David. Psalm 51:3, 4. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 26 of 30 Days of Prayer. For David, when he finally came to terms with the enormity of his actions, it wasn’t first because of the human impact of his evil actions, though those mattered to him, it was because he had betrayed his dearest friend, God. His grief was so deep, that in this moment, all he can see is the way his actions have impacted God. He is consumed with shame and the inner voices of condemnation and accusation. Wherever he turns, it seems he cannot escape their furry and disgust. He is an embarrassment to the throne, the nation, the human race. God. In this dark time he must have felt swallowed by the darkness. I imagine there were many sleepless nights—yet in his prayer, we see the pathway back into the light.
