shipping experience and then you know everything else is

like kind of ancillary to that so with all of your experience

that realm of fillment supply chain and kind of enabling

in a certain way so you've seen a lot of changes over the years what

would you say are like maybe some of the biggest changes that i've had and

recently and how the fulfillment industry has changed with all the supply chain craziness over

the past two years have been nuts but

yes so one big chain that just happened in april of this year and we

chowdhary]:

are yet to

feel the impact of that but i predict that that is

going to be a massive change

it is a calf call call to action for a lot of folks which is

the launch of amazons by with prime program if

you're familiar essentially amazon over the last eighteen twenty year

it has built his massive network of and created the amazon prime loyalty program which

most successful loyalty program and and why that's driving tons of value for amazon

and just about everyone and i can almost bet twenty bucks that all three of

us are amazon prime members if i'm wrong

so so but what's what's happened

and just to give a little bit background amazon spent thirty five

billion something close to that basically in twenty twenty and twenty twenty one right after

chowdhary]:

the pandemic i mean they essentially went on overdrive and they

spent more in those two years

than they had spent in the previous eighteen years on logistics and infrastructure and they

chowdhary]:

went and built

five hundred seventeen new facilities in those two years some i think hundred and seventy

six million square feet they added

you know this was part of a larger program plan but i think russell looks

out and essentially you know this was all part of amazon converting their

retailer that does not believe in free and fast shipping or delivery for the customer

is probably ignoring the reality that's staring at

them so that's one of the big

no that's a that's a great point i can't i don't know the amount of

time that we received received emails from customers like well amazon does it er okay

we're not amazon but now amazon is making it so that we

we kind of can be in certain ways and there's definitely i've seen that expectation

from consumers

it's really interesting about it so you are focused in the three p industry how

does this affect other three p s that are in the space and seeing he

if amazon is now giving people this opportunity to you call like fashion free delivery

that already have their own warehouse and are doing self fulfilment or using other three

is being passed on to the brand to the retailer and the dichotomy is on

to have that status so um i think kind of from what you saying is

that this is a benefit and a win for the brand because you're driving down

you have a ton of warehouses across the country and i'm assuming that will reduce

the delivery times that we're seeing so we're able to now compete with the amazon

customer and get fast delivery times and all that the hard part it is managing

the inventory and those different locations you might have an east coast west coast central

[emerson]:

fulfillment center that you're working with but having the inventory in the right place at

[emerson]:

the right time you might be forecasting hey sixty percent of our sales are on

[emerson]:

the east coast let's put sixty percent of our inventory there but then there's one

[emerson]:

widget that's out of stock on the east coast they have the ship from the

[emerson]:

from the central wherever some different location and now you're having two paws i just

[emerson]:

getting shipped to a customer instead of you had one central location you could maybe

[emerson]:

optimize your inventory a bit better in that case when do you see i guess

[emerson]:

how do you avoid that or what's the tools or how to use how do

[emerson]:

you help brands may mitigate or understand where to have product placement in different warehouses

[emerson]:

and are doing multi channel fulfilment

so it's a really good point emerson and it's it's one of the hardest problems

in supply chain is how do you balance cost of distribution

while maintaining a certain service

even behind the scenes even in the amazon with amazon has i think hundred twenty
