In this episode of Failing to Success, host Chad Kaleky interviews Drew Moon, the owner of Digital CLIQ, a full-service digital marketing agency. Moon recounts his entry into digital marketing after IT consulting by responding to a Craig's List ad from a local car dealership. From there, he became proficient in SEO, Google AdWords, and Facebook marketing.
Moon's first clients were also from Craig's List, where he cold-called and emailed 25-30 individuals before receiving a few yeses, including a car dealership that became a long-term client. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his automotive clients reduced their advertising budgets, forcing Moon to diversify his business into other verticals, such as e-commerce. His company's success in helping smaller companies put out products has allowed them to gain new clients.
Moon's story is a testament to how successful entrepreneurship requires persistence and cold-calling to generate new clients. It also highlights the need for diversification to remain successful, as the automotive industry is notoriously unpredictable. Through diversification, Moon's company has succeeded in new markets and found new clients.
