In this episode of The FAFO Podcast, I sit down with technology leader, entrepreneur, author, and podcast host Ryan Drumheller to talk about what happens when the career you spent years building suddenly takes a dogleg.

Ryan spent more than 20 years working in technology and leadership, but his road there was anything but traditional. He didn't start college until he was 29, went on to earn more than 170 professional certifications, and built a career leading technology organizations across multiple industries.

But success doesn't always mean you're headed in the right direction.

We talk about toxic workplaces, difficult leaders, career setbacks, AI, entrepreneurship, starting over, and knowing when it's finally time to change direction. Ryan also shares the story behind his upcoming memoir, From Firewalls to Fairways: How a Career in IT Led Me to Golf, which uses a round of golf—and all the bad shots, recovery shots, hazards and unexpected turns that come with it—as a metaphor for career and life.

We also get into Dogleg Digital, Ryan's move into the golf industry, lifelong learning, leadership, and why sometimes the shot that goes completely off course is the one that changes everything.

Technology, golf, reinvention, a few career scars, and plenty of rabbit holes along the way.
