David:

Neville writes about imagination, manifestation. He talks about acting as if the wish is already fulfilled. And he's really the pioneer of describing the fourth dimension. He says that everything we experience in our third dimensional reality starts out in this imaginative realm called the fourth dimension. And we activate that reality and manifest it into our third dimensional space when we assume those things that we desire are already complete. When we're essentially living in non resistance welcome to a Changed Mind. A journey into the topics that matter to you most. From the neuroscience and spirituality of mindset and personal growth to groundbreaking strategies for health, wealth and relationships to open and honest conversations about pressing global issues such as the environment, censorship, corporate capture and democracy. Each and every episode reminds us of the certainty of the goodness of the future and provides the teachings, tools and timeless wisdom inspiring you to create real, lasting change in your life and in the world. If you've been desiring a sanctuary for your spirit, a place to go to tune out the distraction, negativity and doom and gloom so that you can tap into the deep power, the vibrancy, and the potential you have inside, you're in the right place. Welcome to a Changed Mind.

The person you are right now came to be as a result of your current thinking but what if a single book could introduce you to the future version of yourself that you're destined to become. In this episode, I'm going to summarize the 18 books that have had a tremendous impact on me, helping me go from someone who was purposeless, alone, and frankly broke to creating a highly successful business, a family that I love, and a life and a home that I only once dreamed of. By the way, my name is David Baer. I'm a bestselling author, speaker, and CEO of one of the fastest growing coaching and consulting companies in America. I work with high performers and entrepreneurs to help them transform their lives by changing their minds. Book number one is a book called The Power of Decision by Raymond Charles Barker. And Reverend Barker presents the idea that the act of decision is actually what determines everything that happens in our life. And he's not talking about our decisions to do things like tasks or goals. He's talking about our perception, our decisions about things. He says, if you've decided that money is hard to make, then that will become your reality. If you decided you're not good enough, then you will materialize a life that will reflect that back to you. If you've decided that there's not enough time, you'll constantly feel stressed and overwhelmed. This book really helped me take everything that I was learning in personal growth and self-help and integrate it into a way of being. I started looking at the decisions that I was making about myself, about my life, about money, about my business, and anywhere that there wasn't alignment, I made a new decision. And that was probably the biggest catalyst for the radical transformation that I've experienced over the last decade. The second book is a book that I found more recently. It's called The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Goble Shin. She's got four great books. This is the one that I recommend you start with. They're all on Amazon. You can listen to them on audio for free. And it is literally a metaphysical masterpiece. So Florence Goble Shin talks about the laws that govern our reality. And she uses a simple framework that has three pieces. Number one, the language that you use, meaning the spoken word. Number two, having faith that life is always working for your greatest growth, your greatest prosperity, and your greatest evolution. And And number three, making sure that you're operating in alignment, alignment with your desires and alignment with who you know yourself to be, never making a compromise. She says, when you do these three things, you harness a focused energy and a power that can create anything and transform or dissolve any problem.

Book number three, Sermon on the Mount by Emmett Fox. This is a really beautiful book where Dr. Emmett Fox interprets Jesus's Sermon on the Mount as a metaphysical guide to transformation. He explains that the Beatitudes are not moral commands, but actually encouragements to live according to spiritual law. Concepts like forgiveness and forgiving ourselves, forgiving others.

Concepts like a relationship with your higher power, whatever that definition is. The book reframes traditional Christian teachings into really powerful instructions for living a conscious, abundant, and spiritually awakened life. Number four, and I know a lot of people are going to prefer The Untethered Soul, I'm going with The Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer, his second book. In this book, Michael Singer shares his journey of letting go of personal preference and fully surrendering to life as it unfolds. It's really the story of a hippie spiritual dude that creates a billion-dollar company through the act of surrender, through recognizing that everything that showed up in the chaotic journey of his life was there for a reason and staying calm and rooted in inner peace throughout. This book was a game changer for me because while I had practiced surrender through my 12-step work, it took me even deeper into being non-reactive to the experiences in my life and allowing my problems to automatically transform into solutions. Number five is A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. Now, Eckhart had his seminal book, The Power of Now, but a new earth really took it to the next level and expanded on the themes of ego and living in the now, explaining how all of the problems that we see in the world are a result of one thing and one thing only, and that is unprocessed trauma. He talks about how the mind is the root of all conflict, whether it's environmental, political, financial, not only in our own lives, but at a collective level. And he says, we're entering a time of awakening whereas more and more people do the individual transformational work, we're going to see a new earth or the old systems dissolve and new systems evolve. The book is a guide for awakening both personally and globally.

Number six, Kingdom Principles by Miles Monroe. So in this book, Dr. Miles Monroe takes Christian doctrine and translates it into laws for living today. He says we actually live in a kingdom of God. We don't live in a system of government and that regardless of what type of external pressures or impositions are put upon us, when you actually align with the laws of the kingdom, as he describes through Christian doctrine, in that he draws from biblical wisdom, he explains that through purpose, authority, and faith, anything is possible. The book calls readers to reclaim their personal sovereignty through a relationship with these spiritual principles rather than feeling like you're a victim of your external circumstances. Number seven, shout out number two for Eckhart Tolle, it is the power of now. And this is the spiritual classic that helped us all understand something we'd experienced but had no language for, which was the ego. Eckhart described this inner critic or this voice in our head and talked about how our identification with thought and time creates suffering and offered practical tools for accessing what he called the eternal now or being present. And by identifying, disidentifying from the mind and observing it, this is how you can experience peace, presence, and profound transformation. Book number eight was the first book I ever stumbled upon. Literally walking through a bookstore, it was there on the floor. I picked it up and it changed my life. Number one best-selling success and wealth book in the history of the world, unless you think the Bible is, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. And Napoleon was encouraged by Andrew Carnegie to go out and conduct interviews with the most successful men of the early 20th century. And he distilled what he learned down into 13 timeless principles like desire, faith, auto-suggestion, and persistence. But more than a book on wealth, it's a framework for understanding the concept of law of attraction. His central doctrine was that he discovered that thoughts were things and we actually do create our own reality. Number nine, jumping over to some Eastern teachings, is Awakening the Buddha Within by Lama Surya Das. I was at a point of confusion in my life, and when you ask, you receive. I was at a bookstore. If you've ever had an experience where a book decides it's going to have a relationship with you, this is one of those moments for me. I grabbed the book, and it changed my life. In this book, Lama Surya Das explains the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism and the Eightfold Path of Virtue, concepts like right perception, right thinking. but he combines it with Western practicality and psychology. And he talks about how there's nothing that we need to get outside of ourselves. It's by removing the resistance and aligning ourselves with Buddhist principles that we awaken the Buddha nature that already exists within each of us. Book number 10 is just a fun read and super powerful. And it's The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. It's a beautiful story that follows this character Santiago that wants to go on this big adventure to really find himself. And along the way he does, but what he realizes is the journey was the joy and he finally finds his treasure at the same place where he started, which is when he gets back home. And it was just such a great universal story about destiny, transformation, the hero's journey and listening to that whisper of the soul. Book number 11 is a gigantic book called the Neville Goddard Collection because it is a collection of all of the great mystical teacher Neville Goddard's writings and lectures. Neville writes about imagination, manifestation. He talks about acting as if the wish is already fulfilled, and he's really the pioneer of describing the fourth dimension. He says that everything we experience in our third dimensional reality starts out in this imaginative realm called the fourth dimension, and we activate that reality and manifest it into our third dimensional space when we assume those things that we desire are already complete, when we're essentially living in non-resistance. Book number 12 is Autobiography of a Yogi by a guru named Paramahansa Yogananda. They say that anybody who finds themselves reading the book was a student of Yogananda in a past life. I believe that to be true. This is one of the most impactful books that I've ever read. It brought me into even deeper devotion with what I would describe as God through seeing Yogananda's devotion to God. It's his own autobiography where he shares his path from childhood in India to becoming one of the first teachers of mystical wisdom in the West. It's filled with miracles, gurus, and extraordinary experiences in addition to fundamental principles of how reality functions. I highly recommend this book for anyone who feels called to read it. Number 13 is a book that healed my life, and it's called You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. I found this book when I was struggling with a lot of chronic disease and long-term physical dysfunction, and Louise teaches that all dis-ease originates from emotional and psychological trauma, limiting beliefs and unresolved emotions, and with loving affirmation and practical exercises, she teaches you how to rewire the subconscious mind so that you can heal. In the back of the book, there's actually a map where you can identify whatever disease or dysfunction or illness that you're experiencing. And she has mapped it to the psychological emotional route to give you a map to actually work on it. Number 14 is Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. Classic book in the behavioral psychology space. Really interesting. It was a plactic surgeon who started seeing how when people's self-image change, they changed. And what he realized was that rather than having to actually perform plastic surgery on someone, they could change their own lives by changing their inner perception of themselves. And so Maltz introduces the concept of the servomechanism. What he's basically saying is the brain is a goal-achieving machine, and you'll create a reality based on your perceptions. Change your perceptions, and your reality must change.

Book 15 is called Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping. And I don't think I would be in the relationship that I'm in with my wife or have the relationship I have with my wife without this book. Colin introduces a spiritual technology for releasing pain and victimhood by seeing life as a mirror. And he says, hey, in your relationships, people are going to reflect back to you whatever is inside of you that's not healed. And so you must understand that you're in a soul contract with this person. So have forgiveness for them and take responsibility for yourself. He talks about it's not about condoning harmful actions that were done to you, but no longer living in that loop, no longer materializing it over and over and over in each future relationship by forgiving the past and taking responsibility for yourself in the present moment and the future. Book 16 is You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero. I mean, this book's probably been around for 15 years now, but it was right in the beginning of my journey. Funny book, literally made me laugh out loud. Great energy from Jen Sincero in the book, and she brings streetwise spirituality, a bold humor, and encourages readers to really drop self-doubt, claim their self-worth, and start living a life they actually want. She blends mindset, manifestation, and money. And so if that's something that is present for you in your life right now, I highly recommend reading that book. It's still a bestseller. Number 17, and this list would not be complete without this book, at least from my experience, is the Bible. Now, I didn't grow up with the Bible. I didn't grow up in a religious family, but I discovered the Bible as I started getting into metaphysics and spiritual principles, I thought, well, let me just go see what Jesus said. And what I realized is that Jesus's teachings were laws for understanding ourselves, reality, and the relationship that we have with our higher power. He talks about concepts like forgiveness and understanding that we will always be provided for. If you truly read between the lines, he's talking about having desires, but living in non-resistance and that we are not responsible for creating everything in our life, but there is an intelligence far greater than us that is orchestrating everything. And when we truly have faith and learn to live within that trust, we can have a powerful living experience. And the last book is actually my own. If you haven't read it yet, it's called A Changed Mind. Go beyond self-awareness, rewire your brain and re-engineer your reality. And it is a transformational guide that explains how to shift from survival-based thinking to living in a powerful state. And it offers simple frameworks at the intersection of science, psychology, and spirituality. It teaches you not only how to overcome your own personal suffering, but how to leverage the laws of reality to create powerfully in any area of your life. And if that's something you're interested in reading more, you can check the link in the description, head on over to Amazon, pick up a copy or an extra for a friend. And I just want to tell you, thank you for being here with me today. I hope you enjoyed my top 18 list as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you. And I will see you in the next episode.
