Shownotes
In this episode, Ted is joined by Peter Evans and Brad Herda, where they discuss compliance and safety or loss prevention and safety, with a focus on checking boxes and ensuring compliance with regulations. They talk about shifting focus to making sure that accidents don't happen again by changing the culture around safety as well as safety as a dynamic process that is bigger than just checklists. They argue that the greatest danger during times of change is not the change itself, but rather the use of antiquated methods to deal with the change. Resilience is important to be able to adapt to changes as they come. Organizational structures need to be designed in a way that allows for adaptation and responsiveness in order for them to be resilient. Frontline workers are a big part of an organization's foundation for resilience. In today's business world, there is a lot of M&A activity, which can make it difficult to create a cohesive culture within an organization. Tune in to learn why safety professionals need to be aware of this and be prepared to help leaders navigate these challenges and discover why it is also important to trust your employees and give them the tools they need to be successful.
