Shownotes

“Getting to know you, getting to feel free and easy when I’m with you.”

This week Han, Cil, and Rachel temporarily put down the character analysis and get personal — about themselves and their 9-1-1 opinions.

After a year of diving deep into the wild world of 9-1-1, we realized we've been a bit mysterious — like, who is The Buddie System anyway? Ew. This episode is all about us: why we started a podcast, what it’s like to produce, and what makes us the trio you’ve come to love (or tolerate). So, settle in for story time as we share our personal anecdotes like how we started watching 9-1-1, and why we became obsessed with those two charming firefighters, Buck and Eddie.

And thanks to our amazing listener Jill (@right_writer_), we’ve got some great questions lined up to guide the convo, because honestly, we can talk about ourselves for hours but don’t know where to start.

So, whether you’re here for the inside scoop or just want to laugh along with us, we promise this episode is packed with Buddie System lore and good vibes. Join us as we celebrate a year of podcasting with our best buddies!

Speaker A:

Hi, welcome to another minisode, a special episode with the Buddies.

Speaker B:

Hello.

Speaker B:

I don't have a sound board.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

We realized that we've been here a year and we've never really, like, introduced ourselves and talked about ourselves in a capacity more than our, like three minute trailer or the random tidbits that we put in episodes.

Speaker C:

We really said just like, here's all of our opinions about the show and nothing about us.

Speaker C:

Yes, we are a mystery to you.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

No background on where we're coming from.

Speaker B:

We're just three people who just showed up and said, here's a podcast.

Speaker C:

I think the things that the listeners or.

Speaker C:

Or the watchers or whoever would have picked up on from the hours and hours of listening to us to know more about us is we come from Supernatural, so we have supernatural trauma and we love Taylor Swift and that might be it.

Speaker A:

We're from Florida and I don't know that I've actually said where I live, so maybe I've said it on the discord.

Speaker A:

I don't know if I've said it.

Speaker C:

That's all you probably know about us.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

But we thought, would you like to know more?

Speaker A:

If so, keep listening and if not, well, totally fair.

Speaker A:

We'll see you next week.

Speaker A:

We are going to talk about 911, but it'll be like our personal, like, how we got into it or like our opinions on certain things because I think we try to keep it more like analysis or like here we think what we think might be happening in currencies and stuff.

Speaker A:

Like, we don't get too much into our own little opinions.

Speaker C:

Yeah, we had our wonderful, amazing question queen, Jill.

Speaker C:

One of our listeners who is fantastic if you listen to listener, watched our birthday live stream, which is on YouTube.

Speaker C:

Jill came up with we asked nicely, but we really just said, like, here, will you, like, do this for us?

Speaker C:

We're gonna give you a job.

Speaker C:

Yeah, well, you come up with questions because every time, like during the live streams, Jill has like, fantastic questions and we're like, wow, thanks for keeping us on topic.

Speaker C:

So we were like, here, can you come up with some questions?

Speaker C:

And Jill came up with like, so many questions.

Speaker C:

We were like, oh, we haven't actually answered questions about ourselves and stuff.

Speaker C:

So we're using a bunch of Jill's questions today.

Speaker C:

So all.

Speaker C:

All credit goes to Jill.

Speaker C:

We love you so much.

Speaker C:

Thank you for being our probie, our unpaid labor.

Speaker B:

Thanks, Jill.

Speaker C:

Okay, so I think there are like a couple different categories of questions.

Speaker C:

Did we want to do like one category at a Time.

Speaker B:

I think we're going down the list.

Speaker C:

Okay, cool.

Speaker B:

Okay, so I guess these are podcasting related questions, so I'm going to take us away with.

Speaker B:

For listeners who may not have heard the story before, how did you find this show and what made you decide to start watching it?

Speaker C:

I'll go first, because technically I started watching the show before either of y' all.

Speaker B:

Well, okay.

Speaker C:

No, no, it's like, I don't.

Speaker C:

I don't get to hold that card, right?

Speaker B:

No, you don't.

Speaker B:

Actually.

Speaker B:

No, I don't.

Speaker B:

Find out why.

Speaker C:

I know.

Speaker C:

I, Like, I.

Speaker C:

d watching in, I think, like,:

Speaker C:

was probably, like, spring of:

Speaker C:

I think I, like, 911 fandom was, like, in my peripheral on my timelines and stuff, and I was like.

Speaker C:

I was just.

Speaker C:

I think I was just looking for a show to watch the binge or whatever, and I was like, okay, let me check this out.

Speaker C:

And I breezed through, like, the first three seasons, like, pretty quickly, and then I caught up with it.

Speaker C:

So this was.

Speaker C:

Yeah, this is:

Speaker C:

I went through it so quick, so especially with season three.

Speaker C:

And I think we're.

Speaker C:

We're realizing now as we're rewatching season three that, like, it's.

Speaker C:

It is that season.

Speaker C:

But also there's a lot of, like, very heavy stuff in season three.

Speaker C:

So I was binge watching it.

Speaker C:

It might have been the summer because I was binge watching it so fast.

Speaker C:

And then I finally caught up.

Speaker C:

Season four was starting, and it was all this stuff about, like, you know, it was the season that they came back and, like, all the COVID protocols were in place, and I was just like, I'm not sure I can mentally handle this right now.

Speaker C:

Like, it just felt too close that I wasn't ready to, like, have Covid be touched upon in my escapism.

Speaker C:

Right?

Speaker C:

I was like, that's too much realism in my escapism.

Speaker C:

That's too much realism in my escapism.

Speaker C:

So I put it.

Speaker C:

I think I watched, like, the first couple episodes of season four, and I put it down like an idiot.

Speaker C:

Yeah, a whole idiot.

Speaker B:

I can't even defend you.

Speaker C:

1.

Speaker C:

One of the greatest regrets of my life currently is not carrying through because, like, it ended up being fine.

Speaker C:

It was not that big of.

Speaker C:

Of a deal.

Speaker C:

Covid did not play too much of a.

Speaker C:

Of a factor.

Speaker A:

It wasn't like, Grays.

Speaker C:

No.

Speaker C:

And that's.

Speaker C:

And I kept seeing, like, promos for that kind of stuff, so I thought, like, oh, my gosh.

Speaker C:

It's just like, it was.

Speaker C:

It was coming off of season three, and then right into Covid stuff with four, and I was just like, I.

Speaker C:

I just.

Speaker C:

I just need to put it down.

Speaker C:

And I ended up putting it down for, like, two and a half years.

Speaker A:

Because I even got Covid.

Speaker C:

I know.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I guess it, like, helps that they were kind of.

Speaker B:

A lot of their stuff is outside.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

At the club.

Speaker C:

And they did that.

Speaker C:

They did that on.

Speaker C:

On purpose as well.

Speaker C:

So, like an idiot, I put it down for a little bit, and I'm pretty sure I saw stuff about Buck and Eddie getting shot or Eddie getting shot and being like, oh, no.

Speaker C:

And I didn't immediately pick it up, which is crazy.

Speaker C:

But I.

Speaker C:

I saw some things.

Speaker C:

I saw the Eddie getting shot stuff I saw.

Speaker C:

But getting struck by lightning.

Speaker C:

And then you guys started watching, and I was like, well, I guess I should start.

Speaker C:

I should rewatch it and, like, actually catch up.

Speaker C:

And that's my story.

Speaker C:

So I'm.

Speaker C:

I'm a big loser on my head.

Speaker C:

Like.

Speaker A:

Well, she's saying a lot of stuff about herself, Like.

Speaker C:

Like, I could have been here the whole time.

Speaker B:

You could have.

Speaker B:

Could have been like, meg, you failed.

Speaker B:

Had one job.

Speaker C:

I did.

Speaker C:

I did.

Speaker A:

My story is going to be very similar to Sills, because I think we started, like, a week apart.

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

If that.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I feel like.

Speaker B:

I feel like we could answer together.

Speaker B:

But anyway.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we can.

Speaker A:

We can, because it's kind of the same.

Speaker A:

So 704 happened, and our entire timeline was just.

Speaker A:

This was just the Buck is by.

Speaker A:

And we were like, what's going on?

Speaker A:

Was like, what's going on with firefighters?

Speaker B:

Firefighters.

Speaker C:

And I think.

Speaker C:

Was I the one that told you guys?

Speaker C:

Because I was, like, more aware of it, because I.

Speaker C:

I feel like we.

Speaker B:

Texted the group chat, didn't we?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So, like, the group chat between us.

Speaker C:

Three and Nikki, figure out what's going on with these firefighters.

Speaker C:

And I'm like, wait, I know things about this.

Speaker A:

And I was just like.

Speaker A:

I guess they kissed, because, again, I knew nothing.

Speaker A:

I knew nothing.

Speaker A:

So then I went and I messaged Meg, who, if you've listened to her book, actually in the Searchers episode, she was a guest host on both of those.

Speaker A:

And she's been watching this show since, like, literally the pilot.

Speaker A:

And I was like, congrats on your.

Speaker A:

Your guys getting together.

Speaker A:

And she was like, wrong guys.

Speaker A:

But Buck Is bi.

Speaker A:

And I was like, okay, cool.

Speaker A:

Awesome.

Speaker A:

And I think she was like, so are you gonna watch it now?

Speaker A:

And I was like, tell me when the right guys kiss.

Speaker A:

And then I was like, okay, cool.

Speaker A:

Super happy for these guys, I think.

Speaker A:

Still started watching it in the background.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I support me.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So, I mean, okay, so, like, buddy was on my radar, kind of sort of in and out, especially around 20.

Speaker B:

Especially around the.

Speaker B:

The shooting arc.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So I saw that happen on my timeline.

Speaker B:

I don't think I saw the resolution to it, but I did see, like, Eddie getting shot.

Speaker B:

Like, they're on the ground, laying on the cold, hard ground.

Speaker B:

Anyway.

Speaker C:

Had to do it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And then I was like, oh, shit.

Speaker B:

Some shit just happened.

Speaker B:

And then I just scrolled away and, like, went on with my.

Speaker B:

I guess my.

Speaker B:

I guess it was Supernatural.

Speaker A:

Was Supernatural and doing things.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that was:

Speaker B:

Was it:

Speaker C:

When he got 21 was season four.

Speaker C:

2122.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

So super.

Speaker B:

So Supernatural already ended.

Speaker B:

So I was.

Speaker B:

My Marvel stuff.

Speaker B:

Okay, that makes sense.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

It's just I still had, like, Supernatural mutuals and who were watching the show.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So anyway, Fast forward to 704.

Speaker B:

Buck begins.

Speaker B:

I'm like, what the fuck is happening here?

Speaker B:

I'm like, oh, so did it actually happen?

Speaker B:

And then, like, I looked at this.

Speaker B:

I actually did watch this scene, and I'm like, that's not the guy who got shot, but that's the other guy.

Speaker A:

I know what they looked like.

Speaker A:

I just knew there were two firefighters or guys.

Speaker A:

That's it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And I was like.

Speaker B:

And then I was also kind of like.

Speaker B:

I mean, yay.

Speaker B:

But also.

Speaker B:

I don't know about this, but okay, whatever.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, good for.

Speaker C:

Great.

Speaker B:

Great for the 911 fandom.

Speaker B:

And I guess by Buck Troopers, it got.

Speaker B:

It's canon now.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

So anyway, I, like, messaged everyone, and I'm like, what?

Speaker B:

The fog?

Speaker B:

And, like, then they're giving me the details.

Speaker B:

And then I was just like, all right, I'll just put the fucking show on in the background.

Speaker B:

Started watching.

Speaker B:

I started watching of my other.

Speaker B:

With other Meg, my other friend.

Speaker B:

My best friend.

Speaker B:

We.

Speaker B:

Unfortunately.

Speaker B:

Because I have this tendency of needing to, like, finish the thing, and I can't wait for people.

Speaker B:

And I've done.

Speaker A:

It's not a faithful watch part.

Speaker B:

I'm not.

Speaker C:

I'm sorry you guys went so fast.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So, like, I couldn't watch it with me with Megan, so then I started watching it with hand.

Speaker A:

What episode did you watch up to with her?

Speaker B:

Me and Megan, I think 218.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So I think still have been watching.

Speaker B:

It a week, maybe 3.

Speaker B:

3.

Speaker C:

302.

Speaker B:

18 before you.

Speaker B:

When I started, I think I told her to watch without me, and then I was gonna pick up with her.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Somewhere between 218 and 306.

Speaker B:

Because I think 306 was the last one that I'm pretty sure I watched with her.

Speaker B:

And then we just.

Speaker B:

I don't think it's really her vibe.

Speaker B:

She's more into.

Speaker B:

More dramatized, like hbo.

Speaker B:

That's okay.

Speaker B:

Whatever.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So I just put on season two because I was like.

Speaker A:

I saw Sil was watching it, and I was like, I guess I want to get caught up on whatever's going on with these two fucking guys in case it goes canon so that I can, like, watch it from the sidelines.

Speaker A:

It'd just be, like, part of something that isn't terrible.

Speaker B:

Terrible and depressing.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And feeling like we could.

Speaker B:

We're gonna get let down again.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And I was like, so sorry.

Speaker A:

I don't actually care about the first season because the one guy is not there.

Speaker A:

So I just put on season two.

Speaker B:

So she did.

Speaker A:

I have no idea what's happening.

Speaker A:

And I was texting Sil, and I was like, I forget what I said.

Speaker A:

I said something about the Dean Winchester vacation of Buck.

Speaker A:

Because he was just, like, posturing and, like, eating the food with his fingers.

Speaker A:

Like, the way he eats.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So there were things.

Speaker A:

And I was like, oh, this is very, like, Dean Winchester coded.

Speaker A:

Interesting.

Speaker A:

And I was like, the Eddie guy was hilarious immediately, but I was just like, oh, this is cute.

Speaker A:

And she was like, wait, I wanna watch with.

Speaker A:

And then we watched pretty much the rest of it together.

Speaker A:

She watched ahead at one point while I was at my best friend's wedding.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I was gone for, like, four days.

Speaker A:

And she could not wait.

Speaker A:

She also decided we were making a podcast.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Syl and I decided that together very quickly.

Speaker A:

But, yeah, so then we watched it together in, like, a couple weeks.

Speaker A:

A couple weeks.

Speaker A:

And I, again, knew nothing.

Speaker A:

So, like, I went into the shooting.

Speaker A:

No idea that, like, Tsunami.

Speaker A:

No idea that that was the thing that was going to happen.

Speaker A:

The shooting, the lightning strike.

Speaker A:

Like, none of it.

Speaker A:

None of it had heard none of it.

Speaker B:

It was just, like, a good job.

Speaker A:

And then I went back to watch season one when we were in, like, season five or something, and I was like, this is so interesting.

Speaker B:

Vibes are different.

Speaker B:

You hate Abby.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

I could not stand her.

Speaker A:

I still can't.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

So it was funny because you guys were, like, breezing through, and I decided not to pick up from season four.

Speaker C:

I started it all over, and I'm glad I did because I got, like, three Civilization.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But I think I was just kind of watching in the background and enjoying it.

Speaker A:

Like, I was like, oh, I like all of these characters, which is rare for me.

Speaker A:

There's normally.

Speaker A:

I mean, I started in season two, but, like, of the main cast, there's normally at least one character that I can't fucking stand talking about you, Sam Winchester.

Speaker A:

But I was like, this is so cool.

Speaker A:

Like, I actually really like all of these characters.

Speaker A:

But then I wasn't super invested, like, in Buck and Eddie, like, as a ship.

Speaker A:

Like, I was like, oh, they're cute.

Speaker A:

There's gay stuff happening, obviously.

Speaker A:

But, like, the tsunami are.

Speaker A:

And 303, I was like, oh, it got doing things.

Speaker A:

We're doing things.

Speaker C:

I don't know how I didn't get, like, super and super, like, oh, my God, buddy.

Speaker C:

The first time.

Speaker C:

I think I probably really liked it, but, like, I was so on the outskirts of that fandom.

Speaker C:

I didn't really, like, have a point of entry necessarily fair.

Speaker C:

So.

Speaker C:

So it was like a me experiencing it on my own, which is not my preference.

Speaker C:

I like to.

Speaker C:

I like to share experiences.

Speaker C:

So when you guys were getting into it, I was like, ah, yes, now I can talk to somebody about it and get crazier about it.

Speaker C:

Which I'm glad.

Speaker C:

Very glad.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

What's your history with podcasting in general?

Speaker B:

Nada.

Speaker B:

Just listening to it.

Speaker C:

Nothing.

Speaker A:

No, that's just me.

Speaker A:

I have, like, a technical degree in audio engineering from, like, a million years ago.

Speaker C:

It was.

Speaker A:

It was a while ago.

Speaker A:

It's from my early 20s, but, yeah.

Speaker A:

And my friends.

Speaker A:

ring the pandemic, started in:

Speaker A:

And I did.

Speaker A:

So I edited that for the almost five full years that they did that podcast.

Speaker A:

There's a hundred episodes up where they sort fictional characters to Hogwarts houses.

Speaker A:

And it's like, you know, it's character analysis, but, like, through the lens of that.

Speaker A:

So that was kind of like my podcasting experience.

Speaker A:

I also was in school finishing up my degree, my bachelor's degree, when we started this podcast.

Speaker A:

It was my.

Speaker A:

Graduated three months.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

For media communications.

Speaker A:

And one of the focuses was, like, audio and video and, well, all of the stuff we do.

Speaker A:

For this.

Speaker A:

So, like, marketing and promo and like, all of the stuff.

Speaker A:

But, like, my goal, my end goal was to, like, work in podcasts and then eventually, like, start my own, like, podcast.

Speaker A:

What is the word I'm looking for?

Speaker C:

Empire.

Speaker A:

Sure.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

My, like, my company, which is just me, is called Nerd Virgin, like neurodivergent and, and nerd.

Speaker A:

And I wanted to do podcasts about, like, nerdy things and neurodivergent things and like, mental health and like, kind of combine them.

Speaker A:

So there were other things planned before this, but then this, this was put on my plate and I was like, cool, great.

Speaker A:

And I can't do anything in half measures.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

Yep, yep, that's the experience.

Speaker C:

Which kind of, that kind of goes into the next question, which is, out of all of our fandoms over the years, why did we decide to commit to podcasting about this one?

Speaker C:

And I know we, we'd been talking about doing like a Marvel podcast for like, a long time, and it never happened.

Speaker B:

And this had a lot of podcasts planned.

Speaker B:

I just came in here with a steel chair and said, this is the one we're doing.

Speaker A:

Nikki and I have like four episodes of our ADHD podcast recorded.

Speaker A:

That is the, the longest running joke is that we've had an ADHD podcast planned for like the past four years.

Speaker C:

So, like, why did we decide to commit to podcasting about this one?

Speaker B:

I mean, for me, from.

Speaker B:

It's usually our four hour yapathon about like, these characters.

Speaker B:

And yes, we were like, we might as well just record it and, and like, for posterity.

Speaker B:

For posterity.

Speaker B:

And like, I think I, I, I was interested in doing a podcast, but I was kind of like, also, like, honestly, this is kind of like exposure therapy for me because.

Speaker B:

Or some kind of therapy for me because, like, I don't really like to talk anyway.

Speaker B:

And yet here I am yapping.

Speaker C:

You're doing such a good job.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think I, I think I just wanted to find some creative outlet where I can talk about the things that I like.

Speaker B:

So this helped a lot.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

And, and for 911 specifically, I think, because we all started watching it around.

Speaker B:

The same time when it started blowing up basically, again.

Speaker B:

Re.

Speaker B:

Blowing up.

Speaker C:

Yeah, we hyper fixated.

Speaker C:

Like, the three of us hype individually, but also collectively hyper fixated on this so hard also because it's like what everybody was talking about, but we really found that, like, I mean, we, we say this, I think, in the intro for every episode, like it's a, like a genre procedural show.

Speaker C:

But if you actually look at it, there's so much more under the surface.

Speaker C:

And we always talk about, like, character analysis.

Speaker C:

That's just what we do anyways.

Speaker C:

And.

Speaker C:

And with Nikki, who's guest hosted our 302 episode, like, the four of us talk about characters literally all the time.

Speaker C:

And I think we found, like, there was just so much more to the characters of 911 that, like, one would expect from a network person procedural.

Speaker C:

And we were like, we have to, like, talk about this more because it's so.

Speaker C:

There's so much more depth to it.

Speaker A:

There's a lot of thought and follow through, a lot of really good, like, callbacks.

Speaker A:

There's a lot of stuff in the show that they do so well, but they do not do well in other shows.

Speaker A:

It also just seems like the people writing the show know the characters consistently and care about the show, so that's.

Speaker C:

They like the show that they're doing.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

The actors watch the show, so they know their characters not just by, like.

Speaker C:

What is on the page.

Speaker A:

On the page, but, like, what the story is after everything comes together.

Speaker A:

So I think they're, you know, just to expand on what Rachel said, there was just so much here to talk about, like, more than what we would usually talk about with things.

Speaker A:

Because, of course, in any media that you're going to watch, like movie, tv, whatever, there are layers of things to, like, peel back.

Speaker A:

But there was just so much here that was so much fun for us to talk about.

Speaker C:

Surprising amount of layers.

Speaker A:

Yeah, Just, like, with characters, with production, with themes.

Speaker A:

And then I really was like, oh, we get to look.

Speaker A:

Go back and rewatch all of this.

Speaker A:

Looking at queer coding and talking about that, which I love talking about.

Speaker C:

That's how it came to be.

Speaker B:

What is your favorite segment to record each episode and why?

Speaker C:

I mean, I'm pretty sure it's all of ours.

Speaker C:

Right.

Speaker B:

Slow Burn.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Or.

Speaker B:

Or Buck and Eddie.

Speaker B:

Slow Burned.

Speaker B:

Buck and Eddie.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's the.

Speaker A:

The Eddie sections into Slow Burn.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Just hands down, we love all the characters, but, like, come on, we're called the bike system for a reason.

Speaker A:

For a reason.

Speaker C:

Yeah, it's.

Speaker C:

It's Slow Burn.

Speaker C:

I like putting together my little Jaws of Life sections.

Speaker C:

That's more for my enjoyment.

Speaker B:

I was gonna say my favorite segment is the segment that no one gets to see unless you're subscribed to Patreon.

Speaker B:

Just the bloopers.

Speaker A:

Oh, gosh.

Speaker B:

Which we haven't uploaded, I think, in a while, so never mind.

Speaker A:

No, we really need to.

Speaker A:

Oh, my God.

Speaker A:

Approximately how much time in any given week are you thinking about or working on something related to this podcast?

Speaker C:

Too much.

Speaker B:

Too many.

Speaker A:

I don't think you want the answer.

Speaker A:

I don't want the answer to that.

Speaker C:

How many hours are in a week?

Speaker C:

Can someone do that math?

Speaker A:

No, just working on the podcast.

Speaker A:

So like we try to record once a week and that's about two hours of minimum for me because I watch the episode twice, at least twice.

Speaker A:

And then I like the second time I'm pausing a lot, rewinding a lot to like different things.

Speaker A:

I don't take notes.

Speaker A:

So like that's how I for it.

Speaker C:

That slows me down.

Speaker A:

So that's two hours prep for that.

Speaker A:

Then like actually just like physically getting ready and then recording.

Speaker A:

So that's two, three, seven.

Speaker C:

That's four.

Speaker A:

That's like seven hours right there.

Speaker A:

Just for the recording an episode.

Speaker A:

Then we have, then we have three to.

Speaker A:

No, because I put, because I edit the audio and put the episode together most of the time.

Speaker A:

And that is three hours.

Speaker A:

Two to three hours.

Speaker A:

And then we edit.

Speaker A:

Then we split it equally editing that and like for me that's two to four hours.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So I don't even know what I'm at.

Speaker A:

It's a lot.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

And then I'm doing.

Speaker A:

And then we do the social media and the fucking.

Speaker C:

Yeah, and I do the, the social media scheduling which is like all the tagging and.

Speaker C:

And we do the copy together and.

Speaker C:

And then I have to like whip up show notes.

Speaker C:

Oh, and the show notes.

Speaker C:

And then I whip up like a graphic for the week and animate that.

Speaker C:

The animating the graphics take a long time because Canva love hate relationship with Canva.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker C:

Like I do the timing manually.

Speaker A:

Basically.

Speaker A:

I call it an unpaid second full time job.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Technically we are making money on Patreon, but we haven't even broke even on our expenses yet.

Speaker C:

So if you would like to support us, consider subscribing to us on Patreon.

Speaker A:

That for a plug now.

Speaker A:

That's, that's just working on it.

Speaker A:

If you thinking about it all the time.

Speaker C:

Oh yeah, we're thinking about 91 1.

Speaker C:

Literally.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then just intrinsically, if we're thinking about 91 1, we're also adjacently thinking about the podcast because we're thinking about.

Speaker A:

How can we talk about this on the podcast?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

So tldr every waking moment and sometimes in sleeping moments.

Speaker A:

That's why we really appreciate that you listen to us today.

Speaker C:

Thank you.

Speaker C:

This section is specifically about 91 1.

Speaker C:

Not so much like, podcasting stuff, like behind the curtain.

Speaker C:

So about 91 1, what would you consider to be the most representative episode of the show?

Speaker C:

Like, a single episode that you feel.

Speaker C:

That you feel really captures the spirit of 91 1.

Speaker B:

Rachel, just say it.

Speaker A:

I hate you.

Speaker C:

Actually, I think dosed.

Speaker C:

That's what.

Speaker C:

That's what I would say.

Speaker C:

You thought I was gonna say stuck?

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think I'm the one on the live stream heard you say stuck.

Speaker C:

I know It's.

Speaker C:

It's between those two.

Speaker C:

I honestly, I think.

Speaker C:

I think ghost.

Speaker C:

I think it's such a fantastic ensemble episode, and it's a weird one because you see characters act in ways that they don't usually, but I feel like that also gives you a really good clue into them if you've never seen these characters before.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker C:

And it's just a fantastic episode.

Speaker C:

I think that one was written by Juan Carlos Cotto.

Speaker C:

I.

Speaker C:

I just.

Speaker C:

I just.

Speaker C:

I think about that episode so much.

Speaker C:

I love Dost.

Speaker C:

I.

Speaker C:

I go back to that all.

Speaker A:

The time, just off the top of my head, and I hate to say it, because that character's in it, but.

Speaker A:

3:18, what's next?

Speaker A:

Also written by Juan Carlos Coto and Kristin Rydell.

Speaker A:

Directed by Jennifer Lynch.

Speaker A:

I just think that's a.

Speaker A:

It is a good ensemble episode.

Speaker C:

I like.

Speaker A:

It's a really good season finale.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And I think you touch on every character.

Speaker A:

You get to see, like, the spirit of, like, their connection.

Speaker A:

And then I really like the ending of it where it's, like, them all together as a family, talking about how they're a family that they choose.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker C:

Found family.

Speaker C:

I love that.

Speaker B:

I can't.

Speaker B:

Let's see, off the top of my head, I haven't really put too much.

Speaker A:

Thought of it on.

Speaker B:

On this.

Speaker C:

Just one of the first ones that come to mind.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna.

Speaker B:

I'm just gonna go ahead and say 218.

Speaker B:

I think it captures, like, you know, the fire fam.

Speaker B:

Coming together, helping each other out, being there, supporting each other.

Speaker B:

You know, that kind of.

Speaker B:

That kind of stuff.

Speaker B:

Really?

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

That's a.

Speaker C:

That's a good pick, too.

Speaker C:

And, I mean, I think because both of you chose finales, I mean, I think that that ends up being very emblematic of.

Speaker C:

Of:

Speaker C:

So that makes sense.

Speaker B:

Here we go.

Speaker B:

Which character do you think has had the best written arc over the course of the show thus far?

Speaker C:

Ooh, that's a Hard question, Jill.

Speaker A:

It's Buck or Bobby.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna go with Buck.

Speaker B:

It doesn't say why, so I'm gonna leave it at that.

Speaker A:

I like, I want to say a buck, but like, the shit that they did to him in six.

Speaker B:

Well, at least he's still alive.

Speaker A:

He is still alive, but like, I don't know.

Speaker A:

I mean, I guess he went places, so.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I guess book he's had the most growth.

Speaker C:

I'm gonna say Bobby because he's dead, because we get that.

Speaker C:

I wasn't gonna say that he was alive.

Speaker C:

I was just gonna say that he has a.

Speaker A:

It's because he's dead.

Speaker B:

If he wasn't dead, you wouldn't say complete.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker C:

I know you would say buck if he was alive.

Speaker C:

No, I mean, honestly, I.

Speaker C:

I really.

Speaker C:

Even.

Speaker C:

Even before, like, the 8:15 stuff, I really feel like Bobby we've seen grow so much and I think in a lot of subtle ways as well.

Speaker C:

And before the 8:15 of it all, I really liked how he started in one place and you could see his growth and his, like, upwards trajectory for, like, him living the life that he wanted to and making the.

Speaker C:

The family that he wanted and.

Speaker C:

And allowing himself to have all of that.

Speaker C:

So I really love that aspect of, like, started at the bottom, now we're here sort of thing.

Speaker C:

But including, like the 815, 816, all that stuff, then it.

Speaker C:

Then it becomes like a full circle, like ouroboros thing.

Speaker C:

I can appreciate that.

Speaker C:

I like the first aspect better, but that's all I'll say about that.

Speaker A:

Jill wrote low key stealing this from the E.

Speaker A:

T.

Speaker A:

Interview.

Speaker A:

Why are you so obsessed with this?

Speaker C:

Why you?

Speaker C:

So.

Speaker B:

I can't answer this seriously right now.

Speaker C:

Don't answer it seriously.

Speaker C:

I mean, it's silly.

Speaker B:

I will answer it seriously because this is who I am.

Speaker B:

I'm obsessed with this ship because of how you can clearly see, like, these two guys, like, they are pretty much made for each other.

Speaker B:

They care for each other.

Speaker B:

They do a lot for each other.

Speaker B:

And then like, their individual stories too, like, they just.

Speaker B:

They just fit so seamlessly together.

Speaker B:

They both have learned and grow and have grown from each other.

Speaker B:

And I think that it's really beautiful, like, what they.

Speaker B:

What they mean to each other as well.

Speaker B:

I feel like this is such a flowery answer, but, like.

Speaker B:

But it's true, so.

Speaker B:

And I just want both of them to be happy and be with, like, their partner that have, you know, they have each other's back and all of that.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

And yeah, Those are my two cents.

Speaker C:

Yeah, I'm.

Speaker C:

I'm just a sucker for two characters who, like, are just so drawn to the other.

Speaker C:

Like, it surpasses, so.

Speaker B:

Transcends.

Speaker C:

Yes, it transcends.

Speaker C:

Like, I.

Speaker C:

And I'm sorry, I'm going to use, like, the.

Speaker C:

Like the Dean and Cassia, like, profound bond sort of thing.

Speaker C:

Like.

Speaker C:

Like with Dean and Cass, they transcended destiny and fate.

Speaker C:

And I feel like Buck and Eddie have that.

Speaker C:

I mean, not quite so, like, cosmically, because this isn't supernatural, but just like the.

Speaker C:

The way the characters are built are just like.

Speaker C:

They're perfect.

Speaker C:

Matching pieces to the other.

Speaker C:

Like, everything that they are searching for, the other has.

Speaker C:

And that goes both ways.

Speaker C:

And it's just like something about that ant and how they've written their bond and their relationship throughout the seasons.

Speaker C:

It's just.

Speaker C:

It's just one of those big things, like, larger than life.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

It transcends.

Speaker C:

That's me.

Speaker A:

I think I'm just a sucker for.

Speaker A:

People who are broken, feel like they're broken.

Speaker A:

You know what I mean?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Finding someone who makes them feel like they aren't broken.

Speaker A:

Finding someone who sees them for who they really are and not all of the things that the world has made them feel like they are or told them they are.

Speaker A:

They just really see each other.

Speaker A:

That's like they.

Speaker A:

They see each other and they've built.

Speaker A:

They have built a family together.

Speaker A:

Like, it's just.

Speaker A:

It just makes sense.

Speaker A:

They're already dating, so they just, like.

Speaker B:

Should kiss, like, yesterday anyway.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And stop trying to.

Speaker A:

To date other people and terrorizing.

Speaker A:

Be miserable because they have never once been in a relationship and been happy on the screen.

Speaker A:

So, like, it just.

Speaker A:

I don't know, it just makes sense.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

I'm obsessed with it because, like, it's a slow burn and there's a lot of queer coding in there, individually and as a couple.

Speaker A:

It's insane.

Speaker A:

Showrunner says they're an old married couple.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker C:

Describe your ideal Gay Eddie Episode a la 704 for Bye, Buck.

Speaker C:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I don't know if it's worth saying because it's never gonna happen for me.

Speaker C:

I'll literally take anything.

Speaker C:

Maybe a conversation with the priest.

Speaker C:

Like.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

You know, run back on the.

Speaker A:

On the juice thing and just want it to happen.

Speaker C:

I'm fine with anything.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Really, I have.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker B:

I can't think too much of it.

Speaker B:

It's one of those things where I'm like, if I think too much of it and I Have, like, this ideal scenario in my head, and they don't.

Speaker A:

And then it doesn't happen.

Speaker B:

It's just gonna be disappointing.

Speaker B:

So I'm kind of here for the ride.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Good job for.

Speaker A:

For Bucks.

Speaker A:

Like, Bucks was very buck.

Speaker A:

So I'm hoping.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And giving.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Giving faith to the writers who were very consistent with these characters.

Speaker A:

As long as it's on screen, I think it'll be good.

Speaker B:

That's all we ask.

Speaker B:

On screen.

Speaker B:

Literally on screen.

Speaker A:

Anyway, given that we've been lacking them lately.

Speaker A:

What is the best Eddie A plot, in your opinion?

Speaker C:

Oh, God, that's savage.

Speaker B:

I mean, isn't it five from season eight or season five?

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker B:

Something from season five.

Speaker B:

I really enjoy Mayday and I.

Speaker B:

Yeah, what's the other one that I enjoy?

Speaker B:

I enjoy Mayday and I.

Speaker B:

And I mean, I can't.

Speaker B:

Again, I don't even know who's A plot or B plot or anything, especially in these earlier seasons because I haven't rewatched them in a while.

Speaker B:

But I do like.

Speaker B:

I do like what happens in Mayday and I do like the Fizzy Water episode.

Speaker C:

Oh, I love Brawl and cell block 911.

Speaker C:

That is my.

Speaker C:

One of my faves.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

I think.

Speaker C:

I think probably anything like.

Speaker C:

I don't know if it's episodic or.

Speaker C:

Or just like season wide, because I think season five is very kind of Eddie centric in a lot of ways because it immediately comes after the shooting arc.

Speaker C:

So there's a lot of emphasis on that and we get some of those really good emphasis episodes like Mayday and Brawl and the panic attacks.

Speaker C:

Right.

Speaker C:

And everything.

Speaker C:

So I think, like, season five would be the best Eddie arc.

Speaker C:

Like, season wide episode.

Speaker A:

I don't think I have to watch more.

Speaker C:

That's how I interpreted the question.

Speaker A:

I think she meant episode.

Speaker A:

Like, what episode is the best Eddie A plot.

Speaker A:

There's a lack of Eddie A plot in episodes.

Speaker C:

And I'm going to say Eddie begins.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I feel like there should be a disclaimer that says, yeah, no, do not use the Beginnings episode.

Speaker C:

I gotta get my.

Speaker C:

Well, reference in somehow.

Speaker A:

What episode is the Panic Attack?

Speaker C:

Europhobia.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

I think that's.

Speaker A:

I think that's his best one.

Speaker C:

For me, that's what I immediately thought of.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Along the same lines, what is the best Buck A plot, in your opinion?

Speaker B:

Damn it.

Speaker B:

I can't pick.

Speaker B:

No, it's the one prior to that.

Speaker B:

I just don't remember what it's called.

Speaker B:

So 404.

Speaker C:

I can look that up for you whatever.

Speaker C:

404 was 91 1.

Speaker C:

What's your grievance?

Speaker B:

I don't.

Speaker B:

Again, I don't know who's A plot, B plot, C plot, But I do enjoy 91 1.

Speaker B:

What's your grievance?

Speaker B:

So season four, episode four, because of, like, the catharsis of, like, I mean, we find out, we.

Speaker B:

We meet Buck's parents, and then we see Buck have his moment of.

Speaker B:

Of saying what he needs to say to his parents who have also, like, treated him so badly.

Speaker B:

So I do enjoy that one.

Speaker C:

That's a good one.

Speaker A:

And you go, no.

Speaker A:

My answer is going to have Alexa disowning me.

Speaker B:

So also a good one.

Speaker B:

We know what it is.

Speaker C:

Which one is it?

Speaker A:

Six in another life.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

I think it's one of his best.

Speaker A:

I don't know if it's the best.

Speaker A:

I think it's like, listen, one of our friends and listeners really dislikes this episode because of all the lost potential because of not having Eddie in.

Speaker A:

And I totally agree that there's a lot of lost potential in that episode and, like, the, you know.

Speaker A:

You know, subsequent episodes.

Speaker A:

But I just think it's such a good.

Speaker A:

Like, I love being in his psyche and, like, literally seeing, like, what his worst nightmare is.

Speaker A:

And I think the complete lack of Eddie speaks hugely to that.

Speaker A:

I just love that.

Speaker A:

It's just like, him going through therapy with himself, and then he chooses to come back for himself.

Speaker A:

He's like, no, like, I'm going back.

Speaker A:

Like, for me, like, I was just Buck and that was enough.

Speaker A:

It makes me cry every time.

Speaker C:

Yeah, it's so good.

Speaker C:

I'm.

Speaker C:

I'm kind of torn between, like, the very obvious 704.

Speaker C:

Bothered?

Speaker C:

Bewildered?

Speaker A:

No, I was thinking of 704 and 811.

Speaker C:

Oh, that one's so good.

Speaker C:

I was also thinking, like, just, like, the tsunami arc.

Speaker C:

Just, like, crunch those together.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

That.

Speaker A:

It's just very Buck favorite half of a season.

Speaker B:

And this is our lightning round.

Speaker A:

This is lightning round, so no expanding.

Speaker C:

It's so weird because I don't think of them in, like, half seasons sort of thing.

Speaker B:

I think the only one that I can think of, half seasons, is season eight because it's our first, like.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Live.

Speaker B:

And if I had to pick that one.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

Rachel, you pick something.

Speaker C:

I think I.

Speaker C:

I gotta go with, like, 2A.

Speaker C:

Everything I I think of comes back to that.

Speaker B:

Okay, Okay, I see your.

Speaker B:

Your 2A.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna go with 3A.

Speaker B:

No, no, I'm not gonna go with 3A.

Speaker B:

I'll go with 5B.

Speaker C:

Nice.

Speaker A:

4A.

Speaker C:

Ooh, also good ones.

Speaker A:

Or do I want 4A or 4B?

Speaker B:

It did be hard.

Speaker B:

Or do I want 5A?

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker C:

How am I the one who can make decisions today?

Speaker A:

4A.

Speaker A:

Okay, Lightning.

Speaker A:

Next one.

Speaker A:

Read it, Rachel.

Speaker C:

Favorite episode, name or title, regardless of the episode contents.

Speaker B:

Oh, Buck, bother.

Speaker A:

Bewildered.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's the funniest.

Speaker C:

That's the best one.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's the best one.

Speaker B:

I think we're all in agreement.

Speaker B:

Next, favorite side or reoccurring character?

Speaker A:

Karen.

Speaker C:

I can.

Speaker C:

She's a main.

Speaker C:

In my heart, she's a side character.

Speaker A:

It's Karen.

Speaker B:

Yeah, Karen.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then Josh, favorite non buddy centric episode.

Speaker C:

Like, what are those?

Speaker C:

What are those?

Speaker A:

Like, I literally.

Speaker C:

I was like, huh, did not compute.

Speaker C:

If you saw like the buffering.

Speaker B:

Oh, shit.

Speaker B:

What are those?

Speaker A:

Is Buck begins buddy centric.

Speaker C:

We made it buddy centric.

Speaker B:

You didn't make it buddy centric.

Speaker A:

You can make anything buddy centric.

Speaker B:

I'm like trying to find an episode that didn't center or can't or I can't make it buddy centric.

Speaker C:

It's got to be a begins episode.

Speaker A:

What are episodes?

Speaker A:

It isn't in.

Speaker B:

Oh, there's a.

Speaker B:

There's a list.

Speaker B:

Oh, wait, no, no.

Speaker B:

That is a buddy episode.

Speaker C:

This is not our strong suit.

Speaker A:

Technically.

Speaker A:

8 11.

Speaker A:

Oh, hey, you know what?

Speaker B:

Eccentric has to be a fight.

Speaker B:

It has to be a favorite too.

Speaker B:

Damn.

Speaker B:

I was gonna say like the contagion.

Speaker A:

Bro.

Speaker A:

I got.

Speaker A:

What are non buddy centric episodes?

Speaker C:

The problem with us as the buddy system having everything slow burn section is so we can make a.

Speaker C:

An episode that's not about buddy.

Speaker C:

About Buddy in some way.

Speaker C:

Is it my turn to read in.

Speaker C:

In our minds, it's all buddy.

Speaker C:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Favorite rare scene partners combo.

Speaker C:

Eddie and Karen and Hen.

Speaker C:

More of that.

Speaker B:

Eddie and Chimney.

Speaker B:

Ooh, no.

Speaker B:

Eddie and Hen.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

Eddie and Chimney.

Speaker B:

Eddie and Chimney.

Speaker B:

Because you already said Eddie, Hen and Karen there.

Speaker A:

Eddie and May.

Speaker C:

I would say Eddie and Maddie, but we haven't seen that yet.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker C:

If we saw one then like that would be it.

Speaker C:

Do you think the show will actually do anything fun or special in episode 9 11?

Speaker C:

No, 91 1.

Speaker B:

No, I don't.

Speaker C:

I think they will celebrate it like the behind the scenes stuff that like they did for 8 11, which was 118 backwards, unfortunately.

Speaker A:

I fear we could be getting a two parter or something.

Speaker A:

So maybe.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I mean that would probably be.

Speaker C:

Yeah, like the second or third episode from A mid season premiere.

Speaker C:

So like it'll be a lot, whatever it is.

Speaker C:

I don't know if it'll be fun, but it'll be something.

Speaker B:

Pitch your dream bottle episode for Season 9 Q Word.

Speaker C:

They're in the station the whole time.

Speaker C:

We get to see the bunks, we get to see everything.

Speaker C:

Like just them in the station.

Speaker C:

Nothing happens.

Speaker C:

It's great.

Speaker C:

They get to eat all of their meals together.

Speaker C:

They get to go on phone calls and FaceTimes with the families and everybody else pops in and ideally it happens.

Speaker A:

Because Buck and Eddie are in a secret relationship and Chimney finds out and then he has to keep the secret the whole time.

Speaker A:

That's not an original idea.

Speaker A:

Like fandom came up with this and I went, yes.

Speaker A:

Stamp of approval.

Speaker A:

Co signed.

Speaker C:

As it goes through the episode, he's like losing it more and more like.

Speaker A:

And like Buck and Eddie keep shoving him into like closets.

Speaker A:

Keep your mouth shut.

Speaker A:

I just think it'd be really funny.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I don't.

Speaker B:

I don't really think I've thought of a bottle episode.

Speaker B:

ndie engine Ella supernatural:

Speaker A:

Oh, that would be really cool.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I would.

Speaker C:

That would be amazing.

Speaker C:

Yes, please.

Speaker B:

I think we haven't.

Speaker B:

I think one of the things that these later seasons have lacked was like conversations as they're going to calls.

Speaker B:

Like we don't really see that anymore.

Speaker B:

So it'd be nice to kind of bring that back.

Speaker A:

Picture Ravi begins episode for season nine.

Speaker C:

I don't want to think about Ravi begins because that's going to be painful.

Speaker B:

It's going to be painful because of the cancer.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Well, it's going to be him as an adult.

Speaker A:

That's how he became a firefighter.

Speaker C:

So.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

Obviously he was in real estate before this.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

I just want to see like do.

Speaker A:

One of his properties catch fire maybe?

Speaker C:

I just want to see him outside the 118.

Speaker C:

Oh yeah, that's it.

Speaker C:

That's it.

Speaker C:

Lightning pitch.

Speaker C:

Like, like what he does now outside of the 118 and like prior to getting into the.

Speaker B:

Being a landlord, he's got a down.

Speaker B:

His tenants, if they're not paying.

Speaker C:

I want to see his friends, his family, how his.

Speaker C:

How his parents or guardians or whoever reacted to him deciding to become a firefighter.

Speaker C:

You know, after his experiences with.

Speaker C:

With childhood cancer.

Speaker C:

I just want to see his life outside, like outside of the 118.

Speaker C:

I don't want him to.

Speaker C:

I don't want to see him go into the station.

Speaker C:

They can.

Speaker C:

He can maybe like meet up with everybody for like some karaoke.

Speaker A:

But then we just like station.

Speaker A:

They didn't even do a completely outside begins for Eddie or Buck.

Speaker A:

They're not going to do that for.

Speaker C:

This is my pitch.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Studio rejected it.

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker A:

Lightning round.

Speaker A:

Personal questions.

Speaker A:

What's your favorite TV show and or movie outside 91 1.

Speaker A:

Of course.

Speaker C:

Okay, everybody go watch Black Sails right now.

Speaker C:

It's the best piece of media on the entire planet.

Speaker C:

It's about gay pirates.

Speaker C:

Need I say more?

Speaker C:

There you go.

Speaker A:

Jesus Christ.

Speaker C:

What is my favorite movie?

Speaker B:

I don't have a favorite movie.

Speaker B:

It's something Tony Stark related.

Speaker B:

Done.

Speaker A:

Deadpool.

Speaker A:

Deadpool 2.

Speaker A:

Deadpool 1 and 2.

Speaker A:

Actually, any.

Speaker A:

Any minor inconvenience.

Speaker A:

I'm putting on Deadpool 1 and 2.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Anything Tony Stark plus Deadpool and Wolverine.

Speaker B:

I forgot that was like my comfort movie for so, so many months.

Speaker C:

What is your favorite thing to do?

Speaker C:

I guess besides the podcast?

Speaker A:

Read fanfic, do art, go to the movies.

Speaker B:

What's your favorite food?

Speaker C:

Potatoes.

Speaker C:

Any form.

Speaker A:

Give me a potato.

Speaker C:

I am a potato.

Speaker C:

Like spiritually.

Speaker A:

Just.

Speaker C:

Just.

Speaker A:

Just like Asian and Gen.

Speaker A:

Thai, Vietnamese.

Speaker A:

Like literally just any Asian food.

Speaker C:

If we're going genres than Mexican.

Speaker B:

I was gonna say Latin food, particularly Mexican.

Speaker B:

And my Peruvian food.

Speaker A:

Favorite animal?

Speaker C:

Dolphin.

Speaker B:

Big cat.

Speaker B:

For some reason.

Speaker B:

I know I have a dog, but I like big cat.

Speaker B:

I think tiger.

Speaker B:

A tiger.

Speaker A:

I love bats.

Speaker C:

I didn't know this.

Speaker A:

I will watch videos of bats, especially baby bats, and just cry because they're so cute.

Speaker C:

What's one thing about you that people don't know or wouldn't expect?

Speaker C:

I feel like I'm pretty.

Speaker B:

I mean, it's.

Speaker B:

Well, do.

Speaker B:

Are we talking about, like, IRLs or are we talking about podcast people?

Speaker B:

Oh, wait.

Speaker A:

The people who are listening.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

I crochet.

Speaker B:

I guess podcast people don't know that.

Speaker B:

Unless maybe you maybe blink if you missed it.

Speaker B:

You probably saw me once do it once.

Speaker C:

Phil's really good at crochet.

Speaker B:

She gets really tired.

Speaker C:

You made your own Yoda?

Speaker B:

I sure did.

Speaker C:

It was amazing.

Speaker B:

I think after that I was like, all right, life is complete.

Speaker B:

I'm not doing anymore.

Speaker B:

I did some more after that, but I think that was like my bigger project that I did.

Speaker A:

Complete.

Speaker A:

I talked about how I was a former emo kid.

Speaker B:

Either that or you're a hipster.

Speaker A:

Both.

Speaker A:

The pipeline.

Speaker A:

The Venn diagram's a circle.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker C:

I bake and is also an excellent baker.

Speaker B:

She's a good baker.

Speaker B:

She made us cookies.

Speaker C:

They were delicious.

Speaker B:

They were really good.

Speaker C:

People know I.

Speaker C:

I do art.

Speaker C:

Don't know.

Speaker C:

Or when I expect.

Speaker C:

I'm a huge baseball fan.

Speaker C:

I love baseball.

Speaker C:

I love the sports ball.

Speaker C:

But, like, unironically, I actually, like, love baseball so much.

Speaker C:

I am a Boston Red Sox fan.

Speaker C:

My dad was born and raised in New England, so I inherited it by blood.

Speaker A:

That's how sports teams work.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

So it's hereditary.

Speaker C:

And if.

Speaker C:

And if you see me, if you observe me watching a game, I mean, this isn't surprising, but I don't shut up then either.

Speaker C:

I get really into it.

Speaker C:

I do my own color commentary at the.

Speaker C:

At the TV and the commentators, so.

Speaker B:

Sure, though.

Speaker C:

Not that that part isn't expected, but.

Speaker C:

Big baseball person.

Speaker B:

How would you describe your ideal day off?

Speaker C:

Reading fic or so.

Speaker B:

Reading fic for me.

Speaker B:

Sleeping, relaxing.

Speaker C:

Maybe watching a movie with you guys.

Speaker A:

I talk to no one all day.

Speaker A:

No one.

Speaker A:

I talk to T.J.

Speaker A:

yes.

Speaker A:

Oh, I talk to no one.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And I read fan fiction for, like, half of the day.

Speaker A:

And then the second half of the day, I sneak my favorite food into the movies.

Speaker B:

Ooh, that is a good one.

Speaker B:

I feel like it's similar.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I, too, would like to be uninterrupted for a day.

Speaker B:

I just have a lot of people in this house.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean, I love my partner so much, but I'm an introvert and I need time.

Speaker A:

Hello.

Speaker B:

That social battery needs to.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, I get it.

Speaker A:

Some days you just don't want to talk just, like, at all.

Speaker C:

I need to.

Speaker C:

I need to spend time with someone.

Speaker A:

So sorry for you.

Speaker C:

It's okay.

Speaker C:

So.

Speaker C:

So either, like, read fic for half the day, watch movies, the other half, preferably with other people.

Speaker A:

Our ideal days are happening on different days.

Speaker A:

Any other day other than that, I'm happy to watch things with you and talk to you.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker C:

You guys can.

Speaker C:

We can have the same day as our.

Speaker C:

Our ideal day.

Speaker C:

I'll just bother my dad and sit him down to, like, watch something.

Speaker A:

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

Speaker B:

I'm sorry, who has given.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

Mine is either from my dad, who told me when I was, like, five to not give a shit about what other people think of you, and that stuck with me.

Speaker A:

Or my therapist, who, like, is the MVP of getting me to stop being a people pleaser.

Speaker A:

It was basically just like, you have to put yourself first because no one else is going to.

Speaker B:

I feel like any piece of advice that I have given and that has stuck with me for years or so.

Speaker B:

I feel like there has been a negative side effect to it, even though, like, it has come probably from a place of love.

Speaker B:

But I just.

Speaker B:

A lot of.

Speaker B:

A lot of mine is try to conceal, don't feel.

Speaker B:

But in.

Speaker B:

That's not good advice.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

But I mean, like, I think it's during the actual active situation, not, like, taking a moment for yourself.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

It's just.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

That's why I'm saying I can't recall, like, any good advice from anyone right now.

Speaker A:

I feel like I've given you good advice.

Speaker B:

I can't even recall it.

Speaker A:

I can't either.

Speaker A:

But I know that I've given you lots of advice.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Normally about, like, not being friends with horrible people.

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

Real life.

Speaker B:

Those people.

Speaker A:

Or ADHD things.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You can keep that in.

Speaker B:

I don't care.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

I mean, I don't think this has.

Speaker B:

This was like a verbatim from anyone, but I think, like, when I was going through a pretty tough time, I think it was like, maybe a year ago or maybe two years ago.

Speaker B:

It was about two years ago now.

Speaker B:

You know, cutting people off is very beneficial for your own sanity.

Speaker B:

If there are people that do not serve, you, just cut them off.

Speaker B:

Just do it.

Speaker B:

Just pull the plug.

Speaker B:

Just do it.

Speaker C:

I can't think of any particular piece of advice, but if I.

Speaker C:

If I'm in search of advice, the first person I'm going to is my dad.

Speaker C:

He is a very wise individual.

Speaker C:

And, yeah, I tr.

Speaker C:

I trust any piece.

Speaker C:

Advice of advice that he gives me.

Speaker C:

And if you need.

Speaker C:

If you're seeking some advice, let me know.

Speaker C:

I'll ask my dad.

Speaker C:

He's.

Speaker C:

He's great.

Speaker B:

Co sign.

Speaker C:

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be?

Speaker C:

Art.

Speaker A:

I want to be able to draw so badly.

Speaker B:

I want to be able to.

Speaker B:

I think I want to be able to write better and faster.

Speaker B:

Like, I need the ideas to just come at me and I'm just like, instantly.

Speaker C:

Oops.

Speaker B:

I'm instantly.

Speaker A:

What I just did there.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Off screen.

Speaker A:

Oh, my God.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

I think I would like to instantly be able to master different languages.

Speaker B:

That's good.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

So I can talk.

Speaker A:

There's a theme.

Speaker B:

What's your.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

What's your hidden talent?

Speaker B:

You don't get to show off often.

Speaker A:

I can sing.

Speaker C:

Yeah, you can.

Speaker A:

And no one likes to go to karaoke with me.

Speaker A:

It's very sad.

Speaker B:

I've never done karaoke we should go to karaoke.

Speaker A:

You've never gone to karaoke.

Speaker C:

I mean, I've done.

Speaker C:

I've been to the karaoke at, like, the Supernatural.

Speaker A:

That doesn't count.

Speaker C:

You gotta be able to, like, you.

Speaker A:

Gotta go with friends and drink and.

Speaker C:

Yeah, I've never been, like, a real karaoke and I've never, like, when we're together.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

You guys would be the only people.

Speaker B:

I would do it with.

Speaker B:

Yeah, same.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I'll.

Speaker B:

I'll get drunk.

Speaker B:

It'll be great.

Speaker B:

Let's do it.

Speaker C:

I love it.

Speaker B:

I mean, I don't have another hidden town.

Speaker B:

The hidden talent that I developed was to crochet.

Speaker B:

Like, I developed, like, later in life.

Speaker B:

It was like crocheting.

Speaker B:

The other talent that I have, I guess is baking.

Speaker B:

It's not necessarily hidden.

Speaker B:

I just don't do it as often.

Speaker B:

I usually just do it during, you know, December, the holidays.

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker C:

I don't think I have a hidden talent.

Speaker C:

I think my talents are talking and doing art and that.

Speaker C:

If you would like to see more of my art, let me know.

Speaker C:

I'll take commissions.

Speaker B:

Yeah, she does.

Speaker B:

She does great art and she does take commissions.

Speaker C:

So cocky like that.

Speaker C:

Terrible.

Speaker C:

I'm so sorry.

Speaker A:

She's a fantastic artist.

Speaker A:

Like, I know a million percent.

Speaker B:

She'll do it on canvas.

Speaker A:

I was laughing at the talking.

Speaker A:

Hidden talent is talk.

Speaker A:

Oh, my God.

Speaker B:

I don't.

Speaker C:

No, I don't have a hidden talent.

Speaker C:

I'm good at two things.

Speaker A:

Talking.

Speaker A:

Your hidden talent is your, like, buckipedia.

Speaker C:

Oh, thank you.

Speaker A:

That's like your weird science facts out of nowhere.

Speaker A:

I don't know how you retain all of that.

Speaker C:

Neither do I.

Speaker C:

Thank you.

Speaker A:

What's a hobby or interest you're passionate about outside of work?

Speaker B:

Just like fan fiction.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Hobby or interested and passionate outside of work?

Speaker B:

Yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker B:

I just have to say it's the two gay firefighters, like, whatever hyper fixation that I have, it's whatever I'm hyper fixated at on, and I just want to read about them.

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker B:

I have nothing else.

Speaker B:

I'm boring.

Speaker B:

Oh, I.

Speaker B:

I guess.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm a movie cinephile.

Speaker B:

I like to go to movies.

Speaker B:

I don't fucking know, Mom.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

This is.

Speaker A:

People know this about me, but I'm a Marvel person.

Speaker A:

We're all Marvel and DC when they make good things.

Speaker A:

I like comic books.

Speaker A:

I love comic books and comic book characters.

Speaker B:

What's something on your Bucket list you haven't gotten around to yet.

Speaker C:

Do you actually have, like a written list of buckets?

Speaker A:

Not.

Speaker A:

Not written.

Speaker C:

Take everything I said about me having a talent.

Speaker A:

Oh, my God.

Speaker A:

The one place that I really want to make sure I go to, like, before I, you know.

Speaker A:

Iceland.

Speaker A:

I would really love to go to Iceland because it's freaking gorgeous there and the temperature is something I can handle, so I can go there and enjoy all of the scenery, the hot springs and all of that.

Speaker A:

I also just have, like, never been to Disney World, so, like, I have to do that.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I know.

Speaker A:

My parents used to say that they would take us next year every year, and then they never did.

Speaker A:

And then my dad got remarried and now he goes every year with my stepbrother and sister and stepmom.

Speaker B:

Why don't you go with.

Speaker C:

You go with them?

Speaker A:

I was.

Speaker A:

I've never been invited.

Speaker B:

Well, wow.

Speaker C:

We have something to say about that.

Speaker B:

I already said it.

Speaker A:

I would rather go with you guys too.

Speaker A:

Like, I don't know that I want to go with them.

Speaker A:

And my dad's just gonna be like me, but worse because, like, his body's even more broken, so he's just gonna complain the whole time.

Speaker C:

No.

Speaker C:

One day.

Speaker C:

One day I'll get all of you guys, like, and Nikki down here at the same time and it'll be in like, February and we'll go.

Speaker B:

For me, I mean, yeah, I think it's in the same vein of, like, traveling.

Speaker B:

I've.

Speaker B:

I want to go to Japan, but I also need to do the Europe stuff as well.

Speaker B:

I haven't done any of that.

Speaker B:

I've mostly done Peru.

Speaker B:

I've gone to Peru.

Speaker B:

I've done some Caribbean islands, done various places in the US but the Europe.

Speaker B:

I haven't done anything in Europe.

Speaker A:

I do really want to.

Speaker A:

I want to go to the island that's full of cats, like, specifically.

Speaker A:

And I want to take, like, the high speed train to go there.

Speaker C:

That's your ideal day, honestly.

Speaker A:

Island full of cats?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Let's see.

Speaker C:

I think.

Speaker C:

I think mine is also, like, travel.

Speaker C:

Let's see.

Speaker C:

I went to Ireland when I was like 14 on, like this student ambassador program.

Speaker C:

It was England, Ireland and Wales.

Speaker C:

And I fell in love with Ireland.

Speaker C:

So, like.

Speaker C:

But I've done that.

Speaker C:

But I would love to go to Scotland and revisit Ireland.

Speaker C:

Like, I want to go to Scotland so bad.

Speaker C:

I don't know.

Speaker C:

There was something about going to Ireland.

Speaker C:

It just made my heart sing.

Speaker C:

Just like one of those places where it's like, yes, I belong Here.

Speaker C:

I don't know why, but also to.

Speaker C:

To that extent, I would love to see some of the.

Speaker C:

The big art museums in Europe, like, places in Florence.

Speaker C:

I would love to go to the Louvre.

Speaker C:

I would love to go to, like.

Speaker C:

I can't even think of any of them.

Speaker C:

Like, like the Van Gogh Museum.

Speaker A:

That's in.

Speaker A:

I was just gonna say I need to go to Amsterdam.

Speaker C:

Amsterdam.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's like, the museum for me.

Speaker A:

I'll be there all day.

Speaker C:

Yeah, just like any.

Speaker C:

Any of the European art museums.

Speaker C:

Just, like, get me there.

Speaker C:

Yeah, Yeah.

Speaker A:

I do love Mia Museum.

Speaker C:

Museums are great.

Speaker C:

You gotta do them, right?

Speaker A:

Yeah.
