A lot of us feel some heaviness after the finding of the unmarked grave of 215 children at a residential school and being an indigenous person right now is hard. In this episode, Ḵálḵalilh-Deanna Lewis, a very proud and powerful indigenous woman, talks about life after residential school, her history, her culture, and it’s going to help you to know what your next steps should be.
Ḵálḵalilh-Deanna Lewis is an Elected Councillor for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw. Deanna was a Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Teacher for 10 years prior to being on Council. One of her favourite jobs is being a Trip Leader Sea Kayak Guide and Cultural Heritage Guide for the past 20 years for Talaysay Tours. She loves to learn, share, teach, and preserve her Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Teachings. Deanna was born and raised in Squamish BC and is passionate about health and wellness.
