Shownotes
Today, Amy is welcoming Dr. Nate Zinsser to the podcast. She met Doc Z just a few months ago at the CREI Summit, and he was a keynote speaker. Doc Z has been at West Point for over 30 years and is a world-class sports and performance mindset consultant. His career has been spent training the top minds at the U.S Military Academy as they prepare to lead and perform when the stakes are the very highest. Doc Z has extensive experience in advising professional, Olympic, and D-1 collegiate athletes as well as surgeons, corporate team leaders, and military units.
Doc Z’s research has been published, and it helped him to launch a highly successful magazine--Sports Illustrated for Kids. He also has a new book out to discuss called The Confident Mind. Something he’s come to understand is that one key trait to success is confidence.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
- Doc Z’s background in sports, psychology, and how he landed a career at West Point.
- How technology has both helped sports and has also become a distraction over time, and what schools and sports organizations are doing to combat the effects of social media.
- What inspired him to write The Confident Mind, what the 10,000-hour rule is, and why practice must be deliberate.
- How you can implement effort, success, and progress (ESP) into your day in order to allow your experience to work for you and increase your confidence.
- Why the book Breathing for Warriors and using its techniques can help you access your unconscious capability.
- Doc Z’s final piece of advice for combatting your negativity bias.
