The Storm Prediction center warns of large to giant hail, damaging wind and strong tornadoes from the southern Plains into the southern Great Lakes, with repeated rounds of severe thunderstorms expected to redevelop each afternoon and evening.

The outbreak follows a Monday evening round that produced at least 14 preliminary tornado reports across Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin, including an EF2 that cut a seven mile path through Ottawa, Kansas and left tens of thousands without power in southern Wisconsin.

The National Interagency Fire center is at National Preparedness Level 2.

The morning incident Management Situation Report lists light initial attack activity, 11 new large incidents and 22 uncontained large fires.

Nationally, the highest profile incident is the Newman Drive fire in Collier County, Florida, which has grown to roughly 1,733 acres with 60% containment and continuing evacuations near Naples.

On the seismic side, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck southeastern Lyon County, Nevada about 12 miles southeast of Silver Springs on Monday evening, with more than 100 aftershocks by Tuesday.

The U.S. geological Survey reports light to moderate damage near Fallon and no confirmed impacts to hospitals, schools, transportation or utilities at Kilauea.

More than 125 aftershocks had been recorded by Tuesday.

The U.S. geological Survey observed light to moderate damage around the epicenter and near Fallon, including shattered glass and scattered store product, and reports no major impacts to critical infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, transportation or utilities.

Damage includes a partial roof failure at St. Joseph Catholic Church in east Bristol and multiple snap power poles near Waterloo and the town of Portland.

In Clintonville, nearly 4 inches of overnight rain produced serious flooding, with officials preparing evacuations and a flash flood warning issued for a potential dam failure on the Little river below Big Falls Dam in Waupaka County.

A second round of severe storms was expected Tuesday evening.
