[:

[00:00:23] Eric Goranson: this is around the house. Welcome to around the house with Eric G and Caroline B. This is the midweek special. This is what we do every single week between the. Maybe it's that stuff that didn't make it into last week and it's not gonna make it into this. Week's hello, Caroline. How are.

[:

[00:00:45] Caroline Blazovsky: Yeah. Right? Like literally just the tan I've ever seen you blurry and, and smoking

[:

[00:01:08] Eric Goranson: you and Snoop dogs. Ew. Oh yeah. So anyway, we're having a fun time, right?

[:

[00:01:21] Eric Goranson: you know, that might have been. This last week in Orlando, Florida, and Kasumi at the Gaylor palms. That was nice. It's cool. When you can go work and have a great time at a trade show, still have an hour and a half to go hit the pool in the hot tub in the Florida sun, and then go to your evening event.

[:

[00:01:42] Caroline Blazovsky: The question is working hard are hardly working. You look like you were hardly working. No, I know you were working hard, but he looks like he's so refreshed.

[:

[00:02:02] Eric Goranson: And we were hanging out with people, you know, like Walt. Tomala from T and T contractors. Oh, LA Tomala. Yeah. So we were hanging out and, uh, having a good time. And, uh, we were the MCs of the big Southeastern building conferences last week. So that was fun. Uh, Tell

[:

[00:02:23] Eric Goranson: is a big trade show for contractors, home builders and even designers, but mostly contractors and home builders.

[:

[00:02:55] Eric Goranson: And they have some really cool things that are going on down there. So I was, uh, very [00:03:00] impressed at what they were doing to hold houses together with high winds. Impressive. All

[:

[00:03:12] Caroline Blazovsky: You

[:

[00:03:35] Eric Goranson: So what's cool with that is that you can frame up the house. The framers can put the plywood or the USB on the outside. And it has that weather resistant barrier on the outside. So all you have to do is tape it and now it's waterproof. So it's cool. So it's,

[:

[00:04:00] Caroline Blazovsky: So it's a, it's the plywood. Can you make a choice between a plywood and OSB base or do you, is it just strictly a plywood with the zip

[:

[00:04:29] Eric Goranson: It's almost like putting Tyvac and bonding it to plywood, OSB mm-hmm right. So, so people know. Yeah. Yeah. To all I know all my friends at, uh, DuPont right now are shivering hearing me say that that way, but, uh, I'm sorry, I'm using the Kleenex of, uh, house wraps for the discussion. So, but they get it.

[:

[00:04:51] Caroline Blazovsky: Yeah. So it's an all in one that gives you now. It does. From my understanding, allow you to have what called vapor passage. Mm-hmm right. So you can get some vapor it's [00:05:00] not completely sealed, which would cause mold inside or outside the building, but you allows vapor, but no moisture gets in. So if you have a leak or something, if it's properly taped on your seams, you're gonna have this really secure and sort of dry

[:

[00:05:13] Eric Goranson: Yeah. Taped and rolled. So you tape it, you don't just, it's a pressure applied. So you have to put, you know, plus 30 pounds of pressure on it. So once you roll it out, Now you've got that there. And what's cool with that is let's say you got a hurricane comes in and it rips the, the, the roofing off, right?

[:

[00:05:52] Eric Goranson: Yeah. So

[:

[00:06:09] Caroline Blazovsky: Can't get in. Yep. Correct. It's done.

[:

[00:06:32] Eric Goranson: And then there's this other system that we had up on the stage with us called quick tie. And what they do is they run a cable. Attaches into the foundation. It goes all the way up through the stud bay, up to the top double studded seal plate on the very top. That top, that top point mm-hmm and it bolts down and it holds tension onto that wall assembly, like a giant bungee

[:

[00:06:57] Caroline Blazovsky: Yeah. Like a huge

[:

[00:07:17] Eric Goranson: And now when the winds come, if you attach everything together, you've got something that, that can hold up to a couple hundred miles an hour, which is absolutely fascinating to me.

[:

[00:07:31] Eric Goranson: They have their own code down there to prevent buildings being blown away.

[:

[00:07:56] Caroline Blazovsky: That's something I would like. So you can get like vapor underneath, like, [00:08:00] is it, is it allow airflow?

[:

[00:08:04] Eric Goranson: well basement. I wouldn't say airflow. What it does is it has a kind of a, a fiberglass back on the back of this tile. Right. That's smooth and kind of slippery. Yeah. So what you do is you can lay this down and they click together like a regular, like vinyl plank flooring.

[:

[00:08:33] Caroline Blazovsky: good. Yeah. And you don't one from smell standpoint, no VOCs, but two, you don't have to get this, go off your floor and wreck everything underneath when you apply.

[:

[00:08:49] Caroline Blazovsky: badass. Yeah. And I can say that because we're on the

[:

[00:08:57] Eric Goranson: Yep. Oh [00:09:00] guys. I was impressed and you know, the me too. And, and what's my first reaction to it. I asked the rep, I'm like, all right. You know, me being the skeptic. I'm like, what happens when I drop something on it? He goes, well, here's the cool thing. It's pretty easy to swap a tile out.

[:

[00:09:16] Caroline Blazovsky: And you're done. But you,

[:

[00:09:23] Caroline Blazovsky: know this I do know this. I know you do.

[:

[00:09:34] Caroline Blazovsky: rehearsed.

[:

[00:09:41] Eric Goranson: Yeah. Tile gets its strength from the bond to the substrate beneath. So, you know, a piece of tile by itself, you can break it pretty easy, break it. Yeah. But as soon as you bond it down to a floor, for instance, properly, it's hard to break it.

[:

[00:10:10] Caroline Blazovsky: the door. Yeah. How

[:

[00:10:18] Eric Goranson: There was, you know, some really cool stuff like that. And then of course, oh my God, I

[:

[00:10:32] Caroline Blazovsky: My basement's been like, you know, the tile. 10 years old, cuz it the expense to redo it would be astronomical. Yeah. It's crazy. However, with this, yeah. What's the

[:

[00:10:50] Eric Goranson: You don't have to buy all the Masick and all that stuff to put it down with. So, and you could DIY this. Oh yeah. I think it's great for commercial floors. You think about it cuz you can [00:11:00] go in right over the flooring surface it's there and float right over the top. If you were in a hotel lobby or something like that, and you needed to put a new tile floor down, you could do it quickly, cuz you're just laying it and grouting it and walk away.

[:

[00:11:26] Caroline Blazovsky: And how many, uh, different types of tile do they have? Like, do

[:

[00:11:31] Eric Goranson: And here's what I like about it. The one thing that I will say, and this is not a commercial doubt dial, I'm not even getting free outta this. I'm just saying there is no commercial this whatsoever. The one thing I thought was cool that I thought, okay, they planned this out is you have this floating floor system.

[:

[00:12:07] Eric Goranson: And

[:

[00:12:09] Eric Goranson: just a regular tile. Correct. Right. So you can match those two together, which is cool. Something new to do. Yep. Pretty cool. Well, I've got a crazy day today. I've got, uh, so right outside my garage door here, you know, we've got a flag lot that goes behind us.

[:

[00:12:46] Eric Goranson: So I'm getting free watering, which I have to thank 'em for. But you know, when you turn the, the hose on and it's coming out like a pencil thickness. Yeah. That's what they have coming outta the ground right now. And, uh, where is that coming from? Uh, [00:13:00] their main water line, their main water line going to the house right now.

[:

[00:13:23] Eric Goranson: So. Well, at least

[:

[00:13:29] Eric Goranson: Looks fresh. Oh. And then we went out, uh, uh, we went out to this last week too, to hot on hot onus nights out on the lake here. And that was crazy. We had a big floating party out in the middle of the lake where we, they had a huge dock and a band playing and a floating.

[:

[00:13:46] Caroline Blazovsky: all those people that live in these, you know what I call lake or ocean or bay regions, you put all the boats together and it becomes like a big boat family. And you jump from boat to boat. Yeah.

[:

[00:14:00] Eric Goranson: It was like the shape of a big H. If you take the crossbar of the H and extend it out past what would be the end of the H they put a dance floor on one end and on the other end, they had a barge for full of, uh, porta potties out there. So people could use the restroom , which is better than everybody just jumping into the lake and using the restroom.

[:

[00:14:35] Caroline Blazovsky: good. So, and other than by Eric's partying, I'm heading up to inspirational deck when we get off mm-hmm and I'm going to look at the bullfrog spa.

[:

[00:15:08] Caroline Blazovsky: They didn't come today. So hopefully,

[:

[00:15:28] Eric Goranson: So I'll get to see some other friends of mine that'll be flying in and, uh, get to go check out Delta Brizo, which will be a fun, little quick. Sounds good.

[:

[00:15:38] Eric Goranson: So I'll, I'll, I'll find out. I I'm gonna take a look at that. Frank Lloyd great collection. I wanna check that out. That's gonna be fun. And then, uh, I'll look for stuff for your new bathroom remodel, which is phase three, right?

[:

[00:15:53] Eric Goranson: you. Okay. So what are you looking? But it's fine. I'll look for you when I'm there. Caroline, what are you looking for in a kitchen faucet? [00:16:00] Oh,

[:

[00:16:07] Caroline Blazovsky: Right, right. So it's gotta get, you know, we're foody, so we're cooking and using it constantly. Mm-hmm so like beauty kind of goes on the side bar with me, but I definitely want something. That's

[:

[00:16:22] Eric Goranson: Yeah. All right.

[:

[00:16:28] Eric Goranson: brass inside. You want to have, Hmm, well it's brass or plastic, right? Yeah. You know? Yeah. I'd say brass over plastic in my book, you know, but a good durable finish, which, oh, you're talking parts.

[:

[00:16:41] Caroline Blazovsky: Talking parts inside you. Yeah. Yeah.

[:

[00:17:01] Caroline Blazovsky: Yes. All right. Yes, but definitely function. Yeah. I'm all about that in the kitchen. It's gotta work. Good. It's got a good sprayer. It's gotta have good velocity. I like a strong, I don't want this like trickling out. You know, I wanna be able to power wash my dishes. Mm-hmm . They should come up with like a power washer, like something that's like an extra, an extra ooph.

[:

[00:17:30] Eric Goranson: at the sand, you need one of those old school, dish, masters. Remember those that have the little, remember those. That's what I'm

[:

[00:17:35] Caroline Blazovsky: They should bring it

[:

[00:17:38] Caroline Blazovsky: that. I get, for some reason in my household, I get the junkiest plates. You could ever imagine. I don't know if it's just cuz we're into barbecue and cheese and all that, that kind of sticks to the plate.

[:

[00:17:51] Eric Goranson: I mean we can have, you know, and I've got some stuff that, you know, maybe it's got, you know, shoes from the steak or it's got cheese baked on [00:18:00] from the, you know, from anything else and man that dishwasher. Goes after it, I, I literally can put something in there going, am I gonna have to throw that away? I got that thing so abused and it comes out looking brand new.

[:

[00:18:26] Caroline Blazovsky: So. I just need a little power wash. There you go.

[:

[00:18:29] Caroline Blazovsky: on that for me. When you're out there, you can invent it,

[:

[00:18:36] Eric Goranson: but yeah, that, that, anyway, to wrap up that show, that was a lot of fun. Um, there was a lot of great people there met a lot of cool people. We got to, as you saw in the video with Walt that's up on our. Facebook page around the house show. We got to play with the Ford lightning a little bit, the electric truck.

[:

[00:18:56] Eric Goranson: was the front. He was up. Oh, that was the front. That was the front. Where was, yeah, that was

[:

[00:19:03] Eric Goranson: Where's Wal Walt. Where are ya? And, uh, he was sleeping over there.

[:

[00:19:07] Caroline Blazovsky: before we leave, my friends had to get a new car. They crashed. Right. So actually they didn't crash. Someone crashed into them and, uh, They informed me that they bought a hybrid Toyota. Okay. Um, RAV4. Cool. What do you think the price was? I'm gonna play guessing game with hybrid. Do

[:

[00:19:28] Eric Goranson: You could spend on a hybrid pretty quickly, $60,000 without even thinking, and you can spend $80,000 when you start throwing options at it. What do you think they.

[:

[00:19:46] Eric Goranson: spend to me $70,000 on a Hyundai hybrid. That's loaded and that's a Hyundai.

[:

[00:20:12] Caroline Blazovsky: Well, listen, this is what happened. They ended up paying, oh, I got you.

[:

[00:20:26] Eric Goranson: job drew. But. Oh

[:

[00:20:37] Eric Goranson: Titanic pretty amazing.

[:

[00:20:57] Eric Goranson: He needlessly died in that movie. [00:21:00]

[:

[00:21:09] Eric Goranson: dreaming this. I've heard that. Yeah. That's an interesting theory. I don't buy it. Someone told me that.

[:

[00:21:16] Caroline Blazovsky: I look at it and go, he somehow is like in concussion, state in coma and he's just dreaming the whole movie. It's not,

[:

[00:21:34] Eric Goranson: And I mean, you wouldn't be old in it you'd be like, right. it would be like, you're back in the eighties, you know, Valmer is like still a stone. Yeah. You know, I mean, come on. No, you're

[:

[00:21:50] Eric Goranson: Yeah. Right. I mean, if you're gonna be, if you're gonna out there be a badass, you're gonna be a badass.

[:

[00:22:05] Caroline Blazovsky: yeah, no, he's like terminally, uh, doesn't sound like a good

[:

[00:22:17] Eric Goranson: You know, the only thing I would say. The jump. The shark to me is when he like bailed out of the plane at mock 10 or something, which

[:

[00:22:27] Eric Goranson: that's the chance. Yeah. That's that's he really blew out. Teaches you. This is all in heaven. Yeah. You're not going. Whew. Just that off a little bit.

[:

[00:22:38] Caroline Blazovsky: been walking into a diner, looking for like a glass

[:

[00:22:57] Caroline Blazovsky: And then Cindy Crawford walks in

[:

[00:23:13] Caroline Blazovsky: Get those sinks in everyone and get those decks done.

[:

[00:23:18] Eric Goranson: we go. There we go. And then, uh, gonna give you just a little bit of a tease here. Uh, we will have handyman Bob on this weekend. Gotta wish him ablated birthday from, uh, I think it was yesterday, the day before, which was. Birthday happy birthday, handyman Bob, the happy birthday.

[:

[00:23:37] Caroline Blazovsky: around the house, up around the house. He is, yes, he is around the house. You got

[:

[00:23:52] Eric Goranson: And I'm Caroline B and you've been listening to around, around the house[00:24:00]
