David Spoon invites listeners into a profound exploration of faith and connection in today's experience. He emphasizes that our faith has a reputation, impacting not only our lives but also those around us, whether they recognize it or not. Through a discussion on the Book of Colossians, Spoon highlights the importance of thanksgiving and prayer, noting how Paul expressed gratitude for the believers in Colossae despite his imprisonment. This episode also touches on the significance of grace and peace from God, encouraging listeners to embody these principles in their daily interactions. Ultimately, Spoon inspires us to understand that our faith serves as a visible testament to the power of God in our lives, urging us to be aware of the influence we have on others.
In a captivating exploration of the Book of Colossians, David Spoon dives into the themes of faith, resilience, and community that resonate throughout Paul’s letter. Beginning with a thorough introduction to Colossians as one of the apostle's prison epistles, Spoon sets the stage for understanding the powerful context in which Paul wrote. He highlights Paul's unwavering spirit, noting how, despite being imprisoned, Paul focuses on gratitude and prayer for the believers in Colosse. This theme of thanksgiving becomes a central focus of the discussion, as Spoon emphasizes the importance of recognizing and celebrating the faith of others, even in challenging circumstances.
The episode also addresses the historical context of the Colossian church, where believers faced various doctrinal challenges, notably Gnosticism. Spoon explains how understanding these challenges provides meaningful insights into the text and its applications today. He draws parallels between the struggles of the early church and the modern-day experiences of believers, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own faith and how it is expressed within their communities. The conversation shifts towards the communal aspect of faith, where Spoon stresses that individual actions can greatly influence others. He urges listeners to consider how their lives serve as a testament to their faith, fostering an environment where the love of Christ is evident.
As the episode concludes, Spoon calls for an active engagement with God’s word and a commitment to living out one’s faith boldly. He inspires his audience to cultivate a deeper relationship with God through prayer and scripture while actively contributing to their communities. Highlighting the transformative power of grace and peace, Spoon leaves listeners with a profound understanding of their role as part of the larger body of Christ, encouraging them to be vessels of love and encouragement to those around them.
Takeaways:
And now for something completely different.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's experience.
David Spoon:It's expository Thursday.
David Spoon:Expository Thursday.
David Spoon:As we work together to know the letter better, but into the narrative of the Book of acts, we do not travel.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:Because we finished the book of acts.
David Spoon:So we're gonna get into a new book and find God's timeless truths in our lives.
David Spoon:Welcome to the Book of Colossians.
David Spoon:This book is the third of four prison epistles.
David Spoon:What does that mean?
David Spoon:That means that he wrote them while he was in prison.
David Spoon:The first one, by the way, is Ephesians.
David Spoon:The second one is Philippians.
David Spoon:This one is Colossians.
David Spoon:And there's Philemon.
David Spoon:Those are the four prison epistles.
David Spoon:That means that all these letters were written while Paul was in prison.
David Spoon:So every time Paul thanks God and praises God in these letters, he's doing it behind bars.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:That should just be an amazing testimony to start this off.
David Spoon:Next, jumping into the very beginning, we need to understand that the letter is broken up.
David Spoon:Basically two major sections.
David Spoon:The first half of the book deals with theological treaties that include an absolute and most powerful presentation of christology that's anywhere else in the New Testament.
David Spoon:Christology is the study of Christ, and colossians 118 makes it clear that in all things, Jesus is to have the preeminence.
David Spoon:That means first place.
David Spoon:And finally, the first thing we want to look at is in verse two, is where it says to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ Jesus at Colossi.
David Spoon:These are not two different groups of people.
David Spoon:Saints and faithful brothers is the same phrase in the Greek.
David Spoon:It means one person.
David Spoon:And guess what?
David Spoon:God doesn't write letters to dead people.
David Spoon:The saints are the living people who are the brothers and sisters in Christ, and we will get into it.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:David Spoon's life has been an experience.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:While growing up in a jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:Then David Spoon found Jesus Christ, and his life completely changed.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:The more he studied the gospel, the more he wanted to share his experiences with others.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:After 35 years of ministry, David discovered a new path of service.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:He joined KAAM, and this radio program began.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:You're about to hear the David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.
David Spoon:Lessons for surviving living and prevailing politics, entertainment and current events, personal revelations, spiritual observations, my life's insanities, and oy vey, so much more.
David Spoon:Now, remember, it's not professional radio.
David Spoon:Talked to the ruler of professional radio yesterday.
David Spoon:It's not.
David Spoon:It's just radio.
David Spoon:Two cans and a string.
David Spoon:We do want to know what you think so you can email us during the show.
David Spoon:I just got an email from brandon davidmusincrease.org.
David Spoon:dot.
David Spoon:That's david mustincrease.org.
David Spoon:it works.
David Spoon:You can also text us.
David Spoon:Did you know that?
David Spoon:You can text us.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:And the answer is because new people are listening.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Jammin Jacob.
David Spoon:Talking to Jammin Jacob is that same feeling you get when you know you're honestly, sincerely being appreciated.
David Spoon:Aw, that's nice.
David Spoon:Thank you, David.
David Spoon:Happy to Thursday.
David Spoon:Happy Thursday to you.
David Spoon:Not a lot for you to do that last section, huh?
David Spoon:Not a lot for you to kind of respond to, huh?
David Spoon:Yep.
David Spoon:Just sat and listened.
David Spoon:It's amazing that sometimes it hasn't and sometimes it does, but Thursdays, it does seem to happen a little bit more.
David Spoon:Cause it's.
David Spoon:It's the book of revelation.
David Spoon:So, yeah, sometimes I'm just sitting back listening and sometimes I'm like constantly picking up the phone about every 5 seconds.
David Spoon:It just depends on what's going on.
David Spoon:We love that.
David Spoon:Don't you love that?
David Spoon:See, the thing about Christianity is stop making it rules and regulations.
David Spoon:How boring.
David Spoon:Snores are rules and regulations.
David Spoon:That's what a religion is, not.
David Spoon:Not the religion that the Bible speaks of, but the religion that the world speaks of.
David Spoon:Remember, there are definitions of words that do not translate from one to the other.
David Spoon:So the world's definition of love is not even close to the Bible's definition of love.
David Spoon:Not even in the ballpark.
David Spoon:Like, love is love.
David Spoon:Love is love.
David Spoon:Jesus said all that I love, I rebuke.
David Spoon:Just tell them one time and they'll be like, what?
David Spoon:So you get to see that all these different things.
David Spoon:So the world religion process is just rules, regulations, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
David Spoon:God's process is so different.
David Spoon:So we encourage you to be, you know, active in this and to be a participant to recognize your Christianity.
David Spoon:It's not robotic, it's not.
David Spoon:I do this, I do this, I do this, I do this.
David Spoon:You know, if you, if you listen to any of those worship songs, Noelle, just recently watched that movie about.
David Spoon:I can only imagine.
David Spoon:Okay, if you want, if you watch any of these shows, you find out, listen, these are powerful moments in people's lives.
David Spoon:And when we see the Lord, it's gonna be so awesome.
David Spoon:Just imagine.
David Spoon:Just imagine.
David Spoon:Wake up.
David Spoon:Not one thing, not one thing you have to deal with or take care of.
David Spoon:But you are filled with joy and peace.
David Spoon:You are filled with happiness and grace and mercy is just literally dripping upon you.
David Spoon:I mean, literally, people are like, literally, literally, you are in the presence of the most high God.
David Spoon:Come on.
David Spoon:That's cool.
David Spoon:All right, so anyway, why would you, by the way, reach out to us?
David Spoon:Why would you call us?
David Spoon:Or not just calling us, but why would you text us?
David Spoon:If you want to text, you know, you can do that.
David Spoon:Why would you send an email?
David Spoon:Why would you do any of those things?
David Spoon:There's a couple of reasons.
David Spoon:The main reason, not the main reason.
David Spoon:One of the main reasons is it's a praise report.
David Spoon:You get an opportunity to go, you know what?
David Spoon:This blessed me.
David Spoon:I just want to share it.
David Spoon:And that honors the Lord.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got a prayer that's appraised report.
David Spoon:Maybe you got a prayer request, right?
David Spoon:Asking the Lord to help.
David Spoon:Asking the Lord to bring the kingdom of heaven into your situation.
David Spoon:Yeah, he's there, but he's very gentle and very much a gentleman waiting for you to say, please take over.
David Spoon:Actually, most of the time he's waiting for us to let go.
David Spoon:But that's a separate issue.
David Spoon:We talked about that yesterday.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got something you just want to share.
David Spoon:Scripture that's on your mind or on your heart.
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:Do it.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got an answer to bible trivia.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:I find it interesting that I had this coordinated for trivia today.
David Spoon:And the very first question on my little trivia sheet just happened to be what I was reading about in my devotions today.
David Spoon:I always find stuff like that fascinating.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:Who was Bathsheba's first husband?
David Spoon:Two samuel, chapter eleven, verse three.
David Spoon:Who was Bathsheba's first husband?
David Spoon:That's the question I'm asking you.
David Spoon:If you think you know, by the way, you can reach out to us.
David Spoon: : David Spoon:Your first question, who was Bathsheba's first husband?
David Spoon:Two Samuel chapter eleven, verse three.
David Spoon:I will tell you that as I was studying it, I actually got some very revelatory stuff that I'm looking forward to teaching on one day.
David Spoon:When we get into one and two, Samuel, we'll hope that be happening soon.
David Spoon:In the meantime, we're going to do our DNA.
David Spoon:So we're going to be praying for people.
David Spoon:We've had a bunch of people request prayers, and it's probably gonna be difficult for me to name each and every one of them, so I'm gonna probably do it collectively, just giving a little more time.
David Spoon:But that doesn't mean that God, when he hears our prayers, doesn't know what's going on.
David Spoon:So never take it that way, okay?
David Spoon:Never think that way, okay?
David Spoon:That's just.
David Spoon:I mean, even Paul said, I pray for you all.
David Spoon:It's like, it's not, it doesn't mean he names each one individually.
David Spoon:So when you pray collectively, get it.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:Uh, let's do our DNA first.
David Spoon:D.
David Spoon:D stands for draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:Daily, just every day, if you.
David Spoon:If you will, just make that commitment between you and the Lord.
David Spoon:I don't care how much time, I don't care.
David Spoon:All the processes, you know, part of it's gotta be prayer, and part of it's gotta be the word.
David Spoon:If you would just do that, you would have a better life here.
David Spoon:And then you'll kind of get a handle on what's coming, a little bit of as to what is on the road, what's coming down the road, which is hanging out with the Lord, which is phenomenal, changes everything.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:That's d.
David Spoon:And never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:I won't tell you which candidates like or don't like the word of God.
David Spoon:That's an irrelevant point, because at some juncture in your existence, if the Lord tarries or if he doesn't come back when everybody thinks he's coming back, you know, from a eschatological point of view, the growth against the word of God is certain because it is the only thing that Satan can do to bring about a pull back or a, not a reduction, but a challenge to the kingdom is to challenge the actual word of God, which, by the way, is to challenge actually Jesus, since his name is the word of God.
David Spoon:You tell that to some people who claim to be christians.
David Spoon:They're like, what?
David Spoon:It's like, okay, John, chapter one, verse one.
David Spoon:Ever read that?
David Spoon:Okay, so, d, draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:Of course, if you are, he'll be ashamed of you.
David Spoon:And then a always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:Always ready to serve.
David Spoon:Just ready.
David Spoon:You're not.
David Spoon:It doesn't mean you, like I said yesterday, and I think it's a good point, it doesn't mean you have a track sitting in your pocket that you're going to share with somebody.
David Spoon:A jack chick track or four spirituals.
David Spoon:Doesn't mean you don't need those.
David Spoon:Doesn't mean you don't have to use those.
David Spoon:Those are great.
David Spoon:But it doesn't mean you're just like, just be there when the Lord calls, that you can say, here am I.
David Spoon:Use me.
David Spoon:Just present yourself to the Lord.
David Spoon:I think it's really helpful if you start off your day doing that and just say, Lord, you know, sometimes I don't hear you very clearly and sometimes I, you know, pay more attention to my stuff.
David Spoon:But I do want to make myself available to you.
David Spoon:Please use me in any way you want today.
David Spoon:I think that is a genuine, honest, sincere prayer that God not only loves to hear from his children, but will say yes to.
David Spoon:Okay, so d draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:In the meantime, we'll go back to the trivia question and then I'm going to start some preliminary on the book of Colossians.
David Spoon:I love some of this stuff, so just, I go nuts.
David Spoon:That's why.
David Spoon:Who was Bathsheba's first husband?
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:We've already mentioned that this is one of Paul's prison epistles.
David Spoon:What that means is he wrote them.
David Spoon:Wait, in prison.
David Spoon:What's amazing about that is between Ephesians, Colossians and Philippians, and even somewhat in Philemon, there are multiple scriptures of praise and honor and glory and appreciation for the circumstances in by Paul unctioned by the Holy Spirit, writing them and acknowledging as holy writ that even in that circumstance there is a place to praise the Lord instead of complaining about the circumstance.
David Spoon:The lesson is that somebody was very deeply involved, very committed, certainly doing the right thing by the kingdom standards, also encountered many tribulations and in those tribulations always figured out especially, we see it in Colossians one, three, a way to think, thank God.
David Spoon:That right there is the challenge of a lifetime.
David Spoon:Now I want you to understand something about the prison epistles.
David Spoon:That's the Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon.
David Spoon:They were written after acts 28.
David Spoon:The most likelihood is they were written about 63 ad, where the acts 28 is roughly about 62 ad.
David Spoon:That's kind of helpful to know.
David Spoon:Here's another thing that's really powerful to know.
David Spoon:For many, many years, there's many commentators and the older commentators will all refer to this.
David Spoon:They thought that the biggest problem in Colossians was gnosticism.
David Spoon:And gnosticism has to do with two things.
David Spoon:It's a fervent love of knowledge itself, where the pursuit of the knowledge becomes more important than what's being pursued.
David Spoon:And another part of gnosticism is this.
David Spoon:Nothing but spiritual things.
David Spoon:There's no real world.
David Spoon:There's no anything, anything that's in the real world, like food or anything like that.
David Spoon:It's all evil.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Those are the two main elements of coming out of gnosticism.
David Spoon:However, in the last 50 or 60 years, it has come down that the group that the church of Colosseum might have been fighting was also another group that was deeply into angelology, calling on Michael, Gabriel and all the other angels and not calling on the Lord, but calling on angels to do all the work, which is very, very, very enlightening, very interesting.
David Spoon:And as we get into the book, you'll understand why that could very well be because of what he says in chapter two and chapter three.
David Spoon:So I'm just giving you that so you can understand.
David Spoon:Then I'll just open with this, and then we'll give the trivia question, and then we'll take our first break.
David Spoon:The first thing is chapter one, verse one.
David Spoon:Paul, an apostle.
David Spoon:So I want you to understand, he never met any of these people.
David Spoon:He didn't meet the people at Colosse.
David Spoon:He never had a chance to meet them.
David Spoon:So he's coming off saying this, he's an apostle because they don't know him.
David Spoon:So he's giving them a little bit of, hey, this is where I'm at.
David Spoon:I'm writing to you.
David Spoon:I'm one of the Lord's apostles.
David Spoon:And apostle is one.
David Spoon:The word means one sent forth.
David Spoon:And in many ways there's multiple apostles, but they don't range into the twelve, and they certainly don't range into the first century apostles.
David Spoon:It's just not the same.
David Spoon:Everybody goes, oh, it's the same.
David Spoon:No, it's not.
David Spoon:Doesn't mean the office doesn't exist.
David Spoon:But the twelve were.
David Spoon:The twelve don't stop doing that.
David Spoon:And then Paul, definitely one as born out of time.
David Spoon:But he wants them to know, hey, I'm writing this to you.
David Spoon:This is from me.
David Spoon:And you should take heed to what I'm going to share with you.
David Spoon:What I want you to understand is he's going to discuss fellowship with the Colossians, but he never met them.
d Spoon's Life Story Narrator:Stop.
David Spoon:Stop.
David Spoon:That's what this radio show is like.
David Spoon:Not that we are like Paul in that sense, but I'm trying to show you the connection.
David Spoon:Paul is going to talk about his connection to this church and to these believers.
David Spoon:But they never met.
David Spoon:Huh.
David Spoon:Sounds like a radio ministry a little bit, doesn't it?
David Spoon:All right, your question there, isn't that cool?
David Spoon:Come on.
David Spoon:Your question.
David Spoon:Who was the first husband of Bathsheba?
David Spoon:And the answer is Uriah.
David Spoon:Uriah the Hittite was the first husband of Bathsheba, by the way, David, in his sins, in that process, I just did this deep dive, last two weeks, 20 sins that I'm able to count so far.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Take our break and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on KAAM, 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Shortbreak.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.

David Spoon:What is the David spoon experience?
David Spoon:Now, I want to pull this out of Jude.
David Spoon:Jude only has one chapter.
David Spoon:Jude is the letter before the book of revelation.
David Spoon:Revelation, singular.
David Spoon:It's the last letter before the book of revelation.
David Spoon:And this is what it says in verses 17 through 19.
David Spoon:I want you to listen to this, and then I want you to think about today, all the stuff that's going on.
David Spoon:I'm not going to go overly political.
David Spoon:I want you just to consider the landscaping that we're all living in right now, the landscape that we're of society.
David Spoon:It says this, but you must remember, beloved, that the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, they said to you in the last times, there will be scoffers following their own ungodly passions.
David Spoon:It is these who cause divisions.
David Spoon:Worldly people devoid of the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:Now listen to that.
David Spoon:This is a prophecy that is being brought up by Jude, who is a brother to Jesus.
David Spoon:Won't even identify himself that way.
David Spoon:Brother to James, who was in charge of the church after the James of Peter.
David Spoon:James John died in acts twelve in acts 15.
David Spoon:The other James kind of ascends to the position of power, so to speak.
David Spoon:And he's not in charge of everybody.
David Spoon:He's just kind of leading the show and like Peter did in the early church.
David Spoon:And this is Jude, his brother and the brother of Jesus.
David Spoon:And he's telling you, you gotta remember what the apostles said, the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:He's so humble when he writes that.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David spoon experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at Kam, 770 the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's ka men 770 the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Before we do anything else, I want to go into prayer.
David Spoon:So we've got a couple of different prayer requests.
David Spoon:They're kind of scattered.
David Spoon:I just want to make mention of that.
David Spoon:So we're going to pray so everybody knows who it is who's contacted me.
David Spoon:So as I'm praying, I'll be lifting them up before the Lord.
David Spoon:But as we're praying, I want you to be praying for all these people.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:So, I mean, there's.
David Spoon:There's a couple of serious medical ones.
David Spoon:There's people that are dealing with fear.
David Spoon:There's concerns about the pregnancies.
David Spoon:There's concerns of things like that nature.
David Spoon:And so I want you just to join me in taking your faith.
David Spoon:Just put it with my faith.
David Spoon:Just collectively, you know, two or more agree upon anything.
David Spoon:And so there's a connection there.
David Spoon:And let's take my faith, your faith, let's put it together and be.
David Spoon:And be petitioning the Lord.
David Spoon:Let's do it.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now and we thank you and we praise you.
David Spoon:And I just.
David Spoon:I just feel immensely blessed, Lord, to be able to petition you on behalf of the people that listen to this show.
David Spoon:That's just an honor.
David Spoon:And, Lord, coming to you in your presence, it's just, it's so, we're so, we're so gifted, we're so graced, and we understand the world's going kind of nutty around us.
David Spoon:But, Lord, in you, we find the center of everything.
David Spoon:We find our peace, the grace, the wisdom, the insight to just move forward.
David Spoon:And, Lord, you are a giver.
David Spoon:You're generous, you're so kind to us, we don't even recognize how kind you are.
David Spoon:So, Lord, for Greg and for, you know, his daughter and for Papa and for all these people, all these different people who are just.
David Spoon:They're just really hurting, Lord, they really need miracles to come from you.
David Spoon:Some are life threatening.
David Spoon:Some are just debilitating.
David Spoon:We need your miracle power.
David Spoon:We're not going to tell you how to do things.
David Spoon:We're not going to be obnoxious.
David Spoon:We're going to be your kids asking our dad for help.
David Spoon:Dad, would you please help us?
David Spoon:Help these children that are yours.
David Spoon:Help these children that know you and even the ones that don't, and reach into their bodies by the power of your spirit and confirm your graciousness and touch them and let them know it comes from you.
David Spoon:And, Lord, we're praying for right now for there's just a lot of people that just don't have any peace.
David Spoon:There's just so much fear, so much frustration.
David Spoon:And we're asking you to break the wind, the noise of the wind, and then the noise that comes from that that is fighting against them.
David Spoon:Some need health and healing.
David Spoon:Some need a miracle.
David Spoon:Some need the waters and the waves just to be still.
David Spoon:And most of us need your peace.
David Spoon:And since it's the gospel of peace and Jesus, you are the prince of peace.
David Spoon:We're asking for that to be given to us.
David Spoon:For each one of these, Lord, for every circumstance which you know better than we do, and your mercy.
David Spoon:And in your grace, touch these lives.
David Spoon:Through your compassion, through your love, touch these lives.
David Spoon:We pray.
David Spoon:That's what we pray.
David Spoon:Lord, we ask you to do this in Jesus name.
David Spoon:Amen and amen.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All righty.
David Spoon:We will now get to this show is going to go off the rails, I promise.
David Spoon:We're now going to get to our next trivia question.
David Spoon:Why were Daniel's three friends thrown into the fiery furnace?
David Spoon:Why did Shadrach, Meshach in Abednego?
David Spoon:Why did they get thrown into the furnace?
David Spoon:Daniel, chapter three, verses eleven and twelve.
David Spoon:Daniel chapter three, verses eleven and twelve.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:That's the question.
David Spoon:Before we get anything else or do anything else, I want to make sure people know so we're in the book of Colossians.
David Spoon:For those that did not pick up on that, if you missed our revelation, teach, we would encourage you to check out the podcasts.
David Spoon:And if you don't have our app, we encourage you to get the app because it costs nothing.
David Spoon:Actually, we got a great price just to make the thing.
David Spoon:So I was pretty happy about that.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So why were shadrach, Meshach and Abednego thrown into the fiery furnace?
David Spoon: three, verses eleven through: David Spoon:That's your question for now.
David Spoon:And we do have somebody that wants to answer the trivia question, so let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Samson:Hey, this is your little brother.
David Spoon:What's going on, Samson?
Brother Stan:Hey.
Samson:Not much.
Samson:What's up?
David Spoon:Not much.
David Spoon:Not much.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:What's, uh, what.
David Spoon:What's going on?
David Spoon:Do you get the answer for the trivia question?
Samson:Yes, sir.
David Spoon:Okay, let me set it up for you and then you can answer.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Okay, here we go.
David Spoon:Why were Daniel's three friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego thrown into the fiery furnace?
Samson:Oh, because they refused to bow down the nebuchadnezzar idol or statue.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Evunda.
David Spoon:Amazingly, people do not make the correlation, although they probably should, that it was the government that was requiring false worship of a false statue regarding a false situation.
David Spoon:And they said no.
David Spoon:So everybody goes, we have to do everything the government says.
David Spoon:Okay, look at this passage here in Daniel chapter three, verse eleven through twelve, and explain it.
David Spoon:All right, so, yeah, it doesn't work that way.
David Spoon:We obey God first, especially if the government tells us to do something that's contrary to God.
David Spoon:Right?
Samson:Right.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:What?
Samson:It's so funny, David.
Samson:From last few days, I reim restarting the book of Daniel.
Samson:And even last night, that was my reading of listening.
David Spoon:That's great.
David Spoon:That's awesome.
David Spoon:Awesome news.
David Spoon:How are things in general?
Samson:Things are okay.
Samson:I'm just praying for one thing that I really need a breakthrough.
Samson:Like, that's kind of a little urgent.
Samson:But I know the God we serve, the God of Shadrach, me, shekinah nguyen.
David Spoon:Well, let me pray over you that the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
David Spoon:And by the way, I used to have people say Abednego and that's wrong.
David Spoon:Yeah, I just thought that was funny.
David Spoon:Let me pray over you that the Lord will open up the door.
David Spoon:Okay.
Samson:Yes.
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now.
David Spoon:Lift up our brother Samson.
David Spoon:We love our brother Samson.
David Spoon:We ask you to bless him.
David Spoon:Thank you for him pursuing you and loving you.
David Spoon:And, Lord, he's got an urgency, which.
David Spoon:It's not urgent to you.
David Spoon:Lord, you know everything.
David Spoon:Your timing is perfect.
David Spoon:So we do ask you to bring a sense of peace and a sense of comfort for him so that he would not feel that pressure.
David Spoon:But at the same time, Lord, he needs a miracle.
David Spoon:And nobody does miracles like you, Lord.
David Spoon:And so it only takes a moment for a miracle.
David Spoon:We know that to be true.
David Spoon:And we ask you to bring that moment for Samson and let him find deliverance from his situation, redemption from the attacks of fear and peace that pushes him past it all so he doesn't have to have that stress going on in his life.
David Spoon:We lift him up before you and ask your blessing on him.
David Spoon:In Jesus name, amen and amen.
Samson:Good.
Samson:Hey, I want to correct you with one thing, okay?
Samson:It's a book of revelation.
David Spoon:I had no doubt in my mind you would take a different position.
Samson:Because.
Samson:Because it is the continuation of the book of Daniel.
David Spoon:Now, you say that, right?
David Spoon:But I would say to you, the New Testament explains the old and not the other way around.
David Spoon:And you would have to.
Samson:You'd have to defend that in revelation.
David Spoon:But revelation is explaining Daniel, not Daniel.
David Spoon:Revelation.
Samson:Okay.
Samson:If you don't agree with me, I'm gonna start a revolution against you.
David Spoon:Well.
David Spoon:Well, you should get in line.
David Spoon:You would be number 456.
Samson:I love you.
David Spoon:I love you, too, bro.
Samson:Do you have a second?
Samson:I could crack a little joke.
David Spoon:Yes.
Samson:Okay.
Samson:Hey, do you know what kind of device Delilah was using?
David Spoon:What device Delilah was using?
David Spoon:What device was she using for her communication?
David Spoon:What was she using?
Samson:Samsung.
David Spoon:Oh, my gosh.
David Spoon:All right, I'm hanging up on you, Sam.
Samson:So let the joy of the Lord be our strength.
David Spoon:Amen, brother.
David Spoon:Amen.
Samson:Amen.
Samson:All right, thank you.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
Samson:Love you.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:So funny.
David Spoon:All right, there we go.
David Spoon:All right, so we're going to go into Colossians.
David Spoon:Samson.
David Spoon:Okay, that was good.
David Spoon:You have to like that.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:So for those that are trying to figure it out and people that are disagreeing, just so you can know, most things are interpreted Old Testament, the New Testament, there's a couple things that stretch around, but don't, don't freak out for your position.
David Spoon:Just don't do that.
David Spoon:Okay, here we go.
David Spoon:Let's go pick it back up.
David Spoon:In the text, listen to this.
David Spoon:Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus.
David Spoon:Do you ever look in the scripture and see it says Christ Jesus?
David Spoon:And other times it says Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:Do you ever notice that?
David Spoon:So the theory, it's not a bad theory.
David Spoon:I like it, is that when it's Christ Jesus, it's his lordship before he's a savior, and then when it's Jesus Christ, it's his savior before his lordship.
David Spoon:Nah.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:If that helps people sleep.
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, by the will of God.
David Spoon:And Timothy, our brother.
David Spoon:So let's at least understand where we're going with this.
David Spoon:Paul still has his young protege, Timothy.
David Spoon:It is likely because of how the letter is written, that Timothy was much more like a secretary.
David Spoon:It wasn't like Timothy was giving theological insight, because, remember, he was one of Paul's young protege.
David Spoon:So he was a part of the writing process.
David Spoon:But the level of involvement could be kind of challenging.
David Spoon:You gotta be a little careful there.
David Spoon:But he does say this, by the will of God.
David Spoon:And so the things that we do for the kingdom are by the will of God.
David Spoon:They're not by the will of men.
David Spoon:In fact, you being spiritually born is by the will of God and not by the will of your parents.
David Spoon:You see, what's amazing is that people.
David Spoon:Well, no, they didn't.
David Spoon:No, no, no.
David Spoon:From God's perspective, he has everything nailed down.
David Spoon:It's our perspective that doesn't have it nailed down.
David Spoon:So Paul, he knows.
David Spoon:Look, I'm an apostle.
David Spoon:I'm an apostle based on what?
David Spoon:Based on the will of God.
David Spoon:That's what I'm an apostle of.
David Spoon:And then he says this, and we'll exit after this to the saints and the faithful brothers in Christ Jesus.
David Spoon:Colossae, stop.
David Spoon:I know there are some belief systems that think that this letter, when it makes reference to the saints, is talking to dead saints.
David Spoon:I know how ridiculous that is.
David Spoon:It doesn't mean the person who thinks that is an evil person.
David Spoon:It's just wrong.
David Spoon:You don't write letters to people that are already with the Lord.
David Spoon:They don't need it.
David Spoon:When we see him as he is, we shall be like him and they're seeing him as he is.
David Spoon:That part's over.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Remember, the body goes down the spirit unto the Lord, so there's nothing that they, they don't need that.
David Spoon:And so when it says saints and faithful brothers, even in the Greek, it's one.
David Spoon:It's just one thing.
David Spoon:And it's like, look, the saints are the people that believe that Jesus is the Christ.
David Spoon:You are a saint as opposed to sinners, so to speak, because saints have been granted redemption.
David Spoon:So instead of all that other weird stuff that goes on and it's just relax.
David Spoon:The letter is to the saints and faithful brothers does imply there might be some people maybe not so sainty and not so brotherly like, but we'll get to that later on.
David Spoon:We'll take our break here and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kam 770, the true station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Shortbreak.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
David Spoon:The David spoon experience.
David Spoon:Knock knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Brother Stan:Hey, David, it's brother Stan.
David Spoon:Hey, brother Stan.
David Spoon:How are you, brother?
David Spoon:We mentioned it a little bit earlier.
David Spoon:I want people to keep on praying for you.
David Spoon:How are you doing?
David Spoon:And how's your wife?
Brother Stan:Well, I want to answer the trivia question and give a praise report.
David Spoon:Oh, okay.
David Spoon:So let's do the trivia question first.
David Spoon:And there's a little leeway in this one statement because it has like three different really practical responses.
David Spoon:But let's, let's just go with the ones on your heart.
David Spoon:What kind of giver does God love?
David Spoon:What kind of giver, cheerful or happy that is, Gretamundo.
David Spoon:Cheerful, happy, generous, great spirited.
David Spoon:Any of those will work with God?
David Spoon:Response?
David Spoon:People that say, here it is, praise the Lord.
David Spoon:I'm glad to give it, not people that go, I got a five.
David Spoon:I think I could squeeze that out.
David Spoon:That's not what the Lord wants.
David Spoon:That's not the right kind of offering for God.
David Spoon:We don't do stuff like that.
David Spoon:That's bad, right.
David Spoon:We do it with the right heart and the right spirit, right?
Brother Stan:That's right.
David Spoon:All right, give me an update.
David Spoon:Give me an update, update wipes out.
Brother Stan:Of hospital change woman high in spirit, high in praise, high in energy.
Brother Stan:The Lord is just God and I appreciate him in the witness of all the radio arguments and you, brother Dave and everybody at the radio station.
Brother Stan:My God answers prayer because it was heavy on my heart, on how my God, how my wife would behave after being released from the hospital.
Brother Stan:She is in wonderful spirits and it's just a great thing that God has done for me because I had a lot of things weighing on me, you know, things that she used to do, paying the bills and all of that.
Brother Stan:That had to be on me, which I take that, you know, I get that deval said better words.
Brother Stan:You can help reach him forward.
Brother Stan:And so I'm proud of myself because I've done what I could to step in from my wife who was missing for those of, for those short weeks.
Brother Stan:And she's a sweetheart.
Brother Stan:She's changed.
Brother Stan:God has answered our prayer.
David Spoon:Hallelujah, brother.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:That is just a fantastic testimony.
David Spoon:Everybody who's listening should recognize.
David Spoon:And then we shoot this off to Gary right now, who's got his issue going on with his wife Sheila.
David Spoon:It's like, listen, God does stuff.
David Spoon:Let's keep pushing until something happens.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:What a great testimony.
Brother Stan:Gary.
Brother Stan:Now I'm praying for you and everybody else.
Brother Stan:The saints prayers are, will be answered.
David Spoon:That's right.
Brother Stan:God does answer prayer of his people, his children.
Brother Stan:I love y'all.
Brother Stan:Be blessed.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:God bless you, brother.
David Spoon:Welcome back to that David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770 the truce station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's k men 770 the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:We're getting ready for another trivia question.
David Spoon:And since we've been doing revelation, this will be kind of fun to do right here in the new Jerusalem, where are the names of the twelve tribes written revelation 20 112?
David Spoon:In the New Jerusalem, where are the names of the twelve tribes written?
David Spoon:Revelation chapter 21, verse twelve?
David Spoon:That is your challenge, your opportunity right there.
David Spoon:That's making it simple.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:It's pretty straightforward, right?
David Spoon:Here you go.
David Spoon:In the New Jerusalem, where are the names of the twelve tribes written revelation chapter 21, verse twelve?
David Spoon:In the meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website on the website, there is a place to put prayer requests and praise reports as well as comments, something that's on your heart and mind.
David Spoon:Additionally, there's that free app that is up there.
David Spoon:Additionally, there's a place to give because we exist by the giving of our audience, how we do it, nothing weird, nothing bizarre.
David Spoon:And I do want to encourage you to check out the books that are on there.
David Spoon:We're doing the audio for the faith that pleases God and it's been really encouraging me to read it.
David Spoon:There's a lot of mistakes, and so I got to make those corrections.
David Spoon:But the message of the book is really encouraging in faith, and so I just encourage you to check it out.
David Spoon:If you can't afford a book, let us know.
David Spoon:We'll pay for it and send it to you for no cost.
David Spoon:In the meantime, on the giving side, proverbs three nine.
David Spoon:Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.
David Spoon:Never give God leftovers, okay?
David Spoon:That's not fair.
David Spoon:God gives you his best.
David Spoon:You give him your best.
David Spoon:Check it out.
David Spoon:All on the website.
David Spoon:He must increase.org prayer request he mustincrease.org praise report he must increase.org dot looking to give to this ministry.
David Spoon:He must increase.org dot confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:He mustincrease.org hemustincrease.org that's Jacob's favorite.
David Spoon:That's so classic.
David Spoon:All right, let's do the trivia.
David Spoon:We got so much stuff to cover.
David Spoon:I hope we'll get another break in.
David Spoon:Somebody is ready to answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Samson:Hi, Dave.
Samson:Doctor Spoon, this is Fred.
Samson:How you doing today?
David Spoon:I'm doing great, Fred.
David Spoon:How you doing?
Samson:I'm doing fine, sir.
David Spoon:Awesome.
David Spoon:Awesome.
David Spoon:You ready for the tree of question?
Samson:I think so.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:I feel good about it, brother, but we'll see.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:There we go.
David Spoon:In the New Jerusalem, where are the names of the twelve tribes written?
David Spoon:Where are the names of the twelve tribes written to be direct?
Samson:The name of the twelve tribes on the twelve gates?
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Amundosa.
David Spoon:Excellent.
David Spoon:Excellent.
David Spoon:Excellent job.
David Spoon:That's a tough question.
David Spoon:I mean, people gotta.
David Spoon:You gotta really.
David Spoon:Oh, where are they?
David Spoon:It's on the gates.
David Spoon:On the gates.
David Spoon:Exactly, brother.
David Spoon:Exactly.
David Spoon:Excellent job.
David Spoon:Excellent.
David Spoon:What you got going on today?
Samson:I don't have anything going on.
Samson:I'm just gonna hang up and let you expound.
David Spoon:You're great, man.
David Spoon:Love you, brother.
Samson:God bless.
David Spoon:Bye bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Awesome.
David Spoon:So somebody did want to know.
David Spoon:And another great job, my friend.
David Spoon:We're going to get into this way.
David Spoon:Do you get to this next section?
David Spoon:This is really cool.
David Spoon:But somebody was checking in the show and just want to know what particular translation I used.
David Spoon:So it's an excellent question, by the way, I do want to point out to people that for those that don't know, are newer to the show, I was born and raised jewish, then I became a Christian.
David Spoon:Pretty dramatic experience.
David Spoon:I went on and I got a BA degree, then a master's degree and then a doctorate.
David Spoon:But my doctorate's from a baptist group.
David Spoon:My master's is from a pentecostal group.
David Spoon:And I'm a baptistal for those that are trying to figure out.
David Spoon:And when I meet with pastors and we talk, I just tell them, I'm just a jewish guy who's getting to heaven through Jesus.
David Spoon:That's what I tell people.
David Spoon:So.
David Spoon:But from a translation point of view, I'm a big, big fan of all of.
David Spoon:I actually am a big fan of more than one.
David Spoon:I typically read the Greek and the Hebrew.
David Spoon:I use a lot.
David Spoon:I go a big direction.
David Spoon:Just so you can know in the berean standard Bible, which is a BSB.
David Spoon:I also like the ESV.
David Spoon: ve the new American Standard,: David Spoon:That's my fav.
David Spoon:I also like the NLT for reading and for absorbing.
David Spoon:And I love the new King James.
David Spoon:And then I like about 15 other translations.
David Spoon:So the truth of the matter is I read the Bible different almost every translation.
David Spoon:Right now I've read the New Testament in over 30 different translations and I've read them multiple times because I just get a lot out of it.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:Sometimes I'll be in the NIv and you just pick up something and you're like going, wow.
David Spoon:And then sometimes you read in the King James and you're like, wow.
David Spoon:I love the way it says there's some things in the King James.
David Spoon:I still quote from King James because it says it better.
David Spoon:And I like that.
David Spoon:Some things that come out of the NLT that are phenomenal.
David Spoon:I love all of it.
David Spoon:So my answer is a plethora.
David Spoon:I try to use a very tight translation, a middle translation, and not a paraphrase, but a softer translation.
David Spoon:I don't use paraphrases because that's not what I use.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:I hope that helps.
David Spoon:Right, let's go back to colossians because this part is mind blowing.
David Spoon:I don't know where we're going to go with this.
David Spoon:But I get overwhelmed when I read this and I think about this.
David Spoon:Here's Paul.
David Spoon:He's writing in prison, right?
David Spoon:So this is the first two verses we already covered.
David Spoon:Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colosse.
David Spoon:Grace and peace to you from God our father, which, by the way, we do that and we think of.
David Spoon:It's just like saying hello or Shalom, kind of in Hebrew.
David Spoon:Well, when you say Shalom in Hebrew, you're not just saying hello or goodbye.
David Spoon:You're actually asking for God's peace to be a part of that.
David Spoon:And that's exactly what Paul's doing.
David Spoon:He's saying grace and peace to you from God our father.
David Spoon:And you think, why?
David Spoon:Well, first of all, we're told we can grow in grace.
David Spoon:And Hebrews 416 says, we come to the throne of grace with confidence to receive mercy and to find grace in our time of need.
David Spoon:We have positional grace, but we also need situational grace.
David Spoon:And that's what Hebrews 416 is about.
David Spoon:So he's saying that to you and then peace.
David Spoon:It's a gospel of peace.
David Spoon:I mean, that's one of the great things about Ephesians six where it talks about the gospel of peace being the shoes that we have on our shoes of the gospel of peace.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because you take the gospel of peace wherever you go.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because people need peace.
David Spoon:I mean, the reality check that people don't want to say often is we have a lot of people that need, that have a strong dependency on certain drugs in order to help them cope.
David Spoon:That's not bizarre.
David Spoon:It's in fact, some of those are really good.
David Spoon:It's awesome.
David Spoon:But it's because there's no peace.
David Spoon:And so that's what he's starting off with.
David Spoon:He's like, look, grace, unmerited favor, God's favor and peace to you from God, not from the world, not from anything, from God our father.
David Spoon:That's what he says.
David Spoon:Then he blows everybody's.
David Spoon:I don't know if he blows everybody's.
David Spoon:Blows my mind.
David Spoon:Let me say that.
David Spoon:Verse three.
David Spoon:We always thank God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.
David Spoon:Dude, you're in prison.
David Spoon:I know people don't like that, but he's in prison now.
David Spoon:He could have said, here I am suffering for the kingdom.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:That could have been the first line, would have been true.
David Spoon:Here I am being abused by the system.
David Spoon:He could have said that too.
David Spoon:That would have been right.
David Spoon:There's been no error in saying any of that.
David Spoon:But that's not what he says.
David Spoon:What's the first thing he communicates to this church?
David Spoon:We thank God every time we pray for you.
David Spoon:That communicates a connection between christians that doesn't often exist now, which it should.
David Spoon:I mean, everybody's like, we want to be like the first century church.
David Spoon:We want to be like the first century church.
David Spoon:Nobody really wants to be like the first century church that met daily and that had all things in common.
David Spoon:Nobody's really looking for that.
David Spoon:I mean, they just say it because it sounds spiritual.
David Spoon:But what he did communicate is, look, I thank God when I think of you, when I pray for you, when I consider you, I have happiness.
David Spoon:There's a joy that just swallows over me.
David Spoon:But there's a big difference between thankfulness and joy.
David Spoon:Relax.
David Spoon:You're missing the point.
David Spoon:I thank God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.
David Spoon:He's happy to pray for them.
David Spoon:He's blessed about them.
David Spoon:That's the kind of fellowship that we want to have.
David Spoon:I hope you have that personally, one on one.
David Spoon:And if it doesn't happen, I hope the Lord opens that door for you, and I hope you have that kind of fellowship on this radio show.
David Spoon:But look at the attitude that Paul has.
David Spoon:He could have wrote anything on that first line, that first tear, but he just wanted them to know he appreciates them.
David Spoon:That's a powerful, powerful.
David Spoon:We love the brethren.
David Spoon:Move.
David Spoon:A new commandment I give you, that you love one another as I have loved you, substantially greater than us loving ourselves.
David Spoon:Jesus loved them greater than we love ourselves.
David Spoon:You can't change that.
David Spoon:And it's like, well, we always thank God the Father, our Lord Jesus, God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.
David Spoon:I love that.
David Spoon:That's the heart of.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:Love one another and carry one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.
David Spoon:Isn't that powerful?
David Spoon:That's powerful.
David Spoon:I will take a break and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David spoon experience right here on Kam, 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Show Announcer:What is the David spoon experience?
Show Announcer:You say?
Show Announcer:I'll put it to you like this.
Show Announcer:Do you love a good joke?
Show Announcer:That's pretty bad.
David Spoon:What do you call an animal that doesn't practice what it preaches?
David Spoon:A hippocritopotamus.
David Spoon:Come on.
Show Announcer:Do you love being able to ask questions, comments, or having someone to pray for you?
David Spoon:Do you have an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question?
David Spoon:We don't want it to die of loneliness.
David Spoon:We want it to have a chance.
Show Announcer:And last but not least, do you love some trivia?
David Spoon:All right, we got our trivia question.
David Spoon:Who made clothes out of leaves that were sewed together?
David Spoon:Somebody want to answer the trivia question?
David Spoon:Okay, hold on, hold on.
David Spoon:Here you go.
David Spoon:Here you go.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
David Spoon:You're talking to Mary.
David Spoon:This is Al.
David Spoon:This is Brother Ace.
David Spoon:This is Eric.
Samson:This is Deborah.
Show Announcer:Now, if that doesn't make you curious, maybe you should tune in and check it out for yourself.
David Spoon:Think of me as the big brother that won't go away.
David Spoon:That's me.
Show Announcer:Tune in to the David Spoon experience.
Show Announcer: Weekdays at: Show Announcer:on 770K Aam.
David Spoon:What is the David Spoon experience?
David Spoon:Hey, Jingity Jing, it's Dominic, the donkey.
David Spoon:Jingity Jingdez, the italian Christmas donkey.
David Spoon:La la la.
David Spoon:Oh, that is.
David Spoon:You asked for Zany, my friend.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:So we being not completely unlike, you know, Christmas vacation in Chevy Chase and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:We got a really big tree, slapped it up on the car.
David Spoon:Of course, it scratched the car to no end.
David Spoon:Remember, I'm jewish and I'm trying to follow the Christmas holiday.
David Spoon:It's got nothing to do with my Christianity.
David Spoon:I like Christmas, I like the season and so on and so forth.
David Spoon:I have no problem celebrating any specific time, picking a time, and we're as close as we can be celebrating the birth of Christ.
David Spoon:It's awesome.
David Spoon:It's a great time of year.
David Spoon:But you're talking about me fighting a tree and I'm fighting the tree and I'm fighting the tree and I hack off a few branches.
David Spoon:And unfortunately what I hacked off with the, with the axe wasn't enough because I was right there again holding the Christmas tree with my feet on the door, trying to pull it in.
David Spoon:Hey, you know what?
David Spoon:The Christmas tree was not coming in.
David Spoon:So you know what I did?
David Spoon:I hacked off a few more pieces, but then instead of just trying to pull the tree in, I hacked off a few more pieces.
David Spoon:By this point, I have decided that Christmas is a pagan holiday that only people who are supporting Christmas presents have created.
David Spoon:And jewish people who believe in Jesus should not be celebrating Christmas.
David Spoon:And I'm crushing the.
David Spoon:And I've got the act up and I'm crushing it and I'm going to get this tree in and you would not believe it, but after doing that for 15 minutes, I still could not get the tree in the house.
David Spoon:Oh.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KaM 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:I don't think we're actually going to have time for history.
David Spoon:You only got like four minutes left and I still have to do this one verse.
David Spoon:We were going to do history.
David Spoon:I will tell you one thing about history for those that don't know.
David Spoon:And.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Do history real fast.
David Spoon:Go ahead and play it.
David Spoon:Go ahead and play it.
David Spoon:I can do it.
David Spoon:Do it.
David Spoon:Do it.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:It's national good and plenty Day.
David Spoon:Remember?
David Spoon:Good and plenty.
David Spoon:You don't even know what good and plenty's are, do you?
David Spoon:Oh, my goodness.
David Spoon:See, people.
David Spoon:Jacob, don't you love Jacob?
David Spoon:He doesn't know.
David Spoon:Love.
David Spoon:My good and plenty's Charlie says.
David Spoon:Really?
David Spoon:Rings a bell.
David Spoon:Charlie says, I love my good and plenty.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:You don't know that at all, do you?
David Spoon:Doesn't ring a bell.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Brilliant line, by the way.
David Spoon:Brilliant.
David Spoon:You get big props for that.
David Spoon:Also, it's national bologna Day.
David Spoon:The only person that's really happy about that is Bert because we give them baloney every once in a while.
David Spoon:Don't give your dog bologna.
David Spoon:Don't tell me what to do with my dog.
David Spoon:Okay, here we go.
David Spoon:Last little bit in Colossians.
David Spoon:Only got a couple of seconds.
David Spoon:Let me do this.
David Spoon:So we just finished.
David Spoon:Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, by the will of God and Timothy our brother to the saints and faithful brothers in Christ Jesus in Christ at Colosse.
David Spoon:Grace and peace to you from God our father.
David Spoon:We always thank God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you because we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love you have for the saints.
David Spoon:Next week we'll get into the three, but I want you to key in on this one point.
David Spoon:People hear about your faith.
David Spoon:Let me explain something to you that people maybe you might not be aware of.
David Spoon:People hear about your faith, whether you know that or not.
David Spoon:When Paul was with Silas in the prison, and they were in prison and the Bible says they were singing praises and praying, it says the prisoners heard them.
David Spoon:Your faith has, whether you think it does or not, is not as relevant as the truth.
David Spoon:Your faith has a reputation.
David Spoon:First of all, your faith is on display for the authorities and powers that exist in heaven.
David Spoon:Ephesians, chapter 311 and twelve makes it clear that God chose his wisdom to the powers in heaven through the church.
David Spoon:Not he did.
David Spoon:He does so one way or another.
David Spoon:When you think about all the world's a stage.
David Spoon:That would be correct.
David Spoon:Shakespeare didn't come up with that.
David Spoon:The apostle Paul wrote that just so you can know.
David Spoon:And what I'm trying to communicate to you is that your faith is seen.
David Spoon:Even if you don't think anybody is seeing it.
David Spoon:That means nothing.
David Spoon:So the fact of the matter is, Paul's like, look, we've heard about your faith.
David Spoon:Faith has a reputation that goes with it.
David Spoon:Love has a reputation that goes with it.
David Spoon:But I want you to know that you're being heard somewhere in some capacity.
David Spoon:Be it the powers in heaven or be it people who live right next door to you, your faith is being acknowledged, good or bad.
David Spoon:That doesn't mean that you fake your faith.
David Spoon:It just means your faith is open.
David Spoon:And doing that with the Lord might make a person make a decision to say, I want some of that.
David Spoon:I want what that person is operating with.
David Spoon:Your faith is heard.
David Spoon:Never forget that.
David Spoon:You're a billboard for the most high God.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:All right, folks.
David Spoon:You've been listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kam, 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Taking a 22 and a half hour break.
David Spoon:Then we'll come back.
David Spoon:More insanity with spoonanity talk to you then, just as I am here.
David Spoon:Each down and sweetly.
David Spoon:The views expressed on the preceding program were those of the speakers and not necessarily those of Kam DJRD broadcasting or its sponsors.
