Shownotes

Join us in this new episode of the "Sound Mind" series as we read and pick apart Ephesians Chapter 2.

I study the chapters on my own, then I share my "interpretation" from the particular portion of scripture I just read. Again, as stated before - this is simply my interpretation.

I am vocalizing the importance of that, because this is the living Word . It may not resonate to you in the way it has resonated to me. Therefore, I kindly ask that you all open up your bibles and follow.

I am here to help you grow, but the Lord is the only one that can birth true knowledge and wisdom. I thank you for listening and following along in these Holy scriptures. God bless you, my friends.

Speaker:

All right, everyone, welcome

back to I Can He Can.

2

:

This is Sai and this is episode 28 Today

we are doing the Sound Mind series,

3

:

part two, and we are going to jump

into Ephesians chapter two momentarily.

4

:

But before I do that, I wanna go

ahead and tell you guys about my

5

:

weekend today, January 17th, 2026.

6

:

I did something that has filled

my cup more than anything I think

7

:

I have ever done before and.

8

:

You know, you can say that I've done

a few exciting things here and there

9

:

and traveled to a few places that have

really just kind of left me wanting more.

10

:

But today I hosted my very first Bible

study, and I'm not going to lie, all

11

:

the things that I have done in my 35

years of life, this is giving it a run

12

:

for its money because I feel so happy,

so joyful, so fulfilled, just so.

13

:

In love with the feeling that the Holy

Spirit gives you when you really are

14

:

connected to Jesus, and not just by

yourself, but within a group of women who

15

:

want the exact same thing that you do.

16

:

And it's amazing.

17

:

It really is amazing, and I'm

looking forward to doing it again.

18

:

And these ladies truly touched my heart.

19

:

they took.

20

:

The time to be there.

21

:

And they took the time not just to

be there for me, but to give their

22

:

time to the Lord, because that

is exactly what today was about.

23

:

It was all about the Lord.

24

:

We gathered together, we took forever to

set up the music, to set up the little

25

:

screen that we had and the projector.

26

:

But when we got it on and

we had everything working,

27

:

and we started worshiping.

28

:

The spirit was moving.

29

:

We all had chills.

30

:

We were all teary eyed and we

cried and we were laughing and

31

:

we danced a little bit and it was

just, it was absolutely beautiful

32

:

We're planning to do it

at least once a month.

33

:

That's the goal.

34

:

But it was just absolutely amazing to

share that time with those ladies and.

35

:

While we were worshiping one of the

girls, her name is Evelyn, she told

36

:

me after that she kept thinking

of this one verse in her head the

37

:

entire time while we were worshiping

38

:

And that verse is Matthew 1820,

when she shared it with me, I

39

:

wasn't really sure what verse it

was, but I'm looking at it now.

40

:

And she sent it a little earlier

as well in the group chat.

41

:

But now that I'm reading it,

I have no doubt she was right.

42

:

And this verse says, Matthew chapter

18, verse 20, for when two or three

43

:

are gathered together in my name,

I am there in the midst of them.

44

:

And yes, yes, the Holy

Spirit was definitely in our

45

:

midst and we all had chills.

46

:

We finished worshiping.

47

:

I know a name.

48

:

We finished praise and we finished.

49

:

Gratitude.

50

:

And in those three

songs, we all had chills.

51

:

We were all teary eyed.

52

:

We were just so full of the joy of

the Lord that there's no denying it.

53

:

The Holy Spirit was indeed in

our presence and it was amazing,

54

:

and I can't wait for more.

55

:

I truly, truly can't wait

for our next Bible study.

56

:

But Before I do, before I start

reading, remember what I always

57

:

tell you guys, I am not an expert.

58

:

I'm not a theologist.

59

:

I am new to reading the Bible.

60

:

This is my interpretation.

61

:

This is what I am getting from reading.

62

:

What I have studied so far, and I

truly, truly do encourage you guys

63

:

to open your Bible to read it for

yourself because this is how it spoke

64

:

to me, and it doesn't mean that it's

going to speak in the same way to you.

65

:

And I assure you that if I read this

again a few months from now or a

66

:

year from now, I'm probably gonna get

something brand new from it as well.

67

:

Because this is the living word.

68

:

The Bible speaks to you in

ways that you'll never imagine

69

:

and when you least expect it.

70

:

So this is the new King James version.

71

:

So let's go ahead and jump

into Ephesians chapter two.

72

:

And you, he made alive who were dead

and trespasses and sins in which you

73

:

once walked according to the course of

this world, according to the prince of

74

:

the power of the air, the spirit who

now works in the sons of disobedience,

75

:

among who also, we all once conducted

ourselves in the lusts of our flesh,

76

:

fulfilling the desires of the flesh

and of the mind, and were by nature

77

:

children of wrath just as the others.

78

:

But God who is rich in mercy because

of his great love, with which he

79

:

loved us, even when we were dead in

trespasses, made us alive together with

80

:

Christ by grace, you have been saved,

and raised us up together and made us

81

:

sit together in the heavenly places.

82

:

In Christ Jesus.

83

:

That in the ages to come, he might show

the exceeding riches of his grace in

84

:

his kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.

85

:

For by grace, you have been saved

through faith and that not of ourselves.

86

:

It is the gift of God, not of works

lest anyone should boast for we are

87

:

His workmanship created in Christ Jesus

for good works, which God prepared

88

:

beforehand that we should walk in them.

89

:

All right you guys.

90

:

So that was verse one through

nine of Ephesians chapter two.

91

:

Now I'm gonna go back and I'm

gonna break it down little

92

:

by little before we continue.

93

:

So verse one says, and you, he made alive

who were dead and trespasses and sins.

94

:

He is dignifying Jesus.

95

:

He made us alive.

96

:

We are renewed.

97

:

We are redeemed because

of the blood of Jesus.

98

:

So what he did on the cross

is atonement for our sins.

99

:

Right now, we are dead in sin, whether.

100

:

Some people may be worse than others.

101

:

Yes.

102

:

You know, and we fall every day.

103

:

We are in sin.

104

:

This world was cursed the moment

that Adam and Eve messed up

105

:

and ate from the tree of life.

106

:

And the truth is that the only person

that can actually make up for that

107

:

first trespass that led to sin is Jesus.

108

:

So of course.

109

:

You may not get all of that just from

this one verse, but knowing what I

110

:

know now and what I have read, I a

hundred percent understand that in

111

:

this, that he made alive who were

dead in trespasses and sins Now.

112

:

Verse two says, in which you once

walked according to the course of this

113

:

world, according to the prince of the

power of the air, the spirit who now

114

:

works in the sons of disobedience.

115

:

This for a moment, I don't know why.

116

:

I was confused and I thought it was

Jesus, but then obviously seeing sons

117

:

of disobedience and seeing prints of.

118

:

The power of the air.

119

:

That was really confusing to me and

I was like, well, Jesus is definitely

120

:

not anything that's disobedience.

121

:

So I started thinking that

this is referring to Satan

122

:

So verse three says, among whom also,

we all once conducted ourselves in

123

:

the lust of our flesh, fulfilling

the desires of the flesh and of the

124

:

mind, and were by nature children

of wrath just as the others.

125

:

So what this is telling me is that.

126

:

Until we are forgiven through Jesus' blood

for the trespasses and sins that we are

127

:

all born into, we are all like Satan.

128

:

We are all giving into our flesh.

129

:

We are all diving into those lust

and, and to the things of the world.

130

:

Like verse two says, the course

of this world, according to the

131

:

prince of the power of the air, so

anything that's of the world is.

132

:

Is the enemies and we need to

be on the lookout for that.

133

:

and then verse three finishes,

like I had said by Nature Children

134

:

of Wrath, just as the others,

135

:

It is natural for us to want

a sin, and as much as we may

136

:

say, no, no, I'm not a sinner.

137

:

I'm not this, I'm not.

138

:

You need to stop holding

yourself up on a pedestal.

139

:

I was once there.

140

:

I didn't think I was a bad

person, but you know what?

141

:

The more I learn about Jesus and

how he lived the perfect life,

142

:

the more I know that I am dirty.

143

:

I am unclean how the Old Testament says.

144

:

There is a lot of work to do.

145

:

There is a lot of things that we need

to actually change and work on little by

146

:

little so we can walk that righteous path.

147

:

And when I say righteous, I'm not

saying that we are going to have,

148

:

you know, our nose is perked up and

walking like, we're better than others.

149

:

No.

150

:

This is something that we must do

for the Lord honoring him because

151

:

of his sacrifice, because of him,

like we learned in chapter one.

152

:

We have his inheritance.

153

:

He paid for our inheritance

through his blood.

154

:

And anyway, I digress because that

is only verse one through three and

155

:

look at the round that I've gone on.

156

:

But anyway, so verse four, but God,

who is rich in mercy because of his

157

:

great love with which he loved us.

158

:

Yes, God is rich in mercy

at the end of the day.

159

:

All he wants is us.

160

:

We have always been in his

plan and he is merciful.

161

:

And no matter how many times we

may fall, it may not be a hundred

162

:

percent correct, but in my opinion,

remember this is all my opinion.

163

:

I truly do believe that God will always

forgive us if our heart, which he knows

164

:

and he is within our heart, is true, and

he knows that we are actually repenting.

165

:

Because we can't just say, oh Lord,

forgive me, forgive me, forgive

166

:

me, and then not really mean it.

167

:

He knows when our hearts are

right and when our hearts

168

:

are not in the right place.

169

:

So verse five, even when we were

dead in trespasses, made us alive

170

:

together with Christ by grace.

171

:

You have been saved.

172

:

Again, like I said, even now that we are

dead in trespasses, we are dead in sin.

173

:

We are constantly doing the

things that God looks down upon.

174

:

He still gave us that

redemption through Jesus.

175

:

He's still wanting to save

us and bring us together.

176

:

He wants to make us alive

together with Christ.

177

:

Verse six.

178

:

And raised us up together and made

us sit together and in the heavenly

179

:

places in Christ Jesus, he's going

to put us back in heaven with Jesus.

180

:

We are all going to be

brothers and sisters of Jesus.

181

:

Isn't that amazing?

182

:

Verse seven, that in the ages to come,

meaning the end times the second coming.

183

:

That in the ages to come, he might show

the exceeding riches of his grace in

184

:

his kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.

185

:

That's exactly what he's going to do.

186

:

Guys, you need to read Revelation.

187

:

I haven't fully a hundred percent

immersed myself in it, but I did a

188

:

study, with my old church and what I

did learn is that today's day and age

189

:

is very much looking like end times.

190

:

So.

191

:

Like verse seven says that in

the ages to come, the end times

192

:

the second coming of Jesus.

193

:

That can be any day.

194

:

That can be any day now.

195

:

So this is a warning to you guys.

196

:

Stop with the lukewarm.

197

:

Stop walking lightly.

198

:

No.

199

:

Dig your head into the word.

200

:

Dive into it head first.

201

:

We need Jesus because

at the end of the day.

202

:

We know where we want to go.

203

:

We do not want to be in the

place where Jesus is not.

204

:

Anyway, I am like so excited from

today and still so happy and joyful

205

:

that I'm just, I'm talking so much,

so I apologize in advance you guys.

206

:

All right, Next is verse eight, and I

actually am going to read eight through

207

:

10 because I have all of this underlined.

208

:

And it says, for by grace you have

been saved through faith and that not

209

:

of yourselves, it is the gift of God.

210

:

So we can't save ourselves,

only God can save us.

211

:

And again, this isn't super, super

detailed, but what I'm understanding here

212

:

is that even though we think we are saved

because AKA, we are going to church, no.

213

:

God knows our heart.

214

:

He's the only one that can a

hundred percent tell where we are

215

:

in our walk and in our faith, and

if we truly, truly accepted Jesus.

216

:

So he's the only one that can save us.

217

:

Verse nine.

218

:

Not of works lest anyone should boast

not of works lest anyone should post.

219

:

Yeah, I mean, we can't save ourselves with

our works, with the things that we do.

220

:

No, God is the only one that can save us.

221

:

For we are his workmanship created

in Christ Jesus for good works,

222

:

which God prepared beforehand

that we should walk in them.

223

:

So again, God already had us and

Christ in his plans way, way,

224

:

way before we can even imagine.

225

:

And he created us for good

works, for good things.

226

:

It is a gift from God that we get to be

here and have a purpose that is godly.

227

:

So.

228

:

I urge you guys, I urge you guys to

not just go to church, but to truly

229

:

seek Jesus and have a relationship

with him because it is a gift.

230

:

It is a gift to understand him.

231

:

And even if you feel that you keep

messing up, just walking alongside him

232

:

little by little is going to change you.

233

:

It doesn't take much.

234

:

It truly doesn't.

235

:

All right, so now I'm going to read

the second part of Ephesians two, and

236

:

I'm going to read all the way from

verse 11 through the very end verse 22.

237

:

So once I'm done with that, we'll go

ahead and we'll continue to break it down.

238

:

Verse 11.

239

:

Therefore, remember that you once

Gentiles in the flesh who are called

240

:

uncircumcision by what is called the

circumcision, made in the flesh by hands.

241

:

That at the time you were without

Christ being aliens from the

242

:

commonwealth of Israel and strangers

from the covenants of promise.

243

:

Having no hope, and without God in

the world, but now in Christ Jesus,

244

:

you who once were far off, have been

brought near by the blood of Christ.

245

:

For, he himself is our peace who has made

both one and has broken down the middle

246

:

wall of separation, having abolished in

his flesh, the enmity that is the law

247

:

of commandments contained in ordinances

so as to create in himself one new

248

:

man from the two, thus making peace.

249

:

And that he might reconcile them both

to God in one body through the cross,

250

:

thereby putting to death the enmity.

251

:

And he came and preached peace

to you who were a far off, and to

252

:

those who were near for through him.

253

:

We both have access by

one spirit to the father.

254

:

Now, therefore, you are no

longer strangers and foreigners.

255

:

Be fellow citizens with the saints and

members of the household of God have been

256

:

built on the foundation of the apostles

and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being

257

:

the chief cornerstone in whom the whole

building being fitted together grows

258

:

into a holy temple in the Lord in whom

you also are being built together for

259

:

a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

260

:

I absolutely just love Ephesians.

261

:

I hope you guys are enjoying

this as much as I am, honestly.

262

:

So let's break down a few verses here.

263

:

So verse 11 says, therefore, remember

that you once gentiles in the flesh

264

:

who are called, uncircumcision by

what is called the circumcision,

265

:

made in the flesh by hands.

266

:

Okay, that is a lot to understand.

267

:

That's, that's a lot.

268

:

Let's read verse 12 and

put it all together.

269

:

That at the time you were without Christ

being aliens from the commonwealth of

270

:

Israel and strangers from the covenants

of promise, having no hope, turn the page,

271

:

no hope and without God in the world.

272

:

Okay, so if you've read the Old Testament.

273

:

You will remember that the Jews had

a covenant with God and part of that

274

:

covenant where they showed that they

were devoured, that they believed in

275

:

God, the men were to get circumcised.

276

:

So right here, it's saying that before

Jesus, that's what they had to do.

277

:

They had to circumcise themselves, but

that's because they were without Christ.

278

:

They were aliens.

279

:

From the Commonwealth of Israel.

280

:

They were strangers.

281

:

So there's no promise in that.

282

:

That is a worldly thing.

283

:

there was no hope, and Why?

284

:

Because Jesus was still to come.

285

:

Now, verse 13, I have completely

underlined and I even have Amen

286

:

right after 'cause it was just.

287

:

So beautiful.

288

:

Verse 13 says, but now in Christ Jesus,

you who once were far off, have been

289

:

brought near by the blood of Christ.

290

:

So just like the Jews who had

to circumcise themselves to

291

:

prove their covenant to God.

292

:

Now we have Jesus, and Jesus

is allowing us to come closer.

293

:

We are no longer far off.

294

:

We have been brought near

because of the blood of Christ.

295

:

Verse 14, for He himself is our peace.

296

:

He is he meaning Jesus,

who has made both one.

297

:

And has broken down the middle wall

of separation, having abolished in his

298

:

flesh, the enmity that is the law of

commandments contained in ordinances.

299

:

Okay.

300

:

Before I continue, Jesus is our peace

and because of him, he abolished the

301

:

enmity, the, the war that existed

because of the law and its commandments.

302

:

So.

303

:

There was a middle wall of separation is

what it's saying in verse 14, and then

304

:

15, having abolished in his flesh with his

blood, with his body, with his sacrifice.

305

:

He abolished that war that there

was with the Law of Commandments

306

:

contained in ordinances in the order

of God, because God is a God of order.

307

:

I actually had that ingrained in my

mind because of my, my new pastor.

308

:

That God is a God of order.

309

:

That's why he had the law.

310

:

That's why he created the law,

because we have to know that there

311

:

is an order that God believes in and

not just believes in, but demands.

312

:

So as Christians, we must

also follow those laws.

313

:

It's not saying that not following

them is not going to have us be saved,

314

:

but it's it's an all in all thing.

315

:

My friends, we need to know the laws.

316

:

We need to know right from wrong.

317

:

And we need to follow those things.

318

:

We need to honor what God wants us to do.

319

:

So continuing here on verse 15, it says

So as to create in himself one new man

320

:

from the two, thus making peace, verse 16.

321

:

And that he might reconcile them both

to God in one body through the cross.

322

:

So, of course, that's

exactly what I was saying.

323

:

because of Jesus's sacrifice, we're

going to be reconciled to God because

324

:

of what he did on the cross, thereby

putting to death the enmity, putting

325

:

to death, that war that was going

on between the law and having faith

326

:

in Jesus and walking with Jesus.

327

:

There is no more of that

because of that sacrifice.

328

:

All we need to do.

329

:

It is believed that what Jesus did

for us is verse 17, and he came and

330

:

preached peace to you who were a

far off and to those who were near.

331

:

So Paul is saying there that Jesus

came and he preached the gospel.

332

:

He preached that peace to you, to all

the people that were there, people

333

:

that were far off, people that were

in sin, and also to people that

334

:

were near people that followed him.

335

:

People that believed

that he was a messiah.

336

:

Verse 18.

337

:

This is another one that I have

completely circled, and it says, for

338

:

through him, we both have access by

one spirit to the father, man, because

339

:

of Jesus, we have access to God.

340

:

How amazing is that?

341

:

Now, continuing on verse 19.

342

:

Okay, now therefore, you are no

longer strangers and foreigners,

343

:

but fellow citizens with the saints

and members of the household of God.

344

:

So I don't know if you remember in chapter

one it actually said that we were going

345

:

to be with Jesus in the heavenly places.

346

:

Oh yeah.

347

:

Right here.

348

:

Yeah.

349

:

I'm going through my actual

Bible as I'm talking.

350

:

So bear with me.

351

:

So Ephesians one.

352

:

Verse 20 says, which he worked in

Christ when he raised him from the

353

:

dead and seated him at his right

hand in the heavenly places, far

354

:

above all principality and power and

might and dominion, and every name

355

:

that is named, not only in this age,

but also in that which is to come.

356

:

That was uh, verse 21, verse 22 says, and

he put all things under his feet, meaning

357

:

Jesus, and gave him to be head over all

things to the church, which is his body.

358

:

We are his body, the fullness

of Him who fills all in awe.

359

:

We are the fullness of Jesus.

360

:

We complete him.

361

:

And just like this verse that I was

reading says in Ephesians two verse 19,

362

:

we are fellow citizens with the saints

and members of the household of God.

363

:

And how is it that we can

do that through Jesus?

364

:

That is the only way

that we will get there.

365

:

Verse 20, having been built on the

foundation of the apostles and prophets.

366

:

'cause those are the

ones that came before us.

367

:

Jesus Christ himself being

the chief cornerstone.

368

:

Remember, Jesus is the head of the church.

369

:

He's the cornerstone, verse 21, in whom

the whole building being fitted together

370

:

grows into a holy temple in the Lord.

371

:

Verse 22, I love verse 22.

372

:

So, so much.

373

:

Well, you guys are probably like sadra.

374

:

You love every single verse

and Yeah, that's true.

375

:

I just, I love the word.

376

:

So verse 22 says, in whom you also

are being built together for a

377

:

dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

378

:

And I have a little

note on here that says,

379

:

Just as Jesus is a temple, we

are also temples of the spirit.

380

:

That's the note that I had written

here in the Bible, You guys, God

381

:

thought of absolutely everything that

there is to possibly think about when

382

:

he planned out this amazing majestic

plan to make sure that the people.

383

:

Who truly loved him can return to him.

384

:

He knew that he was going to leave a

piece of him in us, a piece of Jesus.

385

:

'cause Jesus is God.

386

:

So he knew that he was

going to leave that in us.

387

:

So once we are finally reconciled

to him, once we finally have that

388

:

second coming of Jesus, and we have

that white throne judgment, we are

389

:

finally going to be built together.

390

:

And have that dwelling

place in God, in the spirit.

391

:

I don't know about you guys, but

that sounds so beautiful, so peaceful

392

:

and just so much joy and, and, and a

thought that one day we are going to

393

:

just be dwelling among the apostles,

like it says there, the apostles and

394

:

the prophets, the people that wrote

this very book that I'm reading from.

395

:

We're all going to have

a different purpose.

396

:

We're all going to have a different

job in heaven, whatever that may be.

397

:

I don't even know what, what that may

be, and I'm really like veering off

398

:

here, but it's beautiful and I truly

hope that reading the word gives you

399

:

a sense of who God and who Jesus are.

400

:

like I said in one of the other episodes,

401

:

They are the perfectionists.

402

:

Everything they do is absolute perfection.

403

:

They know when something

is good or bad for us.

404

:

They know when we need them a

little bit more, even when we don't

405

:

think they want us, they're there.

406

:

They are there.

407

:

The spirit resides in us.

408

:

Our inheritance is peace

through Jesus, and then finally

409

:

being reconciled back to God.

410

:

How beautiful so anyway, my

friends, I hope that you've

411

:

enjoyed this verse by verse.

412

:

Of Ephesians chapter two.

413

:

I will be back next week with chapter

three, I truly appreciate every single

414

:

one of you that tune in, and I can't

wait to have you guys here again.

415

:

I hope this has blessed you.

416

:

I hope that this has brought

you closer to the Lord,

417

:

and I truly hope that there is

something that you can take away from

418

:

this and share with someone else.

419

:

Love you all.

420

:

Take care.

421

:

Until next week.
