Shownotes

In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, events have become a vital tool for engagement, growth, and brand visibility. Whether online or in person, events allow businesses to build authentic connections with their audience and drive lasting impact. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Linda Cain, founder of BluDiamond Events, who has over 30 years of experience in event planning. Linda shared her insights on how businesses can leverage events to propel their success.

Meet Linda Cain: The Event Expert with 30 Years of Experience

Linda Cain has been immersed in the world of event planning for over three decades. Starting as a high school catering assistant, Linda quickly found her passion for orchestrating memorable experiences. After years of working with a law firm and eventually starting her own company, BluDiamond Events, she now specializes in hosting events for coaches, authors, speakers, and entrepreneurs. Linda’s experience spans from intimate gatherings to large-scale events with over a thousand attendees, giving her a unique perspective on what makes an event successful.

The Many Types of Events to Engage and Grow Your Audience

Events come in many forms, each tailored to specific goals. Linda outlined the primary types of events her company supports, from enrollment events and retreats to summits and virtual gatherings:

  1. Enrollment Events: These are typically built around a product, course, or coaching program. Participants join for an immersive experience, and hosts often use the event to enroll attendees into a high-ticket offering.
  2. Retreats: Ranging from local to international, retreats offer a unique experience for participants. They can include activities like personal development workshops or group coaching, creating a deeper bond with attendees.
  3. Virtual Events: Since 2020, virtual events have become more popular and accessible, allowing businesses to host anything from webinars to masterclasses. These events offer great scalability and can reach a global audience.
  4. Hybrid Events: For those who want the best of both worlds, hybrid events combine virtual and in-person experiences. While challenging to manage, hybrid events allow hosts to engage with both local and remote participants.

Why Summits Are Effective but Often Misunderstood

Summits are a popular choice for increasing visibility and growing an email list, but Linda highlights that the real benefit often goes to the host. As a speaker, it’s essential to market yourself effectively and bring your audience to the event. Summits help build credibility and connections with other speakers, offering networking benefits that can open doors to future collaborations.

Financial Planning for Events: Budget, ROI, and Profit Potential

A successful event requires a well-thought-out budget. Linda explains that in-person events often carry higher costs than virtual events, but both can be profitable with the right planning. Typical expenses include venue, catering, marketing, and production costs. By managing expenses wisely, virtual events can be hosted for as little as $10,000, while in-person events may require a budget between $25,000 and $50,000, depending on the scale.

Despite these costs, the return on investment can be significant. Linda’s clients often earn between $50,000 and $175,000 in profit from well-planned events. Some hosts have even generated over a million dollars by strategically selling high-ticket offers to engaged attendees.

The Importance of Having a Clear Audience Strategy

When planning an event, Linda emphasizes the importance of having a clear strategy for reaching the right audience. While her team provides event planning and production support, they encourage hosts to leverage their established networks and cultivate relationships with their audience. A successful event isn't just about filling seats; it's about bringing together people who are aligned with the event’s purpose.

VIP Days and Sweet Retreats: Maximizing Client Relationships

Linda also introduced us to VIP days and "sweet retreats," two formats that offer deep value for both hosts and attendees. A VIP day allows clients to spend one-on-one time with the host to achieve specific goals. Sweet retreats, on the other hand, blend coaching, training, and immersive experiences over a weekend. Linda noted that these events create a sense of community among attendees, making them more likely to continue their journey with the host through higher-ticket programs.

Event-Driven Business Models: Building Long-Term Success

Linda's philosophy centers around creating event-driven business models. Rather than treating events as one-off occurrences, she helps clients build repeatable processes. This approach allows them to host multiple events throughout the year—whether virtual, hybrid, or in-person—tailored to their business goals and lifestyle. By refining this model, hosts can create sustainable income streams and strengthen their client relationships.

Key Takeaways for Aspiring Event Hosts

  1. Consider the Right Event Type: Each event format serves a unique purpose. Identify which type aligns best with your goals and audience.
  2. Budget Wisely for Success: Whether virtual or in-person, carefully plan your budget to maximize ROI. Don't be afraid to invest in quality production—it makes a big difference.
  3. Build an Audience Strategy: Your existing network is your biggest asset. Focus on attracting an audience that resonates with your message and goals.
  4. Leverage Events for Long-Term Growth: Think beyond one-time events. By creating a sustainable, event-driven business model, you can continue building engagement, loyalty, and income over time.

Take the Leap: Start Planning Your Next Event

Linda Cain’s insights reveal that events are a powerful vehicle for business growth. With the right planning, audience strategy, and budget, events can yield incredible returns and elevate your brand’s visibility. Whether you’re considering a virtual summit, intimate retreat, or hybrid experience, the potential for impact is vast. Take Linda’s advice to heart and unlock the full potential of events to skyrocket your business.

3

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Thank you so much, too, for having me delightful to be here.

4

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: I haven't really talked to anybody in the past who's an event, planner. So this is kind of exciting for me.

5

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Oh, wow! That's great!

6

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: So how did you get into it?

7

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Oh, my gosh! I'll give you the short readers version. But I was working for a catering company in high school.

8

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and had a weekend job with them, and I was doing a variety of different kind of events, but a lot of weddings.

9

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and we got charged my senior year with doing a golf outing for a law firm in la

10

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: to put a room a

11

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: golf and rewards awards banquet and things like that for their clients together.

12

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and so nobody at the company wanted to work on it. So they're like, you know. Give it to the new kid

13

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and I honestly did not know that much about golf, let alone golf, tournaments and and everything. So I ended up spending a few days at the golf pro shop and asking questions and

14

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: whatever. And then we ended up putting this thing together, and it went off wonderfully. It was great, it we had such a a blast doing it and we were able to use 3 different golf courses, and then we had a big, huge dinner at the Beverly Hills Club in Beverly Hills Hotel in La.

15

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so it was just a lot of fun, and I fell so much in love with doing things other than the weddings, and

16

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: thought, Oh, my gosh! There's got to be more events that you know are out there, that we can do the different kinds of events that we can do. Well. Then, that summer when I graduated, I got a call from the firm to come and work for the summer as an intern

17

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: in their marketing department, and they were just creating an in-house Events department to handle client events.

18

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So the rest is history. I ended up staying there

19

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: for 14 years working with them. And then I went on to create Blue diamond event management or my own Event Management company. The firm stayed my client for the 1st few years of being in business, and then

20

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: one of the gals that was working for me took over those projects, and I moved on to work with coaches, authors, speakers, and entrepreneurs.

21

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So that's how I landed here.

22

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: That's a kind of an exciting adventure.

23

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Started back.

24

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: You're really young and.

25

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: There!

26

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Gosh! She doesn't like planning a party.

27

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: I just fell into it, and the thing that I love about it is that I've been able to not only work with

28

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: coaching and retreats and fulfillment programs and things like that.

29

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But we've done so much with nonprofit associations and trade associations. And I feel like we've had our hands on just about every kind of an event that you could possibly think of from Bob Mitzvahs to working on one of the breast cancer research there in October. There's a huge breast cancer

30

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: event for raising funds and women's, you know, awareness around breast cancer. And we've gotten to work on that we got to work with Betty White when she was alive, on 4 times for raising funds for the the la Zoo, for the animals at the La Zoo, which was one of her charities, that she had.

31

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So we had the opportunity of working with her, which was a lot of fun. We worked with Cynthia Kersey on the unstoppable foundation for raising schools in Africa and building schools in Africa, and we had a lot of our event. Clients

32

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: actually went and donated funds to the unstoppable foundation, and built schools in their name

33

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: in Africa. So it's kind of been just a beautiful circular

34

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: give and take and receive that we were able to be doing when she was doing those events. So it's just been a lot of fun. So we've done everything, from small intimate gatherings to 1,000 1,500 people, events, and more so.

35

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: I feel very privileged that our

36

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: not only who we work with has expanded through the years. But the types of events that we've done so I feel like we can just just about handle anything.

37

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: So what are the different kinds of events that people could have.

38

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Oh, my gosh, so in the entrepreneurial world.

39

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you will typically find events around

40

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: a product, a program, a course

41

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: or a high level coaching package.

42

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so we call those enrollment events where people are. They build an event around a particular topic training program product.

43

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And you come in for 3 days, and then they sell you into their 6 month year long coaching program for a high ticket.

44

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Those are typical that we call those enrollment events. And then there's retreats where those can also be enrollment events. But they're typically more. You're in a program and you get to go on a retreat with everybody who's in the program.

45

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So it might be an international retreat or even domestic. You know us side. There's a lot of really fantastic places to go and retreat centers in the Us. That people often don't think about. It's really fun. When we work with Uk clients. They want to come here for retreats.

46

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and we want to go to Europe. So.

47

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Gorge.

48

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: They're like, I want to go to Vegas and Palm Springs, and you know, and Florida, and we're like what? No, we want to go to Italy and Costa Rica, and so so it makes it really fun.

49

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so and then there's virtual events which are more popular now, of course.

50

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: since you know, we all survived 2020 but but they were virtual before, and virtual events are really good because their webinars, their one day classes. They're

51

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you can use them for a master class series. You can, you know, do meet and greets. You can do networking. There's so much that you can do now, and people are more open to being done in the virtual space.

52

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So those can be very lucrative and also very great for building community and connection.

53

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And then there's what we call the hybrid and the hybrid event. Not very many people do those, because you're actually doing 2 events at one time.

54

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So you're talking to people virtually, but then you'll have a small audience that's with you in person.

55

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So you've got to be pretty good host to be able to handle both

56

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: both groups and keep them both engaged and make them feel like they're the only ones in the room. So we have a few clients that will do those they can. They're very fun because the people that come with you in person you get to spend that dinner hour, evening an extra day with them. And so there's a more of an intimacy that's built with that smaller audience. While still serving your bigger audience. You know they couldn't come in person, so it can make them a very fun event to do

57

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and then there's just retreats that are just travel retreats. They're not

58

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: for selling or working on anything. They're just let's go

59

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: have an experience. And you know, maybe we'll do a little bit of self

60

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: evaluation or leadership training, or something like that. But it's really more about the experience. So you know, you go hiking in the jungles, or you go to the Dominican tree houses, or you go to Costa Rica and

61

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you know, have a

62

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: tropical rainforest type experience, or you just go to Italy to shop, or whatever you want to put together, so it could be anything and everything.

63

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Interesting. So let's talk about the financial.

64

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Part of it, cause I I'm personally curious about this. I I've never done an event.

65

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: I've been to a few events.

66

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: But

67

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: how does how does the money end of it work?

68

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So you so budget are 1st and foremost, right? So be be when you pick what kind of an event you gonna do. You have to be very budget aware. So anything in person is obviously gonna cost more than being in the virtual space.

69

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Now, having said that if you're doing a Tony Robbins style 30,000 people in all these 16 Zoom Rooms that he has up in big boards and things like that. This can be very cost

70

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: that can also have a high ticket cost to it because of the production piece on the backside.

71

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But for the typical coach, author, or event host, you can, you know, have 2, 300 people, even a thousand, in zoom.

72

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and manage that very effectively, and probably manage that anywhere from 3,000 to 15,000, depending on what type of setup you want.

73

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So so it can be very lucrative. Because you can charge, you know, a hundred people $97 to come, and then maybe 1 97 or 2 97 for a vip experience. So you spend a little extra time with them.

74

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and then you have your

75

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: planner and your tech package, which, like I said, can be anywhere 5 to 10,000 15,000.

76

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Sometimes our clients will want us to come and set up a studio in their home.

77

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: so that everything is projected from their home. So that's a little bit more expensive than everybody just staying in zoom and managing it from Zoom.

78

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But if you did a

79

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: typical

80

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: say tier one package in Zoom

81

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you would probably spend about 7,500 to $10,000 on your tech, your support, your planning your program, coaching

82

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: having people be with you in zoom, helping you to you know, create welcome signs, music, spotlighting your speakers, putting up the Powerpoint, just helping you to give it a higher level than we're just sitting here

83

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and also having somebody be managing the chat, talking to people dropping your links so that you can just stay focused on the training

84

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and then, if you did any mailing. For example, if you wanted to mail, swag out to people, sometimes we get the boxes with the books and binders and things in it. Then you would have the cost of that, so you could probably do

85

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: a

86

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: 2, 300 person virtual event, for you know, under 25 k. Very easily, even probably closer to 10, if you were very budget conscious.

87

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So that and so. And then if you're selling into a program, let's say you're selling.

88

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and the whole purpose of your event is to have a profit, make money and sell into your coaching program or a product.

89

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Then, if your product was like 2997 or 59, 97, or, you know, 10,000 15,000,

90

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and you know, depending on yourselves would then, of course, depend on what your profit margin would be.

91

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So typically, we see clients have anywhere from

92

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: oh, 50 K to

93

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: maybe a hundred 75 as an average in profits on a tier. One event.

94

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But then, if they have a high ticket in for 25 K. Or something like that.

95

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: where it's a more robust program they're selling people into, and they have a hundred people in the room. They'll probably sell a good 12 to 18 of those people into that high ticket.

96

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and so they can have a half 1 million dollar event very easily. And we've had some clients that have had.

97

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you know, 2, 300 people in the room, and they've sold 30, 40 of those offers, and they've.

98

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you know, had a million dollar event in a virtual space.

99

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and.

100

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Do you help help them get

101

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: people in the room.

102

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: We have strategies for filling the room and things that they can do. We don't actually fill the room for them, because the host is going to know their best audience and have access to their audience. They typically been cultivating that audience already over a few years.

103

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so it's that's not our forte. Our forte is the strategy, the actual mechanics and production of the event.

104

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And what you're going to sell and what you're creating that gives you a repeatable process.

105

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: so that you can repeat events after events and have them stay profitable

106

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: ongoing.

107

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so. But we have a lot of strategies and a lot of joint venture partners that we can plug you into if you need Facebook ads, funnels built things like that.

108

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: So what would the

109

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So now.

110

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Say, your average audience, size or lead base might need to be in order to

111

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Villa.

112

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: You have. Like, if you yeah.

113

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: 100 people in it.

114

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: If you have a if you have an email list of I'd say 3,000 or more.

115

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: You could fill a hundred people in a room

116

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: pretty easily. And if you with that same list, if you wanted to be in person

117

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you would probably fill a room 60 to 80 people.

118

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: You might reach a hundred a hundred 10 with some extra effort.

119

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: The difference being that you're looking at

120

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: 25 k. And below for virtual. You're probably looking at

121

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: 25 k. To 50, 55 k. In person.

122

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: because you're gonna have to. Well, depending on what you want to do. But the average is that

123

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: because you're gonna have to have X amount of people stay on property? If you're staying at a hotel the hotels want gonna want you to have some food and beverage spin?

124

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So typically people do a lunch every day for their, you know, vip people, you have. The tickets are a little bit higher. They're, you know, usually 197 and 3 or 4 97

125

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: to help cover those costs.

126

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: You can utilize sponsors and speakers to help offset costs as well.

127

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: You're it's just a higher ticket, but

128

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: depending on, you know.

129

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: depending on how you sell and what you're selling

130

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: sometimes being in person makes the most sense. And so you're going to hit a million, so that 55 that you spend is nothing

131

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: but sometimes it's better to make you stay virtually until you build up a process, and people want to see you live, and then they'll come. Be with you live.

132

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: The key, though, is

133

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: being able to know that you don't have to sell in order to make your money for the year.

134

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So just having an event, and

135

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: taking the proceeds from that event, and being visible, and

136

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and teaching and coaching is enough for you.

137

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Then you would want to stay virtually, and not take the gamble on a in person.

138

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But if it if you know you're really going to do that high ticket, and you know you're going to have the 100 people in the room. You might want to take a gamble on that in person, because there's just something about

139

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: being in a room when you're selling a high end ticket

140

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: that you have the leveraging of those relationships when you're in person.

141

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: but they can be done virtually.

142

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Interesting. So do you do many kinds of events where there's multiple people, I mean, like Summit.

143

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Yeah. Summits is another type of event. Now, a summit is honestly a summit benefits the host more than anyone else on the summit.

144

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and the reason that most people do summits is to increase their email list, increase their visibility, and also their connection to other speakers that content can potentially attend additional events, or they can do collaborations with

145

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: as a summit speaker when I'm on other people's summits.

146

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: It's important that I market to my list and get my list there.

147

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: so that the host then will want to give me the full list of everyone that joined.

148

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But if I don't have the 5 people to come, or the 10 people to come. Whatever the Host recommendation is for being supportive. Then I'm only going to get the people that signed up for my session, so it might not be so worth me as a host.

149

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But if I'm wanting to build up my visibility with other speakers

150

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: being a speaker on a summit is really good, because other people on that summit then will want you to be on their summit. They'll want you to be on their summit, and then

151

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: it builds helps you to build your build visibility as well.

152

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: But as far as

153

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: the person that gets everybody's names and the person that benefits the most from a summit is the host of the summit.

154

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: so people often get very disappointed because they go on summits, and they're like, I only got 50 names. Well, you didn't read your contract correctly. You didn't understand the whole functionality of a summit, and why summits are done.

155

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and how much of your own marketing and pushing and publicizing of the fact that you were going to be on that summit. Did you do?

156

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And we often find nothing didn't forgot about it. And so, okay, that's why you got 50 people. Now, we're.

157

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Guests work the same way. By the way.

158

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And podcasts exactly work. The same way, podcasts are the new summits. It's like, Oh, I'm on 6 podcasts, great.

159

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: What are you doing with them. Are you marketing afterwards? Are you connecting with people? Is the gift that you're giving away? Really something that that audience wants?

160

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So sometimes you have to have several different gifts in order to be able to match your gift up with the audience of where you're speaking.

161

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and then there's retreats which are my favorite, and I love the working retreats. It's a combination. We call them sweet retreats. It's a combination of teaching training and offering something to the audience charging a higher ticket for people to come and be with you for the weekend, because they're going to walk away with a blueprint or a plan or something done

162

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and then selling them into that high ticket offer, or making another type of a higher, higher ticket offer at the end of the retreat.

163

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and those can be really fun. Those you can make 2550 k. Easily in a weekend, and if you do 3 or 4 of those a year.

164

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you've added 6 figures to your bottom line without a whole lot of work and effort.

165

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And that's with like 10 to 1416 people in the room.

166

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Interesting. And where does this normally get held? I mean, does it.

167

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Retreats can be anywhere. I've had clients go. We had a client go to Scotland. We had a client go to Italy.

168

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: A lot of our clients just go right in their own backyard Embassy suites, or a local Hyatt that they love, or a local neighborhood hotel that they like and and they just bring people to them.

169

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and they give them an experience. And like I said, they teach and train, and they people walk out with something done. So they want more.

170

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So an example of that would be you would. Have you ever done a vip day?

171

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Do you know what a vip day is.

172

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: No, I.

173

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Oh, okay, alright. So just a quick little education a Vip day is, if you're typically a coach or speaker, author, entrepreneur.

174

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you have

175

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: different ways of working with your clientele. You do events, and, like, I said, virtual in person, retreat, type events.

176

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: You might do master classes, webinars. You might do a training, an all day training or a half day training. You might do a little Mini series, you know. Most of those are all driven virtually now. They used to be in person, but a lot of them are driven virtually

177

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: so. Those are ways that you reach your audience and and have, you know, people work with you. Then you either sell into group programs or you sell into one on ones.

178

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Well, when you sell one on one, you and I might meet for 3 months or 5 months, one on one every week, and move you along our process.

179

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Well, sometimes you can do what they call a Vip day, which is where you charge maybe 3,000 5,000 $10,000 for a day.

180

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and you spend an entire day with that person, typically, you spend it in person, but you can do it virtually as well.

181

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and usually comes with a couple hour like a 2 h prep phone call. Then you spend the day with the person, and then a 2 h. Follow up in a couple of weeks to see what needs to be adjusted.

182

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and I've done them myself so like some of my mentors that I've worked with. I've done a vip day where I've just gone in where they're at. I spend the whole day

183

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: pound out new processes, or think of new ways of marketing, or when I was changing my avatar around about who my target audience was, I did a vip day to work that process out.

184

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so a vip day is typically a higher paying day. So if you're a person who does a lot of vip days

185

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: instead of doing those Vip days still charge that higher price point. But bring your people in together as a group for a weekend.

186

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So we're finding that a sweet spot is 2,000 to $2,500,

187

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and people comes will pay that amount to come and spend the weekend together.

188

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and 10 to 16 people, and you bring them together. You workshop

189

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and teach and train, design a path, give them a 90 day, jump, start whatever.

190

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and

191

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: They feel like they've gotten something. We had a gal that taught people how to make their bots in a weekend. We've had people who have done the outline of your book in a weekend and wrote your 1st 2 chapters we've had

192

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: people come in and do your entire makeover and video, you know, do your sales video and a welcome video and some photos and walk out with things like that done

193

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and then sold into ongoing packages.

194

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so it makes it really nice because it's fun for you as a host, because you get to be with people. It's a low cost.

195

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and it's a high ticket entry, as if you were having a vip day with them.

196

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So you're doing it as a group, and then you sell into a 5,000 7,000 $510,000 6 month year long program.

197

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And that group that's has spent the weekend with you.

198

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: We have found that if you've got

199

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: 10 to 14 people, you're pretty much gonna have. Half of that group will buy whatever because they bonded they want to finish it off. They want to stay with you.

200

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and so, rather than hitting all those people, one on one.

201

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: you now can hit them as a group, and so then every quarter. You can repeat that process

202

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: that make sense.

203

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Yeah, totally. I.

204

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: When I mind, is just.

205

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Like.

206

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Yeah.

207

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Crazy, right now.

208

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So when I tell people like you know. Oh, I work. I'm a coach, and I work one on one, and I have vip days. Forget your vip days. What do you charge? 3,000 great charge? 3,000. Bring them in for 3 days for a weekend.

209

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: You'll get time with each person, but they'll be community built. Sell that community into a bigger ticket. Now they'll want to stay and hang with each other, or a good portion of them.

210

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and then repeat that and it. It's a simpler

211

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: lifestyle around events. But you're still doing events, and like I said, we've had some clients that have added.

212

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: for example, Leah, she does 2 domestic and then one international.

213

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and that's and now that's all she does. And then the rest of the year she might pick up a vip day here and there, or

214

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: add somebody to her year-long program. If if it's a fit.

215

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Wow.

216

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: I just like.

217

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Fun.

218

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: So many options.

219

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: There are, and that's what we do, because I know it's like, you're probably thinking, wow! I would love to do some of this, but I'm overwhelmed. I don't really know if it's possible. Is it possible for me? And that's what we do. Is we? We work with you to map that out. Dive deep in your business, find where the 6 figures are hiding, because I can guarantee you they are hiding there

220

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and pull that out and put it into a formula that works for you, that matches your lifestyle and goals and things you'd like to do.

221

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And then events are created, and we call that our event driven business process.

222

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Oh, I.

223

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So it's a lot of fun.

224

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: And you have. You have the complete guide that you do so.

225

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So we have a complete guide. It's called Profitable Events, a complete guide, and it will take you through a virtual event, a live event, a hybrid event and a retreat.

226

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and there's little exercises for you to do in there. Kind of see which one?

227

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And and you might a lot of our clients do 3. They'll do some virtual stuff. They'll do a main

228

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: in person event an enrollment event, and then they'll do a couple of retreats.

229

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So it really just depends on what kind of you know, lifestyle, and what kind of events that you want to do. We have clients that just stay virtual through the whole thing. We have others that are only in person like I said, it really is what you want to create.

230

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So there's a lot of really good things in the guide, and it'll walk. It'll walk you through the different kinds. Give you some little exercises to do, and then you're welcome to book a free call with me just to dive in further and help you see what's possible.

231

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Yeah, wow.

232

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: I'll definitely be getting that.

233

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Good.

234

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: It's my mind has just been totally blown. So how.

235

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: People.

236

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Get in touch with you. I I realize there's the guide. But what? What would be the 1st step in in terms of if somebody's hearing this and thinking, Oh, yeah, I can see how I could. I could incorporate. Maybe.

237

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Some of.

238

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: This in, or or maybe they're just like me, and their mind is just going in 47 different directions and

239

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: get a Paul pulled together in in a way that could make sense for them.

244

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: get reach you through that, too. I'm sure.

245

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Yeah.

246

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Events by blue diamond.com.

247

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Dot com and no E on the blue, though if you type in E, you'll get to us.

248

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: The reason for that is the most expensive diamond in the world is a blue, and because it's from France there's no E on the end of their blue.

249

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Wow!

250

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Call.

251

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: That I love hearing how how different domains come.

252

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Yeah, because.

253

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Is

254

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: like mine is the coaches alchemist.com. Then there's no e cause it's it's supposed to have an apostrophe in there. You can't put an apostrophe in so.

255

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: We we just started the I, you know. Of course I I love diamonds, and blue is my favorite color, and when we got ready to do our event. We just started thinking about

256

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: We were looking at the Kaizen process in Japan about how every day is an improvement.

257

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and it just sort of resonated to me that

258

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: that you know the diamond. Every day it's chiseled, and it becomes brighter and more brilliant, and it's uncovered, and there's more pieces of the diamond that's uncovered until it unfolds to be what it is.

259

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And so that kind of went along with the theory. And I'm like, Well, let's just do blue diamond, since blue is my favorite color, and diamonds are rare. And then one of my team members said, Yeah, the rarest diamond, you know, was King Louis the 14, th or something like that.

260

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: From France. It's called the blue, and I'm like great. We're blue diamond. So that's kind of how we got our name.

261

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And there was a lot of tequila involved, too. Of course.

262

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Everything sounds great, with lots of tequila.

263

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Oh, so anyway!

264

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: So.

265

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Go ahead.

266

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: I was just gonna say this has been absolute pleasure, and I am so pleased that I have blown your mind.

267

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: I love it when people are open to the possibility, and realizing that there's more hiding in their business than they realize, and that events could be that tool to bring it out, and to be added to what you're doing in the world.

268

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: Yeah, I I love this so much. And you're not just like us based. It's it's the whole world. And I. I love things that bring the world closer together. And this is totally it. So what's the one thing that you want the audience to take away from our conversation today?

269

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Oh, I love that. Your audience will sit here for just a moment and ponder if they haven't done an event. Is there an event that they could do in their future.

270

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and to really seek out and find it?

271

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: And if they are doing events, how can they make them more engaging, more impactful

272

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: and level up their audience to be with them in a different kind of experience than what they're doing. Currently.

273

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: because there are so many wonderful things that you can do, even virtually, that keeps and draws attention in. And the learner learns even more, and wants to be with the mentor even more.

274

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: So just like Nike says, just go do it.

275

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist & Host of the You World Order Showcase Podcast: I love it. I love it. Thank you so much for joining me, Linda.

276

::

Linda Cain l BluDiamond Events: Thank you. Jill.
