And I like to think about Mark 9:33 When Jesus, he's asking the disciples what they were discussing along the road. And now Jesus, he already knew, of course, because he's God.

You have a decision in front of you and you're wondering how do I hear God's voice? You want to make this decision with God?

A couple months ago I needed to make a big decision. Similarly, last fall I felt God speaking to me about building and investing in a website for the podcast.

This was a big and an important decision for me and I wanted to make sure that this truly was where God was leading me. I wanted to invite God into the process instead of just making the decision on my own.

As I reflected on a question I recently received about hearing God's voice when making Decisions. I realized that I'm not alone in this.

So many of us, we're struggling with this when it comes to making decisions both big and small, especially when we genuinely want to invite God in in the process. Maybe that's you right now. It's a career decision.

Maybe it's something with your family, your future, your purpose, or a next step that God may be calling you to. You want to follow God's will, but sometimes you're sitting there, you're wondering, how do I actually hear from Him?

Today, I want to walk you through a few simple things that can help you hear from God when it comes to decisions in your life. So the first thing when it comes to hearing from God in a big decision is creating space in your day for Him.

If we're constantly surrounded by the noise, distractions, we're scrolling, we're multitasking, and we're rushing from one thing to the next, it can be hard to hear God's voice clearly. So find a quiet place, a time in your day with fewer distractions so you can truly be present with Him. And this can look different for everyone.

It may be early in the morning before your children wake up, like mine. It may be during an nap time. If your children are still young at home, this can be in your car, during your lunch break.

You could go out to your vehicle and you can sit. I used to do that. Or at night, after everyone goes to bed.

Sometimes my day gets off to a rough start and that's where I have to be sometimes, where it's, you know, at night. But the most important thing is you intentionally are creating space for God to speak.

Because when we are making a decision with God, we are not just asking him for an answer. We are entering into a relationship and, and in a conversation with Him.

Now the next thing you want to do is preparing your heart and mind before entering into prayer. There's just so much noise that's competing for attention every single day.

Outside distractions, social media, our schedules, even our own thoughts, all of it can make it difficult to quiet ourselves even enough to hear God's voice. Sometimes we can even get in our own way of hearing from God. Before prayer.

I invite you to try to slow yourself down and create a peaceful environment in the mornings or this can be evenings. And I personally, I love to turn on my flameless pink candles.

It just creates a calming and it's a peaceful environment that helps me focus and prepare my heart and mind before I'm entering into prayer. And this can also be taking A few deep breaths just before beginning prayer and simply quieting the outside noise before your meeting with God.

Because when we are making decisions with God, we want to come before him, present, open and ready to listen and remember. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. That is Deuteronomy 31:8.

God, he already sees what's ahead. He knows the future, and he desires to guide you.

Now, when you enter into prayer with God, you want to be honest with him about what is going on in your heart. Tell him what you seek. Sometimes I think we hold back from God and we think, I don't know if I should want this. I don't know if this is God's will.

I'll just keep this to myself. I don't want to say this out loud or I don't want to tell him this, but I want to remind you, throughout Scripture we see Jesus.

He's inviting people to open their hearts honestly before him. And I like to think about Mark 9:33, When Jesus, he's asking the disciples what they were discussing along the road.

And now Jesus, he already knew, of course, because he's God, but He still invited them into the conversation. And I think sometimes Jesus is asking us too, what is on your heart? What are you seeking? So have you shared your desires with Him?

Have you brought this decision before him honestly? Those are some things that you can reflect on.

You can do this quietly in your mind or out loud in a prayer, or even writing it down in a journal or notebook. So you want to open your heart honestly to Jesus, and you want to share with him the decision that you're trying to make.

Your fears, your desires, and what you are discerning.

And if you'd like, help with this, episode number seven, it's a guided prayer episode where I walk you through bringing this before Jesus of what you seek. So that's a resource I have for you.

And then the last thing that I want to talk about today is hearing from God, is allowing silence for him to speak.

That is very important because when you spend time with God, whether it's during Scripture, you're reading, prayer, journaling, or just simply sitting quiet with him. You are creating space for him to speak into your life.

Now, sometimes this can simply look like just sitting outside with no phone, no distractions, no noise, just you, God in nature.

Now for me, sometimes after my morning journal prayer time, I feel God gently placing on my heart, not to rush away from him, but to Remain with Him a little longer in his silence and you may feel that as well. And that is okay. Let God lead you in what he is wanting. If he wants you, stay a little longer with you. There is a reason for that.

So allow that to be. Don't rush that time with Him.

ly and Jesus tells us in John:

He gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us and counsel us. So we want to invite the Holy Spirit into your discernment and your decision making. Ask Him, Help me to hear the Father's voice.

remember Jesus words in John:

So God is with you in this decision.

And sometimes hearing from him looks like creating space in your day for him, quieting the noise around you, preparing your heart before prayer, spending time in Scripture and allowing silence for him to speak. If you're sitting in a place right now where you just feel unsure of what God is asking of you next, you don't have to discern this alone.

Inside my discernment coaching sessions, we'll walk through a simple faith rooted process to help you discern your next step with God. You can learn more or break your [email protected]/coaching and the link is also in the episode description as well.

So to recap on the three things that you can start implementing is create intentional space in your day to hear from God, bring your desires and your decisions honestly before Jesus in prayer and quiet the noise and allow the space for Scripture and silence and the Holy Spirit to guide you. All right, let's take this to prayer.

Before I leave you with an actionable step for this week, let us pray in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Jesus, thank you for always being with us in the middle of our questions, our decisions and our uncertainty.

Help us to open our hearts honestly before you and trust that you are guiding our steps. Holy Spirit, help us to hear our Father's voice more clearly and give us the wisdom as we discern the decisions before us.

We surrender our plans, our fears and our decisions into your hands in Jesus name. Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen all right, so as you're listening today's episode, which one of these can you begin implementing in your prayer with God? Is it creating more space in your day for Him? Is it quieting the noise before prayer, opening your heart honestly to Jesus?

Or is it allowing more silence in your day to simply just to sit with Him? And I'd love for you to come share inside the Facebook community Finding youg Purpose, Discernment and Strategy for Catholic Moms.

Which one are you going to begin implementing today so we can support you and encourage you on your journey? And remember, my beautiful sister in Christ, that God uniquely created you for a unique purpose. You were made to do great things.

God is within you and you will not fail. I look forward to continuing this journey with you. I'll meet you next Tuesday for another conversation.

Until then, may God bless you and give you peace. I hope you enjoyed today's episode.
