In the final week of divisional play, the Bad Axe Hatchets had the opportunity to clinch the Greater Thumb West outright with a victory. Instead, the Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers upset the Hatchets 21-20 to force a three-way split of the West title between Reese, Bad Axe and Lakers. Bad Axe scored halfway through the 4th quarter to come within one point, but failed on the two-point conversion. Later, the Hatchets missed a 35-yard field goal , wide right, giving the ball back to the Lakers to run out the clock.
