9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
John. 1 John 1:9. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 9 of 30 Days of Growing. One of those hard, yet essential elements of change is honest confession. It isn’t like God doesn’t know where your issues are—what destructive habits you’re holding onto, what rebellious attitude is buried in your heart—so, the confession isn’t about informing God, it’s about owning up to what’s going on in our lives. Owning that we’re broken—and where we’re falling short of God’s purpose for us, running counter to his beautiful will. Until we own candidly own this reality, the healing and transformation God eagerly holds out to us, is essentially lost on us. I mean, my cupboard could be full of life-saving anti-biotic but if I don’t admit to having a serious bacterial infection, I won’t take the stuff—and it’s life-saving effects will sit bottle-up, unused. So, maybe this year, it’s time to begin with a little confession—maybe even a big one—to God, and those you’re hurting. Open your heart. Let the healing flood in. God’s eager. Promised it. He’s just waiting for you to embrace it!
