Shownotes
Dr. Marilou Ryder and Jessica Thompson are sisters who have combined research and personal stories to develop their Sister to Sister series of books. In this episode I spoke with them about what motivated them to become advocates for women and girls and to find this as their purpose in this stage of their lives.
They feel like they are changing the conversation for women and girls by sharing insights and tips to gain confidence and look forward. Writing the books was a gift to themselves as well as to others, because they were books they would have wanted to have when they needed them.
Their first book, Don't Forget Your Sweater, Girls" was born out of their own fears around aging. Some tips they share with us include:
- Don't dress like an old lady
- Get off the computer and TV
- Get out and meet people
- You are not alone
- It is ok to fail, but don't fail to try
