Welcome Mark Bego

We’re joined on the Starline by the author of 68 books on Rock & Roll and show business. Author of multiple New York Times best-sellers. His investigative piece covers Joe Cocker in “Joe Cocker: with a Lot of Help from His Friends.” We welcome Mark Bego.

Mark, let’s go Beyond the Mic. Joe was a stubborn man, several times in your book you refer to times where his passion for music was his way or no way. How surprised with all the times that he said no to things that he made it in the music industry?

What was the one fact in your research that shocked you the most about Joe?

When your debut novel was given praise from Cindy Adams in the New York Post years ago, did you think you would be on the way to writing several screenplays and nearly 70 books?

Once you were on the outs with Joe, you were almost never let back in. How ironic that his most famous song was about help from his friends?

The Rockin' 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. What’s the one of your 68 books didn’t get the love you thought it should have?

2. Who is the one person you want to write a book about but haven’t yet?

3. Film rights to the book have been sold, who should play Joe Cocker in the movie?

4. Favorite recipe from “Eat Like a Rock Star” book?

5. Best place to vacation?

6. Last song you remember hearing?

7. 1ST concert you ever attended?

8. Have you ever visited the ghost town of Jerome, Arizona?

Sneaking in One More:

What’s the common thread from all the stars of all your books, is there one?

So what’s your thread?

I knew Joe’s story and yet there were several times where I would go, Joe… nooo, again.

One Big Question:

What’s the best thing about your late good friend Mary Wilson?

The Wrap:

He fell in love with Joni Mitchell, loves the South of France and you will enjoy his Lebanese chicken. His book is “Joe Cocker: with a Lot of Help from His Friends.” Mark Bego thanks for taking the time to talk with us today.

And that my friends is a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.
