Highly accomplished and versatile, Samuel Gordon has navigated through the financial and accounting sectors while establishing his roots in Japan. Now a partner at his accounting firm, Samuel tells us how his multiracial family background, studies in political economy, and an interest in Japan’s post-war economic ascent surpassing the other non-Western countries nurtured his existential connection to Japan, which he considers “home” for the foreseeable future. Samuel experienced the Lehman shock from Lehman’s London office. He attributes the vast network of ex-colleagues dispersed into other companies as a silver lining to the financial turmoil.
