Ken spent seven years in jail for manslaughter and was let out early for good behaviour. He left Chicago for New York to a start a new life where nobody knew him. With seventeen dollars in his pocket he tried to get a job but no one would employ him. For some unknown reason he decides to spend $14 on a gun and when he leaves the shop he stops to light a cigarette a notices a big chauffeur driven car pull up. He is shocked when a man gets out of the car and Ken recognises him as Lee Burke the man he had killed seven years ago.
