[00:00:00] Scott: Welcome everyone to the Last Video Store Clerks podcast with Frank and Scott. The days of blockbuster Hollywood and the independent video store are over. But searching the shelves for that special overlooked movie will never end. The one that really sticks with you forever. Let's drown ourselves in a sea of streaming services.

[:

[00:00:29] Frank: Clerks.

[:

[00:00:49] Frank: Emile Hirsch where he goes and finds the bus in the It's in the, it's like out in the open. No,

[:

[00:01:02] Scott: And I'm like, Well, you know that kid fucking died, right? Check it out. Like, that doesn't seem like a good idea.

[:

[00:01:20] Scott: They're eating fucking berries and shit that they shouldn't have eaten. Yeah. Yep. Diarrhea.

[:

[00:01:35] Scott: Should have just pushed it into the river as far as I'm fucking concerned.

[:

[00:01:45] Frank: time. Well, Alaska, I think it's 4th of July every year they do this thing where they drive cars off a cliff. It's like a dirt, big ass dirt cliff. It looks dirt. I don't know. I want to call it a mountain, but I mean, it looks like a really big dirt cliff.

[:

[00:02:17] Frank: But I'm like, what about that one crazy guy that gets a little more speed out of it than he's supposed to? Everybody's just at the

[:

[00:02:28] Frank: Don't get me wrong, if I was up there I'd probably be like, I wanna go see the cars go off the fucking thing! We're here!

[:

[00:02:39] Scott: morning! It's fucking daylight all the time!

[:

[00:02:47] Scott: I watched this show, Wilderness. And it had a voiceover I didn't like. Oh. Oh. It was about a girl.

[:

[00:03:16] Scott: And then she ends up like, fucking pushing him. But it's not him. So the story is compelling. Is it a series or a movie? Yeah, it's a, it's like a six episode mini series. Okay. It was based on a book. It would have been pretty good if it didn't have a stupid voiceover. Like, it didn't need the voiceover. And it cheapened it.

[:

[00:03:57] Scott: It's a Prime original series. Jenna Coleman and, uh, I forget the guy's name, but he was in Haunting of Hill House. He played Luke, the younger brother, all grown up.

[:

[00:04:11] Scott: Yeah, a little bit. He has that, he's British though.

[:

[00:04:14] Frank: Well, I mean, at a glance he has that

[:

[00:04:29] Frank: go. And I'm sure it looked pretty.

[:

[00:04:32] Scott: Fucking voiceover,

[:

[00:04:42] Scott: watch it? That might have been good without a voiceover. I also agree.

[:

[00:04:50] Frank: Done, bitch. You know, I was like, nope. Didn't even give it the twenty fucking minutes. There's ways

[:

[00:05:07] Scott: And that's when voiceover works really well. Or it's somebody telling a story like verbal in usual suspect. So, there's ways to do it right, but if it's just I'm talking to you because I didn't know how to adapt this book any other way, other than to put this fucking voiceover in there, that's cheap. It's terrible.

[:

[00:05:33] Frank: another Chernobyl

[:

[00:05:42] Frank: I mean, I've seen the documentaries, the... Mini things the so like Chernobyl cafe something like that babushkas of Chernobyl

[:

[00:05:53] Frank: like yeah, they're real.

[:

[00:06:00] Scott: You're gonna be buying like Bootlegs of documentaries made in Russia about Chernobyl. After I watched I want to see the Russian point of view.

[:

[00:06:14] Frank: But on HBO, there's one Chernobyl tapes. So it's the Russian propaganda from when it really happened. Like, because they were trying to document it to be like, Yeah, look, everything's cool. But it turned out it was just documenting, like, what the fuck happened. That got onto HBO after the series. So it's funny that she said that, but yeah, I mean, and then yeah, sci fi horror, Chernobyl Diaries.

[:

[00:06:44] Scott: You know, weird thing I noticed when I was watching scary movies. Cause I watched Scary Movie 3, I think I couldn't find 4, 4 is not on HBO, I think that's what it was.

[:

[00:07:15] Frank: four. That's random. How random is that?

[:

[00:07:19] Scott: so random, dude. No, no, he wrote four. David Zucker directed it. Okay.

[:

[00:07:30] Scott: Superhero Movie. He wrote the screenplay for Identity Thief with Jason Bateman and And Melissa McCarthy? Yes. Uh, he wrote The Hangover 3. The Huntsman.

[:

[00:07:43] Frank: That's, that's quite... But it's weird

[:

[00:08:01] Scott: So he's

[:

[00:08:06] Scott: first screenplay was Rocketman with

[:

[00:08:16] Scott: That has nothing to do with Rocketman. But I'm, it's completely different. But Blankman, anyway.

[:

[00:08:26] Frank: Uh, Land of the Lost, man. I had to get some more parallel. Yeah, and Danny McBride. I never even finished Eastbound and Down. I've got a bad, I've got trouble with getting about, uh, two episodes in. You got a

[:

[00:08:38] Scott: Nah. He's cool, man. I want him to take his shirt off, but I don't want him to take his pants... off.

[:

[00:08:57] Scott: Did Danny McBride write Land of the Lost?

[:

[00:09:04] Frank: Whee! Oh, maybe. Oh, maybe nope. No, he did not but uh, it was great But look at shaka look at the credit dude. See who that is. No, who you might have caught him in a movie called popstar

[:

[00:09:44] Scott: him.

[:

[00:09:53] Scott: it. He's a rapr, isn't he? Yeah. He had a, he's like a door rapist, right? People say he

[:

[00:10:03] Scott: um, alleged door rapist.

[:

[00:10:06] Frank: is in Land of the Lost . But I mean, at the time it, he was very, you know, it was relevant before, so it does have a special place with me anyway. What'd you

[:

[00:10:25] Frank: Good thing he's got a deviated septum that they talked about ten minutes prior, huh?

[:

[00:10:34] Scott: this little girl? Like, how has it progressed to this where he's like the father but her, his, her uncle is around too? I'm so confused about the relationships that they have on this fuckin submerged base.

[:

[00:10:51] Scott: again they didn't get the fucking windows right in this fucking

[:

[00:10:54] Frank: But the deviated septum.

[:

[00:11:05] Frank: World? How about the comic relief though? Look,

[:

[00:11:11] Frank: get me wrong. It's a great, it's a great horrible movie. It's a wonderful garbage fire.

[:

[00:11:24] Scott: Yeah, I enjoyed it. On the serious side, I watched Reptile.

[:

[00:11:35] Frank: I'm like, ooh, where's it going?

[:

[00:11:53] Frank: Bingo. It's been a while, guys.

[:

[00:12:05] Scott: you, I mean, right. You haven't finished it. So, yeah. Yeah. Yes. It's gonna go

[:

[00:12:17] Frank: And I was like, don't get into this here. So I don't do

[:

[00:12:21] Frank: Yeah. I did it for about 10 minutes while I scarfed it like my sub and then I

[:

[00:12:37] Scott: Okay. But maybe would. I, I hold it in high esteem. Anything else, or? Man, no. I, uh, Oh! I watch Dead Ringers. Been watching Dead Ringers. On Amazon. It's a remake of the David Cronenberg movie with, uh, Jeremy Irons. Isn't the Cronenberg movie? But it's, uh, Rachel Weisz. That's

[:

[00:13:04] Scott: Linden wasn't in anything.

[:

[00:13:13] Frank: Yeah, Rachel Weisz. Rachel Weisz. Yeah. Oh, that one. Yeah. That one. That's a series, not a movie.

[:

[00:13:34] Frank: it was a series. Okay. Yeah,

[:

[00:13:41] Scott: So, Ricky Baker. No, that's Wilder people. Yeah. You think the Pope doesn't shit in the woods.

[:

[00:14:00] Frank: Um, yeah, so, I mean, what, we're getting into the Thanksgiving spirit? Yeah. You know, it's the thing that

[:

[00:14:09] Frank: other. People want to skip it. It's in between Halloween and Christmas. So, I mean, it's great for the, great for the grub.

[:

[00:14:20] Scott: In fact, when we watched this movie, Kelly thought I was talking about Pilgrim, the horror movie. Don't know if I ever saw that. Well, we meant to watch it on Thanksgiving several years ago. It was on Hulu. It probably still is. Uh huh. And then we didn't, and I was talking about it, and for some reason Kelly thought that that's what we were watching.

[:

[00:14:43] Frank: Dutch, which truly is

[:

[00:14:52] Frank: everybody else did. This was more often, and this, as I watched it, I knew this entire movie.

[:

[00:15:03] Scott: weird. Really, I didn't

[:

[00:15:08] Scott: anyway. I watched this movie a lot. My mom loved this fucking movie. This movie

[:

[00:15:15] Frank: Yeah,

[:

[00:15:19] Frank: bum ba dum Ba dum bum ba dum Was that not, like, that was like a touch of the 80s and the 90s, huh?

[:

[00:15:36] Scott: I couldn't find it

[:

[00:15:52] Scott: Yeah, I loved this movie.

[:

[00:16:07] Frank: little more harder than before. Maybe we can make it better.

[:

[00:16:19] Frank: I'm telling you, man, that's what I'm saying.

[:

[00:16:34] Scott: pounds? Every time, like... Soda and Doritos?

[:

[00:16:40] Frank: a child... Dude, Doritos and Pop Tarts, Ding Dongs, soda. And why are your hands still orange? Processed cheese squares. With the little, the little plastic, you know, craft singles. Dude, that was the diet. What did I even eat? Oh, is that my gra goulash? Ha ha ha!

[:

[00:17:05] Frank: remember like, the stor Half my stories are like, my grandpa was like, Boy, you ain't got enough German in ya! Ha ha

[:

[00:17:13] Frank: Yeah, dude, sorry I didn't eat the fat on the steak.

[:

[00:17:21] Scott: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's just like scrapple. It's just a bunch of shit somebody put together.

[:

[00:17:40] Frank: There we go. Hitting buttons. So, yeah. Um, Dutch m

[:

[00:17:57] Frank: for years It's not we've talked about it. And so we look for it and it never pops up on any streaming service What it was it wasn't even for rent on

[:

[00:18:10] Scott: That was the other that's right.

[:

[00:18:16] Scott: But it's back and it's at HBO. Mm hmm.

[:

[00:18:29] Scott: ha ha ha! You eat pieces of shit

[:

[00:18:33] Frank: Reed tells Natalie that he will have to break his Thanksgiving plans with their son Doyle. And I mean, he's obviously a repeat offender, right? Like, this isn't the first time he's cancelled plans with his

[:

[00:18:47] Frank: He looked pretty fucking snobby proper. Proper snob.

[:

[00:19:05] Scott: it. And that's how you know it's the 80s, early 90s, cause some strange man can just go pick your kid up from a private school in another state.

[:

[00:19:32] Frank: And the kid refuses to go by, assaulting him in a variety of ways. In the end, Dutch hog ties Doyle, throws him in the car and the two embark on a journey of mishaps and screwing with one another that will ultimately bond them together and change Doyle's worldview. He really wakes up there towards the end, right?

[:

[00:19:56] Scott: twist. And it was. Written by fuckin John Hughes who wrote Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I did

[:

[00:20:05] Scott: I didn't

[:

[00:20:08] Frank: And back then I'm not even sure if I knew John Hughes, what he did. But um, yeah, I saw that, I was like, of course. It

[:

[00:20:23] Frank: yeah, how about Dutch's music selection? I liked it. Uh, some of it was like Don, uh, John Candy, you know, uh, Uncle Buck.

[:

[00:20:34] Frank: They couldn't have him driving more. I know that was random as fuck, but think about it. Planes, trams, and automobiles. They switch off too close. Even in Uncle Buck, he's got that shitty car. So him driving is like always emphasized. I feel like in that one.

[:

[00:20:47] Scott: really wanted to do this movie last year, but it was nowhere to be found. It was. It was directed by Peter Feyman and stars Ed O'Neill as Dutch Dooley, Ethan Embry, at the time credited as Ethan Randall, as Doyle Standish, Jo Beth Williams as Natalie Standish. Jo Beth Williams.

[:

[00:21:06] Frank: So pretty. She's from Texas.

[:

[00:21:12] Frank: Yeah, I don't like to talk about parts of that movie cuz some of that shit freaks

[:

[00:21:27] Frank: Yeah, wasn't she like when those like crop top shirts in that movie at one point to like the Jersey style cloth one Like almost like a baseball tee crop.

[:

[00:21:36] Scott: like cracking up smoking that joint In the bedroom. Do they smoke a joint in Poltergeist? Yeah, they smoke a joint in Poltergeist. No. Yeah, because I brought it into school. On the last day, because we were gonna watch movies for the last day of school. And it's rated PG. And the rule was that it needed to be rated PG, so I brought that in.

[:

[00:22:12] Frank: Nah, JoBeth though, man, and yeah, looking her up in this one, yeah, from Texas.

[:

[00:22:17] Scott: shout out. And Christopher McDonald, Shooter McGavin. Shooter, fuckin McGavin.

[:

[00:22:25] Scott: you in the parking lot. Ha ha ha

[:

[00:22:31] Scott: It's Mr. Gilmore's jacket. Ha ha ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha. Fuckin Dale. Ha ha ha ha.

[:

[00:22:43] Scott: received by critics and the box office, and according to Ed O'Neill, John Hughes had talked him up about future projects and then never spoke to him again when the movie bombed.

[:

[00:23:06] Frank: 5 on IMDb, I believe. Yeah, 6. 5 IMDb. Did it really bomb in theaters?

[:

[00:23:15] Scott: Okay,

[:

[00:23:20] Scott: on HBO. You're one of the only people I've ever, like, talked to and was like, Yeah, I watched that. Over and over again when I was a kid. It was some weird thing. We talked about it in high school. Like, yeah, Dutch is so good.

[:

[00:23:39] Frank: or something. But since then, people generally know what Dutch is. Like, what movie I'm talking about. Do they really? Now, yeah. Maybe it was one of those first ones on Netflix or something. I

[:

[00:23:53] Scott: At some point in the last 10 to 15 years.

[:

[00:24:06] Scott: man. It was a warm, happy place. I love plane, trains, and automobiles. I've seen it a bunch of times now, but this was the most realistic depiction of, like, a family to me.

[:

[00:24:27] Frank: what is it with these big ass houses in Chicago?

[:

[00:24:33] Frank: stuck on big ass houses in Chicago.

[:

[00:24:39] Frank: Seems like it.

[:

[00:24:42] Scott: He was like, that's just a normal sized house, Kevin McAllister.

[:

[00:24:51] Scott: washing money for the mob or something. Irish mafia.

[:

[00:25:01] Scott: to France?

[:

[00:25:07] Frank: right? I'm sure. Yeah, I've never really broken it down. I've never sorted the McAllister's out. Cause what's the head count on kids 16, 17? 16 or 17 is the number. Ooh, that's some trivial shit right there.

[:

[00:25:23] Scott: adults. No wonder He got a lovely cheese pizza just for him. Yeah,

[:

[00:25:32] Scott: Biff.

[:

[00:25:35] Scott: Biff

[:

[00:25:38] Frank: Fucking Biff and Buzz, man. I'm sorry. Only so many names. I tried. No, but uh, so yeah, Ethan Randall. I swore at one point, the last time I saw this. I was so proud that I knew that it said Randall, that I swear I saw Ethan Embry in the credits, and I was convinced that they had changed it, and I was like, you can't do that.

[:

[00:26:02] Scott: most in life. Yeah, maybe still a little bit too. He's just really, he's in shape. You guys have a

[:

[00:26:15] Frank: You see he's got the slender face. If I had the slender face, that'd be, that'd be, I'd be close to that. He's

[:

[00:26:20] Frank: like seen, I mean, are you finding topless photos? I, yeah,

[:

[00:26:27] Frank: Skin, dude. You know what I mean? He's got the hair and sometimes wears t shirts, so it makes perfect fucking

[:

[00:26:34] Scott: Cheetah.

[:

[00:26:47] Scott: but

[:

[00:26:55] Frank: I think it

[:

[00:26:58] Frank: Yeah, he was only like a one up, but I was like, yeah! It's Rex Manning Day.

[:

[00:27:12] Frank: Hey, did you appreciate how like leaves from one of the plants was on his coat outside and inside?

[:

[00:27:26] Scott: Reed Standish molested her. Yeah,

[:

[00:27:31] Scott: like, fucking ran his finger up that lady's spine. Hey. And she was like, only kind of into it when she turned around and saw it.

[:

[00:27:44] Frank: at that stash. That's that's og porn stash

[:

[00:27:52] Frank: Yeah I what you're only here cuz your parents are

[:

[00:28:00] Frank: dude.

[:

[00:28:10] Scott: little fucker kicks it now that you mentioned it They did really Drive home that he was shitty to just a little shit, you know, like above the working class people.

[:

[00:28:23] Scott: above them. And yet he was being bullied at school. Yeah. All the other kids thought he was a dick too. All the other prep school kids in Georgia. What the fuck? How many, uh, private schools are in Georgia? Isn't

[:

[00:28:41] Frank: It looked more like the Northeast. It

[:

[00:28:50] Frank: Even the

[:

[00:28:53] Frank: No! Um, I was like wrong setting man, like I feel like I'm watching with honors. Nobody's

[:

[00:29:03] Scott: Straight up hog tied to a hockey stick. That was the cover of the movie I remembered. Really small in the center. Covers are kinda small in the center. Yes. Like it was just hit, like the cut out of him. That was the cover wasn't it? Yeah.

[:

[00:29:19] Frank: Or were they smaller? Am I making that up? Damn. I know what you're talking about

[:

[00:29:36] Frank: Somebody got crucified in this motherfucker.

[:

[00:29:43] Scott: is like one of the bigger scenes of my childhood. I remember being like, That guy's so fun. Yeah. This little fucking turd.

[:

[00:29:56] Frank: You're in Tennessee. True story. Yeah, they sell fireworks all the time.

[:

[00:30:04] Frank: Uh, and he said it right there. He really is trying. And I mean, this is like his girlfriend's son that he's never met. You can tell he's like, he's a nice guy, but he's like rough around the edges, but he's willing to put it out there and like spoil this kid on a road trip back to see his mom for Thanksgiving.

[:

[00:30:40] Frank: But at the time when this came out, it did make me excited that that was the guy from

[:

[00:30:44] Scott: Yeah, and it was right there. Like the same way In the

[:

[00:30:58] Scott: with it. And his fucking, just some of the lines he said.

[:

[00:31:07] Frank: He's old school, and this is, it's one of those movies.

[:

[00:31:16] Frank: I thought so. Which is a luxury. it was a Ford? Did he? I mean, it's Ford Lincoln Mercury. Oh, okay. So, I mean, you, I, but it, I mean,

[:

[00:31:26] Scott: I remember it was Ford Mercury. Always

[:

[00:31:31] Scott: Oh, that's right. Yeah. Got to associate. This is American as apple pie. But not apples, they came from the Dutch. Continental

[:

[00:31:46] Scott: I just listened to an audio book with Will Patton.

[:

[00:31:51] Frank: I know the postman probably too well, but when he realizes, he's like, Shakespeare. And he gives that Will Patton look off, that look

[:

[00:32:02] Frank: Ha ha ha! He saw the Mothman.

[:

[00:32:08] Frank: Anyway, um, Yeah, but yeah, he was like an old school kind of guy, but he was trying to instill those lessons in, into little, uh, Doyle but yeah, he makes him walk.

[:

[00:32:20] Scott: he's finally fucking over it. My mom would have done to me. Yeah, in fact I think my mom did do it to me a couple times I like got out of the car and she was like fine

[:

[00:32:31] Scott: prove a point. You were gonna really fucking regret doing

[:

[00:32:42] Frank: That's the, those are the lessons you learned. In the

[:

[00:32:54] Frank: in East Austin, I could go blocks away and be away for hours.

[:

[00:33:01] Frank: Oh, I mean, there was a chance of crackheads, prostitutes, and dead bodies in the creeks that we were walking

[:

[00:33:18] Frank: and grimy the fucking menu won't even come apart.

[:

[00:33:24] Scott: they are now. That's why you gotta watch that movie, Totally Killer. On Amazon Prime. They do some 80s jokes where it's like they're smoking in the car with kids. Like the car is just like full of smoke. Dropping kids off at school.

[:

[00:33:47] Scott: Um. I mean he's smoking a cigar in the car like. He does

[:

[00:34:00] Frank: Yeah, it's probably still hot though. Yeah, in horror movies, scary movies, it's like, Oh, they wait for it to pop and then they're

[:

[00:34:10] Frank: No, I always knew it was hot. Did you touch it? Oh

[:

[00:34:17] Frank: years.

[:

[00:34:21] Scott: Oh no, I was afraid of that.

[:

[00:34:25] Scott: through that. I burnt myself many times. Electrocuted myself only once.

[:

[00:34:36] Scott: Who gave you an onion ring when you were two?

[:

[00:34:41] Frank: I'm pretty sure it was, we were visiting her mom at the coast which would have probably been the only time I ever saw her in life and that's when it happened. From the best of my recollection, what they told me. Did you pull it out? No, man, but it's weird because being that like I can vaguely remember it happening because it was like couldn't

[:

[00:35:04] Frank: It's weird as shit.

[:

[00:35:18] Scott: After he fucks his car up, also when did he get out of that car? Driven me crazy since I was a kid. When did he get out?

[:

[00:35:37] Frank: Right

[:

[00:35:41] Frank: was one of those guys who was in a lot back then. Nah, I couldn't tell you anything off Biker guy? Probably a biker in a lot of things. Mickey

[:

[00:35:56] Scott: Hmm. Burley Minor. Total Recall. Trucker in Starman. Oh! Ooh. Until later in his career where he's like, Gunther and Rucker. And Hank and Willie.

[:

[00:36:12] Scott: truly is. Yeah, but he's one of those guys that you're like, Ah, if that's a guy.

[:

[00:36:21] Frank: Truck's coming, it's got that big ass, like, grill guard on, like, a semi truck. Smashes the car, it gets fucked up. The bumper and headlight on the right side are clearly fucked. Like, next scene, it's just fine coming back

[:

[00:36:38] Scott: stuff when I'm researching, but I was like, there's nothing about this movie. There's no like interviews with people in it, about it or anything.

[:

[00:36:52] Scott: I swear though, if I ever met Ed O'Neill in real life, that would be the first thing out of my mouth was I would be like, Dutch was like a huge part of my fucking childhood, man.

[:

[00:37:02] Frank: he get out of the car? How did he get

[:

[00:37:09] Frank: Uh, If it wasn't for your daddy, boy! Ha

[:

[00:37:13] Frank: ha ha. Uhhh. But yeah, so then they continue the journey. More turmoil. Is this where the homebound hookers come into play? Somewhere

[:

[00:37:30] Frank: Until this time. Yeah. Yeah. And then I was like, did she like lick and suck on his finger to get it wet? And then it came and I was like, yes, she did. Okay. And check this out as a kid. I thought the other chick was like super hot. Right. I was like, yeah, she's cute. Cause that

[:

[00:37:43] Scott: And you're a kid, you know.

[:

[00:38:01] Frank: 12

[:

[00:38:07] Frank: is what is Dutch? Talk to him about like it happened. What is he talking about later? Remember

[:

[00:38:22] Scott: Well,

[:

[00:38:34] Scott: brother. I'm just a titty

[:

[00:38:42] Frank: Like, what the fuck? Because then when they're talking, she just seems so. But it is funny when she's like, well, once he finds out the blonde one robbed him, I was just starting to feel respectable. Damn straight hooker talk.

[:

[00:39:03] Scott: Like, do people still steal people's shoes?

[:

[00:39:12] Scott: them? Yeah. Did you notice the homeless man

[:

[00:39:18] Scott: just a prop department joke or something?

[:

[00:39:21] Frank: was gonna ask you did you find anything? I didn't find anything

[:

[00:39:32] Frank: So that would be a really good

[:

[00:39:36] Frank: He was so just never realized that before but is that was that our message?

[:

[00:39:48] Frank: Mm hmm. But yeah first catch on that one I feel like did not feel like that was familiar. No, it's right there in front

[:

[00:40:02] Frank: That really was.

[:

[00:40:20] Scott: Everything. It was on like every PPG glass window I saw that

[:

[00:40:29] Frank: I was like, damn, man. Early 90s.

[:

[00:40:34] Frank: on. Of all things, yeah. This little, yeah.

[:

[00:40:51] Scott: I feel like

[:

[00:40:53] Scott: She's been in a lot of random things. Yeah. So, I mean, really, she was, she's pretty young in this. Mm. But, yeah, I was like, fucking Rose from Lost! Ha ha ha!

[:

[00:41:06] Scott: in the back of the plane. He just got a job with a duly constructed...

[:

[00:41:11] Frank: ha! It all makes sense! Yeah. And, you know, I didn't have a ton of notes on this. I was enjoying watching it, you know, remembering as I went along the song and the credits again, must say I got hyped when I heard it, but I really liked

[:

[00:41:32] Scott: He does almost give up though. I

[:

[00:41:36] Scott: defeated. Yeah. And. I think what he wanted to do at the start was impress his girlfriend. Of course. Because JoBeth Williams, that's a catch right there. She's got that big hair. The big chill. Were there shoulder

[:

[00:41:53] Scott: I'm sure there were.

[:

[00:41:57] Frank: there were shoulder pads in Jaws the Revenge.

[:

[00:42:04] Frank: Got some fingers on him, doesn't he?

[:

[00:42:10] Frank: Laughter

[:

[00:42:15] Frank: He comes down to earth. Doyle.

[:

[00:42:21] Scott: you know what I also thought was crazy was this movie is two hours long for that time period. Do you think that's why the movie bombed that extra 15 minutes? Like people were like, those too long . Well, 'cause 1991, a two hour movie. Yeah. Do you think 90

[:

[00:42:40] Frank: I think

[:

[00:42:50] Frank: You know what's a two VHS? Titanic.

[:

[00:43:02] Frank: Gangs of New York was a two taper. It probably was.

[:

[00:43:21] Frank: Cause he's like, I figure one day they're going to be like vinyl. It's probably right. And if you have the sealed copy and they started showing clips of how, and it was like, Packages just stacked up inside his place dude of like VHS. He'd ordered from people because they were still sealed

[:

[00:43:37] Scott: My thought was it was still deteriorated even if it's wrapped. Well, here's

[:

[00:43:52] Scott: Oh, you mean when you shrink wrap it? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[:

[00:44:14] Scott: So...

[:

[00:44:18] Scott: It's the thought that counts. It makes me like him a little

[:

[00:44:27] Frank: Yeah,

[:

[00:44:31] Frank: Like I said, I've got my Starship Troopers and my Jurassic Parker on a bookshelf in my room, like in my office, cuz I just, I'm not gonna let him out of my sight

[:

[00:44:43] Frank: Psycho VHS.

[:

[00:44:50] Scott: I kept a few around. I have The Max, the HBO Max, the collected, the whole thing. What? The cartoon. Oh! Gotcha. Oh, sorry, MTV. MTV. Wait. The Max. Superhero, homeless man. My hair, sometimes. Mr.

[:

[00:45:09] Scott: and I was like, no.

[:

[00:45:23] Scott: But then the fucking dad shows up at the end. I had forgot the last beat of this movie. Oh, the bump? I remembered the punch where he bops him in the head.

[:

[00:45:36] Scott: You did? No, no, no, no, not that. Like, I forgot that they get home and he gives the guy a job. The homeless man. You didn't remember that?

[:

[00:45:55] Frank: No. From the second they got to the shelter, that's when it really kicked in for me. They

[:

[00:46:02] Frank: in front of it.

[:

[00:46:19] Scott: Yeah, they had plenty of money the whole time.

[:

[00:46:29] Scott: The fucking Dutch, he, he like, he loved the mom so much that he basically became a homeless man with a

[:

[00:46:35] Frank: Yeah. There was a lot of pride involved, of course.

[:

[00:46:54] Scott: Yeah. You know? That's your job. That's what stepdads should do. But they jump in as dad. But if they tried to be your friend... You'd have less fucked up people or to be perfectly honest like stepdads have fucked up some

[:

[00:47:10] Scott: good good man, little goofy. All right to have him as a stepdad What's wrong with goofy let you walk off being a fucking baby about

[:

[00:47:17] Frank: Oh, yeah. Nah This dude would definitely not allow you to be a little bitch about anything.

[:

[00:47:24] Frank: and like, you know, I haven't even looked into what other Thanksgiving movies are Thanksgiving movies. But this is truly a Thanksgiving movie. It's not like we cover Thanksgiving on the way to the Christmas finale.

[:

[00:47:43] Scott: maybe that's the one thing John Hughes really captured is Thanksgiving is mostly just getting there. Like that episode of King of the Hill where they get stuck in the airport with the turkey.

[:

[00:47:54] Scott: remember that one offhand. He's just so fucking worried about the turkey. I think the bomb squad blows it up on the runway. Such a good show. But yeah, I'm glad we finally found this

[:

[00:48:12] Scott: if you haven't seen Dutch... You probably aren't this far into the episode, but

[:

[00:48:22] Frank: Yeah. Yep. Almost a year and a half, I'd

[:

[00:48:41] Scott: No, we're gonna watch, we're gonna watch some things. Uh, we're a little far back in time. We just wanted to make sure that we would get this done. So I don't exactly know what the next movie is, but we know that how we're going to end when we get to Christmas, Die Hard versus Home Alone.

[:

[00:49:05] Scott: A lovely cheese pizza just for me, motherfucker. You filthy animal. Ha ha

[:

[00:49:26] Frank: com.
