Good news listeners, you already have some kind of network, it may be small, big, weak, strong but the good thing is that you’ve already got something - you’re not starting from zero!
Phew!
But have you ever sat down and asked yourself who your closest connections are and why are they your closest? How invested in your success are they, how invested in their success are you? Who among the people you know are just acquaintances? It’s important to make sure you surround yourself with really solid people.
One lesson most people learn late in life when it comes to making connections is, the connections you make should not be toxic. They should be healthy ones. Do not. I repeat, do not surround yourself with toxic, garbage people. You and your future have no room for that shit.
If you are doing this analysis for the first time, some unexpected things might come up, you might have realizations and “aha” moments, this is good, we need to have these realizations; so that we can work on things going forward.
You are the nucleus in your network, and you might realize that some of electrons spinning around you, that you thought were close to you are actually not so close or maybe even toxic. You might realize that you have less electrons than you should (look at me using that biology degree after all!). The aim of this analysis is to understand your network and your relationships as they exist now so that we can work on things going forward.
In this lesson I teach you how to break down your network into circles, of 5, 15, 50, and 100+ and discuss the strength and value of each of those circles. So tune in to understand exactly where your network stands today.
If you have not listened to the first podcast; where I explain how networking impacted me and why I want to give you all the networking tools you need; I highly recommend you go back and give it a listen.
