Change is a billion-dollar industry. Men worldwide want to change but too often their change is short-lived and doesn't stick. Why is that? Are we just doomed to failure as men? Should we stop trying? The truth is change is possible for us but we have to do some things to help make it stick. We have to have the right mindset and approach the reality of change the right way.
The Change Dream
- The danger of dreaming about change is it becomes something only in our minds
- We become the type of men who always imagine and talk about something without actually doing it
- The danger of dreaming change is it only lives in our minds and becomes a game of pretend
- We forget the reality of change and how hard it is
- If we really want to change, we have to move out of the dream mode to the discipline mode
- When thinking of personal change, we must approach it like a job and not like a fantasy
- Real change demands that we do something different
The Change Motivation
- Sometimes we start something only to see it isn't the right thing or we need to shift to a different thing
- This is often part of our journey of growth as men and that is ok
- Motivation flows from purpose
- Men without a true purpose often fill their life with busyness
- Our meaning as men flows from our purpose
- Men without a real purpose often spend all their time searching for meaning
- Men who have a purpose outside of themselves are men who have taken the blinders off and see the people around them
- A man of purpose can serve others
The Change Action
- Real change does not come without one thing...Action
- Action is what makes our desire for change a reality
- We have to be honest with ourselves about the action we are taking to bring change into our lives
- Here are a few common hindrances to change in many men's lives:
- The Overload of Wishes
- The Lack of a Team
- Failure of Planning
- The Reality of War
