Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Hello, everyone, everywhere.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Pastor Bob Thibodeau here.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Welcome to the Faith Based business podcast for today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We're so blessed that you're joining us.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

We've been talking all week about storytelling, actually past couple weeks about storytelling.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And today I want to talk about overcoming resistance through storytelling.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Basically breaking down barriers in your audience.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And we all have been there, especially reviewing a live presentation.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You gotta be able to relate to them.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

It's even harder when you're doing online like I am right now, because you don't see the facial reactions.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You don't see if you're losing people, they're checking their smartphones and all that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You see that from the stage when you're giving a live presentation.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But on here, you got to do it by faith.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Praise God.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Let's go ahead and share this screen and get started here today.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Hallelujah.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And right there.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

All right, now, you know, storytelling, as I said, it's a powerful way to overcome doubts and objections in your audience.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And by addressing concerns head on, you build empathy.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Through shared experiences, you can break down resistance, you can create trust.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Just relatable narratives and solutions that inspire confidence and that'll pave the way for deeper engagement and lasting connections that are are rooted in faith and in purpose.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now you have to use storytelling to anticipate and to address your audience's concerns.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Share relatable examples of challenges that you have faced and that you have overcome.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And by showing that you understand their doubts and offer them a clear path forward, you'll build their trust, you'll reduce any resistance and your faith driven message will begin to resonate.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now you have to use empathy, though, through shared experiences, because empathy bridges gaps.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

By sharing stories that reflect your audience's experiences, you demonstrate to them that you understand and you start to build that connection.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And when people see themselves in your narrative, they feel valued, they feel heard, and that makes them more open to engaging with your message.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Because stories are powerful solution problem solvers, they offer solutions.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Share how others in similar situations may have overcome challenges using your guidance and your principles.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Relatable solutions presented in story form, they inspire confidence and they motivate your audience to take action, knowing that they're not alone in their journey.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Don't be serious the whole time, okay?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

You can use humor and comedy to help emphasize points of your story, but you don't want to make it into a comedy show.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Let me put it like that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

The comedy, you know, light and resistance, you know, use humor and relatable stories.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Laughter helps to disarm any defenses that the audience is putting up while relatable moments will build that comfort and trust.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

A touch of humor or a personal antidote that creates a safe space for your audience to embrace your message with an open mind.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And you always have to end with a call to action.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

End your story with some inspiring takeaway and a very clear next step.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

A well placed call to action turns passive listeners into active participants and that's where you're trying to get to empowering them to overcome their own barriers and to engage deeply with your faith driven mission and message.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Now just a moment ago I briefly mentioned about using comedy in your presentation as a way to disarm some of the defense mechanisms that that may be in your audience.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

But there is an art in doing that.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

So next time will go over using comedy in your storytelling.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Amen.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

And just as I said to Ed with a call to action a moment ago.

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Right?

Pastor Bob Thibodeau:

Well, here's your call to action for today.
