Diana:

On this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast, we learn about go away powder.

Liz:

And old donkey teeth.

Liz:

Let's do this.

Diana:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Diana:

I'm Diana.

Liz:

I'm Liz.

Diana:

And we're going to talk about season nine, episode 16, Blade Runners.

Liz:

Don't.

Liz:

You had nothing to do with Blade Runners whatsoever?

Liz:

Not really.

Liz:

There wasn't an umbrella.

Liz:

It's nothing.

Diana:

Nothing.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So what have you been up to, Liz?

Liz:

Well, last week, I did get to do another one of the momentous.

Liz:

What do you call, events, I guess, event.

Liz:

This.

Liz:

Yeah, this was an event of the Ruth Connell's go smudge yourselves that she does at the cons.

Liz:

She did that over at Stan's.

Liz:

Momentous.

Liz:

Whatever you want to say, but it was fun.

Liz:

Her voices, man.

Liz:

Like, can I just have a lovely Scottish lady, like, talk to me all about, like, magic and stuff?

Liz:

Because, you know, whether or not, like, what she was saying is legit, like, you just believe her because, like, this, like, little lilting Gaelic, it's like, oh, you just charge us under the moon.

Liz:

And this is.

Liz:

This is a good time, you know, to, like, do things where, like, you know, to manifest stuff.

Liz:

I'm like, sure, I believe you.

Diana:

Yeah, just keep talking.

Liz:

Just keep talking.

Liz:

So that was very sweet.

Liz:

And they sent everybody, you know, some smudge and palo santo and a crystal so you could, like, charge that if you wanted to and to do whatever you wanted to do with those things.

Liz:

So that was fun.

Liz:

And then last weekend, I went to.

Liz:

Because it's, you know, like, it's spooky season, but also because it was a Saturday, I went to a seance.

Liz:

And I went to a seance at Villa Finale, which is one of the old houses in the King William district where I really, you know, I love that part of San Antonio.

Liz:

It's just the.

Liz:

The coolest part of town.

Liz:

And so we.

Liz:

The awesome seance.

Liz:

Put on a fun seance there, and we had a good time.

Liz:

I didn't.

Liz:

I didn't see a ghost.

Liz:

But, you know, other people think that we connected and there were things that happened.

Liz:

People in my group thinks that, you know, so, hey, some people saw ghosts, some people didn't.

Liz:

But I also got to hang out in a cool old house and watch people be spooky, which is just as much fun as being spooky.

Liz:

I don't know, like, whether or not you see a ghost, like, it's the act of doing the seance is my.

Liz:

Is my jam.

Diana:

Okay?

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

In the cool Environment.

Liz:

Yeah, yeah.

Liz:

I mean it's like you get to go in a house and like they're.

Liz:

Austin seance is very spiritualist oriented.

Liz:

And you know, both Albert and Jake dress like they're, you know, they're, they don't dress Victorian.

Liz:

They just kind of have nods to it.

Diana:

Right.

Liz:

So you're already, you're in an old timey house with guys who are leaving you in an old timey seance and all the lights are out and you know, candles are going.

Liz:

Although they're not real candles because it's an old house.

Liz:

They don't want to burn it down, you know.

Diana:

Right, right, right.

Diana:

That's good.

Diana:

Good call, good call.

Liz:

So, yeah, that was, that was my weekend and we're going to try and get like one more seance maybe at the, the cur.

Liz:

Doing one at the, the haunted doll hospital.

Diana:

Oh, no.

Diana:

Oh.

Diana:

So wait, is it a hospital for dolls?

Liz:

Yes, I think this is what it's called.

Liz:

I don't know, I think it's a doll store.

Liz:

But I think doll hospital is like where girlies would take their dolls when they were broken.

Liz:

Ah, yes, but it's just full of haunted dolls or just all dolls are haunted.

Diana:

Didn't you play with fire too?

Liz:

No, I did also play with fire.

Liz:

See, I mean, my wife is boring.

Diana:

You've been busy.

Diana:

Fire seances.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

One of my, the circus schools is doing a fire class for the first time and that was pretty fun.

Liz:

Although, I mean, we just haven't gotten to the difficult stuff and they're not going to teach us how to eat fire.

Liz:

They're going to teach us like we're doing like fire flow, which is just kind of dancing with fire.

Liz:

But in the end that's also just kind of dancing with fire.

Liz:

And I don't really know if we needed a class to do that.

Liz:

There's a couple of like the props that I, I need class in, but I'm not sure I like the fans so that they have like the five wicks on them.

Liz:

Like people were using them last week and I am not.

Liz:

I don't, I think I have too much ADHD for those fans.

Liz:

I, I don't, I don't think that one's gonna work out for me.

Liz:

We'll see.

Liz:

But you know, I was using a little, little the torches, which have the two things.

Liz:

But I don't know, it's kind of feel like I'm shaking fire around.

Liz:

I'm like, yeah, I burned myself a couple times, but not too bad.

Diana:

That sounds exciting.

Liz:

It was Fine.

Liz:

But they are.

Liz:

You flush.

Liz:

I'm looking forward to flushing, which is, you know, when you set yourself on fire, like just like a little bit.

Diana:

That scares me a little bit.

Liz:

That sounds fun.

Liz:

Well, typically you have like gloves on and stuff.

Liz:

They have little gloves that you can put on for.

Liz:

I also find that.

Liz:

And maybe it's just like a modern, the modern world of aerials and circus schools.

Liz:

Like people just want to tape themselves doing things a lot.

Liz:

So there's just a lot, you know, like people spinning around videoing themselves doing this to like, I guess to send to people and post this stuff.

Liz:

And I'm like, I just want to learn how to do this.

Liz:

I don't necessarily need to see videos.

Diana:

You're not making content.

Diana:

You're not there to make.

Liz:

I'm not making content.

Liz:

So.

Diana:

But if you do have some content, send it my way.

Diana:

I'll post it to our stories.

Diana:

Just kidding.

Liz:

I'm kidding.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Anyways, so that.

Liz:

So that was that.

Liz:

And there's the class should be continuing tomorrow, hopefully.

Liz:

Nice.

Liz:

What about you?

Diana:

I've been in bed for days.

Diana:

I had a, an elective procedure of the cosmetic type.

Diana:

So I've been laying around and watching a lot of trash tv.

Diana:

Yeah, I did finally watch the new Beetlejuice and very much enjoyed it.

Liz:

Oh, so there it's already on digital.

Diana:

Yeah, I had to.

Diana:

I mean you had to pay to rent.

Diana:

It's not like streaming for free, but.

Liz:

Yes, but yeah, I didn't know that it was already on.

Diana:

Yeah, you can rent that one online.

Diana:

And so we watched that and so I actually really enjoyed it.

Diana:

Yeah, I thought they did a really good job.

Diana:

I mean it's not going to be the original, so I was happy with that.

Diana:

And then what else?

Diana:

Yeah, just a lot, a whole lot of trash tv.

Diana:

Whole lot of trash TV guys.

Liz:

But yeah, it's okay.

Liz:

Sometimes, you know, you need to watch other people's made up drama.

Liz:

Yes, I would recommend the Dark side of Reality tv.

Liz:

That's a really fun show that Vice.

Diana:

Has put out right now.

Liz:

It's so good.

Liz:

It's like about like how reality, like there are things like I didn't know and like I know because I don't watch trash tv.

Liz:

So I'd rather watch behind the scenes of trash tv.

Liz:

So like they did the whole one on the Surreal Life.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

And there was so much of that show, but I didn't even know it happened.

Liz:

Like all the Brigitte Nelson and Flavor Flav like them on the like in the house, like while like Dave Couye's like in the room.

Liz:

Like that's just.

Liz:

Who can get it on while Dave Couille's in the room.

Liz:

Like, I cut it out, man.

Diana:

Well, yeah, I did.

Diana:

That was a pretty good.

Diana:

That was a good.

Diana:

That was a good one.

Diana:

I appreciate that.

Diana:

Thank you.

Diana:

But yeah, by.

Diana:

By my trash tv, obviously, I mean reality tv.

Diana:

So.

Diana:

Yeah, I didn't just watch that.

Diana:

I did watch the.

Diana:

Just like.

Diana:

It's like a sitcom romcom type thing on Netflix called Nobody Wants this.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And I like Kristen Bell.

Liz:

It looks.

Diana:

It's fine.

Diana:

It just looks too entertaining.

Liz:

I just.

Liz:

Not in the room.

Liz:

I can't rom com right now.

Liz:

No, it's very anti love in general and.

Diana:

But yeah, other than that, I'm counting down to my car show.

Diana:

Our car show is this weekend, Saturday.

Diana:

The Saturday, October 26th.

Diana:

Invasion Car show in Deep Bellum, Texas.

Liz:

Invasioncarshow.com Exciting.

Diana:

Yeah, that's what I got.

Liz:

Cool.

Liz:

Cool.

Liz:

All right.

Liz:

You ready to talk about this episode?

Diana:

Yeah, let's do it.

Liz:

So, as I said, Blade Runners has nothing to do with Blade Runner.

Liz:

I guess it talks about a Blade.

Diana:

And they're looking for it.

Diana:

I don't know.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Running around looking for.

Liz:

But no, there's no science fiction or anything.

Liz:

Which would have been cool.

Liz:

Maybe Dean and like a Blade Runner outfit.

Liz:

I would take that.

Liz:

Anything.

Liz:

Just give me some goddamn Blade Runners.

Liz:

Anyway, so this was Season 9, Episode 16.

Liz:

,:

Liz:

Was directed by Serge La Douce.

Liz:

I can't say French.

Liz:

And written by Brad Buckner and Eugenie Ross Lemming.

Liz:

So in our recap, we start off with Men's of Letters.

Diana:

Yep.

Diana:

Men of Letters.

Diana:

We talk about how to hack an angel.

Diana:

And then we go deep into Cain, the Mark of Cain, the First Blade, and Crowley.

Liz:

Yep.

Liz:

And we cut to Sam and he is reading about Cain and Abel.

Diana:

Right.

Diana:

And Dane is trying to get in touch with Crowley and being very unsuccessful.

Diana:

He just.

Diana:

But he's.

Diana:

He's leaving voicemail after voicemail.

Diana:

Crowley's been missing for weeks.

Diana:

He's supposed to be finding the fucking First Blade, but whatever.

Diana:

And I guess all Dean has from Crowley is a voicemail.

Diana:

That's a potential drunk dial.

Liz:

It's.

Liz:

Yeah, it sounds like a call I used to make in my 20s a lot.

Liz:

And so, you know, it's 3:00 in the morning and just cycling through which friends will answer the phone at that time.

Liz:

Because you don't want to go to bed yet.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And Crowley's voicemail says that he's Too busy inflicting pain to answer.

Liz:

So when Dean calls again, we see that Crowley's phone says, not moose.

Diana:

Yes.

Diana:

Which is funny.

Diana:

And it's laying on top of some lingerie because Crowley is wearing satin black satin pajamas and is in bed with Lola.

Diana:

And immediately I was like, is he wearing a suit in bed?

Diana:

I was very confused.

Diana:

Took me a minute.

Diana:

Also, to be clear, I was also on pain meds when I watched this, so apologies if I can't read my notes and.

Diana:

Or have weird observations today, but.

Diana:

And he, like, sends her to the closet to go get a.

Diana:

To fill a syringe from a dude that's hanging up by his wrists in.

Liz:

The closet for his treat.

Diana:

Yeah, so he is injecting human blood is the long and the short of this.

Diana:

And then she runs out to go run errands, and she returns with pizza boxes and a bottle of champagne.

Diana:

And I'm like, girl, we can party anytime.

Diana:

I'm in.

Diana:

But there we.

Diana:

So.

Diana:

And no.

Diana:

Apparently, Crowley's gone a little bit haywire.

Diana:

While she was gone, he has killed the guy that was in the closet and is crying and watching movies in bed.

Liz:

Watching C.

Liz:

Blanket, to be specific.

Diana:

Great.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

He stopped his crying to any movie.

Diana:

Well, yeah, that's true.

Diana:

Fair enough.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So we cut to a warehouse where Lola is meeting up with one of Abaddon's minions because she is betraying Crowley.

Liz:

Of course she is.

Liz:

And this minion tries to blow her off from seeing Abaddon, and she tells him that the king only wants pizza, sex, and human blood.

Liz:

Plus, those Winchesters keep calling and talking about the First Blade.

Diana:

Yeah, and she'll report back.

Diana:

But next time she does, she expects to meet with Abaddon herself.

Diana:

So Sam and Dean, though, have decided that whatever the fuck's going on, that a crossroads demon is going to help them find Crowley.

Diana:

So there you go to the crossroads, and.

Diana:

No.

Liz:

No, they don't.

Liz:

Well, they go to a crossroads, but they make a giant devil's track.

Diana:

Yes, they do make a giant devil's trap at the crossroads.

Diana:

And they do their summoning.

Diana:

And who appears?

Liz:

Well, yeah, I just want to say that Sam is just spitting out Latin now because that's where we are.

Liz:

Like, so we're no longer, like, reading from books or anything.

Liz:

Sam just, like, has a crossroads demon summoning spell just at the tip of his tongue.

Liz:

He's like, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

Liz:

By the way, here's Snooki.

Diana:

Yeah, and it's nookie, so my name.

Liz:

Is Nicole now, not Snooki.

Diana:

And that explains a lot, apparently.

Diana:

So.

Diana:

Anyways, speaking of reality tv.

Diana:

Right.

Diana:

Though I will say that was one I did not watch.

Diana:

But I know who she is.

Diana:

I didn't watch Jersey.

Liz:

See, I don't get it.

Liz:

You what?

Liz:

You say you watch trash TV and yet you don't watch Jersey Shore.

Liz:

I don't know.

Liz:

I don't.

Diana:

It's just very selective and my.

Diana:

Very selective in my trash tv.

Diana:

Anyway, so Sam is threatening her with the demon blade to talk, but she wants to because they just want to know what's going on with Crowley and about how showbiz is going to be real tough without his help if he doesn't retain control of Hell.

Diana:

So basically saying, like, hey, you better help us, because we're gonna figure out what's going on with Crowley, because if Crowley's not in charge, you ain't got your gig.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And then I also had to look up how tall Nicole was because her in this trap with the boys was so hilarious.

Liz:

And they're just like, tiny Snooki and the Jensen Agals.

Liz:

And you could tell they were trying to film the shot.

Liz:

So it wasn't, like, that noticeable, but it was.

Liz:

And I'm totally 3 inches taller than her.

Liz:

And that's the first person I've ever, like, found that I'm taller than.

Liz:

So that's great.

Diana:

Liz is taller than Snooki.

Diana:

Yes, they did.

Diana:

So either way, she's like, yeah, Hell's crazy.

Diana:

The loyalists are all starting to turn to look at Abaddon, and they're like, cool, cool, cool.

Diana:

Y'all don't know where he is either, so they're gonna exercise her.

Liz:

Rude.

Diana:

She did not like that back at Crowley's hotel room that he's, like, chilling in with Lola.

Diana:

She has been shopping, and he.

Diana:

She.

Diana:

But she also brought him a bag of blood on.

Diana:

She's gonna get him a syringe.

Diana:

And, like, why wasn't he doing this.

Liz:

In the first place?

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

And she also.

Liz:

Why are you using that syringe?

Liz:

That syringe is a lot.

Liz:

It's like a 19th century, you like, version of how you take things out.

Liz:

Like, there are much, like, better medical equipment that you could be using.

Diana:

Right?

Diana:

And that.

Diana:

But also, he knows she's a rat and flings her for tattling on him to Abaddon's people.

Diana:

So she's been sold out.

Diana:

Or he just knew.

Diana:

I don't know.

Liz:

Also, he was reading Little Women.

Diana:

Well, she's, like, funny.

Liz:

That's what his humanity is.

Liz:

His Humanity sends him to read Little Women.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

And so she's.

Diana:

He's.

Diana:

She's like.

Diana:

Tries to argue with him, and he just stabs her with the Angel Blade.

Diana:

And then injects himself as the song heroine by the Velvet Underground Place.

Liz:

And it's been stuck in my head like, oh, get it?

Liz:

Like, it'll go away.

Liz:

And then all of a sudden be like.

Liz:

And then I was.

Liz:

And then, like, it just makes you want to bang heroin.

Liz:

And then you're like, no, I don't.

Liz:

But you're like, the song makes it sound cool.

Liz:

God damn it, Lou Reed.

Liz:

So heroin's playing, and then Crowley is this.

Liz:

Just looking around his smelly, smelly room.

Diana:

Because his room is full of dead people.

Diana:

Three dead people.

Diana:

Old food, some blood.

Diana:

He's probably not bathing consistently.

Diana:

This room is gross.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

So they're definitely not letting housekeeping in.

Diana:

Let's say that Sam is back at the bunker, is researching the Mariana Trench, and.

Diana:

Because that's where Crowley was supposed to be looking for the First Blade.

Diana:

And Dean's got beer.

Diana:

So they're gonna talk about, like, what if this was a double cross?

Diana:

And Dean's like, no, because Crowley needs me with my marker cane to use the First Blade to kill Abaddon.

Liz:

But also, they seem fine.

Liz:

Did all this shit just, like, everything that we've been dealing with, is it gone now?

Diana:

Yes and no.

Diana:

They're kind of, like, kind of fine, kind of not.

Diana:

I don't know, but they seem like.

Liz:

All the awkwardness is just kind of like.

Diana:

Except that Sam is, like, kind of, like, weirded out about the Dean and Crowley relationship.

Liz:

Well, I think he just is weird out because that's a weird relationship.

Liz:

Well, why are you, like, buddy, buddy with the hell?

Diana:

That's true.

Liz:

And besides the fact that he's awesome and fun and I want to hang out with him.

Liz:

I mean, not this version of him.

Liz:

This version of it is too sad.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So.

Diana:

But Dean's phone rings, and it's Crowley.

Diana:

He doesn't have the Blade, but he does need help.

Diana:

So Sam and Dean show up at his nasty hotel room, and he refers to the bodies laying around as refreshments.

Diana:

And he definitely has a bag of blood with him.

Diana:

And they're gonna chain him to the Flare to change, chain him to the chair, and call him out for letting them down and for his letting down his followers.

Diana:

Because this is an intervention.

Liz:

It's so weird.

Liz:

It's a very weird thing.

Liz:

And, you know, they tell him that, you know, he's letting them down.

Liz:

He's letting hell go to hell.

Liz:

And he is just complaining that they don't know what it's like to be human.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And because he has an addiction.

Diana:

And Lola ratted him out to Abadon's people, but Sam's like, whoa, whoa.

Diana:

Well, if she was ratting you out, did she tell Abaddon's people about First Blade?

Diana:

And he's like, I don't know.

Diana:

The big deal.

Liz:

Yeah, big deal.

Liz:

And she.

Diana:

So either way, they are gonna take him back to the bunker to quit cold turkey and chain him up where they had him before.

Liz:

So go back to our bunker.

Liz:

Dungeon.

Diana:

Yeah, bunker dungeon.

Diana:

In the file room or whatever.

Liz:

In the file room.

Diana:

It's.

Diana:

And Sam's just gonna sit in there and research while they're doing it.

Diana:

And he wants to discuss the Mariana Trench and about how it's not there.

Diana:

But Crowley knows that the First Blade used to be there, but it was picked up by an un, scooped up by an unmanned sub, then stolen by a research assistant, then sold to Portuguese smugglers, and then lost to Moroccan pirates in a poker game.

Liz:

That was correct.

Diana:

Huh.

Diana:

So he.

Diana:

Crowley's just still feeling sentimental as he stares down Sam, though.

Diana:

And he's just staring at Sam with.

Liz:

A lot of feels, and it makes everybody feel awkward.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And Sam is.

Diana:

Has zero feels for Crowley.

Diana:

Let's be really clear about that.

Diana:

Dean has, like, pretends like he has none, but you can tell he has a little bit of feels for Crowley.

Diana:

Sam is like, your feels Crowley.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And then they just have decided that Abaddon is worse than Crowley for some reason.

Liz:

Like, I really don't understand where.

Liz:

And I know I brought this up before, but just, like, this hatred of Abaddon that they have and this, like, that.

Liz:

This theory that she's so much worse than Crowley when, like, I think Crowley has demonstrated, like, over and over again, he's bad.

Liz:

And then they haven't seen that much from her besides the Met of Letters Massacre.

Liz:

Right.

Diana:

Well, but I think that's implied that at least, even though Crowley's bad, he does follow rules.

Diana:

Like, he likes rules.

Liz:

But how do you know what Abadon's gonna do?

Liz:

Like, they don't know her.

Diana:

No, that's true.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Like, how do.

Diana:

Other than.

Diana:

Other than her just saying she's not gonna do.

Diana:

She ain't following, but that's about it.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

No, you're right.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

I don't know.

Liz:

I just feel like they're overreacting.

Diana:

Well, they are gonna go be.

Diana:

Phoebe's in the park at night.

Diana:

While Crowley tries to break into a vending machine.

Diana:

I don't know.

Liz:

He's just trying to steal candy from it because he doesn't want to pay for it, which I think makes sense.

Liz:

And if, you know, I.

Liz:

Not like, I don't have that intrusive thought every time I'm in front of a vending machine, I need to stick my hand in there and get some free candy.

Liz:

Well, you want to know if it's possible.

Liz:

You just, like, it's.

Liz:

It's just human nature to want to shove your hand inside a vending machine.

Liz:

I think that's just like, everybody wants to do it.

Liz:

Anyhow, so they tell Crowley that he is the king of rotten and that he should act like it.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And then Mr.

Diana:

Devlin appears.

Diana:

He apparently has purchased the Blade from the pirates and is shopping it around.

Diana:

Or he's not really the purchaser, but he is a broker trying to arrange the sale of the First Blade.

Diana:

But they are like.

Diana:

But he has no interest in dealing with the Phoebes, so.

Diana:

So he is going to leave if that's the case.

Diana:

But Crowley is sitting on the bench a little bit of ways and is listening to all this.

Diana:

And so he.

Diana:

Red Redcock smokes out of himself of his meat suit into Mr.

Diana:

Devlin and then goes back to the Crowley meat suit.

Diana:

And then the Mr.

Diana:

Devlin dude leaves.

Diana:

And Crowley knows where the First Blade is.

Liz:

Yes.

Liz:

And there is just a lot of cock smoke in this episode.

Liz:

It's not even done yet.

Liz:

But the first braid Blade is apparently at the National Institute of Antiquities in Kansas City at Missouri, which is not a place.

Liz:

The institute, Not Kansas City.

Liz:

Kansas City is a place.

Liz:

I've been there.

Diana:

Kansas City, Missouri is a place, too.

Diana:

And Kansas City, Kansas.

Liz:

But they're both places.

Diana:

All right, so at that they go there and.

Diana:

Well, we go.

Diana:

We go there.

Diana:

Excuse me.

Diana:

First, we go as the viewers.

Diana:

And we've got two guards playing cards at night.

Diana:

And we get two black cock smoke fins.

Diana:

We've got demons possessing them.

Diana:

And yeah, I think you should be.

Liz:

Careful when you say when we get to black cocks.

Diana:

We get two demon smokes.

Diana:

Demon smokes in.

Liz:

Oh, no.

Diana:

Ah.

Diana:

Two black, two demon smokes in.

Diana:

So these security guards are being possessed by demons.

Diana:

And they unlock the vault.

Diana:

Vault one.

Diana:

And then as they're doing this, this woman walks in with Chinese food because she's just, like, gonna be nice and bring them Chinese food during their shift and gets her throat slipped for it.

Diana:

And that's rude.

Liz:

It's so rude.

Diana:

It is very rude.

Diana:

So we cut to the next morning or whatever later, and there are two dead guards.

Diana:

Dead chicken.

Diana:

And Sam and Dean are there with a detective.

Diana:

And basically the.

Diana:

He's got the camera footage.

Diana:

This research.

Diana:

The chick's a research assistant and she walked in basically on the guards unlocking Vault one.

Diana:

And then the footage shows the guards, like, shoot each other but stay standing.

Diana:

It doesn't hurt them.

Diana:

And then they shoot the camera, which.

Liz:

I also think is weird that they shot the camera last.

Diana:

That is a weird choice.

Diana:

These are dumb, dumb demons.

Liz:

Shoot you.

Liz:

Shoot you.

Liz:

Oh, wait, there's a camera.

Liz:

We gotta shoot that.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

So apparently Vault 1 is normally to hold rare new acquisitions while they're being examined, but apparently it's been empty for weeks.

Diana:

And now they know that ABADDON is closing in on the First Blade, which they are also after.

Diana:

So this is bad for their mission.

Diana:

I mean, obviously your point about why it matters is a separate one, but for their mission purposes, it's bad.

Diana:

And then we meet Dr.

Diana:

McElroy, who is going to very weirdly flirt with Dean.

Diana:

I don't know.

Liz:

It's very.

Liz:

Everyone is very uncomfortable and he just.

Liz:

Dean, like, threatens to compel her to speak, and it turns her on and everything.

Liz:

She.

Liz:

He says she's coming back with, like, a weird innuendo, but it's all just like this weird cougar energy and everyone's just uncomfortable, especially Sam.

Diana:

Yeah, but basically he kind of likes it.

Diana:

Yeah, he totally likes it.

Diana:

He is into this.

Diana:

The long and short of it is, though, she has acquired.

Diana:

Yes, she acquired what is supposed to be the demon.

Diana:

The First Blade.

Diana:

It's been carbon dated, but her authentication was unreliable.

Diana:

So she got a confidential offer to buy it and was going to go with that because she couldn't prove it.

Liz:

That's what it was.

Diana:

So he.

Diana:

Dean, threatens her again with.

Diana:

And she says that the buyer called themselves Magnus.

Liz:

And then she gives her card and Sam tries to take it.

Liz:

He won't take it.

Liz:

Dean's the only one she wants.

Liz:

And she leaves.

Liz:

And then Sam is like, hey, remember, this is about, like.

Liz:

Remember Albert Magnus?

Liz:

The alias and Men of Letters used when they wanted to be incognito.

Liz:

So we're going to talk about Magnus.

Liz:

It's time for a little lore.

Liz:

So, first off, one thing you need to know is that people used to throw the word Magnus around all the time because it means the great.

Liz:

So you'll see a lot of, like, emperors and people, like, throughout time, there's this blah, blah, blah, Magnus.

Liz:

So just know that.

Liz:

But There was an Albertus Magnus who was a 13th century Dominican friar, philosopher, scientists and bishop.

Liz:

He did a lot of things and he is considered one of the greatest medieval philosophers and thinkers.

Liz:

So according to RenaissanceAstrology.com because why not?

Liz:

Albertus wrote on a whole range of subjects, including the heavens, the properties of the elements, generation and corruption, meteorology, minerals and metals.

Liz:

That's one word.

Liz:

Minerals and metals, which sounds like, you know, an album, maybe the soul, life and death, youth and age, nourishment.

Liz:

So he's into food, sleeping and waking, the senses, the intellect, plants and animals.

Liz:

He considered astronomy, astrology to be the mirror of astronomy.

Liz:

So astronomy is about the stars, and they.

Liz:

The stars guide men in their earth affairs.

Liz:

So in this extract from Speculum Astronomia, or astronomy, I don't know, I don't speak Latin.

Liz:

I also don't know why they're talking about a speculum.

Liz:

Albertus discusses various astrological talismans.

Liz:

And so he talks about which of them are evil and demonic and which are the product of natural magic and the natural power of the heavens.

Liz:

So this is Albertus's is his words.

Liz:

Okay, As I have previously stated, the science of images is placed under the part of elections, but not all of them, but only the those that are astronomical, since the images are made in three ways.

Liz:

The first is a way that is abominable, as it uses suffumigations, which is smoke and invocations, like a spell which have stations for the worship of Venus and then goes off, blah, blah, blah.

Liz:

So apparently if you do things within smoke and they have a spell around them, they're evil, but good things, they're sufficient with lignum, aloes, saffron and balsam, and evil things with golbanum, red sandalwood and resin.

Liz:

So don't smoke things out in galbanum and they won't become evil.

Liz:

I don't know what galbanum is, I'm just.

Liz:

Don't smoke that.

Diana:

Okay?

Liz:

There is another way that is a little less troublesome but still detestable, which is done by writing characters by which certain names are exercised, as are the four rings of Solomon and nine candles and three figures of spirits, which are called the princes of the four places of the world.

Liz:

And by the amadol of Solomon, clearly, and the sigils of those possessed by evil spirits.

Liz:

So those things are detestable.

Liz:

And if you write characters on things to make a talisman, that's also going to be evil.

Liz:

All right?

Liz:

So you can't write it out.

Liz:

And then he goes on talking about some books and names and.

Liz:

Okay, the third way of making astrological images, which eliminates this filth and doesn't use suffumigations and invocations, nor exercises, nor characters or sigils, but gets its power from the arrangement of the heavens, as if there was made an image from the destruction of a particular thing in a particular place.

Liz:

When we have asked a horary question that is radical with nothing either large or small cadent and the significators signify destruction, make the image under ascendant similar to the thing you wish to destroy or under the ascendant of the question, and make lord of the house and the death or malefic afflict the ascendant.

Liz:

Okay, he starts going off again.

Liz:

What he's saying is if you're going to make a talisman, you should do it under the constellation of the thing that is like the talent, that is like the thing you want to do, right?

Liz:

So according to him and astrology, all of the astrology houses mean different things, right?

Liz:

So if you're going to make them, then you have to carve these things onto stones and you have to do them underneath their constellation, otherwise they're going to be evil or full of filth.

Diana:

Okay?

Liz:

I like how he said it was filthy.

Liz:

So if you were to do the ram, which is Aries, the lion, which is Leo, or the archer, which is Sagittarius, by reason of fire and the eastern triplicity, this indicates that stones have a property against fevers and such infirmities as dropsy, paralysis and the like.

Liz:

So if you have dropsy, which I know is something that we are quite concerned with, if you get a stone and you put a picture of a lion on it, but you have to do it underneath the constellation, I think then, then you can cure it.

Liz:

And since heat has a beneficial effect, these are said to make the wearer skillful and clever and to raise into positions of honor in the world.

Liz:

The lion especially has this effect.

Liz:

The twins Gemini, the scales Libra and the watermen Aquarius, they are carved on.

Liz:

So by reason of the triplicity of air and the west are said to predispose their wearers towards friendship and righteousness and good manners, diligent observation of laws and concord.

Liz:

So if you want to make somebody really boring on a suck up, you just draw like some twins on a.

Liz:

On some rock.

Liz:

You throw it at him.

Liz:

I.

Liz:

He didn't include the part about throwing the stone, but, you know, might as well.

Liz:

All right, so in this and Basically, if you can't get, like.

Liz:

We're going kind of by like the.

Liz:

The north, south, east, west.

Liz:

Right, right.

Liz:

Okay, so the crab, cancer, the scorpion, Scorpio, and the fishes Pisces, if those are called Dunstone by reason of the triplicity of water.

Liz:

And the north, temper dry fevers, like those called Ethica and cod and the like.

Liz:

You know, the Ethica fever that you had last week.

Liz:

But according to the art of images, they produce an inclination towards lying and unrighteousness and inconstancy and licentiousness.

Liz:

Evidence of this is that the scorpion is the image of Muhammad, who never taught anything except lies and unrighteousness.

Liz:

I don't know who Muhammad is.

Liz:

So.

Liz:

And if the bull, Taurus, the maiden Virgo, or the horned goat, Capricorn, they call it Capricorn.

Liz:

Capricornus are engraved upon stones by region, reason of the triplicity of earth and south.

Liz:

They are cold.

Liz:

Cold and dry so far as their effects are concerned.

Liz:

Hence they are said to cure their wearers of fainting fits and hot infirmities.

Liz:

Oh, I'm not gonna stop me from sweating.

Liz:

And they incline their rares towards religious devotion and wards.

Liz:

Country occupations.

Liz:

You know them country occupations like farming and the planting of vineyards and gardens.

Liz:

Them country folk.

Liz:

So they like the Taurus.

Liz:

So there are some things that can be carved outside of the zodiac.

Liz:

So if you carve a Pegasus that is said to be good for soldiers and those who fight on horseback and on the battlefield, and to be efficacious against diseases of horses.

Liz:

Now, I'm not saying.

Liz:

I'm not sure if that is a disease the horse gives you or a horse that is diseased.

Liz:

It's not quite clear on that.

Liz:

But the image of Pegasus is half of a winged horse.

Liz:

You draw a half a winged horse on there.

Liz:

Let's see, there's Andromeda.

Liz:

And that's a girl turned sideways, seated upon a rock with straining hands.

Liz:

And this image engraved upon gems that are by nature conciliating in love.

Liz:

Blah, blah, blah, blah.

Liz:

Okay, so this is said to reconcile even those who have been adulterous.

Liz:

So you draw a picture of a chick sitting on a rock, and that'll make somebody stop around.

Liz:

Apparently, Cassiopeia is a maiden sitting in an armchair with her arms unlifted and bent.

Liz:

And this engraving brings sleep and restores members to give rest after toil and to strengthen weakened bodies.

Liz:

Okay, I think I'm gonna draw that one on some stuff.

Liz:

So it's a maiden sitting in an armchair with her arms uplifted and bent.

Liz:

I think it's like cactus arms.

Diana:

Cornholio.

Liz:

Cornholio.

Liz:

Okay, so the serpent bearer, Serpentarius, Opecus, is a man with a serpent wrapped around his waist.

Liz:

He holds his head in his right hand and his tail and his left.

Liz:

That sounds saucy.

Liz:

And this image, engraved upon a stone, expels poison, is.

Liz:

Oh, it's effective against poisons and to cure the bites of venomous creatures, whether it's worn or whether scrapings of it or take it in drink.

Liz:

Okay, so that is something I may need.

Diana:

Useful.

Liz:

If you get bit by a snake, you can cut off pieces of this rock and eat it, and it'll cure you of your snake bite.

Liz:

I am not.

Diana:

Sounds legit.

Diana:

Sounds legit.

Liz:

Okay, let's see.

Liz:

All right, where was that last one?

Liz:

Oh, well.

Liz:

So the swan, you will get rid of Wharton Fever.

Liz:

Perseus will help you be protected from attacks of the envious.

Liz:

The stag, engraved with the hunter and dogs, will heal madmen and maniacs.

Liz:

And the last one, near the North Pole in heaven, there are, pictured, two bears, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor.

Liz:

And between them is placed a twisting snake, Draco.

Liz:

And if this is engraved upon a stone that gives wisdom and skill and will increase cunning and adroitness and bravery.

Liz:

So I think we learned a whole bunch of things that we can graffiti on.

Liz:

Please go carve this into your places.

Liz:

No, no, no.

Diana:

Don't do that.

Liz:

We do not encourage you to commit vandalism.

Diana:

Please don't.

Liz:

Don't get caught.

Liz:

Okay, so.

Liz:

Well, I think there's a.

Liz:

There.

Liz:

I think if you carve something into a rock, that'll protect you from getting caught.

Liz:

I'm sure there's.

Diana:

I'm sure there's one for that, too.

Liz:

You have to do it under the right stars.

Liz:

You can't just, you know, not with that filthy smoke.

Liz:

No smoke.

Liz:

So that was Albertus Magnus.

Diana:

Nice.

Liz:

Cool.

Liz:

So they go back and they start talking about all these questions, and they start wondering, like, wait a minute.

Liz:

Do we really know if all the Men of Letters are dead?

Liz:

And I think that's a pretty good question.

Diana:

It is a good question.

Diana:

They just assume they all got killed in 58.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

So they go back to the bunker and they decide to finally ask Crowley what he knows about this?

Liz:

And I do like that it's gotten this title now and then.

Liz:

A Letters massacre of:

Liz:

It sounds really official.

Diana:

It does sound official.

Diana:

And Crowley's like, yeah, so, sure, I'll tell you what you want to know?

Diana:

Except I'm pissed because I'm still trying to keep my end of the bargain, but y'all turned me into a junkie and then locked me up while my kingdom's falling apart.

Diana:

So this, if you want my.

Diana:

Tell you what I know, you gotta get me out of the dungeon.

Diana:

So they take him upstairs and then he.

Liz:

You know, they take him upstairs and he's still handcuffed and he's bitching about the quality of scotch.

Liz:

And I'm like, are you still not the King of Hell?

Liz:

Can you just not, like, get scotch delivered to you?

Diana:

Maybe not in the bunker.

Diana:

I don't know.

Liz:

Is it too warded to get scotch delivered?

Liz:

No.

Liz:

Drizzly comes here.

Liz:

I know drizzly folded.

Liz:

But yeah.

Diana:

So they ask him and he.

Diana:

And while Crowley is perusing an issue of Busty Asian Beauties, the Crowley asks if they are looking at active members only of the amount of letters.

Diana:

What about rogue members that may have been tossed out?

Liz:

What about dudes who just retired?

Liz:

Did nobody just, like, stop?

Liz:

Like, was.

Liz:

Were you in that until you died?

Diana:

Apparently so.

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

But Dean happens to upon a box in Fabati et obliterati.

Liz:

Dishonored and forgotten.

Liz:

Nice.

Liz:

I like it.

Diana:

And they find information on Cuthbert Sinclair.

Liz:

What a good name.

Diana:

And apparently he's the one that designed all the wards for the bunker.

Diana:

And.

Diana:

But was just.

Diana:

His work was described as eccentric and irresponsible.

Liz:

Same.

Diana:

I was deeply amused by that one.

Diana:

And.

Diana:

But.

Diana:

But he basically proposed all these projects and they were always reject.

Diana:

And Crowley's like, yeah, he was brilliant.

Diana:

Totally ahead of his time.

Diana:

But he got expelled in:

Diana:

So Crowley had tried to find him before because he wanted to get into the bunker.

Diana:

But now they're all gonna go look for him.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And we're into the woods because demons tracked him to this random spot in the woods that Crowley remembers for some reason.

Diana:

Yeah, but he could never find him because it was too warded.

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

This is kind of vague.

Diana:

And they just like, no, like, where.

Liz:

They take him to in the woods.

Liz:

It just looks very remote.

Liz:

And like, why would anybody remember this?

Liz:

Like.

Liz:

Yeah, okay.

Diana:

So Dean's like, well, I bet he's watching us.

Diana:

So Sam's gonna start making an appeal that you want to hear.

Diana:

We want to hear your side.

Diana:

And all of a sudden, this weird, smoky doorway appears.

Liz:

After they show their box.

Diana:

Yeah, after they show their men and Better's box.

Diana:

And so Sam and Dean go through this weird, smoky.

Liz:

We just Walk through a magic hole.

Diana:

Yeah, just stroll through it.

Liz:

That seems fine.

Liz:

Hole just opened in the air.

Liz:

I was gonna walk through it.

Diana:

Why not?

Liz:

Fine.

Diana:

And now they're in a fancy hallway.

Liz:

My dream house.

Liz:

This is.

Liz:

Yep.

Diana:

And then they get ambushed by vampires.

Liz:

Also in my dream house here.

Diana:

They fight and kill.

Diana:

And then they hear a voice overhead through like a loudspeaker say, bravo, well done.

Diana:

And they go into this fancy study where.

Diana:

Slash bar area where guy is making a drink and apologizing for his theatricality.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And if you're looking around this house, he has like, every painting that I've ever wanted to own.

Liz:

Including, you know, the Witches Sabbath by Francisco Goya.

Liz:

He's got Goya's conjuration.

Liz:

He's got the Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosh.

Liz:

He's got the Head of Medusa.

Liz:

That.

Liz:

He's got Oedipus and the Sphinx.

Liz:

Like, just like every sexy, weird occulty painting.

Diana:

Yeah, I'm very jealous.

Diana:

His invisible fortress.

Diana:

So anyways, and apparently they didn't get transported.

Diana:

And they're not underground.

Diana:

They are literally right where they were standing.

Diana:

It was just that well warded.

Diana:

And he doesn't.

Diana:

He hasn't heard his name in a very long time.

Diana:

And he definitely does not look like he's 90 something years old.

Diana:

But as he points out, there's a spell for damn near everything.

Diana:

But he's going to miss those two vampires from his zoo.

Diana:

Ew.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

We almost did a whole thing on.

Liz:

And he's collecting.

Liz:

What we figure out is he's collecting things.

Liz:

Art pieces and also things, I guess, you know, not the occult, just supernatural.

Liz:

Supernatural.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

So super.

Liz:

But actual supernatural beings, which is in addition to artifacts.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

That's not okay.

Liz:

It's not cool.

Diana:

Because apparently he has the biggest collection of supernatural rarities and antiquities on the planet.

Diana:

en of Letters had died out in:

Diana:

And is deeply amused that Sam and Dean are hunters and are now the only ones left, basically.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

I really appreciate all the people who think hunters are just like these big bat booms that are running around killing things and not asking questions.

Liz:

But.

Liz:

You mean, they kind of are, but just like that.

Liz:

And then just by looking at Sam and Dean just being like your hunters.

Liz:

And that's hilarious.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And he calls.

Diana:

He basically is mocking the Men of Letters and calling them librarians.

Diana:

But he also shares that he was Henry Winchester's mentor.

Diana:

And apparently Henry visited him after he was expelled, which is ooh.

Liz:

Henry, you naughty boy.

Diana:

Yeah, so Dean's just gonna go in.

Diana:

He's like, here's the situation with Abaddon.

Diana:

You know, we.

Diana:

You know.

Diana:

And Cut Bird's like, oh, let's.

Diana:

Let's.

Diana:

You know, all the Men of Letters wanted to do was study.

Diana:

He just keeps talking about that.

Diana:

And Dean's like, cool, cool.

Diana:

I want the first Blade.

Diana:

And I think you have it.

Diana:

And cutbirds like, well, yeah, that's nice, but you gotta have the, man.

Diana:

The Mark of Cain.

Diana:

And Dean shows that he has it.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Dean shows off his sick brand.

Liz:

And Cuthbert gets a boner.

Diana:

He does.

Diana:

And Sam's like, yeah, see, Abaddon wants to hell on Earth, so that's why we have to stop her.

Diana:

And Calvert's like, yeah, sure, here it is.

Diana:

And it's like, this is where we finally, like, actually see it.

Diana:

We've seen it teased before, but, like, we talked about when we first got teased about it is that it's basically like a jawbone.

Liz:

It is a donkey jaw.

Liz:

It.

Liz:

Welcome to the grossest knife that was ever made is a donkey jaw.

Liz:

Donkey jaw.

Diana:

So Dean's like, cool.

Diana:

Let me.

Diana:

Can I borrow it?

Liz:

If you loan us the blade, we will stop the.

Liz:

Why do you hate her so much?

Liz:

Like, I just don't get it.

Diana:

Because she wants hell on Earth again.

Liz:

I just.

Liz:

I feel like this just went really fast.

Diana:

She has killed a lot of people and says she wants.

Liz:

Says she's mad, like, twice.

Liz:

She was cut up for most of the time.

Diana:

Like, well, but they know she did the massacre of 58, so.

Liz:

No, they've killed more people than the massacre of 58.

Diana:

I'm not saying they haven't.

Diana:

I'm just saying.

Diana:

Okay, so I don't give a.

Diana:

He's like, yeah, I'm gonna ponder this.

Diana:

I'm gonna think about it.

Diana:

But nope, I'm gonna blow this powder in Sam's face and make him disappear.

Diana:

Bye.

Liz:

And you just get kicks out of the house.

Liz:

And God damn, I wish I had go away powder.

Diana:

And so Sam gets factor that.

Diana:

Go away powder.

Diana:

Well, Sam gets to Crowley and tells him that Magnus has Dean.

Diana:

So, anyway, Dean's like, what the.

Diana:

What did you do to Sam?

Diana:

And he's like, oh, I did what any collector would do.

Diana:

I separated the ordinary from the extraordinary.

Diana:

Great.

Diana:

So basically, now we figure out that Cuthbert wants to collect Dean as his next specimen because he has the Mark of Kane, like, to go with the blade.

Liz:

I mean, but the thing is, Sam's a pretty good specimen, too.

Liz:

I mean, he Once was filled with demon blood.

Liz:

Right.

Liz:

And like, that got cleared out of him.

Liz:

He went through the trials.

Diana:

He has trace of grace.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

He has an angel up inside him.

Liz:

Right.

Liz:

Like he's.

Liz:

I would say that he's also.

Liz:

I would collect San Winchester.

Diana:

I mean that.

Diana:

You've got a very valid point.

Diana:

I don't know why Cutb is just unimpressed.

Diana:

But it's his loss.

Liz:

Cuthbert's a snob.

Liz:

So anyways, he tries to convince Dean that Dean can be young forever and.

Diana:

Be part of the greatest collection of all time.

Diana:

Which is weird.

Liz:

Yeah.

Diana:

And teach his secrets and be his companion.

Diana:

And as Dean points out, this is very creepy.

Liz:

So, so, so creepy.

Liz:

And.

Liz:

But there's no windows.

Liz:

There's no doors.

Diana:

Yep.

Diana:

So Dean can't just grab the Blade and leave.

Diana:

And so there you go.

Diana:

You're and cutbirds.

Diana:

But also managed to steal Dean's gun.

Diana:

So Dean's just gonna have to be part of the collection.

Diana:

Now, if you had a holster, I.

Liz:

Probably could have pickpocketed it so easily.

Liz:

I'm just saying, maybe you had to shove your.

Diana:

I don't know why these.

Diana:

Why does no one on the show want these holsters?

Liz:

Anyways, so we go back outside and we get to see Trunk.

Liz:

Yay.

Liz:

Team Trunk.

Diana:

So.

Diana:

And Crowley's just like, hey, you know Sam.

Diana:

We're on the same team.

Diana:

How can I help here?

Diana:

And Sam's like, not interested.

Diana:

Let me look at these files.

Diana:

Hey, Crowley, you are useless here because of all these wards.

Diana:

So sorry.

Diana:

And Crowley's like, no, you.

Diana:

You need another set of hands.

Diana:

Remember, I helped find Kane.

Diana:

The first Kane.

Diana:

I helped get Gadriel out of you.

Diana:

Like, let me help.

Diana:

And Sam's like, you need to shut the hell up.

Diana:

It's kind of rude.

Diana:

Kind of rude.

Diana:

And so back in the invisible fortress.

Diana:

Feels has to be said that way.

Diana:

Cutsbert.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

It has the First Blade.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

I was like, okay, this is like my perfect house.

Liz:

Like, nobody can see it.

Liz:

Like, you can you get some go away powder?

Liz:

Like, it's full of like, my favorite paintings.

Liz:

Like this sounds great.

Liz:

Except for like, you know, the human enslavement of beings.

Liz:

Beyond that, it sounds like my perfect house.

Diana:

Well, he's.

Diana:

Dean's just talking shit.

Diana:

Because that's what Dean does.

Diana:

And he's like, oh, you're just hiding here and you want to play with this First Blade.

Diana:

And he's like, whatever.

Diana:

So he puts the Blade in Dean's hand and the mark starts glowing.

Diana:

We have a very intense moment.

Liz:

And then Dean Gets a boner, and I'm very uncomfortable.

Diana:

And then Dean drops it, and Cuthbert's like, it'll be easier next time.

Diana:

You'll get used to it.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

And the mark is just like, lighting up and throbbing.

Liz:

It's just all very awkward and I don't like it.

Diana:

So Sam's still researching.

Diana:

It's now nighttime, and he is talking about how they basically, they need to do a spell so that they can find the entry to get back into Cuthbert's place.

Diana:

And so back in Cuthberts, which is just.

Diana:

This is one of those bounce back and forth ones.

Diana:

Anyway, he's like, nothing can stop us.

Liz:

Yeah, he's just trying to woo Dean.

Liz:

And Dean's just like, you know what?

Liz:

I'm just gonna take a knee on this one.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

The blade's useless without me, so.

Diana:

Tada.

Diana:

And he's like, oh, no, you don't have to.

Diana:

I'm not asking for your cooperation.

Diana:

I'm going to expel you into being brainwashed to help me.

Diana:

Which is very creepy.

Liz:

It is.

Liz:

And he takes over his will.

Liz:

And so that's happening.

Liz:

And we cut back to Crowley, who is weirdly telling Sam, I did good.

Liz:

A moose.

Liz:

And that also.

Liz:

I do not like that.

Diana:

No, we went to get all the spell ingredients for Sam.

Liz:

Just.

Liz:

I don't like Crowley looking for validation.

Liz:

I hate it.

Diana:

Oh, well, Sam.

Diana:

Sam shuts it down again and is not impressed, so.

Diana:

But he did get all the ingredients.

Diana:

So Sam's able to do the spell and make a door appear so he can go try to save Dean.

Diana:

And he runs down the hallway.

Diana:

He sees.

Diana:

He hides from Cuthbert, and Crowley's with him in the house now.

Diana:

And he hides, but.

Diana:

And I'm also very distracted because all of a sudden I notice that there are bright white thermostats on the walls of the invisible fortress, which I just don't understand.

Diana:

If he's relying that much on magic and this house was built in the 50s, would it have modern digital white thermostats on the wall?

Diana:

And don't they distract from the aesthetic?

Liz:

Yeah, but, you know, sometimes you got to make sure that you have the right H vac, you know, system for all of your antiquities.

Liz:

They have to have a certain amount of temperature, a certain amount of humidity control.

Liz:

So it's important that you know, will you upgrade when you can.

Diana:

Well, once you see it, you get very distracted.

Liz:

I also just don't understand why he didn't have an alarm.

Liz:

Right.

Liz:

Like it.

Liz:

Was he just so full of so much pride that he didn't think anybody would.

Liz:

Would be able to find the house in the first place.

Diana:

No.

Diana:

The ward.

Diana:

He was so dependent on the wards.

Diana:

But either way, they.

Diana:

He's all excited because he's gonna put a knife to Cuthbert's throat.

Diana:

But they.

Diana:

It's actually not Cuthbert because this is a shapeshifter from the zoo, which is creepy as.

Diana:

And now.

Diana:

So now both Dean and Sam are chained up to columns which seem very, very, very prepared for chaining people to in the middle of this study.

Liz:

Yep.

Liz:

There's very convenient columns there to tie people to with.

Diana:

With little gold o rings on them to chain people to.

Liz:

I'm sure it's not the first time.

Diana:

No.

Diana:

So basically now, new plan is instead of just having to control Dean's will, he'll also threaten Sam with pain to make Dean do what he wants.

Diana:

Which will work.

Diana:

It'll work.

Diana:

So he cuts.

Diana:

Makes Sam suffering, cuts him twice, including his face, which is just rude to start there.

Diana:

And as that's happening, Crowley sneaks in and is able to free Dean, who immediately grabs the first blade and decapitates Cuthbert.

Diana:

Yay.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

But then he holds a blade and gets weird.

Diana:

He gets real weird.

Diana:

And he's shaking, his face is twitching.

Diana:

And Sam has to call.

Diana:

It is very.

Liz:

So much Elvis lip.

Diana:

It's a lot.

Diana:

And Sam calls to him, is able to connect.

Diana:

And then Dean drops the blade.

Liz:

So they just leave this house.

Liz:

They assume that gospel instead.

Diana:

And they just leave all that there.

Diana:

He's beheaded.

Diana:

And I just leave all these beautiful things in this house.

Liz:

This should all go the bunker immediately.

Liz:

This is like rarest antiquities.

Liz:

Think of all the weapons and all the things that are in here.

Diana:

Sad.

Diana:

They could have freed the zoo.

Diana:

They just leave them all in there to, like, die.

Liz:

Yeah.

Liz:

Anyways, this all seems weird.

Liz:

So they leave and they just go tromping through the woods.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

And they find that baby's doors are all open because she has been rifled through.

Liz:

Oh, the demons have been there.

Liz:

And not only have they gone through baby, they have keyed her in a Nokia.

Liz:

Because demons are talking in Enochian now.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

But it's even weirder that.

Diana:

What I find also amusing here is that what Sam and Dean don't know what Enochian looks like.

Diana:

This is kind of.

Diana:

They've seen Enochian plenty of times.

Diana:

Like, what is this?

Diana:

And Kylie's like, it's.

Diana:

It's Enochian.

Diana:

Okay, you guys have seen this before, but it's a message for Crowley.

Diana:

It says, be afraid your queen.

Liz:

Which is, you know, it's a message to leave.

Liz:

I mean, I'm not.

Liz:

I'm not mad at it, but.

Liz:

And so that happens.

Liz:

Sam tell tries to tell Dean that it's time to kill Crowley.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

But Crowley knows that this is about to come down and so he's going to pin them to baby monologue for a little while.

Diana:

And then he knows that they're gonna kill him.

Diana:

So in the meantime, what he's gonna do is he's gonna hold on to the First Blade.

Liz:

What is.

Liz:

Oh, you didn't write down what he called it.

Liz:

He calls it old donkey teeth.

Liz:

I'm gonna hold on to old donkey.

Diana:

Teeth here until they actually locate Abaddon.

Diana:

And it's actually time to kill her, which is kind of reasonable.

Liz:

I think so.

Diana:

And yeah, the blade's no good without Dean, so he's just gonna hold on to it.

Diana:

And Sam, AKA Moose, is right.

Diana:

You can't trust him.

Diana:

And he can't trust them.

Liz:

And he flaps away.

Liz:

And now they're free.

Diana:

Yeah, that's our episode.

Liz:

That's our episode.

Liz:

So did you got people talking about casting couch?

Podcast Host:

It's the casting couch.

Podcast Host:

Were they on that show that time with that guy?

Diana:

We do have a few folks.

Diana:

Our cast this week.

Diana:

Nicole AKA Snooki, who was Snooki played by Crossroads Demon was played by Nicole Polizzi.

Diana:

So I do want to share just a little bit.

Diana:

You know, obviously she's known as Snowy from Jersey Shore and this Jersey Shore family vacation which is a follow on series.

Diana:

She also did a spin off show with J wow called Snooki and JWoww which she was also a writer and producer on.

Diana:

in the Three Stooges movie in:

Diana:

Our Cuthbert Sinclair was played by Kavan Smith.

Diana:

K V A N is the first name.

Diana:

He's in a handful of supernatural episodes different as different characters.

Diana:

He has also been in episodes of Buffy the Crow, Outer Limits, Smallville, True Calling, Battlestar Galactica and a lot of the Stargate associated shows.

Diana:

He was Nicholas in the movie Mission to Mars.

Diana:

reoccurring character in the:

Diana:

Lola, our demon was played by Rebecca Marshall.

Diana:

She's been in episodes of CSI Miami, Two and a Half Men.

Diana:

She had a very small role in Repo Genetic Opera and was Suzanne in Saw 3D.

Diana:

Dr.

Diana:

McElroy, our researcher was played by Laura Soltis.

Diana:

She's been in episodes of Arrow Schitt's Creek, Death, Death in Ohio a handful of times.

Diana:

She was a stylist in Step Up, all in, and she's done a ton of Hallmark as well.

Diana:

And then Andre Devlin, our facilitator of the sale, was played by Mario Soriano.

Diana:

He's been in episodes of Fringe, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Lucifer, Arrow, Nancy Drew, Kung Fu, and had a small role in Always Be My.

Diana:

Maybe.

Diana:

So, yeah, no, I'm very torn about this episode because it felt very incongruous in a lot of ways.

Diana:

Like you said, like, the battle between the brothers was kind of just like not there.

Diana:

Some of it just didn't really line up canon wise.

Diana:

But it was fun and weird.

Diana:

I don't know.

Diana:

Like, I.

Diana:

It makes me very torn about it.

Diana:

Does that make sense?

Liz:

Full of cool stuff.

Diana:

Yeah.

Diana:

I mean, that was kind of a neat storyline, like having the secret man of letters dude who's just been hiding out in this house.

Diana:

It's also kind of fucking depressing, by the way.

Diana:

But like, it was interesting in that way.

Diana:

But it was also, it just, it just felt like it.

Diana:

I don't know, it carried the story forward, which is important with Crowley and the First Blade and Abaddon, but also like, it was just weird in that, like those little bits that you, like, you pointed out that just didn't fit with what's going on in the rest of the storyline either.

Liz:

Yeah, no, I mean, I like the name Cuthbert.

Liz:

I wish he wasn't so gross because he seems like it's one of those things.

Liz:

He's very Crowley, alas.

Liz:

Or Crowley like, you know, I think probably a lot of this was perhaps based on that too.

Liz:

Just the idea of the, you know, the chaos magician.

Liz:

But yeah, I mean, duh, of course, all the men letters are dead bonds.

Diana:

There you go.

Diana:

Yeah.

Liz:

But beyond that, I mean, I, I don't, you know, I hope Crowley's clean now.

Liz:

I hope he can stick to his program.

Liz:

Does he get.

Liz:

I hope he gets a chip that says like, I've been blood free for like a week, you know, and even maybe like goes to a meeting and.

Diana:

Yeah, but that mean it would have to be the same and Dean and they aren't going to be supporting, supportive.

Diana:

Is Dean his sponsor?

Liz:

I.

Liz:

I think Dean would want to be his sponsor probably, but I don't think Dean's in the right position to be doing anybody's sponsor right now.

Liz:

I think you're correct because he's getting boners while he's holding a donkey.

Liz:

Old donkey teeth.

Diana:

Yeah, Old donkey teeth.

Liz:

All right.

Liz:

Anything besides old donkey teeth?

Diana:

No?

Liz:

All right.

Liz:

And then cheers.

Liz:

Jerk.

Diana:
