When you’re painting, it’s really tempting to try to make everything cover in one coat. But it’s just not a good plan. I’m Dan Hansen and this is a Minute at RepcoLite.

I’ve got 5 reasons why 2 coats is just the right way to go. We’ve covered the first three already. But quickly I’ll recap: 1) The first coat might not actually look as good as you think when you see it later; 2) A second coat always holds up better; and 3) It’s more convenient to do that second coat now.

The fourth reason is similar: second coats are WAY faster. With second coats, you’re not doing all the cut in again, you’re not doing the prep . . . you’re just rolling paint onto your walls and that can move very quickly.

Finally, planning on a second coat from the beginning means you’re more likely to apply the paint evenly and correctly on that first coat. Usually when people think they might get by with only one coat, they really lay the paint on thick. This causes all kinds of problems. Instead, plan on a second coat right from the beginning and you’ll find you’re applying each coat correctly. I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a minute at RepcoLite.
