Shownotes

Offer stacking might feel like momentum, but for many expert business owners, it's capping growth instead of creating it. In this episode, Tara breaks down why launching offer after offer confuses your customers, dilutes your authority, and produces revenue that never compounds and what to build instead: one Signature Pathway that becomes the flagship experience everything else is designed to lead people into.

In This Episode You'll Learn:

  • Why offer stacking feels productive but rarely produces real, compounding growth
  • The three ways constantly launching new offers quietly works against you: customer confusion, diluted authority, revenue that doesn't compound
  • What a "foot in the door" offer is actually for, and how that's different from stacking
  • Why you need one Signature Pathway before any of your other offers can make sense
  • What's coming next: the second system, Scalable Delivery

Tara Bryan:

Hey, everybody.

2

:

Welcome to season three of The

Scalable Expert Podcast, the show for

3

:

established expert business owners

who are maxed out on time and ready to

4

:

find the scalable impact of their work.

5

:

I'm your host, Tara Bryan, founder

of The Scalable Expert and creator

6

:

of the INFINITE SCALE™ Method.

7

:

If you've built a business around

your expertise but feel stuck

8

:

in the time for money trap, this

podcast is your path forward.

9

:

Each week, I'll share stories and

strategies and shifts to help you

10

:

step into a new scalable business

model by declaring your authority,

11

:

packaging your expert framework, and

streamlining your offers and systems

12

:

to ultimately become a scalable expert.

13

:

Because it's not about working

harder, it's about building smarter.

14

:

All you need is one signature

expert framework, and you can

15

:

deliver an infinite amount of ways

to be able to scale your business.

16

:

All right.

17

:

Let's get started.

18

:

Hey, everybody.

19

:

Welcome to today's episode.

20

:

I am thrilled that you're here.

21

:

Hey, we're gonna continue our series,

we're talking about the expert authority

22

:

system and sort of the last piece that

I wanna talk about for this system

23

:

itself is for my offer stackers.

24

:

I have been talking to

time sellers, right?

25

:

So you have been selling your time in

whatever it is that you're doing as an

26

:

expert business owner; services, projects,

different things like that, so you or your

27

:

team has been exchanging time for cash.

28

:

So this episode is really

gonna be for my offer stackers.

29

:

My offer stackers are

those folks who are…

30

:

who believe that in order to grow

and scale, you have to continuously

31

:

be launching more and more offers.

32

:

So, you don't have an offer problem,

it's not so much about how many offers

33

:

you can create because you could get

revenue from some of those offers, right?

34

:

You come up with something, some cool new

something or other, and you put it out

35

:

there and your customers buy it, and you

get a little bit of a cash infusion, um,

36

:

and then something else comes up, and you

create something else, and you get another

37

:

little cash infusion and, and etc.,

38

:

etc.,

39

:

etc.,

40

:

right?

41

:

So offer stacking tends to be like that,

where you're like, "Ooh, I have a new

42

:

idea," or, "Oh, there's something new

in the market," or, "This would be a

43

:

really great thing to, to give to my

customers," or blah, blah, blah, right?

44

:

Like, whatever you can dream up.

45

:

Typically what happens is you're trying

to come up with new and exciting things

46

:

to get cash infusion into your business,

which is a temporary solution, quite

47

:

honestly, for growing your business.

48

:

It's not actually exponentially

gonna grow your business, and so what

49

:

happens is a couple different things.

50

:

The first thing is, is your customers

start to get a little confused, right?

51

:

So they're like, "Okay, yeah, I wanna

buy that," or, "I wanna buy that," or, "I

52

:

wanna buy that," and they're kind of…

53

:

usually they're smaller ticket items.

54

:

And, um, and so either your customers

get tired because they keep buying lots

55

:

of different things, and some of them

are connected and some of them aren't.

56

:

And so while they probably think

they're great, what happens is they

57

:

get fatigued by buying all these

random things, and so eventually

58

:

they're not gonna continue buying each

of those offers that you're throwing

59

:

out there, or they're just gonna get

distracted by all the different things.

60

:

The second thing is, is that when you're

trying to establish authority in the

61

:

market and you're just putting out

whatever new offer you can think of 'cause

62

:

you love to create things, it does create

confusion in terms of what your expertise

63

:

is and what your authority is, and you

don't actually get to be known for the

64

:

actual methodology or the actual thing

that is your thing in your business.

65

:

And then third, quite honestly, it,

it's not actually gonna produce the

66

:

revenue that you want to produce, right?

67

:

You'll feel productive, and you'll feel

like you're getting, you know, some money

68

:

in to pay your bills or whatever it is

that you need to do, but quite honestly,

69

:

in most cases it's a distraction, right?

70

:

You get $1,000 here, $500 here, $200

here, maybe $5,000 here, but none

71

:

of it's compounding together, right?

72

:

It's, everything is requiring a new

launch or a new offer or whatever else.

73

:

And so you- you're just finding yourself

constantly chasing new things because

74

:

you're not getting the revenue in that

allows you to just grow your business in

75

:

a way that starts to have it compound.

76

:

So if you're in this offer stacker mode

and you're struggling because you're

77

:

just like, "I just, I don't know, I

don't have my thing yet," or, "I feel

78

:

like I constantly have to be feeding,

um, new offers out there," one of the,

79

:

the challenges I'll give you kind of in

changing your mindset is that, really,

80

:

once you can package your expertise into

a signature pathway, a signature kind of

81

:

experience, however you wanna call it,

that becomes your sort of flagship offer.

82

:

That becomes the offer

that doesn't change.

83

:

It is the one that you ultimately

want everyone to filter

84

:

into at the end of the day.

85

:

So that could be anything, like

whatever it is that you want to ha-

86

:

to create in terms of that experience.

87

:

I will tell you that in the Scalable

Expert Society, in the Scalable Expert

88

:

Mentorship, we spend a lot of time

defining what your signature pathway is

89

:

and that experience that you're creating

around it, so you're creating that

90

:

consistent customer journey, we talked

about that, in a different podcast, but

91

:

the goal is to create a consistent journey

that you can just continuously be putting

92

:

customers in that doesn't change, right?

93

:

So once you package your expertise into a

methodology and you create that journey,

94

:

then you can just put customers in, give

them an, an amazing experience, see that

95

:

they're getting consistent results-, that

is the foundational and core experience

96

:

that you wanna create in your business.

97

:

That is the foundation of your business.

98

:

Then what's gonna happen is, as you are

out in the market, there are a number of

99

:

things that you need to do to get people

to know, like, and trust you, right?

100

:

Like, we're in a huge trust recession

right now, which means that when you

101

:

show up there are probably multiple

ways that people want to consume what

102

:

you have to offer so that they start

to know, like, and trust you, right?

103

:

When they see you have a methodology,

when you have a couple of sort of

104

:

lower ticket offers that you have

out there, then the, the goal isn't

105

:

to just stack a bunch of offers.

106

:

The goal is to put something out

there that naturally brings your ideal

107

:

customer in to your signature experience.

108

:

So a lot of times there's sort of

like this, you know, it, there's

109

:

lots of different ways that people

call it, but basically like a

110

:

foot in the door offer, right?

111

:

So somebody comes in, they are, they wanna

just taste what you have to offer and then

112

:

they come into your signature experiences.

113

:

So a lot of times people will

equate it to, um, you know, you,

114

:

you get like a sample, right?

115

:

Like you get a, a food sample, or you

get a perfume sample or whatever, right?

116

:

People give you a sample so

you can try it, and then you're

117

:

like, "Ooh, I really like this."

118

:

And so then you buy the real thing.

119

:

That is the goal of everything

that you're creating to attract

120

:

your ideal customer, right?

121

:

And so any offers that you're creating

go with that, that whole theme of

122

:

you want to bring in and attract your

ideal customer who naturally would

123

:

go into your signature experience.

124

:

And so- all you're doing is creating

a bridge from them not knowing you to

125

:

going into your signature experience.

126

:

So that's the goal, it's to build trust.

127

:

It's not to build a bunch of

offers that may or may not pay

128

:

you some, some dollars, right?

129

:

Like, yes, there's lots of different

approaches for what that small- smaller

130

:

piece of revenue ends up being as you move

them into your signature offer, but, but

131

:

ideally, the goal is just to bridge that

trust from them being a stranger to them

132

:

coming into your signature experience.

133

:

But you've got to have

the signature experience.

134

:

So often, offer stackers have

all the offers, but there's no

135

:

signature experience that they're

trying to drive people into.

136

:

So that's the shift that I would

say from an offer perspective.

137

:

It's not just like, "Let's

just do one more offer.

138

:

Let's just do one more launch."

139

:

That's not actually building a, a

sustainable and scalable business for you.

140

:

You have to have that foundational

piece of where you're driving them

141

:

into, and once you can do that, then

all the offers then all make sense

142

:

because they're all going, they're all

leading to the one, signature experience.

143

:

When you can put it in your mind that

way, it stops being overwhelming,

144

:

and it starts to just be, again,

a stop on that prospect's journey.

145

:

So when you look at the, the customer

journey, you have the prospect,

146

:

they're coming in, they s-, they're

stopping in one … They're stopping

147

:

in, like, a pre-arrival stage, right?

148

:

You want them to have a little bit of

a taste, they have a little bit of an

149

:

experience and a sample of what you

have to offer, and then they leapfrog

150

:

into, "Yep, you … I trust that you

have the solution to the problem that

151

:

I have, and you are able to provide me

the best path, the, the most perfect

152

:

path to go from point A to point B."

153

:

That's it.

154

:

I mean, that's essentially the

whole business right there.

155

:

So you may have to create some, some

little, tasters and some samples in order

156

:

to make that, that, that part of the

journey happen, but that's where it fits.

157

:

It's not just like, "Well, I'm just

gonna keep doing all these random

158

:

things in order to hopefully get some

people in the door paying me money,

159

:

because if they pay me, then they may

buy something else in the future."

160

:

Which may or may not actually happen.

161

:

So when you do this work, that's really

where you're starting to shift your

162

:

attention in order to be scalable.

163

:

Because the, the scalable

component of your business

164

:

is your signature experience.

165

:

It's not how you're

bringing people in the door.

166

:

What that allows us to do then is to

then start focusing on that signature

167

:

experience and building Scalable Delivery.

168

:

Because as you continue to build out

this journey, and again, add in your

169

:

10, your 100, or your 1,000 customers,

the Scalable Delivery becomes the next

170

:

piece of the puzzle and the next system

that we need to have in our business

171

:

in order to continue to grow and scale.

172

:

So in the next podcast that we have,

we're gonna start diving into that second

173

:

system, which is Scalable Delivery.

174

:

All right, until next time.
