Beep, CC, and special guest Toni Maggio of television recap blog “Toni Watches” dive deep into episode nine of Netflix kdrama worldwide hit Hometown Cha Cha Cha (starring Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho).
“The past is in the past.” Episode nine explores characters across Gongjin talking in circles as if they are actors in the collection of plays by Eugène Ionesco that Chief Hong is reading. Meeting the parents while pretending to be in a fake relationship raises the possibility of real connection for Chief Hong and Hye-jin. A rewatch deepens the meaning behind Chief Hong’s consideration of whether he is “worthy” of happiness.
Please note that this is a rewatch podcast, so each episode contains spoilers for the entire series. Toni Watches recaps can be found at: https://toniwatches.com/
