Whether it's things in your own life, maybe your creative business or in the world, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by everything that is going on. And I know that I have felt that especially lately with so many things happening in the world. So I want to talk to you today about how we as creatives can find purpose and keep going in the midst of the chaos.

So maybe you're feeling this right now, in which case I hope this is the thing that you need to hear. And if you're not. It will give you some things to think about and work on for if you ever do get to this point you feel overwhelmed by all of the things.

So as I said, I have been feeling this.

So I will be honest with you. There have been a couple of moments recently where I have been thinking about all of the things going on in the world and even in my own life and like as creatives in our industry and just feeling like. Is there a point? Should I keep doing this? Like, does it matter when there are so many horrible, awful things happening?

But, there are a few things that have really helped me to remind myself, actually, this does matter, it's important, and to help me to keep going and moving forward. So, we are all just trying to keep up and keep going. So where does your art fit in? Is there any point with everything going on and how do you keep going when things are so overwhelming?

These are the questions I've been asking and that I'm hoping I can answer and help all of us with today. So there are three things I think that we need to know to help us move forward and to find direction and clarity amidst all of the chaos.

The Importance of Your Creative Work

The first and most important one is that your work is important.

I think sometimes as creatives we can feel like our work is kind of trivial, maybe it's just nice to look at or fun to buy or something that we like creating, but it is so much more than that. Your work has really such a powerful impact on you, on your audience, your customers, and on your wider community.

It impacts you by bringing you creativity. Maybe it brings you comfort to create what you create, whatever it means to you, that's important. That makes a huge difference for you to be able to create, to do what you're meant to be doing, to do what you love, that is important. And we all need that. Some element of that, right?

So creating is important in the way that it is important to you and the way that it impacts you and your own life. It also impacts your audience and your customers in so many different ways. Maybe your work brings your audience joy when they see it. Scrolling through their feed. Maybe you bring them some entertainment that they really desperately need.

Maybe when someone buys your work, you bring this element of color and creativity to their lives and to their home that really makes them feel good and helps them to grow. Keep going throughout whatever the chaos of their own life is. So that's only a few examples, but your work really does impact your audience and your customers whether it's When they are just seeing your work online or in person or whether they have bought and purchased and worked with you these things are important and they impact those people It also impacts your wider community.

Maybe your work helps to start conversations, maybe it helps people feel seen, maybe it brings people together, maybe it helps people feel not alone. Like, whatever it is that you do will have an impact on the wider community. It's something that I love about creativity is that the art we put out into the world really does Make a difference when it comes to our communities, the people around us, and like even wider on the world, because we can start conversations about community, climate change, sustainability, like so many different things that art starts conversations around is so important and so many things that help people feel seen and it.

Involved and not alone and brings those people together. Like art does all of that and it is so powerful. So your work, whether you like are intentionally being like, I want to change the world, I want to change my community, your work does that anyway. So it's really important. So all of these are things, all of the things I've mentioned, like.

You having your creativity, your comfort, your audience having joy and color and entertainment, your community having conversations and belonging, all of these things are things that we need now more than ever. So your work Is important.

Discovering Your Vision and Why

The second thing that we need to know is what our vision or our why is, because this really helps us to keep going and to realize like, this is why I'm doing what I'm doing and why it matters and why I need to keep going or why I can keep going because of this thing.

So your vision is the kind of the future state that you want to see for yourself, your audience, your industry, your community. And, or the world, so those people I just mentioned before. It really is the impact that you want to have on those people through your work. I call these, in the collective, in my program, I call these the magic keys of impact.

Your work might have the key to impacting you. Which is me, the M in magic, and my, you might have the key to impacting your audience, A. Your guild, which is your industry, which is the G. You might impact and have an influence on your community, that's I. And then you might also impact and drive change on the world.

So that's where we get the M A G I C, the magic keys of impact. So these are the ways that your work. Impacts the people around you when you know the impact that you want to have and you know your vision as I said It really helps you to keep going when things are hard or you're not sure What to do next or how to keep going or even if you should keep going So as an example my vision you might have heard this if you listen to the podcast or listen to me talking any kind of context my vision is to make the world more creative place one brand at a time Because I believe so strongly and you'll get this from this episode probably In the power of creativity and that it's what the world needs to be So I am so passionate about, and I love so much how creativity impacts the world and how much it brings to individuals, communities, and the whole world.

So. The more I can help you with your brand, the more creativity we get in the world. And that is great for everyone, right? We get all those things I mentioned before, comfort, creativity, belonging, joy, color, conversations, like all of those things happen when there's more creativity in the world. And I can help there be more creativity in the world by helping you build and grow your brands and feel confident and show up and build your audience and all of this good stuff.

So even this week when I felt like there was no point and with everything going on in the world, I'm just over here yapping about branding. I remembered my vision, why I'm doing what I'm doing and that it actually matters a lot. So it helped me to be like, no, okay, I had a moment. That's fine. It's normal.

It's natural. There is a lot going on. But if I remember the fact that what I'm doing helps. Artists, creatives, makers, and that means more creativity in the world. And that means all those incredible things that I believe in so strongly. Then I, it like, I know I have to keep going and I want to keep going and I want to show up and I want to help even in.

Small ways and big ways, however I can do it, I want to keep going. So, think about and figure out your vision and what your impact is, so that when things do feel chaotic, overwhelming or confusing, you can remind yourself why you're doing what you're doing. And find that sense of clarity and calm and direction through that.

If you do need help with this process, the whole first module inside the Brain Deal Passion Collective is all about uncovering and clarifying what your purpose is. That includes figuring out what those magic keys of impact are for you. And writing your vision and your mission so that you have a really clear sense of direction.

And Community of supportive creatives who will help you as well to figure out what that direction is and what your purpose, your vision, your mission are, and turn those into an impactful, amazing brand. So if you want to do that, if you want to help with that, come and join us. The link is in the show notes, but it's just brandyourpassion.

co and you can come and hang out with us in the community and figure out what your purpose is so that when you do feel overwhelmed, Not only will you figure out what your vision and your mission is, but you will also have a community of creatives who can help you in those situations. So yeah, definitely come and join us and figure that out.

And there's also obviously many more branding things in there as well. But that first module will be really helpful.

Taking the Next Small Step

The third thing that we need to know is just what your next small step is going to be. We do not have to solve everything all at once or really change the world through our next piece of artwork.

All we have to do is take one small step forward at a time. So I know that when the world, our creative businesses, our lives feel overwhelming, sometimes we can feel like, Oh my God, I have to figure everything out and I have to fix everything. And I want to like change the world. And it feels, that feels more overwhelming.

But if we remember that all we have to do. Is figure out what is the next step? What's the next small thing I can do to move forward. That helps a lot. I know it helps me anyway. So this could be just choosing like what social media platform am I going to focus on amidst all of the current changes that are happening right now?

My next step is to just make that decision so I can move forward with my content. Maybe it's planning your next artwork so that you can put more of your amazing creativity into the world. Or it might be writing down your vision and mission so that you have that direction for your business and your life that will give you the clarity that you need.

So it could be anything like that. It could be business related, life related, anything that will just help you figure out like what am I going to do next? What is the one thing I can do next to move this forward, to move myself forward, to move my business forward? What is that one step? Don't need to stress about, like, what it all means and what all the answers are and how to fix everything.

Just think about your vision, your direction, and decide what your one next small step will be. So I think those are three hopefully helpful things that will support you when things do feel overwhelming. It's just that reminder that your work is important, figuring out what your vision and your why is so that that will help you in any situations like this to keep going, and to figure out what is my next small step.

What am I just going to do next that doesn't have to solve everything, but it's just going to move me and my life and my business forward.

Contributing Through Your Work

Obviously, if you want to and things are feeling like overwhelming in terms of like the world and issues going on and all of those sorts of things, you can obviously actively help through your work too and that might help you to feel a little bit more in control, a little bit more like you're contributing and a little bit more like a tangible, physical way to help.

So. That can be like donating proceeds from your work. You could donate services or products. You can do campaigns to raise money. You can volunteer. You can even just share resources or information. All of these things can be really helpful and can obviously make us feel a little bit better and a little bit like we're contributing as well as.

I just wanted to mention that at the end, obviously, if you are feeling like, okay, this is all good and this is like nice and feels really good, but what can I actually do that's going to make me feel better and like I'm actively making a difference. You can use your work to do that through these things as well.

So, I hope that this episode has been helpful, just a short one for today to kind of, you know, I was feeling a certain type of way and I was like, I'm sure I'm not the only person feeling this way right now. Feeling like, overwhelmed and like, does this even matter? Because the world is like, Just chaos right now and so many things are happening and changing all the time that it can just feel so chaotic in your brain So I'm hoping that these things that have helped me will also help you and again Just a reminder that if you want to feel like you have a community by your side when you do feel like this When you have questions or you're not sure what to do next or you want to figure out what your vision is Please come and join us in the brand, your passion collective.

We would love to have you we can, we can, and we'll work on your brand and how to build that and grow that so that you can have the impact that you want to have. And yeah, just meet and collaborate and chat with some incredible creatives. Check out the link in the show notes, head to brand, your passion.
