Tanya Chapter 41 By Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz Being in Awe of G-D is crucial to a great & complete relationship. 1 type of Awe: you don't want to rebel against G-D The deepest Awe is when it is felt in your heart. A lower level of Awe is when it clear in your mind & thought. By meditating how great G-D is & G-Ds presence is the only true existence & G-D chose each of us & there fore we are willing to "Serve" G-D with Awe. This meditation should be done before you study Torah or do a mitzvah. The meditation should will allow you to feel G-Dliness drawn upon you as you study Torah or do the Mitzvot in all 4 areas of your brain Chochma, Binah & the 2 aspects of Das both the chesed & gevura of Das even though it might not penetrate into your emotions it's considered a complete עבודה as your putting Hashem first at least in your mind. Whereas if you just have אהבה for Hashem your lacking עבודה. As the זהר says כהאי תורא דיהבין עליה עול בקדמיתא בגין לאפקא מיניה טב לעלמא in order to have קדושה you need קבלת עול. If your from the low lever of עשיה so you won't even feel it in your brain since you want to serve Hashem it is considered עבודה as יראה & עבודה are 2 separate Mitzvot the truth even though you don't feel it in your brain it is still considered יראה albeit a lower level one of fear of sin rather then the higher level one of shame. Just to serve Hashem with יראה is not enough one needs אהבה even if it's just in your head as that will allow you to cleave to Hashem. We also have to unify all souls by serving Hashem with a higher level of Love wanting the oneness of Hashem not the love that feels good thereby unifying קודשא בריך הוא & שכינתה even though we don't feel it however our natural love wants what is best to unite all with Hashem as we see that ultimately when our soul leaves our body the soul is united with G-D thru the words of Torah & Mitzvot. As we say every morning in אלקי נשמה we say ואתה עתיד ליטלה ממני so we are planning the oneness or in every blessing as we say ברוך אתה the idea is to be infused in the אתה & we meditate every hour of study as there is a different energy of the name הוי״ה by day & אדנ״י at night. The purpose of the meditation is to elevate the G-Dly spark to its source to make Hashem happy as Hashem as we return from being in captive & in prison. This is a true meditation as we naturally love G-D however we need to spend time to mediate so the intellectual love & Awe as well. Live Tanya Class at Chabad Thursday Evening at 6:30P.M.
