Dr. Gary Epler – I’ve developed 10 principles for optimal health and enduring joy.

Joan – What inspired your new philosophy?

Eplerian Life is about being your true self, thinking from your heart with kindness and using the mind to help people, while quieting harmful egocentric thoughts and behaviors from the primitive brain.

Let’s get started. What are the first two principles of the Eplerian Life?

The first two principles are interconnected. The first, “Always be your true authentic self” and the second, “Move beyond egocentric primitive brain thinking.” Be your true self. Slow down the brainwaves. Be yourself. Live in the mind with kindness and unconditional giving from your heart. Live in the mind, which is the universe outside the brain containing all information, with creativity to help people, innovation, and enduring joy. Living in the mind at a lower brainwave frequency eliminates harmful thinking from the egocentric primitive brain.

What’s the next principle?

The third principle is “Be kind to yourself and accept who you are.” Be your true authentic self is to think from your heart with kindness to yourself. Instead of blaming yourself for life’s setbacks with self-pity and harmful thoughts about yourself, use self-compassion. Be kind to yourself and love yourself. Accept yourself, flaws and all, and simultaneously continue to strive for personal growth.

Forgive yourself and be kind to yourself. What’s the next Eplerian Life principle?

The fourth principle is “Engage in life with vitality and enthusiasm.” Be engaged in life at all moments with high energy and joy. Always know what you’re doing and where you’re going. Leave the phone out of sight when talking with your family, friends, coworkers, and the public. Leave the phone in the locker.

What are the 5th and 6th principles?

“Accept responsibility” and “Make instant decisions.” Responsibility means unwavering commitment at home and at work, overcoming obstacles, and never quitting. This is commitment to yourself. It means saying no if you don’t have the skills, resources, or interest. When decisions are needed at home, at work, or in public, make them instantly because bad situations can develop during the delay. Say ‘no’ instantly because this will result in action moving forward for more information, modifications, or to something else.

What are the next three Eplerian Life principles?

“Give beyond yourself”, “Learn something new every day,” and “Positive social interaction.” Share your time, strength, and resources. Volunteer your help expecting nothing in return. Experience curiosity and adaptability by learning something new through reading, observing, and doing. Positive communication at home, work, and in the community means both individuals feel better after the interaction with no one-ups, no put-downs, and no destructive comments.

What’s the last principle?

“Optimal health with one hour of daily exercise, eight hours of sleep every night, and a healthy nutrition lifestyle.” One hour of exercise will provide energy for the entire day. Mix it up with walking, running, elliptical, or swimming; weights for all muscle groups; yoga stretches; and group classes. Prioritize eight hours of sleep with six hours to recharge the brain energy and two hours of dream sleep to optimize the prefrontal brain for creativity to help others and social judgement. A healthy nutrition lifestyle is eating the right foods in the right amount at the right time prepared in a healthy manner. The right foods include no added sugar, no added salt, and no processed foods.

How do these principles lead to a happy, healthy life?

It’s based on a new science called quantum biology.

Sounds complicated. What does quantum biology have to do with Eplerian principles?

The principles are based on quantum biology. The first is superposition which means you can think from four locations at the same time from the heart with kindness, the gut with risk management, the body with strength, and the mind with creativity to help people; and excludes thinking from the harmful ego-centered brain. Second is entanglement meaning that you can connect and access the mind from the prefrontal cortex brain. Third, quantum tunneling enables people at a distant from you to experience kindness from your heart.

Joan – These 10 principles are based in science and can transform your life.

Dr. Gary Epler – Be your true self for optimal health and enduring joy. Think from your heart with kindness and from the mind with creativity.
