The Psalmist. Psalm 16:11. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 25 of 30 Days of Psalms. For centuries the tale of a Fountain of Youth has been passed along—appearing in writing as early as the 5th Century. Common folks and daring adventurers alike have reveled in its fabled promise. As the grey hairs multiply, the joints stiffen, and the muscles falter our longing for youth-restored increases. Yet Psalm 16 indicates, in a sense, that such a fountain has indeed been found, a “path of life”. It is not a set of rules or practices—but a living person, whose companionship brings overflowing joy and unending pleasure. Now that’s really living. In time, eternal youth is promised—but at its heart is not the gift of an ever-beating heart, rather the gift of eternal fullness and pleasure. A body that never wears out will merely enable us to experience this magnificent delight without ever stopping.
