Or, Does Your Testimony Honor You?

When John the Baptist was confronted by the Scribes and Pharisees, he did not hold back in sharing his testimony about who Jesus was and who he was. I wonder if many in the church have the courage to do that today. John was bold, unashamed, and took every opportunity to tell others about his Lord. Which is pretty much what the Christian Life is supposed to look like.

Consider the passages we will look at today from John.

Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the LORD,” ’ as the prophet Isaiah said” (John 1:22-23).

And then John goes into hyperdrive.

And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose” (John 1:25-27).

Ouch. No one wondered where John stood.

As we continue with our Tuesday night bible study, I hope these prove to be a blessing to you and help grow your faith as we face tough times ahead. After all, we only have one opportunity to give a powerful testimony for Christ, and many opportunities to fail. So choose wisely.
