Hello and welcome to Women in
the Coaching Arena podcast.
2
:I'm so glad you are here.
3
:I'm Jo Lott, a business mentor
and ICF accredited coach
4
:Microphone (Samson Q2U Microphone):
and I help coaches to
5
:build brilliant businesses.
6
:I know that when you prepare to enter
the arena, there is fear, self doubt,
7
:comparison, anxiety, uncertainty, shame.
8
:You can tend to armor up and
protect yourself from vulnerability.
9
:In this podcast, I'll be sharing
honest, not hype, practical and
10
:emotional tools to support you to make
the difference that you are here for.
11
:Dare greatly.
12
:You belong in this arena.
13
:Welcome to the 40th episode of
women in the coaching arena.
14
:I am so glad you are here.
15
:Today, I'm excited to share with you that
behind the scenes of:
16
:It's something I do every single year.
17
:You can look back on my website and
look at my annual reviews for all of
18
:my years, but it's the first time I've
obviously reflected on the podcast
19
:because I haven't had my podcast since
I've started doing my annual review.
20
:So super excited to reflect with
you today, especially because I've
21
:just had the most amazing voice
note from Kate Hill, who is a Tik
22
:TOK superstar leadership coach.
23
:And she's just literally left me a
one minute voice message, saying.
24
:Thank you so much.
25
:I've loved having you in my world, even
if I'm not working with you anymore,
26
:it's helped me so much to know that
you're there and she can't explain why.
27
:But she wouldn't have got
where she's got without me.
28
:Which is crazy because she definitely
would have, but to hear it is the
29
:exact reason why I do this work.
30
:So I will share a framework that I
have been using since:
31
:And if you would like to attend
it, depending on the date,
32
:you're listening to this.
33
:A workshop to help you
go through this process.
34
:I will be running that on
Thursday, the 14th of December.
35
:Which is the date that this podcast
goes out sadly, but if you are able to
36
:make it, I would love to see you there.
37
:You will find the signup
link in the show notes.
38
:So what went well and why is
the first part I will discuss?
39
:So for me, Connecting with
people on LinkedIn consistently
40
:and posting consistently has
gone really well this year.
41
:It's something I would highly
recommend that you do always focus
42
:on, especially the audience growth
or network growth, depending on what
43
:type of marketing you are doing.
44
:But that is the biggest game changer
for me this year in growing my business.
45
:Is not putting stuff out
to a stagnant audience.
46
:You know, the same people, seeing it
again and again, and again, always
47
:bringing fresh new people into your
world to be able to see the stuff
48
:that you are putting out there.
49
:So that is a real game
changer for me this year.
50
:It's actually something I didn't
like doing, because I'm the type
51
:to look at their profile and
think, or don't know they'll like
52
:me, or maybe I won't like them or
completely overthinking essentially.
53
:So what I did well this year was
to delegate the connection -bit
54
:just literally hitting that connect
button to my virtual assistant.
55
:I'm absolutely fine with building the
relationships and connecting after that.
56
:But I think it's just that initial piece
which I was just not wanting to do,
57
:therefore I wasn't doing previously.
58
:So having someone to just make
it a less emotional process.
59
:And hit the connect button
without overthinking.
60
:It has really helped me this year.
61
:Being consistent with my email list
is another thing I've done this year.
62
:Previously, I'd been a bit more
haphazard, whereas I think I've pretty
63
:much emailed every week, this year.
64
:So I'm super proud of that.
65
:I know I mentioned a VA, but I
do pretty much everything in my
66
:business, myself, like in terms
of emailing my list, creating the
67
:podcasts, editing it, creating my
sales pages, nurture sequences.
68
:Thank you pages.
69
:You know, all of the things.
70
:So as you will know, as a coach,
there is a lot to balance.
71
:So I am super proud that I have
managed to maintain those emails.
72
:The best thing I think I have done
this year is launched my podcast and I
73
:have put an episode out weekly without
fail, which loads of people have
74
:said, my husband has in particular.
75
:Don't worry.
76
:No one will notice if
you don't put one out.
77
:But it's just something that I know
that maybe they wouldn't notice.
78
:But for me, it's something I've committed
to and therefore I will show up.
79
:That's not saying it's easy
because it's really hard.
80
:And in all honesty, I create most of
these episodes on the Sunday afternoon.
81
:Because it does take reflection
time and thoughts, and a
82
:lot of time afterwards, too.
83
:Add it and do the emails and
get it all on the platforms.
84
:So it's been really hard to fit that in
my day, and that will come into my, what
85
:I'm going to do differently next year.
86
:But for now, Just saying I'm
super proud that I have committed
87
:myself to put this podcast out.
88
:To be honest in this podcast,
but hopefully to also inspire you
89
:that anything is possible for you.
90
:Facebook ads are another thing
I've moved to for the first time
91
:this year to grow my email list.
92
:I've really enjoyed that.
93
:Although it is tricky because currently,
luckily the people that are in my
94
:world on my email, know me, like me,
and trust me, probably already prior
95
:to signing up to the email list.
96
:So it does feel a bit strange to
have kind of cold people who don't
97
:know who I am on my email list.
98
:But I'm excited to warm them up and
help them get to know me and add as
99
:much value to them to be able to change
their lives and change their business,
100
:which is the reason I'm out there trying
to get more people onto my email list.
101
:Another thing that went super well this
year is hiring a social media manager.
102
:It's been an absolute joy to
have that constant thought of my
103
:gosh, I better put a post out.
104
:Off of my plate and for it to
be done really consistently.
105
:Look really pretty.
106
:I didn't use to bother personally
with Instagram, whereas now
107
:she's posting on Instagram.
108
:And so it's been wonderful to
grow that platform as well.
109
:Saying that- what I have in the later
months of:
110
:occasionally putting out my own stuff.
111
:Nicole makes things lovely.
112
:If you're wondering if it's her
or me, it's kind of obvious.
113
:Cause I'll put out some really bad photo.
114
:Some really bad worded text.
115
:But actually it's those posts that
do the best because people know it's,
116
:you, they know it's in the moment.
117
:They know you had something to say
and you wanted to say it right there.
118
:And then, so what I learning from
having a social media manager is that.
119
:It's not that easy to just delegate
things and think I'm not going to
120
:have anything to do with my marketing.
121
:You really do need to be
the heart of your marketing.
122
:And actually I miss it and I enjoy it
and I enjoy communicating my message.
123
:So I think there is a balance.
124
:Yes.
125
:It's a joy to know I've got some
consistent content being scheduled
126
:out there, but I also next year wants
to bring in far more of my personal
127
:stories and things that really help
people to connect with you as a person.
128
:So if you're not currently
sharing personal stories, I
129
:would really highly recommend it.
130
:It's the best way.
131
:And your biggest differentiator
in this marketplace.
132
:In terms of work life,
balance, time and energy.
133
:I am pretty tired.
134
:It's what I've written here.
135
:As I come towards the end of the year.
136
:I have really ramped up my visibility.
137
:I've held a webinar, then an
in-person event, then I'm running
138
:a two hour workshop next week.
139
:And so it takes a lot of energy
out of you running events.
140
:But I do love it.
141
:I've got a lot better at really managing
to disconnect when I'm out of the house.
142
:And I think that's a good learning is.
143
:Sadly, because I worked from home.
144
:You have that connection
with work and you'll kind of
145
:sneaking off to record podcasts.
146
:So, what I'm intending to do next year
is look for some sort of office space.
147
:So I have more of a divide
between my home and work.
148
:In terms of my personal development,
I have read a lot of books.
149
:I always write out a list
of the books I have read.
150
:So I will publish that in my actual hard
copy of this reflection on my website.
151
:I've had lots of different
coaches this year.
152
:So I worked with Gemma Gilbert
in her program amplify, and also
153
:in her mastermind for 18 months.
154
:I have recently started working
with someone called Phil Harrison.
155
:To ramp up my visibility and actually
they're complete opposites because
156
:Gemma Gilbert's message is anti launch.
157
:Whereas Phil Harrison's message is.
158
:Go big on your launches.
159
:So next year you will see
me going big on my launches.
160
:I think after two years of having
the more evergreen approach
161
:and on to really like it.
162
:I am excited and ready
to really grow my impact.
163
:Show up more.
164
:Help more people.
165
:As well as those two business coaches
this year, I've worked with Juliet
166
:Whyte who's a wellness practitioner.
167
:She does EFT and parts work
and lots of other work.
168
:So we've worked on some kind of deeper
emotional trauma type stuff with Juliet.
169
:I have worked with Nick Harris,
my coach for over four years
170
:now, he's an ICF MCC coach.
171
:And he constantly helps me to really
see the deep, meaningful reasons behind
172
:everything that happens in life, which
is usually related back to childhood.
173
:So I'm super lucky that he has helped me
to become a better coach and constantly
174
:helping me evolve on this journey.
175
:So I have invested personally, a lot
of money in my business and in myself.
176
:And I really do believe the best ever
investment you can make is in yourself.
177
:And it's paid off for me, tenfold.
178
:Whether that is getting the exact result
that I signed up for from the person.
179
:Or whether it is learning and growing
along the way, I really do think that
180
:there needs to be more responsibility
in terms of, if you're signing up for
181
:something you need to show up for it.
182
:And that's something that I definitely
take responsibility for and it's
183
:served me tenfold in my business
and the people I have worked with.
184
:In terms of clients I've
worked with 41 people in the
185
:business of coaching in 2023.
186
:I worked with 14 additional people
in my program offer to market.
187
:I worked with a few one-to-one clients.
188
:I have helped lots of people's through,
my free webinars and workshops that I run
189
:so if you've attended any of those, I hope
that they have been super helpful for you.
190
:My clients have achieved some
huge success stories this year.
191
:I'm super proud to have
been part of their journey.
192
:And I am so blessed with
the most amazing confident
193
:courageous women who I work with.
194
:So I have had all dream clients.
195
:And for that, I'm like, seriously blessed.
196
:In terms of habits and behaviors.
197
:This is the year when I've
noticed my hormones, the most,
198
:I will be 45 in a few months.
199
:And I'm most definitely dreading
certain times of the month now.
200
:And I think it's all ramping up.
201
:So that's a bit nerve wracking.
202
:Given the energy that it
takes to build your business.
203
:I haven't always made time for my walks.
204
:I haven't done my meditation
as much as I have in the past.
205
:So my health and really needs to
become a cornerstone for:
206
:In terms of offers, I've kept it
super simple this year with offer
207
:to market running two times, I
think, and, my business of coaching
208
:program running all of the time.
209
:And I've run two in-person events.
210
:It's been wonderful to have a really
simple business model, although I'm
211
:excited to be launching a new program
in:
212
:two or three maximum programs that I
offer because every single one is pretty
213
:much like a business in themselves
needing an entirely new marketing plan.
214
:And ideal client and all of the things.
215
:So I would still definitely
recommend keeping your
216
:business as simple as you can.
217
:In terms of sales and income.
218
:I've earned around 30,000
more than I did in:
219
:I put that down to.
220
:showing up more, more consistently.
221
:Gaining help.
222
:So this is revenue, not profit.
223
:But for me, it's not really
about bringing in more money.
224
:It's about helping as many
people as I possibly can.
225
:So I'm competing against myself
hair, not against, the online
226
:world of sharing your finances.
227
:My three highlights of this year
is that it's been a year of growth.
228
:It's been a year of support, but
more is needed and it's been an
229
:incredible year of client wins.
230
:My three significant challenges were
that I have ended up building a business,
231
:which relies on my personal energy
rather than on systems and processes.
232
:I take on too much responsibility.
233
:So I think I need to be way
more challenging in:
234
:Um, my final challenge is that I
still do a lot myself in my business,
235
:and I need to really start figuring
out how I can seamlessly hand things
236
:over so I can spend more time.
237
:Doing that work with my clients.
238
:In terms of my team.
239
:I've loved having Jo.
240
:My VA she's worked with
me for a long time now.
241
:We rarely have to speak because
she just knows what I want
242
:and she does it perfectly.
243
:So thank you, Jo.
244
:And Nicole, my social
media manager is amazing.
245
:She helps me be organized.
246
:I very rarely need to amend anything
that she drafts because she's
247
:got me, she's got my business.
248
:She created the most
beautiful coaches planner.
249
:If you haven't seen it yet, please
do look for the link in the show
250
:notes and you can download a editable
version or you can buy it on Amazon.
251
:And so pretty thanks to Nicole.
252
:I worked with Olga Getman for a short
while as my online business manager.
253
:It was only for a really short
while, but she made a super
254
:big impression in that time.
255
:I worked with Sophie on my Facebook ads.
256
:Which was wonderful to know that I had
someone just putting things out there.
257
:My word of the year for 2023 was Support.
258
:And I did seek out support this year.
259
:I have now my VA, social media,
manager, facebook ads person.
260
:I also sought out other coaches
like, I've talked about to really
261
:help me personally, on this journey.
262
:So my 2024 game plan, my
priority is to put my family at
263
:the heart of everything I do.
264
:To pin up, if I'm saying yes to
this, what am I saying no to?
265
:Because I do think that I am fully
invested in my clients and I always will
266
:be, but sometimes it does come at the
expense of my family because I'm extremely
267
:driven by wanting the best for my clients.
268
:Again, to really do that.
269
:I think what I will do is have
a more dedicated workplace.
270
:So I have a bit more divided
between my home and my work.
271
:This year, I'm intending to build a real
business that isn't based on my energy.
272
:So I do put a lot of energy
into everything I do.
273
:And I do think there are
areas that I can automate.
274
:For example, I create gifts for my clients
and I order them loads of different gifts.
275
:And then I buy the envelope and
then I get a personalised card and
276
:then I walk it to the post office.
277
:So there's lots of things I'm doing
currently that requires a lot of
278
:personal energy and there are ways
to systemize that love and care
279
:that I want to give my clients.
280
:So I really need to step into that in
:
281
:level of service I want to give without
it being based on my personal energy.
282
:And my final priority for 2024 is to
launch a group program about how you
283
:can launch a group program, because
it's been the best thing I ever did.
284
:There is a particular.
285
:Way of launching a group program
and creating a program that gets
286
:results and creating a program
that creates amazing case studies.
287
:And so I, have done this myself genuinely
over the last two and a half years.
288
:And created a program
that people rave about.
289
:So I'm so excited to launch
that on the 11th of January.
290
:If you are interested, email me
at joanna@joannalottcoaching.com?
291
:That's Joanna with an a and Lott with two
T's, joanna@joannalottcoaching.com and
292
:ask me for the details of the business
of group coaching and I will send you
293
:a document with all of the details.
294
:My values and words of the year for 2024.
295
:So my main value is championing.
296
:So I've written here, both me,
them and them championing me.
297
:So I do a lot of championing
and I don't always allow myself
298
:to be championed in return.
299
:Fortunately, I have the most amazing
clients and people around me who do this
300
:and constantly remind me to allow it.
301
:So that is a real focus for me for 2024.
302
:And my other kind of businessy
type focus, I guess is CEO.
303
:So is this something a CEO would
do I want to constantly ask myself.
304
:I have this amazing woman
I love called Fabienne.
305
:So I'm going to genuinely start asking
myself what would Fabienne to, would
306
:Fabienne be creating the sales page or
would she be asking someone else to do it?
307
:So I'm hoping to really
step into Fabienne in:
308
:And that CEO of my business.
309
:So I hope it was interesting to
hear someone else's reflection
310
:of their business and hopefully
some of the things I'm sharing you
311
:can take into your business too.
312
:If I've actually created my written
document by the time this episode goes
313
:live, I will share it in the show notes.
314
:Otherwise, you will find it on my website
before the year ends because I publish
315
:it every year and you can look back to
my previous ones and really notice the
316
:journey because I think it's really easy
to want it all and want it all now, and
317
:it's nice to sometimes see that it's taken
a really long time to get to this point.
318
:And to really notice the
milestones along the way.
319
:So I hope that was helpful to hear
the behind the scenes of my business.
320
:I cannot wait to see yours, so, if you
do a reflection, please do send it to me.
321
:I would love to see it.
322
:And it's the perfect thing to help
you to connect to your ideal client.
323
:And also to be able to look back
and see your progress along this
324
:journey of entrepreneurship.
325
:So thank you for joining me today.
326
:I appreciate you.
327
:I appreciate your time.
328
:And like, I always say, trust yourself,
believe in yourself and be the wise
329
:Gardner who keeps on watering the seed.
330
:Thank you so much for listening to this
episode of Women in the Coaching Arena.
331
:I have a mess of free resources on
my website joannalottcoaching.com.
332
:That's Joanna with an A
and Lott with two T's.
333
:joannalottcoaching.com.
334
:And I'll also put links in the show notes.
335
:Let me know if you found
this episode useful.
336
:Share it with a friend and
leave me a review, and I will
337
:personally thank you for that.
338
:Remember to trust yourself, believe
in yourself and be the wise Gardner
339
:who keeps on watering the seed.
340
:Get into the arena dare, greatly and try.
