The Shallows (2016)
Director: Jaume Collet-Serra (known for directing the horror films House of Wax (2005), Orphan (2009) Unknown (2011) )
Writer: Anthony Jaswinski
Music: Marco Beltrami
Stars: Blake Lively and Stephen “Sully” Seagull
Taglines: What was once in the deep is now in the shallows.
Not a Jaws rip off brought up to date with a CGI shark replacing the beloved rubber version from 1975. This is a completely different kind of shark movie. Exciting, tense and edge of seat scary with some incredible cinematography and landscapes.
We examine the marketing campaign from the tense trailers, gorgeous colourful posters and clever TV spots. We also look at the tongue in cheek social media campaign which also introduced us to one of the stars of the film. Stephen “Sully” Seagull. Unlike the shark, sully wasn’t CGI. He was real and put in a fine performance.
