Your podcast growth might be stalled for a simple reason you have not looked at in months. Small changes to your podcast name, episode titles, and description can make a massive difference in discoverability and downloads.
Let's break this down - when and why to update your podcast name, how often to review episode titles, and what time frames actually matter if you want your show to be found by the right people. You will hear a realistic approach to testing keywords, tracking performance, and making changes without overthinking or burning everything down.
If your podcast feels steady but not growing, this is your reminder that visibility is not about doing more. It is about making what you already have easier to find and easier to say yes to.

Hello there, beautiful souls.
Speaker A:It is Kim Parkinson, and this is podcasting for your spiritual business.
Speaker A:Yes, you may have noticed that the name changed and I've been playing around with the name for a little bit.
Speaker A:So normally we have been podcasting for spiritual women, and we still are, but it is specifically for your spiritual business.
Speaker A:So I'm so happy to finally kind of land on something.
Speaker A:I've tried a couple of names since we have been starting this, and after six months, Yes, I have been podcasting now for six months.
Speaker A:I think that I am pretty happy with this name for right now.
Speaker A:And I wanted to kind of COVID this because this is something short and sweet that will kind of piggyback off of Felicia's coaching episode last week.
Speaker A:And that is the changing of the name, the description, and the titles.
Speaker A:Now, my rule of thumb for this right now is the to change Those out every 30, 60, 90 days if you think they're not moving the needle.
Speaker A:And I have different times for different pieces.
Speaker A:So after 30 days, if a title of an episode is not getting more downloads, and you find after 60 days, that is not getting any downloads whatsoever, change your title, go ahead, go right in there and change it up.
Speaker A:Anybody that has already listened to it isn't going to notice the difference.
Speaker A:And anybody that hasn't listened to it will find it, hopefully.
Speaker A:So go ahead in and take a look at the last 30 days, 60 days, and kind of keep an idea of how that podcast is moving and whether or not you need to update the title to something more keyword rich.
Speaker A:Now, the title of your podcast itself, I like to review every 90 days.
Speaker A:Now, I think I want to say I changed it initially, maybe after just 30 days, but then I left it and I changed it again 60 days after that, and then I left it for three months, and I have now updated it.
Speaker A:So this is, I think, the third or fourth name.
Speaker A:Although I have left the COVID art and I may still leave the COVID art the way it is for right now, I really do believe that my cover art is beautiful and it really does showcase that I help women, even though the keywords spiritual business are actually more honed in on what people are searching for.
Speaker A:I think that the COVID art and the title are close enough that people will understand that it's the same podcast.
Speaker A:If I find that that's not true, then after another 90 days, I may change the art.
Speaker A:But I don't go ahead and change that one too often because that's a lot of extra work that you may not need.
Speaker A:If you have not reviewed your title or say you have not even looked at your actual podcast name in a while.
Speaker A:I highly suggest that you start a keyword bank and just update that every 30 days.
Speaker A:60 days, 90 days.
Speaker A:Definitely every 90 days is very important here.
Speaker A:Now another bit of this is also to make sure that you're looking at your description and keeping that up to date with your keywords as well.
Speaker A:We did not talk about that in Felicia's episode, but we have talked about your podcast description before.
Speaker A:In episode 21 we went over how to write a podcast description that grows your audience and I highly recommend that you go back to that one.
Speaker A:I also wanted to talk to you about something that I am excited to be Starting in January, I am going to be doing a monthly activation.
Speaker A:This activation will start off every month with some tips that you should get started on for your podcast.
Speaker A:So that would be Monday through Friday of the first week.
Speaker A:That will get you right in to just ideas on some things that you could tweak or change or do.
Speaker A:And every month it's going to be something different.
Speaker A:During the month there'll also be open office hours and there'll be some times where there'll be accountability as well as either group coaching or some type of a masterclass that will go along with that particular theme.
Speaker A:Once a quarter we're going to be doing a networking event where you can share your podcast, try to find some guests and or get some podcast reviews.
