A New Tanya class By Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz “The way to connect to Hashem on the deepest levels & the method of clearing any obstacles blocking the connection” Tanya Igeret Hakodesh Chapter 4 The Alter Rebbe quotes from the prophet ישעי׳ the verse that says ושביה בצדקה that צדקה has the power to redeem us. The Alter Rebbe quotes from Tehilim צדק לפניו יהלך the יהלך means that the צדקה is causing something else to go. What is that something else? The Alter Rebbe introduces the verse in psalms לך אמר לבי בקשו פני that we should search for our פנימיות הלב that is concealed. There is חיצוניות הלב as well as פנימיות הלב: The חיצוניות הלב which is a love of Fire for Hashem is born from בינה & דעת Meditation of the greatness & infinite power of Hashem & you feel that love. The פנימיות הלב is the dot in the depths of your heart that you can not achieve thru meditation (for example when something is so important to you you will say & do things that are beyond logic) its source is חכמה עליונה that in there is hidden אור ה״ ממש we all have that spark of Hashem with in us. Since we all have this spark of ה״ why don’t we all serve Hashem from the depths of our hearts? As the spark is in Exile & captivity which is called גלות השכינה ממש. The reason why the spark of ה׳ is in exile. The Alter Rebbe quotes the Talmud that says גלו לבבל שכינה עמהם when we act like בבל that means we use our פנימיות הלב for worldly pleasures than the שכינה is with us but in exile it’s like being uncircumcised. The way to reveal the פנימיות הלב is based on the verse ומלתם את ערלת לבבכם which means doing תשובה. There are course pleasures as well as finer pleasures that we engage the world that causes us a disconnect from Hashem hence you need both מילה & פריעה the מילה we are required to do by ourselves thru proper תשובה However to take away the finer worldly pleasures that Hashem will do as the verse says ומל ה׳ אלהיך את לבבך כו׳ so that we can love Hashem as Hashem alone is our life literally this is love from the depths of your heart. This is the definition of that משיח will come בהיסח הדעת higher than דעת which is חכמה & allow us to experience the עומקא דליבא connection. We do have an opportunity to experience this deep heart to heart connection with Hashem every day during prayers when we meditate that למען חייך that our life is Hashem that will create a personal redemption for us. In order to receive Hashem’s gift of פריעה that will allow the deep relationship to flourish again there has to be a אתערותא דלתתא that evokes the אתערותא דלעילא so we need to first take off the course blockage that’s not allowing the deep heart to heart connection. The way to remove the blockage is by giving charity as money is our life as we can buy life sustaining items as well as when we work we put our hearts & souls in to work to earn the money so now when you give charity with joy & gladness of heart you bring out the depths of your heart that was in exile in worldly pursuits as the word פריעה is like פריעת חוב that you return your debt ie the soul from captivity to Hashem that’s the connection to the verse ושביה בצדקה thru charity we redeem the שכינה that’s in Galus.
