speaker A:Strategy is the thing that turns your content into something that works for you.
Speaker A:It means you know the goal of a post before you even write it.
Speaker A:You have a clear path from your content to your offers, and you're making space for connection and conversion in your content.
Speaker A:Without that, you'll keep writing posts that sound good and look good, but they don't actually do anything, which sucks.
Speaker A:You don't have to feel pushy.
Speaker A:You don't have to feel fake and use your, like, pretend influencer voice.
Speaker A:You don't have to feel like you're tricking people into buying.
Speaker A:You're simply showing up and creating content that connects the dots for them and just inviting them in to your offers.
Speaker A:That's it.
Speaker A:It makes your offer the natural next step so it doesn't feel icky or pushy or salesy, like you're at a used car dealership and you know the cringe is there.
Speaker A:It's easy.
Speaker A:And then, you know, you have really qualified clients who are perfect for you and your brand and your offer and are going to get those results that they need to.
Speaker A:And then three.
Speaker A:Strategy saves time and brain space I mentioned this a little bit before, but it really is worth mentioning again because it might be the most important one, especially if you've got limited time to work in the first place, which I'm assuming you do.
Speaker A:I know I do.
Speaker A:My kids are home all day with me every day.
Speaker A:We have no childcare.
Speaker A:My husband works most of the time.
Speaker A:I don't have time to waste.
Speaker A:I have very little time to work.
Speaker A:So every minute I spend working I try so hard to make sure it is actually doing like revenue producing things.
Speaker A:And that is how this whole strategy came about.
Speaker A:Because when you don't have a strategy, you spend hours second guessing hours doing things that aren't going to help you get results, asking yourself should I post this?
Speaker A:Does this caption sound right?
Speaker A:Is this even relevant?
Speaker A:And that mental ping pong game that leads to content fatigue and burnout and then you end up doing nothing.
Speaker A:Your content should help you, not haunt you.
Speaker A:When you have the clear strategy and a plan for it, you can sit down, know exactly what kind of post you're creating and why, plug in your ideas and schedule it.
Speaker A:No spiral, no canva black hole, no endless googling or chatgpting trying to find that perfect post to share.
Speaker A:You can schedule some stuff, you get back to your life and you trust the system to do its job.
Speaker A:And honestly, that is what most of us want.
Speaker A:Not just more sales, but less stress.
Speaker A:Honestly, I've been doing it where I will plan out like a general idea of like topics that I need to hit to be able to have those five steps to sales in my content.
Speaker A:And then week by week I'll go in, take maybe an hour a week, create the posts around the content plan, schedule it and be done.
Speaker A:It makes it so my content has a plan.
Speaker A:I'm posting with purpose, I'm getting the sales, but I don't have to spend a ton of time batching and creating.
Speaker A:It makes it more bite sized and more doable for me because it's very hard to me to find large chunks of time to sit down and get a whole bunch done at once.
Speaker A:And I like doing it because then I can also kind of keep on top of any trends or new updates that I want to take advantage of.
Speaker A:So if Instagram has been feeling like a time sucking black hole, if you've been trying everything and still hearing crickets in the comments, in your DMs, in your business bank account, if you're wondering why it looks like it's working for everyone else but not for you, please please, please hear me when I say it is not your fault.
Speaker A:It's not that you're doing something wrong.
Speaker A:It's not that your content isn't good enough.
Speaker A:And it is definitely not that you're not working hard enough or aren't putting in enough time.
Speaker A:It's just that no one ever gave you the right plan and without it you will keep putting in effort and getting little in return.
Speaker A:You keep wondering what you're missing, even though you're already stretched so thin trying to keep up.
Speaker A:But you don't have to do that anymore.
Speaker A:Okay?
Speaker A:So if you're listening right now and thinking, all right, this is exactly what I have been missing, I want you to DM me the word strategy on Instagram because I want to know what's been feeling hard.
Speaker A:We can talk it out.
Speaker A:I can ask you a few questions to get a better sense of what's going on behind the scenes, and then I can give you some suggestions because you deserve more than content that looks good but leads nowhere.
Speaker A:You deserve a plan that makes Instagram feel easier and actually lead results.
Speaker A:And I would love to help you get there.
Speaker A:Okay, my handle is ocially.yours.
Speaker A:strategist.
Speaker A:Please note, like I said, very short on time.
Speaker A:It might take me a little bit to respond, but I do want to hear from you.
Speaker A:So send me a DM on Instagram.
Speaker A:My handle is ocially yours Strategist.
Speaker B:Thanks for hanging out with me on mompreneur Mastery.
Speaker A:If this episode helps you feel a.
Speaker B:Little more clear and a lot more capable, I would love it if you'd hit follow, leave a review, or share.
Speaker A:It with a fellow mom trying to.
Speaker B:Do it all and realizing she doesn't have to.
Speaker B:And hey, if you're feeling fired up, send me a DM on Instagram and tell me the one thing you're going to do differently.
Speaker B:After listening, I love hearing what is clicking for you.
Speaker B:My handle is ocially yours Strategist.
