Zach Boyd:

Hey, Riverside works.

Zach Boyd:

Zach Boyd:

Zach Boyd:

We're at episode 163 now, I believe.

Barack Gruber:

Congratulations.

Zach King:

Yeah, y'all are coming up on our numbers.

Zach King:

Barrett, we have to do more.

Barack Gruber:

We published almost 70 episodes this season.

Barack Gruber:

It's like this was one of our most robust seasons.

Zach King:

Wait.

Barack Gruber:

Wait till season eight.

Barack Gruber:

Season eight starts in January.

Barack Gruber:

We're gonna crush it.

Barack Gruber:

There's gonna be.

Barack Gruber:

There's gonna be two or three episodes a week, Zach.

Zach King:

Well, so let me.

Zach King:

Let me.

Zach King:

Let me.

Zach King:

Let me ask, Zach, who is the team in.

Zach King:

Chat chime in.

Zach King:

Who.

Zach King:

What team got the.

Zach King:

Got screwed the hardest in last night's College Football playoff poll?

Zach Boyd:

It's the only team that has won so many games so far straight in a row.

Zach Boyd:

It's the one that's won the most, and it's University of South Carolina.

Zach Boyd:

And look, I.

Zach Boyd:

You can take the Garnet glasses off, per se.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

You can take the Garnet glasses off.

Zach Boyd:

And it's a team that has won six straight in a row, and that's against four top 25 opponents at the time.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, look, the resume speaks for itself.

Zach Boyd:

And not only are you winning six games in a row, two of them were on the road at Vanderbilt, which, by the way, they were ranked at the time.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, Clemson on the road.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

And then at home, you broke the streak against Missouri, which is absolutely massive.

Zach Boyd:

You beat Texas A and M again at home.

Zach Boyd:

In or out.

Zach Boyd:

Exactly.

Zach Boyd:

You routed them.

Zach Boyd:

The thing about Matt, the thing that comes to my mind, and look, people can have their opinions, say what they want.

Zach Boyd:

That's fine, whatever.

Zach Boyd:

Right?

Zach Boyd:

But at the end of the day, the brand matters.

Zach Boyd:

And quite frankly, if it's the University of South Carolina versus the University of Alabama in football, it's going to be Alabama every time.

Zach King:

Yeah, it is.

Zach King:

And the.

Zach King:

The fact that the committee is not holding to things that they previously have either said or done.

Zach King:

Florida State did not get in last year because their quarterback was Hurt.

Zach King:

They went undefeated.

Zach King:

I think outside of how screwed South Carolina is getting right now, Florida State's the only one who's got it truly worse.

Zach King:

How do you go on the road and beat Clemson number 12, who's now going to go play for the ACC and move one spot, that is, that's mind boggling.

Zach King:

And then for him to come out and say the teams that aren't playing aren't going to move anywhere.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

No watching, watching Ward Manual talk about, you know, trying to come up with an answer when Reese Davis asking him about this, you know, about this.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, it remind me of, you know, your general politicians, like they just keep beating around the bush.

Zach Boyd:

They don't have the true answer.

Zach Boyd:

And by the way, I mean, that's what happened here where Emanuel just kept like, you know, just kept going, oh, well, you know, so and so about Alabama and somebody.

Zach Boyd:

Here's the thing, all right.

Zach Boyd:

We all know it's cut and dry.

Zach Boyd:

We like Alabama more because it's going to get, get us more viewers.

Zach Boyd:

Fine, just say it.

Zach Boyd:

Don't come up with this bull crap and not truly answer the question.

Zach King:

Exactly.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, that's what it was.

Zach Boyd:

That's what it truly was.

Zach Boyd:

It was like a politician sitting there, right there giving these bullish answers, not.

Zach King:

Answering the question and not to.

Zach King:

Not to.

Zach King:

You know, Ward Manuel is a Michigan guy.

Zach Boyd:

He is.

Zach King:

So I'm sure he's no more happy with South Carolina than an Ohio State alum on the board.

Zach King:

Could be for 1 2.

Zach King:

How many teams are ahead of South Carolina that have 0 to no top 25 wins ranked opponent wins quite a few.

Zach King:

So it's not even just South Carolina going like, well, oh, we should.

Zach King:

Yeah, we lost ahead to head to Alabama and Ole Miss.

Zach King:

Head to head has to count.

Zach King:

Absolutely.

Zach King:

Head has.

Zach King:

Head to head.

Zach King:

Has to count losses.

Zach King:

Have to count to.

Zach King:

Dirtbag losses have to count too.

Zach King:

They don't want.

Zach King:

For all I'm seeing, you got your Indiana's and your Boise states.

Zach King:

God love you.

Zach King:

Your running back is a killer.

Zach King:

But you're not doing it against the same people that all these other teams are doing it against.

Zach King:

Your Rocket Sanders put him as the running back for Boise State.

Zach King:

Who's to say he doesn't have those numbers if not better?

Zach Boyd:

Fair enough.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

I mean, it's just so rigged.

Zach King:

It's.

Zach King:

It's a, it's a who's who.

Zach King:

And then for Clemson to have their three losses and say they upset SMU to get in, you're going, dude, I can't Believe that.

Zach King:

Yeah, because they'll look back at us and be like, yeah, you beat us, but look at us, we're in the playoffs.

Zach Boyd:

Like, well, you know, and take it back a few weeks ago, right, when, when the playoff rankings initially came out and South Carolina was ahead of lsu and they talked about in this particular episode, I mean, this particular episode while in this particular ranking, that the reason why LSU was behind South Carolina and they took ahead to head.

Zach Boyd:

They understood that.

Zach Boyd:

They took that in mind.

Zach Boyd:

But they also said, well, where LSU's trajectory is going, I mean, what are we doing?

Zach Boyd:

Alabama just got blown out by Oklahoma at Oklahoma two weeks ago.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

Like, what are we not counting that all of a sudden?

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

Ole Miss, it just lost to Florida and unranked Florida.

Zach Boyd:

Hey, granted, Florida's not a bad team.

Zach Boyd:

You know, they actually turned out to be a very surprising team this year.

Zach Boyd:

But you still lost, you know, you still lost to a unranked Kentucky at home.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

There's a lot of these losses that Kentucky, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Alabama had that South Carolina, quite frankly, didn't have.

Zach Boyd:

And I get the head ahead.

Zach Boyd:

I get it.

Zach Boyd:

But why would you say, hey, let's put Alabama in instead of South Carolina and Lenora Sellers, which are the hottest teams right now.

Zach Boyd:

And by the way, I mean, Lenora Sellers is catching the eyes of everybody right now.

Zach Boyd:

Everybody.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, that's a fact.

Zach King:

He's a, He's a complete phenom.

Zach King:

He is.

Zach King:

I argued with Brandon Walker.

Zach King:

He, he, he.

Zach King:

I said, who is head and shoulders above South Carolina?

Zach King:

He, he didn't even name those teams.

Zach King:

And I said, who is so much head and shoulders better than Lenora Sellers?

Zach King:

Who else would you want?

Zach King:

And he, see, he said, quinn, yours.

Zach King:

Quinn, yours was out two and a half games.

Zach King:

Lenora Sellers is out a game and a half.

Zach King:

Their stats are damn near identical.

Zach King:

Damn near.

Zach King:

But who would you put in.

Zach King:

In a clutch situation to go win you the game?

Zach King:

And that's objectively, it's Lenora Sellers.

Zach King:

If Lenore Sellers, that wasn't the quarterback when we played Clemson, we wouldn't have won that game.

Zach Boyd:

Correct?

Barack Gruber:

Agreed.

Zach Boyd:

Absolutely.

Zach King:

So you and I's one of the.

Zach King:

One of the.

Zach King:

Again, another point of contention.

Zach King:

I had with them one of the best players in the country right now.

Zach King:

One of the most exciting players you should put on television right now is Lenora Sellers.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

And it's not just us blowing hot air.

Zach King:

Josh Pate is here with us on three.

Zach King:

Is here with us like it is.

Zach King:

It's not just that, like, everyone is Saying it seems like the national media said South Carolina should be in the playoff.

Zach King:

We would all love to see that in the playoff committee.

Zach King:

Just blew their nose and let it go like that.

Zach King:

Is it?

Zach Boyd:

Sure.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, you even got guys like Skip Bayless out there that have absolutely nothing to do with the University of South Carolina talking about it.

Zach Boyd:

You know, it's.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, it's.

Zach Boyd:

It's gotten to this point.

Zach Boyd:

Like, you know, as you guys talked about, you know, with my brand, I'm on Tick Tock and all these different platforms.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

In Tick Tock I see these, you know, different creators and whatnot that speak taught college football in their level.

Zach Boyd:

And they talk about South Carolina getting host and not being able to go to the playoffs.

Zach Boyd:

It's just, it's not just us.

Zach Boyd:

And you know, Zach, you brought up a great point about Lenora Sellers.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, who would you take?

Zach Boyd:

Lenora, Serena, Lenora Sellers just these last couple weeks have two game winning drives.

Zach King:

Yep.

Zach Boyd:

With Missouri inside and Clemson.

Zach King:

Yep.

Zach King:

I mean, and it's in the things he's done.

Zach King:

Dabo Sweeney even said it.

Zach King:

He goes, you look back at the tape.

Zach King:

He's not just doing that to us.

Zach King:

You expected him to do it.

Zach King:

And then when he does it, it's like a different animal.

Zach King:

It's.

Zach King:

He's doing it to you, your guys and he, he gets out of those things, runs 30 yards down the field if not getting a touchdown, if not more.

Zach King:

The one he ran against LSU took it what, 50 yards plus down on the field on them.

Zach King:

And not to mention the playoff committee not taking into accountability.

Zach King:

That one we got hosed.

Zach King:

SEC officiating hosed us on that LSU game.

Zach King:

There's no if, ands, buts about it.

Zach King:

It's objectively true.

Zach Boyd:

Oh yeah.

Zach King:

Our boy from Irmo Iman worry took it to the house.

Zach King:

Should not have had that.

Zach King:

It's just the most ridiculous things came in the way that they would have given Alabama credit for Oregon credit for Ohio State, Michigan, you name them, the blue bloods, they would have been like, yeah, let's take that into it because we have to squeak them in South Carolina.

Zach King:

They're like, nope, we're just going to look at head to head and be done with it.

Zach King:

That's all they did.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

And when they did that, it just felt to that point where we were truly never considered.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

When South Carolina, when they first entered the ranking, it was there.

Zach Boyd:

And like, all right, people are talking about it, but you beat a ranked opponent in their own house.

Zach Boyd:

I don't Care how you cut it.

Zach Boyd:

But when they're eight, literally just out the top 10 and you jump one spot.

Zach Boyd:

I'm sorry, but we're not going over the body of work here.

Zach Boyd:

We're going over a brand.

Zach Boyd:

I don't, I don't care what anybody's got to say.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, you just, you can't make an argument about it or you just go back to head to head.

Zach Boyd:

But then again, you just saw South Carolina, but Oklahoma get blown out by, you know, they blew out Alabama.

Zach Boyd:

Like, what are we doing?

Zach Boyd:

Like, there's.

Zach Boyd:

Look, when you talk about college basketball.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

College basketball, you can't have certain losses.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

Or you're out.

Barack Gruber:

Right.

Zach King:

Your quad, you have quad four.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Quad one squad twos that keeps you in.

Zach Boyd:

Quad three, squad fours takes you out.

Zach Boyd:

What?

Zach Boyd:

I lost Oklahoma.

Zach Boyd:

If we're talking like a college basketball world that did a Quad 4 loss and somehow you're still considered to get into the postseason.

Zach Boyd:

I'm sorry, I'm just, I'm not buying it.

Zach Boyd:

I'm.

Zach Boyd:

I'm not with it.

Zach Boyd:

I'm sorry, I'm just not.

Zach King:

Yeah.

Zach King:

It's just going to show you that they don't have that impactful loss into anything of their consideration.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

And two, I think.

Zach King:

And tell me if you agree with this.

Zach King:

12's not enough at the end of the day.

Zach Boyd:

Absolutely not.

Zach King:

No, it's not enough.

Zach Boyd:

No, no.

Zach Boyd:

, probably by, probably by:

Zach Boyd:

We'll see what happens.

Zach Boyd:

But a lot of things have to happen this off season after this is all done, after college football's over with, for one.

Zach Boyd:

You got to take a look at the committee because it's not just South Carolina that is upset at the committee right now.

Zach Boyd:

There's a couple.

Zach King:

Miami.

Zach King:

Miami's one of them in particular.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

And Ole Miss.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, there's a lot of guys that are upset, quite frankly, at the committee.

Zach Boyd:

And then there's some other names out there too, that are sitting outside the top 15 that may have a case in some kind of way.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

And then also one of the biggest questions that needs to be answered is that we need to, we need to find a way to stop making these officials part time.

Zach Boyd:

It needs to be a full time gig.

Zach Boyd:

These people cannot be having.

Zach Boyd:

Like for example, Jason Autry is a director down in Florida for some kind of service down there in Florida.

Zach Boyd:

He is a director.

Zach Boyd:

He has a 9 to 5, Monday through Friday.

Zach Boyd:

He is a director for a County.

Zach King:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

Why?

Zach Boyd:

Why.

Zach Boyd:

Why is he the head official for SEC football?

Zach Boyd:

He shouldn't be.

Zach Boyd:

He shouldn't be there.

Zach Boyd:

If he wants to do this, he goes to G5 or you go to a smaller conference.

Zach Boyd:

But the SEC, where millions of dollars are laid out on the line, by the way, and we got some guy that has a 9 to 5 director job, and he just does this for fun, makes a little extra on the side.

Zach Boyd:

That's what this is.

Zach Boyd:

Then he doesn't need to be doing it.

Zach King:

Yeah, it's not rec ball.

Zach King:

It's not high school anymore.

Zach King:

This is.

Zach King:

You're.

Zach King:

You're literally costing universities that you screw with bad calls millions of dollars, essentially.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

That's what you're doing.

Zach King:

And, yeah, you got to have a dedicated source of judgment, let's call it laying down, to call these games.

Zach King:

And you're getting dudes who are just.

Zach King:

Like you said, it's there.

Zach King:

This is my fun time.

Zach King:

I'm a weekend warrior.

Zach King:

I come out and do this stuff.

Zach King:

The one team that I think they're.

Zach King:

They would never have been a conversation.

Zach King:

Maybe if you expanded it that I find interesting coming up for next year is Georgia Tech.

Zach King:

I think that'll be very fun.

Zach King:

I feel.

Zach King:

I felt so bad for Haynes King after.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

Six hours of football.

Zach King:

Yeah.

Zach King:

But that's a team.

Zach King:

Like, watching them beat Miami.

Zach King:

That game was amazing.

Barack Gruber:

It was amazing.

Zach King:

Amazing.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

Look at all these outlier teams.

Zach King:

Like, I.

Zach King:

I think that's why you need more playoffs.

Zach King:

If you.

Zach King:

Even 12 is just not enough.

Zach King:

And I think the gripes we're having about it is they're so different than even four, because four was just.

Zach King:

We have a playoff.

Zach King:

To say we have it right.

Zach King:

12 is making legitimate arguments about ridiculousness about these dudes sitting in a room.

Zach King:

If you expand it to 16 and you get those usurpers just in there to wreck your number threes, your number fours, and just blow them out, it'll be amazing.

Barack Gruber:

Well, then you literally.

Barack Gruber:

You literally have no excuse.

Barack Gruber:

There's no way.

Barack Gruber:

There's no way.

Barack Gruber:

You don't get a legitimate pool of contestants.

Barack Gruber:

You know, you don't have a legitimate pool of teams to allow them just to beat it out just right, you know?

Barack Gruber:

So, yeah, Georgia.

Barack Gruber:

That Georgia, Georgia Tech game, I lasted until the second overtime.

Barack Gruber:

The third overtime was just about starting before I finally succumbed to my toxins and fell asleep.

Barack Gruber:

And it was amazing.

Barack Gruber:

I've got plenty of fans or friends that went to Georgia and they rubbed it in Sunday morning or Friday, Saturday morning.

Barack Gruber:

It was a Lot of text messages.

Barack Gruber:

Hey, did you see that game?

Barack Gruber:

See the way it ended?

Barack Gruber:

It's like, yeah, in a safety.

Barack Gruber:

So congratulations, Georgia won on a safety.

Barack Gruber:

But it was a, it was just a beat down game.

Barack Gruber:

And I, and I said, I told him, I said, look, I said, I'll give kudos to Georgia because, you know, if, if you give Georgia enough time to wear you down, that's what happens.

Barack Gruber:

I mean, they basically back Tech into the, into the corner and they won on a safety and Georgia Tech just didn't have the energy to come back.

Barack Gruber:

It was, it was, it was a fantastic game and, and I'm disappointed for the loss, but Georgia Tech loses to Georgia almost every single season.

Zach King:

So, you know, I fully enjoyed, I fully enjoyed Georgia getting such a difficult schedule and then getting the surprises like Georgia Tech, like, oh, like it's like you deserve it because there's so many times that we were playing Alabama and LSU and they're just like, yes, basically we got Mississippi State and a really down Auburn going for us.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I don't know.

Zach King:

I'm still, I'm still deciding myself about not playing Tennessee and Florida because those would have been, I think, two dubs we could have picked up maybe.

Zach King:

Yeah, A little sour.

Zach King:

Even Georgia, I think if we got caught Georgia on the full, like Sellers found his stride, I think Georgia would have been in trouble.

Zach King:

Yeah, I mean, hell, Alabama beat him and we saw what we almost did, tripping over our own tails, basically.

Zach King:

So.

Barack Gruber:

So, Zach, for our audience, one of the, definitely one of the reasons we want to have you on was because, you know, obviously playoff season for football, we're into basketball season, soccer and you know, softball is going to be kicking in and you are, you are so ingrained into everything that goes on with South Carolina sports.

Barack Gruber:

But I, you know, I don't want to overlook what Famously Garnet is and what it represents.

Zach Boyd:

Sure.

Barack Gruber:

Can you give us just what is it that inspired you to start Famously Garnet?

Barack Gruber:

What was it about South Carolina sports that was like, I want to, I'm going to try and build this brand?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

So it was back in:

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

It was, it was something that was okay.

Zach Boyd:

But a lot of people, they just were kind of turned off by the fact the matter is visor.

Zach Boyd:

They think of Spurrier and a lot of people are still upset about Spurrier, honestly.

Zach Boyd:

And so it wasn't really me that had the ownership of the brand.

Zach Boyd:

It was somebody else that had it.

Zach Boyd:

And there's a lot of things that we did.

Zach Boyd:

We broke a lot of big news.

Zach Boyd:

We broke the Zach Pickens news when Zach Pickens was a five star defensive end that committed to South Carolina, should be defensive line that committed to South Carolina.

Zach Boyd:

We broke that at his high school, T.L.

Zach Boyd:

hanna.

Zach Boyd:

There's things that we did with that.

Zach Boyd:

We broke news about Jordan Birch committing to South Carolina as well.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, there's other things that we've done, coaches leave and that kind of thing.

Zach Boyd:

And it just got to a point where I didn't see that traction was there.

Zach Boyd:

And I'm like, I'm just, it's not where it should be, you know?

Zach Boyd:

And then again, Zach, I didn't have the full control over this thing, right?

Zach Boyd:

And so I took a moment, I stepped back, I said, is this really where I wanted to, you know, for it to go when I don't have this kind of control on it?

Zach Boyd:

So I let, I let go of it and I'm like, I'm gonna start my own thing.

Zach Boyd:

And lo and behold, I mean, for me, I've, I, I've done a lot of social networking over the years, and in that time, I've made a lot of relationships and met a lot of people out of it.

Zach Boyd:

And one thing just leads to another.

Zach Boyd:

And here's what it comes down to.

Zach Boyd:

Why famously garnered.

Zach Boyd:

Why the success I've had.

Zach Boyd:

And it's got nothing special to do with me.

Zach Boyd:

It's just the fact of the matter is if you give people the God honest truth about what's going on with and you're not going after clickbait, you're not causing problems or anything like that.

Zach Boyd:

And you are a friend of the university per se.

Zach Boyd:

Like coaches, they know who I am.

Zach Boyd:

Like, they'll, they'll, there's coaches that, they'll text me if there's things that they need with a recruit, they'll text me, hey, get this hyped up or, you know, thing of that nature.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, it's, it's been a, it's been a little, you know, a long ride already in the last few years.

Zach Boyd:

But the fact of the matter is there are other entities out there that cover South Carolina that just have never gotten off the same kind of success because they look for more clickbait and engagements and things like that and just lie and lie for no reason.

Zach Boyd:

And, you know, in Zach over there, he knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Zach Boyd:

We've had some, we've had some shadows, quite frankly, that I Would call the shadow that covered South Carolina that people did not like.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

And, you know.

Zach King:

Great asshole.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

And, you know, now that that's not here anymore, it's open to my.

Zach Boyd:

My growth as well.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, a lot more people are tuned in since.

Zach Boyd:

I think Nil helps with that as well.

Zach Boyd:

Being able to get with the players and get to interview them.

Zach Boyd:

Because before with NCAA involved, you couldn't really interview anybody unless you were full media with University of South Carolina.

Zach Boyd:

And so that has also opened it up.

Zach Boyd:

But the biggest thing, man, is just, it's networking and being, you know, yourself.

Zach Boyd:

Like, don't come out there and, you know, any of the nonsense because I, like I said, I mean, people have done it and they failed and they failed miserably.

Zach Boyd:

So, I mean, that's.

Zach Boyd:

That's what's got a lot to do with it.

Zach Boyd:

But it's just my love and love and passion for South Carolina.

Zach Boyd:

I want us to be successful in every aspect.

Zach Boyd:

I do a lot of stuff with nil.

Zach Boyd:

I do a lot of things in the background that a lot of people don't know about.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, there's things that go behind the scenes that, quite frankly, nobody knows about.

Zach Boyd:

It's just me helping the athletes or helping do something.

Barack Gruber:

Well, you talk about.

Barack Gruber:

You talk about, you know, the passion of being part of the university and whatnot.

Barack Gruber:

Being a fan of South Carolina Gamecocks, do you find it difficult to find and maintain that objectivity with the platform?

Zach Boyd:

Oh, yeah, no doubt, no doubt.

Zach Boyd:

At the end of the day, there are times that people are going to be upset with you because you have to give them the truth.

Zach Boyd:

You know, if somebody's not performing, you give them the truth.

Zach Boyd:

Like, for example, Mark, Brandon Walker.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, Brandon.

Barack Gruber:

Put the ball gap back.

Barack Gruber:

Put the ball gag back in.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach King:

Sink as low to be in your frog with a ball gag on, too.

Zach King:

Oh, my God, that's great.

Zach King:

But you're saying Mark Kingston.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, yeah, we know he wasn't.

Zach Boyd:

He wasn't a good coach, man.

Zach Boyd:

And you talk to the players that are surrounding the baseball program and kind of talk more about it, and you truly, really find out how big of a, you know, a doiker this guy is.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, he was a pain in the ass.

Zach Boyd:

Didn't care about the players to that extent.

Zach Boyd:

Like Ray Tanner did.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

With his guys.

Zach Boyd:

You know, on Saturdays, for example, during the football season, he would have the guys out there working out and training and everything else.

Zach Boyd:

Paul Manary, on the other hand, takes over University of South Carolina baseball coach.

Zach Boyd:

He's letting these guys enjoy their Saturdays, go to football games, be a student.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach King:

Things behind the scenes have been fantastic.

Zach King:

Just watching him.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

Just watching him talk to us.

Zach King:

Making jokes like he was telling.

Zach King:

Who was it?

Zach King:

I think.

Zach King:

I think it was Roman Kimball.

Zach King:

He's like, what, you got your sunglasses on?

Zach King:

There's.

Zach King:

What do you got those out here for?

Zach King:

And he's like, well, you got yours on, too.

Zach King:

And he goes, ah, so I do.

Zach King:

And he just, like, walks around.

Zach King:

Just the foolish stuff he does.

Zach King:

It's a very.

Zach King:

He seems like an awesome coach to play for.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, yeah, he's.

Zach Boyd:

He's very Ray Tanner esque.

Zach Boyd:

He has those vibes about him.

Zach Boyd:

I've had a couple meetings with Coach Manarian.

Zach Boyd:

He's a genuine guy.

Zach Boyd:

And when we.

Zach Boyd:

When Ethan Petrie.

Zach Boyd:

We talk a lot.

Zach Boyd:

Ethan Petri and I, we talk a lot.

Zach Boyd:

And the thing about it, he's like, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

He's like, coach lets us be guys.

Zach Boyd:

Let's just be students.

Zach Boyd:

College students.

Zach Boyd:

Lets us enjoy where it was just.

Zach Boyd:

It seemed like it was more like ran like a business.

Zach Boyd:

When Coach Kingston was here, they didn't let him, you know, let those kids play.

Zach Boyd:

It's kind of like with Will Muschamp, the same thing.

Zach Boyd:

I have friends that played for Will Muschamp, and they'll tell you, yeah, he was straight business, NFL, basically.

Zach Boyd:

Straight business guy.

Zach Boyd:

Don't let, you know, didn't care about those.

Zach Boyd:

Those guys having fun.

Zach Boyd:

You know, if it's your birthday, it's just another day in the year, you know?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

The whole thing with Thanksgiving, right, He had to think about Thanksgiving.

Zach Boyd:

Thanksgiving is a meal, not a day.

Zach Boyd:

Coach Boomer, on the other hand, you.

Zach King:

Know, that was so.

Zach King:

I hated that.

Zach King:

And the best way I put it, it was.

Zach King:

For Muschamp, it was a stop.

Zach King:

Along the way, he at no point had any heart or gave a shit about setting any records or.

Zach King:

Or.

Zach King:

Or anything like giving.

Zach King:

He just didn't.

Zach King:

This was a stop.

Zach King:

And you do with Shane Beamer, the literal culture he brought here.

Zach King:

He had a culture war with Stoops at Kentucky for two seconds, and he literally.

Zach King:

The culture blew Kentucky to the plummeting depths that there are right now.

Zach King:

I mean, watching side.

Zach King:

Watching Kentucky fans think they were gonna one, beat us two badly.

Zach King:

And watching them get just run out of the house was fantastic.

Zach King:

Couldn't happen to a better program.

Zach King:

But it takes that.

Zach King:

That buy in, that brotherly love.

Zach King:

One unit.

Zach King:

Beamer was talking today about having three sets of brothers on the team, and he goes, what kind of.

Zach King:

What other kind of universities breed the kind of love and brotherhood that a parent is not only sending one kid to, that they see what.

Zach King:

How much fun their kid is having, how successful they're being as a student athlete, that they're like, the other one has to go, like, all about it, please, if that's what you want to do, go join your brother.

Zach King:

And I was like, that's absolutely right.

Zach King:

You have just this camaraderie with this team.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, I think.

Barack Gruber:

I think one of the coolest things that I've seen come out of South Carolina, like, the last year or so is some of those social media posts where Beamer will walk onto the field and during practice and he'll.

Barack Gruber:

He'll have the whole team pull around or the whole offense or the whole defense and whatnot, and he'll start.

Barack Gruber:

He'll start shining on somebody with accolades from the last three or four games.

Barack Gruber:

And then at the end of it, he's like, and guess what?

Barack Gruber:

You're going here for free now.

Barack Gruber:

And, like, it gives me chills every single time.

Barack Gruber:

Because, you know, with nil and everything like that, there's.

Barack Gruber:

There's money available for things like that that fall outside of the scope.

Barack Gruber:

But, like, it is.

Barack Gruber:

It is such a cool thing because, you know, and I will.

Barack Gruber:

I will say this, and Zach knows Beamer wasn't.

Barack Gruber:

Was not it for me.

Barack Gruber:

And I'm not a.

Barack Gruber:

I'm not a huge Carolina Gamecock fan.

Barack Gruber:

I'm a Georgia Tech fan, but, like, that's the home team, so I definitely root for them.

Barack Gruber:

But, like, I wasn't all in on Beamer two.

Barack Gruber:

Two seasons ago because it just didn't seem like there was the discipline.

Barack Gruber:

It didn't seem like.

Barack Gruber:

It didn't seem like the players recognized him as being the guy that was going to crack down on when they made the mistakes.

Barack Gruber:

I mean, we had guys walking into the, you know, running into the end zone, dropping the ball before they cross the line, and.

Zach Boyd:

Sure, sure.

Barack Gruber:

And I see those things, and it's like, you know, Beamer's got to.

Barack Gruber:

He's got to come down on that.

Barack Gruber:

He's got to.

Barack Gruber:

He's got to work with them to.

Barack Gruber:

To.

Barack Gruber:

To.

Barack Gruber:

To better the discipline.

Barack Gruber:

But this year, it's completely different.

Barack Gruber:

Turnaround.

Barack Gruber:

I mean, is it.

Barack Gruber:

You know, this is a.

Barack Gruber:

This is a team, when you watch them play, they're playing with so much heart that I just didn't see before.

Zach King:

I think you get a lot, too.

Zach King:

I'm with you, Barrett.

Zach King:

When it came to, like, I don't want that lovey dovey.

Zach King:

Oh, that.

Zach King:

That kind of thing.

Zach King:

I bought into it when Shane came, but Shane can be cold, too, when it comes down to it.

Zach King:

He, like, he spoke today, he had players that they were trying to recruit, and until they got on the six win kick, they were calling him back.

Zach King:

He goes, oh, you didn't want me back then, so, no, yeah, you're not gonna have me now.

Zach Boyd:

Yep.

Zach King:

And you need that.

Zach King:

So you know that he's cold When.

Zach King:

When players elected to go to other schools and then said, can I come back?

Zach King:

And the way they left wasn't copacetic for his program.

Zach King:

He's absolutely not.

Zach King:

So he's picking these guys that are bought in, which it stands for something.

Zach King:

It's like almost an intangible thing that someone like Coach Beamer has to be the one to figure out.

Zach King:

And I think it's.

Zach King:

It's clearly working.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, it's working, absolutely.

Barack Gruber:

Zach, I want to ask you what.

Zach King:

What.

Barack Gruber:

What's been your favorite moment up until now with this whole famously.

Barack Gruber:

Garnet, you know, just this.

Barack Gruber:

This journey that you're on.

Zach Boyd:

Honestly, there's a couple things I would say.

Zach Boyd:

The first one, when I was invited to cover the Manchester United Liverpool game, that was radio.

Zach Boyd:

I was blown away, honestly.

Zach Boyd:

Like, I.

Zach Boyd:

When I got the email, dude, I just.

Zach Boyd:

I dropped my phone, like, started tearing up.

Zach Boyd:

I'm like, no way.

Zach Boyd:

This is real.

Zach Boyd:

Like, this can't be real.

Zach Boyd:

And, like, I looked at it again and it said.

Zach Boyd:

And I was like, no way, man.

Zach King:

Like this?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, like insane.

Zach Boyd:

And so that.

Zach Boyd:

That right there got me real good.

Zach Boyd:

Because as you most y'all know, I mean, I cover the men's soccer program.

Zach Boyd:

I'm the only person to ever do that, that I know of.

Zach Boyd:

The outside entity, the only ones that cover University of Sacramento soccer program are students, basically, for the university.

Zach Boyd:

And then General, you'll have maybe John Whittle out there from 247, occasionally out there or something like that, but nobody there every game.

Zach Boyd:

And I made a promise to Tony Ann under coach Tony Ann.

Zach Boyd:

And I said, look, man, I said.

Zach Boyd:

I said, I want you guys.

Zach Boyd:

Because he just got to South Carolina, basically just got to the university at the time.

Zach Boyd:

And I was like, look, man, I said, I have a platform, and I think it'll be good for you guys.

Zach Boyd:

Like, I think I can help get you some, you know, views and some engagements and let people see the true, you know, meaning behind your program.

Zach Boyd:

And he took me out.

Zach Boyd:

He took me out on it.

Zach Boyd:

Like, he said, yeah, come on.

Zach Boyd:

And so it was Funny.

Zach Boyd:

I get there and the first day I get up there in the press box, and the Sid looks me said, who are you?

Zach Boyd:

I said, oh.

Zach Boyd:

Exactly the face of guard.

Zach Boyd:

He said, oh.

Zach Boyd:

He said, I.

Zach Boyd:

I wasn't.

Zach Boyd:

I.

Zach Boyd:

I didn't know you're coming.

Zach Boyd:

And I was like, okay.

Zach Boyd:

And then after that, obviously that, that all changed.

Zach Boyd:

But it was the funniest thing when you saw me just walk in the press box, didn't know who the heck I was.

Zach Boyd:

Acting like I owned the place, honestly.

Zach King:

That's awesome.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I bet.

Zach King:

I love Tony Annan, for one, but he probably went up there.

Zach King:

He's like, you let Zach in there right now?

Zach Boyd:

Basically.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, that's a good impression.

Zach Boyd:

But, yeah, basically, basically.

Zach King:

So.

Zach Boyd:

But no, it's.

Zach Boyd:

It's been great, man.

Zach Boyd:

Cover the program.

Zach Boyd:

Learning, Learning the guys.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, the transfer portal has been big in soccer as well.

Zach Boyd:

It's something a lot of people don't talk about.

Zach Boyd:

And the immigration laws under the recent times have been tough, so getting a lot of guys, University of South Carolina, the NCAA and the immigration policy has come into effect.

Zach Boyd:

So we haven't been able to get the guys on campus like we'd want.

Zach Boyd:

So that.

Zach Boyd:

That's been a bit of a pain the last couple seasons.

Zach Boyd:

Hopefully, you know, things get panned out over the next few years as time progresses, maybe the NCAA gets it together.

Zach Boyd:

I don't know whose ball that where.

Zach Boyd:

Where the ball drops on that.

Zach Boyd:

I don't know what side it falls on, but better figure it out, right?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I know.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I better figure it out because it makes it tough.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, you know, you got your coach out there recruiting these guys, bringing them in from different countries, and all of a sudden you can't get somebody here.

Zach Boyd:

The NCAA didn't clear him.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, South Carolina right now has a clearing issue right now with a basketball program with Federico having that issue, trying to get him on.

Zach Boyd:

So they're dealing with that and then.

Zach Boyd:

But back to the topic, man.

Zach Boyd:

You know, one of the biggest rewarding things, too, is when fans come up to you, like at games and things like that, they're like, oh, you're, you know, you're famously garnet.

Zach Boyd:

Appreciate everything you do, your content and all that, and I'm not in for myself, but when I hear that people actually enjoy it, that that means something to me.

Zach Boyd:

You know what I mean?

Zach Boyd:

It makes, you know, all right, so you're actually seeing it.

Zach Boyd:

You're enjoying the stuff I'm putting out.

Zach Boyd:

That.

Zach Boyd:

That means something to me.

Zach Boyd:

I'm glad that I could, you know, you know, give you entertainment honestly, or provide you with entertainment, brother.

Zach King:

I have to tell you, like, it is full blown.

Zach King:

When you first started your first one with Advisor Sports, I was like, it's, it's good.

Zach King:

When you went full famously Garnet, I had a taste of what to expect from you.

Zach King:

And you went above and beyond.

Zach King:

There's so many Gamecock Twitter sites out there.

Zach King:

There's so many Gamecock media sites.

Zach King:

Yours is going to give you a fact.

Zach King:

If you're wrong, you'll say you were wrong and you have the inside information for it.

Zach King:

Everything has been backed up.

Zach King:

It is legitimately the top Gamecock fan site you're going to find.

Zach King:

I mean, it proves itself.

Zach King:

You have Justin King following you, Stephen Garcia, Wes Mitchell.

Zach King:

Like, you have.

Zach King:

You have names in the biz that are watching what you're doing at the same time.

Zach King:

I mean, hell, do you have coaches I don't even know about following?

Zach King:

I, I looked at the list for a minute.

Zach King:

So it's, it's.

Zach King:

People are watching what you're doing and it's paying off.

Zach King:

Even when you got the invite to the Senior bowl, the Reese's Senior bowl that well, didn't Spencer Rattler play in that one?

Zach Boyd:

He did.

Zach Boyd:

He did.

Zach King:

So you got, you got some questions in with him, right?

Zach King:

I.

Zach King:

I do believe I remember that.

Zach King:

Seeing that you're there, dude, you're doing it.

Zach King:

Keep moving, keep pushing.

Zach King:

It's amazing to see.

Zach King:

I've known you now for.

Zach King:

It's getting close to 20 years.

Zach Boyd:

I know.

Zach Boyd:

I'm gonna lay down.

Zach King:

I'll see you guys later.

Zach King:

It's been a minute, but just watching you grow and watching your platform move, how it does and the content you put out is amazing.

Zach King:

Truly.

Barack Gruber:

Zach, how does the welcome Home podcast compliment famously?

Barack Gruber:

Garnet.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

So welcome Home podcast, there's a story behind that.

Zach Boyd:

So my co host, Q, and then the founder of it, his name is Sin, we call him Sid is the nickname.

Zach Boyd:

Big Cinderella, Stormwell fan and.

Zach Boyd:

But Q, he basically grew up with me before I got to Chapin.

Zach Boyd:

So, you know, you know, originally from Chapin at that point, that's who I claim didn't get into Chaffin about the fourth grade year of elementary school.

Zach Boyd:

But before then I was between Irmo and Dutch Fork, and at the time I was at Dutch Fork, I was playing rec ball down there out in Harbison, where Harveston used to have rec fields and all that.

Zach Boyd:

They don't have it anymore, but they used to have a lot of rec fields down there.

Zach Boyd:

We used to play recreation ball at Little League and things like that.

Zach Boyd:

And we just put two and two together one day, man.

Zach Boyd:

We're all just, like, talking in a group chat on Twitter.

Zach Boyd:

Like, you know, we just.

Zach Boyd:

It just started talking.

Zach Boyd:

It's like, yeah, I used to play, you know, recall over here.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, where at?

Zach Boyd:

And then you tell him, oh, wait a minute.

Zach Boyd:

And I'm like, yeah, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

He's like, oh, you played for.

Zach Boyd:

You played for Johnson Control.

Zach Boyd:

I'll be like, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

He's like, I did, too.

Zach Boyd:

And so you're like, whoa.

Zach Boyd:

And then you look at the.

Zach Boyd:

And then he had the picture.

Zach Boyd:

And then there we are in this damn team.

Zach Boyd:

Pick.

Zach Boyd:

I'm like, oh, my God, dude.

Zach Boyd:

Like, we played ball together.

Zach Boyd:

Like, that's insane.

Zach Boyd:

And so I'm telling you, dude.

Zach Boyd:

So that happened.

Zach Boyd:

And so Sin was over.

Zach Boyd:

He was the host of the welcome Home podcast for a while, and he just.

Zach Boyd:

He got tired of it.

Zach Boyd:

And so I was like, well, I mean, I'll take over, man.

Zach Boyd:

I've got a vision.

Zach Boyd:

We can make this thing bigger.

Zach Boyd:

And so we're doing it like this.

Zach Boyd:

We're doing live shows.

Zach Boyd:

You know, we're averaging a couple hundred people on Twitter an episode, a few hundred people on Facebook Live an episode.

Zach Boyd:

You know, it just depends.

Zach Boyd:

And then we just recently started doing Tick Tock, where we'll go live.

Zach Boyd:

We can't do, like, the format that y'all are doing it, but we do like a.

Zach Boyd:

Kind of like, I'm live and I have him as a guest, basically.

Zach Boyd:

And so he'll be there in the background so we can have that conversation like normal.

Zach Boyd:

They just can't see him on camera because they don't have X amount of followers.

Zach Boyd:

But it's just.

Zach Boyd:

It's been.

Zach Boyd:

It's been great, man.

Zach Boyd:

We compliment each other, Q and I.

Zach Boyd:

He's got intel as much as I do.

Zach Boyd:

He knows people in the program like I do.

Zach Boyd:

And at the end of the day, it's just relationships that we build.

Zach Boyd:

And, man, like, the players, the families like the players, families like Lenore Sellers, dad Norris.

Zach Boyd:

He loves us, man.

Zach Boyd:

Like, he came up.

Zach Boyd:

We.

Zach Boyd:

We met up after the A.

Zach Boyd:

M.

Zach Boyd:

Game, like, after we beat A M.

Zach Boyd:

And we just started talking.

Zach Boyd:

I'm like, one of times, like, man, like.

Zach Boyd:

And, man, I was about to damn.

Zach Boyd:

Start tearing up.

Zach Boyd:

When I went up to him, like, man, I said.

Zach Boyd:

I said, that came from the north.

Zach Boyd:

I said, that's the growth we're talking about.

Zach Boyd:

That's the development.

Zach Boyd:

He's like, that's it.

Zach Boyd:

He's like, that is all it ever needed to be.

Zach Boyd:

I'm like, I told fans this.

Zach Boyd:

He's like, I know.

Zach Boyd:

He's like, I called episode.

Zach Boyd:

So I'm like, man.

Zach Boyd:

I'm like, so?

Zach Boyd:

It's awesome, man.

Zach Boyd:

It truly is.

Zach Boyd:

It truly is.

Zach Boyd:

And to be able to turn this into a much more positive situation to where it used to be with this program and the entities that would follow and cover it, it's just.

Zach Boyd:

It's a blessing, honestly.

Zach Boyd:

And I.

Zach Boyd:

I'm, you know, hey, man, that's.

Zach Boyd:

That's what it's about.

Zach Boyd:

That's what it's about.

Barack Gruber:

It really is.

Barack Gruber:

It's such a cool journey.

Barack Gruber:

And, you know, the fact that, you know.

Barack Gruber:

Because you still have a day job, though, correct?

Zach Boyd:

Sure, I do.

Zach Boyd:

I do.

Barack Gruber:

All of.

Barack Gruber:

All of what I see publishing on.

Barack Gruber:

On Facebook and X and everything.

Barack Gruber:

Like, you know, the fact that you have the ability to do that and have a family and, you know, a regular job is just, you know.

Zach King:

Zach, are you a vampire?

Zach King:

Do you not sleep?

Zach Boyd:

I mean, there are times.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, I might be editing till the Amish hours of the morning, you know, it's one of those things.

Zach Boyd:

It's getting tougher, though.

Zach Boyd:

I'm not gonna lie.

Zach Boyd:

It's been real tough.

Zach Boyd:

And holding the job in the corporate world, right?

Zach Boyd:

And then doing this on the side, it kind of takes you out of it.

Zach Boyd:

You're like, you do, you know, you do your job in the corporate world, right?

Zach Boyd:

And then you do this on the side to get you out of it.

Zach Boyd:

But it's also, at the same time, it's like, I really want to be doing the famously Garner thing full time and just get out of the corporate world in general, because it's all about following the American dream, right?

Zach Boyd:

Following the thing that you want to do in life.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, for sure.

Zach Boyd:

And if you love what you do, you never work in a day in your life, right?

Zach Boyd:

So it's like, yeah, that's what they said.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

Let me put this little bonnet be in your bonnet.

Zach King:

If South Carolina or welcome Home podcast does not use code and Cambria's Welcome Home that we all know from Guitar Hero, at some point, I'm gonna lose it.

Zach King:

Like, it's just so apropos for the entire thing.

Zach King:

And that song hits so hard.

Zach King:

Like, everybody does.

Zach King:

Like, maybe one day we run out to the field that.

Zach King:

After:

Zach King:

I don't know, Maybe some Welcome Home ever since welcome Home was like the.

Zach King:

The moniker for everything, for all the commits and stuff.

Zach King:

I was just watching.

Zach King:

I Was like, at some point this song is gonna play and they're gonna vibe.

Zach King:

It's gonna be amazing.

Zach King:

It's never happened, so I'm throwing that task to you.

Zach King:

It has to happen.

Zach King:

I gotta hear it one day.

Zach Boyd:

So I'll see if I can get Justin Kings here about it, see what he has to say.

Zach King:

Oh, he follows you.

Zach King:

So I'm sure I'm Just let him know.

Barack Gruber:

I'm trying to find.

Barack Gruber:

I'm trying to find the picture I took with Lenora Sellers at the Fireflies game earlier this year.

Zach King:

He finally had to look at Barrett and said, if you leave me alone, I'll take a picture.

Barack Gruber:

Look, look, look.

Barack Gruber:

He was.

Barack Gruber:

He was a gentleman.

Barack Gruber:

I joked about him wearing glasses.

Barack Gruber:

And then how long did he go into the season before he started wearing contacts?

Barack Gruber:

What, the second game?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

Yeah.

Zach King:

But that's because people kept going.

Zach King:

I don't think you can see.

Zach King:

I was like, I'm pretty sure he's been wearing those glasses a lot longer than you have.

Zach King:

So I don't know.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, he could see.

Barack Gruber:

He was fine.

Barack Gruber:

But the contacts, I think.

Barack Gruber:

I think they probably helped.

Barack Gruber:

So what.

Barack Gruber:

Let me.

Barack Gruber:

Let me ask you this.

Barack Gruber:

College, you know, how do you see the future of college sports media coverage evolving and how does famously Garnet fit into that plan as far as how are you going to adapt?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

So I think as time progresses, Nils be going to come a much more steeper thing.

Zach Boyd:

These players could get a big, you know, quite.

Zach Boyd:

Get a big head in their mind thinking that their value is worth more than what it could be.

Zach Boyd:

And essentially, the thing about it's got to come down to if that happens is, you know, what is their cost going to be?

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

Because, I mean, some of the guys we.

Zach Boyd:

We did absolutely pay to get on the show and as we should have.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, it's paid for their time.

Zach Boyd:

It's going to them.

Zach Boyd:

It's part of the garner trust.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, why not?

Zach Boyd:

You know, why not?

Zach Boyd:

So kind of looking at that.

Zach Boyd:

It depends, right?

Zach Boyd:

I will say this the way it cannot try to get off too topic here, but the Garnet trust in nil for South Carolina is becoming bigger and bigger by the day.

Zach Boyd:

So we're seeing a lot more donations come through, a lot more people joining the Garnet trust.

Zach Boyd:

And this has got to do with the success for one that sou Carolina's having on the field.

Zach Boyd:

And it's also got to do with what we can put out there.

Zach Boyd:

And as a platform, if.

Zach Boyd:

As somebody for South Carolina, if I can get out there and tell people to donate towards nil and they listen.

Zach Boyd:

Which, by the way, I went on a tangent the other day in an episode, and apparently I got 10 people to sign up just like that.

Zach Boyd:

Don't know what it took.

Zach Boyd:

Don't know what the.

Zach Boyd:

What.

Zach Boyd:

What they're putting in it.

Zach Boyd:

I don't care.

Zach Boyd:

But apparently it works, so.

Zach Boyd:

But kind of looking at that, really, man, is coming down to nil.

Zach Boyd:

And I think it just gets easier, man.

Zach Boyd:

I think it just gets easier to really get in there with the program, you know, as far as on my side of things.

Zach Boyd:

Because.

Zach Boyd:

Because the way things are right now, I don't have to answer to anybody.

Zach Boyd:

I don't have to answer to the Sid of their football program or basketball, baseball.

Zach Boyd:

I can have my conversations as freely as I want.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

You know.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, that's.

Zach Boyd:

That's really about it for that.

Barack Gruber:

As a.

Barack Gruber:

As a.

Barack Gruber:

As a Gamecock fan.

Barack Gruber:

What's your.

Barack Gruber:

What's your earliest memory of being a Gamecock fan?

Barack Gruber:

Like, what's the.

Barack Gruber:

What's the first thing that you can.

Barack Gruber:

You can remember that or I guess.

Barack Gruber:

I guess is that that memory that, like, set the stone, that this was concrete now?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I think, man.

Zach Boyd:

So there's a couple things, man.

Zach Boyd:

atnot, but the seasons of the:

Zach Boyd:

sity of South Carolina in the:

Zach Boyd:

I didn't really.

Zach Boyd:

Back when I was younger, I didn't know if I was going to go to that full sport route because I liked.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, I like skateboarding back then.

Zach Boyd:

I liked the old Pokemon card route.

Zach Boyd:

You know what I mean?

Zach Boyd:

Video games.

Zach Boyd:

I was in everything.

Zach Boyd:

But it just got to me.

Zach Boyd:

Sports in the day in high school, it really opened up and.

Zach Boyd:

And I just.

Zach Boyd:

As Zach could tell you, man, Chapin was really big with sports.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, the NCAA Kurt tournament came around, they'd have all the TVs in the library on, have two different games.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, like, that was love.

Zach Boyd:

Like there's other school, there's.

Zach Boyd:

Schools would do that, you know, and so I think that had a part of it, man.

Zach Boyd:

My.

Zach Boyd:

My freshman year, my.

Zach Boyd:

The new assistant principal who's now a doctor now is Dr.

Zach Boyd:

Ross.

Zach Boyd:

He played university at Duke.

Zach Boyd:

He played football for me.

Zach Boyd:

He's a linebacker.

Zach King:

He was a dookie.

Zach King:

And I remember him bragging about being in One of the NCAA games, he was like, hey, that's me.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

So, man, the high school years, man, that's what.

Zach Boyd:

I really fell in love with it.

Zach Boyd:

And we.

Zach Boyd:

We traveled, man.

Zach Boyd:

for the University College of:

Zach King:

You know, we got to do the drill on the.

Zach King:

The high school field a couple times.

Zach King:

Oh, yeah, we were rotc.

Zach King:

ROTC buddies.

Zach Boyd:

We were.

Zach Boyd:

Man, those are.

Zach Boyd:

Those are the days, man.

Zach Boyd:

Those were the days.

Zach Boyd:

I got.

Zach Boyd:

I got freaking decleaded.

Zach Boyd:

Well, D shoot.

Zach Boyd:

I would say decluttered.

Zach Boyd:

I got D shoot in one of those flag football games we were playing one time.

Zach King:

I'll tell you what.

Zach King:

I still keep Master Chiefs or Senior Chiefs squared away.

Zach King:

Dude, I say squared away for everything.

Zach King:

That, man has ingrained that in me.

Zach King:

Clear?

Zach King:

Squared away.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Oh, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

They've seen a chief.

Zach Boyd:

What a guy.

Barack Gruber:

Is there.

Barack Gruber:

Are there.

Barack Gruber:

Are there any Gamecock players?

Barack Gruber:

You know, history, dead, alive, whatever?

Barack Gruber:

Is there.

Barack Gruber:

Is there a player out there that you haven't gotten to interview yet that you wish you could or you wish you could have?

Zach Boyd:

So there's a couple that are actually on in the pipeline actually right now.

Barack Gruber:

Okay.

Zach Boyd:

One of them is Connor Shaw.

Zach Boyd:

Connor Shaw, actually, the creator of this brand right here, GC Supply.

Zach Boyd:

The hat I'm wearing right now.

Zach King:

Love their stuff.

Zach Boyd:

It's fantastic.

Zach Boyd:

It's absolutely fantastic.

Zach Boyd:

He's in the.

Zach Boyd:

On the pipeline.

Zach Boyd:

He's getting.

Zach Boyd:

He's gonna come on the show eventually.

Zach Boyd:

We've talked about it in person, about coming on the show when I wanted more than not just him, but also want to get his business partner Dustin to talk about their brand, not just about Connor Shaw and his football and things like that.

Zach Boyd:

And then there's.

Zach Boyd:

There's professionals that are playing out right now, like Alshon Jeffrey, you know, he's not playing in the league anymore.

Zach Boyd:

I'd like to get Alshon on Xavier Leggette.

Zach Boyd:

I would love to get Lee get on because I think his accent would throw everybody through a true loop, because that's who he is.

Zach Boyd:

He's not putting on a show.

Zach King:

Man.

Zach King:

Come on, now.

Zach King:

Dude.

Zach King:

I love it, dude.

Zach Boyd:

That is him, dude, who's at the.

Zach Boyd:

The Senior Bowl, He.

Zach Boyd:

He goes.

Zach Boyd:

He comes on me, said, he's just that man, you know?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

You don't flew out here.

Zach Boyd:

You don't flew all the way over there.

Zach Boyd:

I was like, I did fly out here.

Zach Boyd:

He's like.

Zach Boyd:

He made that love, man.

Zach Boyd:

That's real love.

Zach King:

They had him.

Zach King:

They had him.

Zach King:

And I know you saw because Zach's also a Panthers Fan.

Zach King:

They had him, they had him interviewed with that turkey hat on.

Zach King:

He goes, what are you, what are you eating for Thanksgiving?

Zach King:

He goes, man, my cousin, don't call me.

Zach King:

They got that cool fried up.

Zach King:

I'm looking forward to that coon.

Zach King:

And I'm like, Southern as he gets, dude.

Zach King:

Like, you know, he's not playing.

Zach King:

He's talking about eating a raccoon like that, Is that, is it.

Zach Boyd:

Mole in South Carolina, man?

Zach King:

Oh, it's great.

Zach King:

Like, even when he was interviewed at South Carolina, every time if I'm watching an interview after a game, it's Xavier Leggette just to hear what the hell he has to say.

Barack Gruber:

I tell you what, between him and Bryce Young and you know, the Panthers, I, I, I did not have any fear of beating the Panthers twice this season, but I seeing, seeing them play the past few games several weeks, I mean, they, Carolina looks like they're, they're making a, I mean, they're not going to make it to the playoffs, but they're making a run to make sure that next year they're going to piss.

Zach King:

Some people off at some point this year.

Zach King:

Yeah, as long as you keep putting Adam Thielen on that stretch rack so he can go make these ridiculous end zone catches.

Zach King:

It's all right.

Zach King:

Do what you're going to do because you're doing a little bit better than we expected.

Zach King:

Not as good as we want, but it's just.

Zach King:

Yeah, it's been so hard.

Zach King:

It's so hard.

Barack Gruber:

Zach, do you have any, any game day rituals that you go through before, before a South Carolina game?

Zach Boyd:

So I try to, I try to go to Gamecock Walk every time they do Gamecock Walk for the, when the players and coaches combined so to respect to them.

Zach Boyd:

But what I also try to do is get out of Bernie's on game day.

Zach Boyd:

I like try to get down to Bernie's.

Zach Boyd:

I get the special if I can.

Zach Boyd:

If I can't, I'm disappointed.

Zach Boyd:

But last time I was at Bernie's was the A and M game and we saw that game went.

Zach Boyd:

And then previous to that it was the game.

Zach Boyd:

Was it, I think was Kentucky.

Zach Boyd:

I think yeah, it was Kentucky last year when Darude came to town and it played Sandstorm.

Zach Boyd:

So yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Oh, that was a moment and I met Drew it after the game and I tell you what, that guy is so cool.

Zach Boyd:

So nice.

Zach Boyd:

Super.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, they super nice guy.

Barack Gruber:

People listening.

Barack Gruber:

If you don't know, Bernie's is the best fried chicken in, in Columbia.

Zach Boyd:

Preach.

Zach King:

So it is the only person that's Even gonna come close to rivaling.

Zach King:

Rivaling.

Zach King:

It is.

Zach King:

Quick, White Rock.

Zach King:

Quick way.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, Right.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, White Rock.

Barack Gruber:

It's pretty close, but that's not in Columbia.

Barack Gruber:

That's in that sense, White Rock.

Zach King:

I have a.

Zach King:

I have a fun ritual for game day.

Zach King:

I did it one time with old Shane Beamer right here.

Zach King:

We have a mezzanine in my house that looks over.

Barack Gruber:

Not approved.

Barack Gruber:

Not approved.

Barack Gruber:

I can't let that one go out.

Zach King:

It looks over my living room where we watch the game and stuff.

Zach King:

I always stick Shane right there, like, as if he's just looking down.

Zach King:

And it scares the.

Zach King:

Out of my wife.

Zach King:

She'll walk and be like, what the.

Zach King:

Like, think someone's staring at.

Zach King:

I'm like, he's here for the game.

Zach King:

Like, he's just.

Zach King:

We won the first one.

Zach King:

I did it.

Zach King:

Now I'm not going to stop.

Zach King:

So my baseball side comes through heavily.

Zach King:

I'm like, no, we have to.

Barack Gruber:

I.

Barack Gruber:

Zach, that does feel disturbing.

Barack Gruber:

Like, at some point, poor Shane's going to become so worn out, his head's just going to be bent over.

Zach King:

He's like three years old now.

Zach King:

He's steady.

Zach King:

And they have another one at the same gas station.

Zach King:

And I can get it if anybody wants it.

Barack Gruber:

Is it.

Barack Gruber:

Is it the exact same thing?

Zach King:

Exactly the same, yeah.

Barack Gruber:

That's hilarious.

Barack Gruber:

All right, well, okay, so.

Barack Gruber:

So speaking of Shane Beamer and.

Barack Gruber:

And I know, I know we're all.

Barack Gruber:

We've all pretty much diagnosed ourselves as fans.

Barack Gruber:

What are your thoughts on Shane Beamer's leadership and direction up with the football program up to this point?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I mean, Shane's been fantastic.

Zach Boyd:

I had my.

Zach Boyd:

My moments in my reserves before when he first got with the program, and the former players, they really fought for him.

Zach Boyd:

They wanted him to play at south.

Zach Boyd:

To come coach of South Carolina really bad.

Zach Boyd:

And I mean, Barrett, you already hit on one thing, too, about discipline.

Zach Boyd:

And I was right there.

Zach Boyd:

I'm like, I mean, he's still younger.

Zach Boyd:

He hasn't truly had this experience as a head coach yet.

Zach Boyd:

So I don't.

Zach Boyd:

I didn't know how it was going to go.

Zach Boyd:

And being around these different players, interviewing and talking to them, they really let you know who Shane is as a person.

Zach Boyd:

And like, for example, with Lenoris, we had Lenore Sellers on earlier in the season.

Zach Boyd:

Him, Jalen Kilgore, Debo Williams, guys like that.

Zach Boyd:

And they were talking about what it's like to be with coach and will he bring the hammer down?

Zach Boyd:

And he absolutely will.

Zach Boyd:

He'll bring the hammer down.

Zach Boyd:

He'll let you know.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, he'll put people out on the spot.

Zach Boyd:

He'll call you out.

Zach Boyd:

But the way Shane has done things at University of South Carolina and that the mess that he had to clean up, honestly, before he got here, I mean, my goodness, the problems that will mush champ created, not only University of South Carolina, not only in Columbia, but South Carolina, but the whole state of South Carolina was an absolute mess.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, these high schools wanted nothing to do with this university at all.

Zach Boyd:

None.

Zach Boyd:

None.

Zach Boyd:

And that.

Zach Boyd:

That includes donors.

Zach Boyd:

He.

Zach Boyd:

They had.

Zach Boyd:

He had to go to apologize to donors because of what happened.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, it was an absolute travesty, the things that happened before Shane got here.

Zach Boyd:

So fast forward to all that.

Zach Boyd:

He's cleaned up all these messes.

Zach Boyd:

He's got.

Zach Boyd:

He's got all these fans in his corner now, now that he's winning games.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, you know, it took him, you know, for him to win games, for fans to get on his side.

Zach Boyd:

But it's a whole thing with this team.

Zach Boyd:

This team was so young coming into the season.

Zach Boyd:

Granted, they had a lot of guys on defense return, you know, came back.

Zach Boyd:

You had Kyle Kennard, who you added, sorry, Barrett, but you brought in Kyle Canard from Georgia Tech, right?

Zach Boyd:

You brought in DeAndre Jules, right, from Georgia Tech.

Zach Boyd:

And then you got Demetrius Knight from Charlotte.

Zach Boyd:

But you brought all these guys in to fill in these spots, these voids on defense.

Zach Boyd:

And then you had a quarterback, Lenore Sellers, registered freshman, only playing time was against Furman in a snap.

Zach Boyd:

Against Vanderbilt, you didn't have anything else behind that.

Zach Boyd:

You had no true wide receivers.

Zach Boyd:

You had no offense.

Zach Boyd:

Essentially, you brought in a Rocket Sanders from Arkansas, which, by the way, he's been injured the last two seasons to come in.

Zach Boyd:

So you really didn't know what you had.

Zach Boyd:

But you'd let Shane work with these guys.

Zach Boyd:

You let Shane coach these guys.

Zach Boyd:

You let him grow.

Zach Boyd:

You let them all grow together.

Zach Boyd:

And now you just had a 93 season, guys.

Zach Boyd:

You had me on last season and we talked about what my expectations were then, and I surely thought we were eight, nine win team, did I not?

Zach Boyd:

Maybe 10 wins.

Zach Boyd:

You know, I had both shot a.

Zach King:

Little over on that one.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

Were we talking about last year or this year?

Barack Gruber:

Because last year I think I pegged it.

Barack Gruber:

What did I have?

Barack Gruber:

5 wins.

Zach King:

It was last year.

Zach King:

Yeah, you asshole.

Zach King:

You nailed it.

Zach King:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, you did.

Zach Boyd:

You did.

Zach Boyd:

But here's the thing.

Zach Boyd:

Like, that wouldn't have happened if all these offense, you know, injuries on the offensive line didn't happen.

Zach Boyd:

Sure and so a lot of people didn't take that into account coming into the season.

Zach Boyd:

They're like, oh, you know, South Carolina's gonna have another five win season.

Zach Boyd:

They're not, you know, Shane Beamer's only going to be in the hot seat.

Zach Boyd:

He might get fired, you know, that kind of thing.

Zach Boyd:

But if you truly look at this program and truly paid attention and knew the health of where they were going to be, the death that they were going to have on this program, it all starts with the head guy, Shane Beamer.

Zach Boyd:

It all starts there.

Zach Boyd:

And by God, you went into the portal, you took care of business, you went into the, you know, you recruiting, you brought in Dylan Stewart, the best edge.

Zach Boyd:

I mean not the best edge player, but the best freshman this season.

Zach King:

Oh, absolutely.

Zach King:

Yeah.

Zach King:

He's going to win that.

Zach King:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

So I mean you got all these factors at the University of South Carolina.

Zach Boyd:

It all starts with the head guy up front man and Shade Beamer.

Zach Boyd:

And like I said, he's just, he's done a fantastic job and it's not going to stop.

Zach Boyd:

It's something that's going to continue.

Zach Boyd:

He's going to continue the success.

Zach Boyd:

He's only had one losing season at South Carolina.

Zach Boyd:

He surpassed Steve Spurrier four years.

Zach Boyd:

It wins.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

That's massive.

Barack Gruber:

The quickest.

Barack Gruber:

Quickest to 29 wins.

Zach Boyd:

Yes.

Barack Gruber:

I mean that, that is, that is huge.

Barack Gruber:

And I, you know, not that I'm, not that I'm going to just knock on Clemson, but Shane Beamer is the coach that I think Clemson would have liked to have had instead of the cheerleader that they, that they got right.

Zach King:

So before even his analysts that he brings in though.

Zach King:

Yeah, Mike Shula and stuff like you're just like, these are pretty big names just to come analyze some ball.

Zach King:

Well, it's wild.

Barack Gruber:

I'll ask you both this over.

Barack Gruber:

Under is three years.

Barack Gruber:

How long before Dabo is no longer at Clemson?

Barack Gruber:

Over three years.

Barack Gruber:

Under three years.

Zach King:

That man has.

Zach King:

But that man is so coveted by so many up in Pickens A and.

Barack Gruber:

M.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, but Clemson is such a, is such a, a wreck of, of up and down emotions when it comes to their coaches.

Zach King:

I don't know, Barrett, they're playing for the ACC championship right now, blah, blah, blah.

Barack Gruber:

I mean, come on.

Zach King:

Yeah, I think most, I think most rational people see that for the joke that it is.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

I think it honestly comes down to what happens on Saturday if Clemson gets ousted.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

They don't go to the playoffs.

Zach Boyd:

I think that's going to put more heat On Davo.

Zach Boyd:

You know, I think it's going to put more heat on Davo and I think it ultimately comes down to the transfer portal next season.

Zach Boyd:

If he doesn't use that, that portal, he's going to be out in three years or less.

Zach Boyd:

It's going to happen because you're not evolving with the game.

Zach Boyd:

It's just, it's going to get to a point it's stale.

Zach Boyd:

The board's gonna make a move, it's gonna happen.

Zach Boyd:

AD's gonna have to make a move on that.

Barack Gruber:

What is his argument against it?

Zach Boyd:

So way, way I was told or way I read Zach and correct me if I'm wrong on this, but he said why bring in these guys from the portal when I could recruit basically who I want and kind of do it from there?

Zach Boyd:

So just.

Zach King:

Yeah, exactly.

Barack Gruber:

Closed minded way of handling this, the whole situation.

Zach King:

Because I mean I've also heard that he didn't handle people leaving, transferring from his program very well either.

Zach Boyd:

He didn't, he didn't.

Zach Boyd:

You know, and it's a very closed mind way of thinking.

Zach Boyd:

And also the same fact, it's like, so you're telling me, okay, a Kyle Canard or somebody like that, a Rocket Sanders, could have helped your program this season.

Zach Boyd:

Like Clemson can't truly tell me that having somebody like that could have helped him like in an inexperienced defensive line could have brought in a guy like Kyle Kennard, had the other side eats while Kyle Kennard was, you know, giving pressure or vice versa.

Zach Boyd:

But you can't tell me that if you're not bringing in people into, you know, popping in these different positions to help out, it's gonna, it's gonna change things.

Zach Boyd:

I mean like if you don't do it, then what are you doing?

Zach Boyd:

Like you're not doing yourself a service.

Zach Boyd:

Like this game has changed, it has evolved.

Zach Boyd:

So you want your freshmans to go against juniors and seniors from the transfer portal.

Zach Boyd:

Come on man, that's just a dumb way of thinking, like experience over.

Zach Boyd:

Come on man.

Zach King:

That's a very old, he's so old school mentality that he's trying to just keep it purely recruits when everyone else is, you're, you're, you're, you have that Model T when everyone else is passing you in a Tesla like for the most like it's, it's just don't keep up.

Zach King:

You will suffocate and die.

Zach King:

I think the three year mark is a perfect, I think it could be 1, 1, 1 year, 1 more year of just mediocrity.

Zach King:

People are going to get pissed.

Zach King:

And then like that second year, they're going to be fire.

Zach Boyd:

Do it.

Zach King:

Do it or don't.

Barack Gruber:

It's all it took for Tommy Bowden.

Barack Gruber:

They were what they.

Barack Gruber:

They were only into.

Barack Gruber:

I guess they were only really into one bad season and it was, you know, they cut off his head.

Barack Gruber:

I mean, just brutal.

Zach King:

Tick Tock just told me inactivity detected.

Zach King:

I'm live.

Zach King:

Do I have to touch my computer?

Barack Gruber:

I don't know.

Zach Boyd:

Maybe.

Zach King:

Let me move it.

Barack Gruber:

So the last question I want to ask you, Zach, before we move on to seven questions because you haven't gotten a chance to do these yet.

Barack Gruber:

Oh, man.

Barack Gruber:

What is, what's your perspective on this, on the whole conference realignment for the sec?

Zach Boyd:

I mean, look, I'm not a fan of bringing Texas and Oklahoma and I wish they stayed in the Big 12, but I think at the end of the day, I think this thing is going to work out like the NFL.

Zach Boyd:

I think at some day, I don't know when, but I think it's going to be like nfc, afc.

Zach Boyd:

At some point.

Zach Boyd:

I think it's going to be cut and I think the NCAA is going to be obsolete.

Zach Boyd:

Honestly, I think it's going to come down to that.

Zach Boyd:

But for right now, bring in Texas, bringing Oklahoma.

Zach Boyd:

I don't quite understand it.

Zach Boyd:

It just doesn't make any sense.

Zach Boyd:

Sure.

Zach Boyd:

You add more revenue, more money.

Zach Boyd:

Okay, I get it.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach Boyd:

That's.

Zach Boyd:

That's all it is.

Zach Boyd:

Essentially bring more money to the sec.

Zach Boyd:

Big whoop.

Zach Boyd:

But it's going to kill the rivalries, honestly, like it's going to kill you out of conference rally.

Zach Boyd:

Clemson, South Carolina may not exist anymore in the next couple of years because of what's going on with this conference realignment.

Zach Boyd:

Because if you, for example, you just saw it, South Carolina beat a top 10 or top 15 Clemson team and only moved one spot in the college football playoffs.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Zach Boyd:

So you're telling me if maybe that was a, I don't know, a Georgia or Tennessee there instead?

Zach Boyd:

I, I don't know.

Zach Boyd:

I, I don't know.

Zach Boyd:

But I think it's going to come down to where things like that, things like that's going to happen.

Zach Boyd:

I think you're going to see more SEC games for one to get to the playoffs.

Zach King:

Yeah, I thought it was funny, but not SMU and Stanford funny.

Zach King:

So like that.

Zach King:

That's still in cow.

Zach King:

What the is.

Zach King:

You're literally the Atlantic Coast Conference and you're picking up Pacific Coast, Gulf Coast.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I, I didn't understand.

Zach Boyd:

I didn't understand.

Zach Boyd:

It was when the SEC added, you know, Missouri.

Zach Boyd:

When we added Missouri.

Zach Boyd:

Right.

Zach King:

I didn't take that southeast and.

Zach King:

And alter it each time.

Zach King:

You can just make that.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

And we have to cut it like.

Zach King:

Like a line like this down half of the.

Zach King:

At least you can make it work.

Zach King:

When you're having.

Zach King:

You had.

Zach King:

Got coast in your name.

Zach King:

A specific one.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

It's weird.

Zach Boyd:

It's definitely weird.

Zach Boyd:

It doesn't.

Zach Boyd:

It doesn't make any sense.

Zach Boyd:

I just.

Zach Boyd:

I feel like we're just pulling names out of a hat at this point and selecting them in different places.

Barack Gruber:

It does.

Zach King:

I think Cal was so funny because if you.

Zach King:

If you've ever seen their stadium, it is it.

Zach King:

Half the time it's raining and it's just on the rocks of the ocean, just like.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

What is this place like?

Zach King:

I would hate to be like, Cal and Stanford are on your schedule.

Zach King:

You're just like, I'll go to Texas, but I'm not going to California.

Zach Boyd:

Oh, my God.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Zach King:

Imagine how basketball has to feel when there's tournaments going on.

Barack Gruber:

Oh, yeah.

Zach King:

Good job.

Zach King:

I hope you like the jet lag, everyone.

Barack Gruber:

100%.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

Well, Zach, we really appreciate you being on this week.

Barack Gruber:

You know, make sure to follow Zach on.

Barack Gruber:

Famously garnered across all social media because it's.

Barack Gruber:

He.

Barack Gruber:

He keeps himself busy for it, and he does it to make sure that we're all well informed.

Barack Gruber:

You know, just all the links are in the show notes, so definitely check that out.

Barack Gruber:

I guess we're gonna.

Zach King:

You.

Barack Gruber:

You haven't had an opportunity to do this, Zach.

Barack Gruber:

We started doing this, I guess, around January last year.

Barack Gruber:

What we call it is seven questions.

Barack Gruber:

So we give.

Barack Gruber:

We give our guests the same seven questions to see what sort of answers we get.

Barack Gruber:

So the first question is, Zach, what was the last thing you googled?

Zach Boyd:

The last thing I googled?

Zach Boyd:

Let's see.

Zach Boyd:

It was rankings to a recruit, actually.

Barack Gruber:

Oh, okay.

Barack Gruber:

All right.

Barack Gruber:

Rankings to a recruit.

Barack Gruber:

Zach, second question.

Barack Gruber:

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Zach Boyd:

One superpower.

Zach Boyd:

Give me.

Zach Boyd:

Give me teleportation.

Barack Gruber:

That's the second time we've had teleportation, isn't it?

Barack Gruber:

Because didn't.

Barack Gruber:

Because wasn't.

Barack Gruber:

Zach, you're muted, but did you.

Barack Gruber:

Did we have.

Barack Gruber:

I think Cole.

Barack Gruber:

Was it Cole or Lori last week?

Barack Gruber:

That was like teleportation.

Barack Gruber:

Give me teleportation.

Zach King:

All right, sorry, I gotta hop off, guys, but.

Barack Gruber:

All right, chief.

Zach King:

I don't know who told you.

Zach King:

Zach, we're having twins and she's not feeling good, so thanks so much for being on Zach.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, absolutely.

Zach Boyd:

All right, Zach, if.

Barack Gruber:

If your life were a movie, what would the title be?

Zach Boyd:

Life were a movie, what would the title be?

Zach Boyd:

That's a heck of a question.

Zach Boyd:

Let's see.

Zach Boyd:

How does he do it?

Barack Gruber:

How does he do it?

Barack Gruber:

That's good.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

Hey, that's good.

Barack Gruber:

That's good.

Barack Gruber:

You know, it doesn't give.

Barack Gruber:

It doesn't give away, you know, the plot, you know.

Barack Gruber:

That's good.

Barack Gruber:

All right, fourth question.

Barack Gruber:

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Zach Boyd:

A steak.

Barack Gruber:

Steak.

Barack Gruber:

Just steak?

Zach Boyd:

Steak.

Barack Gruber:

All right, That's a good pick.

Barack Gruber:

How do you take your steak?

Zach Boyd:

Oh, man.

Zach Boyd:

Gotta go medium rare, man.

Barack Gruber:

Okay.

Barack Gruber:

All right.

Barack Gruber:

That's my.

Barack Gruber:

That's my pick.

Barack Gruber:

Because, look, here's the thing I get.

Barack Gruber:

There are people that don't want to eat their steak medium rare.

Barack Gruber:

They're afraid.

Barack Gruber:

Cooked enough.

Barack Gruber:

Whatever.

Barack Gruber:

Sure, you get it.

Barack Gruber:

Medium rare.

Barack Gruber:

That steak is still cooking on its way to your plate.

Barack Gruber:

Like, by the time you cut into it, it's.

Barack Gruber:

It's.

Barack Gruber:

It's almost medium, you know, Unless it's done right.

Zach Boyd:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Barack Gruber:

All right, question five.

Barack Gruber:

What is your least favorite candy and why?

Zach Boyd:

Least favorite candy?

Zach Boyd:

Mint.

Zach Boyd:

Anything.

Zach Boyd:

Anything like York's.

Zach Boyd:

You know that York.

Barack Gruber:

Peppermint Patty.

Zach Boyd:

Oh, God.

Zach Boyd:

What are we.

Zach Boyd:

Why are we mixing chocolate with men?

Zach Boyd:

What are we doing there?

Barack Gruber:

I will say.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, my.

Barack Gruber:

My son comes home from work sometimes with a box of Junior Mints, and it's like.

Barack Gruber:

It's like, why did we do this?

Barack Gruber:

I'm not a fan either.

Barack Gruber:

Mine is.

Barack Gruber:

Mine's black licorice, though.

Barack Gruber:

I can't.

Zach Boyd:

Black licorice?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

I can't tolerate black licorice.

Barack Gruber:

All right, question number six.

Barack Gruber:

What is one strange talent that you have that no one knows or that you.

Barack Gruber:

You'd be willing to tell people?

Zach Boyd:

Strange talents.

Zach Boyd:

So I can make a.

Zach Boyd:

I could.

Zach Boyd:

I could do stitches voice.

Barack Gruber:

Can you?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

Would you?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I can.

Barack Gruber:

All right, let's do it.

Zach Boyd:

Oh, Hannah means handle.

Zach Boyd:

Daddy just left behind for captain.

Barack Gruber:

That is very good.

Barack Gruber:

When you.

Barack Gruber:

When did you learn you could do that?

Zach Boyd:

Man, I was like, I don't know, like, 12 or something.

Zach Boyd:

I mean, I do that forever.

Barack Gruber:

That is.

Barack Gruber:

That is one of my favorite Disney movies is Lilo and Stitch.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah.

Barack Gruber:

In fact, when.

Barack Gruber:

When.

Barack Gruber:

When we've gone to Disney, one of my favorite things is eating at the.

Barack Gruber:

The place where they.

Barack Gruber:

Lilo and Stitch, the characters will come, and mostly because the breakfast is fantastic.

Barack Gruber:

But it's.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Barack Gruber:

You get to interact with the characters.

Barack Gruber:

That's really good.

Barack Gruber:

So.

Barack Gruber:

All right, Zach, final question.

Barack Gruber:

If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be?

Zach Boyd:

If I could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be?

Zach Boyd:

Let's see.

Zach Boyd:

All right, One would have been the late Chadwick Boseman.

Zach Boyd:

Loved everything about the guy.

Zach Boyd:

Originally from South Carolina.

Zach Boyd:

So shout out to him.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, show him.

Zach Boyd:

Love another one.

Zach Boyd:

Michael Jordan.

Zach Boyd:

Okay.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, I sit down with Michael Jordan.

Zach Boyd:

Kind of, you know, kind of really get into.

Zach Boyd:

So what he's got going on there.

Zach Boyd:

And this one is just.

Zach Boyd:

Just 90s kid in me on this one.

Zach Boyd:

But Topanga, you know, not obviously, for the one that played Topanga Lawrence.

Zach Boyd:

Gosh, Danielle.

Zach Boyd:

Danielle Fichelle, I think it was.

Zach Boyd:

Her name is.

Barack Gruber:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Zach Boyd:

Topanga.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Barack Gruber:

Look, I will not fault you for that.

Barack Gruber:

I can absolutely admit I did have a crush on Topanga as well.

Zach Boyd:

So who didn't?

Zach Boyd:

Honestly, those.

Barack Gruber:

That's.

Barack Gruber:

That's three good choices.

Barack Gruber:

First of all, I didn't understand why she was with Corey because he was a huge, like, just a he.

Barack Gruber:

First of all, you watch the show.

Barack Gruber:

He was a jerk.

Zach Boyd:

He was.

Barack Gruber:

He came across as a jerk all the time.

Zach Boyd:

He did.

Barack Gruber:

I never understood that.

Barack Gruber:

All right, well, Zach.

Barack Gruber:

Good answers to some really dumb questions.

Barack Gruber:

That's what that was.

Barack Gruber:

Zach, I want to thank you again for being on the show with us.

Barack Gruber:

And again, even.

Barack Gruber:

Even under the strict one day notice, you pretty much got on this, but we thought there'd be value in having you on after South Carolina beat Clemson and then was denied access to the playoffs.

Barack Gruber:

And ultimately, you know, Zach's not here to say it, but I think we both want to continue to see, famously, Garnet succeed.

Barack Gruber:

We want to see.

Barack Gruber:

Welcome to the Hometown Podcast.

Barack Gruber:

Welcome to Home Podcast.

Barack Gruber:

Just continue to succeed because it's really cool to see what you guys are doing.

Barack Gruber:

And, you know, I wish we had half of your guests.

Barack Gruber:

Maybe we can talk about that at some point.

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, no doubt.

Zach Boyd:

No, I mean, y'all keep it up, man, because y'all are at Comic Con and all these things, man.

Zach Boyd:

Like, y'all been.

Zach Boyd:

Y'all been doing your own thing.

Zach Boyd:

Like.

Zach Boyd:

Like, don't.

Zach Boyd:

Don't let me have all the spotlight, man.

Zach Boyd:

All about nothing.

Zach Boyd:

Podcast been really growing.

Zach Boyd:

So, yeah, we all doing your thing.

Barack Gruber:

And what's crazy is we got three Comic Cons we're going to this year.

Barack Gruber:

We're going to be in Wilmington.

Barack Gruber:

We're going to be in Wilmington in March.

Barack Gruber:

We're going to be back here in Columbia in August, and then in October, we're going to be out in Myrtle Beach.

Barack Gruber:

It's, it's, it's, it's a lot of work.

Barack Gruber:

We enjoyed doing it.

Barack Gruber:

And honestly, it's worth it.

Barack Gruber:

Like, sure.

Barack Gruber:

We still have a crap ton of content from Comic Con this year where we interviewed a bunch of the guests.

Barack Gruber:

Like, we got to interview Adrian Hugh from.

Barack Gruber:

He was in, he was in X Men or.

Barack Gruber:

No, he was in one of the X Men movies.

Barack Gruber:

But he was also the voice of Nightcrawler.

Barack Gruber:

Just.

Barack Gruber:

We got to interview the guy that's the voice of Matthew Watterson, who's the voice of Magneto.

Barack Gruber:

We got talk to.

Barack Gruber:

I, you know, last year, I got to sit down and hang out with Sean Astin for a couple minutes.

Barack Gruber:

Who is Sam Wise?

Zach Boyd:

Yeah, you hanging out with Sean Aston.

Zach Boyd:

That's badass, dude.

Zach Boyd:

Like, that's awesome.

Barack Gruber:

And then, and then this year, I got to shake hands with the guy that's the voice of optimus prime for 40 years.

Barack Gruber:

Like, it's, it's really cool.

Zach Boyd:

Did he do the voice?

Barack Gruber:

No, I cannot roll out.

Barack Gruber:

No.

Barack Gruber:

My voice doesn't do that.

Barack Gruber:

I don't think his voice does that anymore.

Barack Gruber:

He and he and James Earl Jo Jones are probably in the same, same realm as far as, like, Hanna Barbera or whoever it is that does the Transformers movies probably grabbed his voice and has now created basically the entire artificial voice environment.

Barack Gruber:

So James Earl Jones, his voice never has to be recorded again.

Barack Gruber:

There's a computer system that handles all of it.

Barack Gruber:

So.

Barack Gruber:

But yeah, no, kudos to you.

Barack Gruber:

Everybody.

Barack Gruber:

Checks.

Barack Gruber:

Make sure to check the show notes to follow Garnet, famously.

Barack Gruber:

Garnet on all of the social media.

Barack Gruber:

Barack Gruber:

Barack Gruber:

I really appreciate it.

Barack Gruber:

I'm only going to make you sit through these, these credits real quick, and then we'll be out of here.

Barack Gruber:

So thanks for Zach joining us this week.

Barack Gruber:

Please, anybody who's missing him in this last five minutes, just understand his wife is having twins.

Barack Gruber:

And I know that struggle because we had twins 10 years ago.

Barack Gruber:

And it, it gets better.

Barack Gruber:

It does get better, but Zach's in that period of time right now between, between the late pregnancy or moving from pregnancy into the birth.

Barack Gruber:

And it's extremely uncomfortable.

Barack Gruber:

So I totally get it.

Barack Gruber:

So we'll, we'll, we'll check in on Zach next week.

Barack Gruber:

But, yeah, all right, that's gonna do it.

Barack Gruber:

Thanks for doing it.
