In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing an Academy of Choice graduate, Patrick Jinks, about his brand of leadership coaching. Patrick worked in the non-profit world for over two decades before parlaying his success into coaching other not-for-profits leaders. He has an impressive resumé, including a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, board-certification as an executive leadership coach, being recently recognized globally as one of the 10 Most Influential People in Leadership Coaching for 2022 by CIO Views Magazine, serving as a guest writer for Forbes.com, a multi-best-selling author and recognition as a two-time award winner through the Association for Talent Development. We talked about the process of coaching with a non-profit and leadership frame, rather than a corporate and business frame. Patrick says, "Coaching is coaching." The process doesn't really change, even though the environment may be different. Patrick shared his company's definition of leadership and his fidelity to the coaching process, rather than crossing over into the consulting arena. He dropped many pearls of wisdom, and this topped the list for me: "Every aspect of leadership, if it's done effectively, is through the lens of relationship." Finally, Patrick talks about the importance of coaches having a coach themselves. Check out this interview with an impressive leadership coach.
