Shownotes

Self-awareness is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves, and also one of the hardest.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about why self-awareness is important (and also sucks). As we begin doing inner work, we often become painfully aware of habits, reactions, and patterns we'd rather not see. It can feel uncomfortable, and yeah, even a little discouraging.

But becoming aware of those parts of ourselves isn't the goal. The goal is to learn to understand them with curiosity, rather than judgment. When we approach ourselves with compassion rather than shame, self-awareness becomes less about “fixing” ourselves and more about understanding ourselves.

The good news? Self-awareness isn't something we're born with - it’s something we can practice. The process may feel uncomfortable at first, but with grace and patience, greater awareness leads to greater healing, healthier relationships, and the kind of good movement that begins with us!

In this episode, I cover:

  • Why self-awareness often feels uncomfortable at first
  • How self-awareness is different from self-judgment
  • How unhelpful behaviors often begin as protective strategies + choosing to get curious when you notice these
  • Why self-awareness is the first step toward good movement & lasting change
  • Simple ways you can grow your self-awareness
